(Next Day)
Today was a big day, at least if I got to go with them. We were supposed to meet an Alacryan messenger at some point, they don't know where though yet. I want to go, because I want to see who takes Uto's place, if someone takes Uto's place.
Last night, before I went to bed, I created a clone with half my strength, but it only had my ice and illusion deviant powers, to go back into the dungeon and watch over the Twin Horns, I knew Adam died at some point, and I wanted to prevent that from happening. The clone was a replica of me, so they knew the clone could be trusted, but I gave it a cloak to hide its face just in case.
I yawned in my bed, stretching my arms out into the air, and sat up in my bed. I've been having trouble sleeping, so it's super early here, no one is up, not even Arthur. I got up off my bed and started to get dressed.
I was planning on switching up what I wore, I slipped on my black tights, I grabbed a pair of black shorts and a white t-shirt, slipped them on, then I put on my usual armor set, lastly, a cloak given to me yesterday by Elder Virion, which was also completely white.
After I got dressed, I went into the bathroom and ran water through my hair, made it so I didn't have bed head, and then made my way out of my room.
I walked the hall, the guards that were up, all bowed to me as I passed them. They knew and respected me, the guards in here knew about everything that I had done. If I had to guess the time right now, it was around six in the morning.
"Virion." A guard bowed and spoke.
"Abold." I said as I stood in front of the council room. "You mind if I go in there?"
"No, go ahead." He opened the door for me, and I walked in.
To my surprise, Aldir was there. "Didn't know you were up." I approached the desk, and took a seat across from him, his third eye following me as I did.
"Virion, still having trouble sleeping?" I smiled at the Asura.
"How'd you know about that?"
"You may have blood magic, but I can still sense when mana is being used." He told me, I never really tried to hide it in the morning. "You just got back yesterday; you should be sleeping."
"Yeah, I can never sleep when I get back from the dungeon." I shrugged at the god. "It just means I have more time to get stronger and absorb mana more often." Since I was in white core, all I could do was add mana to it, and get to the integration phase, which I didn't know that much about. I used my ring on my hand daily, but I had to keep that a secret from the man before me.
"That's good to hear, the you getting stronger." Aldir emitted a powerful presence, I knew that, but with my blood magic I could block it off. "But you should make sure to sleep."
"I do." I leaned back in the chair. "Aldir, you mind if I ask, can I come to the meeting with the Alacryans?"
"There has been talk about bringing you with, since you have been the main player in the war so far." Aldir was right, I mean, I don't want to brag, but I kinda did carry us the last two years. "Since you're up already, you might as well come with, we could use your age as an advantage."
"Huh?" My age? That's why he wants me to come? I mean it's fine with me if I get to go.
"If we show their messengers that it's true, a boy defeated one of their Retainers, they'll start to think about everything. What can that boy's brother do? What could an adult do from Dicathen? They haven't even seen the Lances fight; they don't know their strength. Their soldiers and other Generals will start to question their real strength." Aldir brought up some good points about what my age could do to them.
"Mind games then, that's what you want to do." I nodded and smiled at him. "For a god, you think a lot like a Lesser."
"I suppose I do." At least he knew it, that's a trick a Lesser would totally use. "Virion, are you prepared?"
"For?"
"The war, Arthur and you are the hope Dicathen needs. Originally, we didn't want you fighting at all, then it went to if we needed you, we would, but you decided to go into the dungeons alone, and in there you have proven just how dangerous of a mage you are." Aldir paused for a second, then went on. "Now, you're considered to be the strongest mage in Dicathen."
"Wow, feels good to be complemented by you." I ran a hand through my hair. "No, I'm not ready for the war, but I have to be, we all do."
"For an eleven year old, you speak like you are an adult." Aldir told me, he was right, the war matured me, and I thought for my age I was smart. "It will be Virion, Arthur, you, and me going to meet the messengers."
"Does it help if I tell you the messengers are going to be Retainers?" Aldir looked at me confused, well, as much as he could confused, nothing really ever changed in his facial expressions.
"How do you know?" I wonder what it's like having three eyes, shit, can't be thinking about that.
"As you have learned, I'm pretty good at reading people and situations, from what I know, Agrona is the type of person to show off his big guns, to do exactly what you mentioned before, to play mind games." I noticed a slight smile from the god, but it went away just as quickly as it appeared.
"Huh, that's true." His third eye continued to look into my soul. "You are clever for your age."
"I told you." I sent him a smile.
"It just means we will prepare to see them; it doesn't really matter if they are there or not." I do wonder who's going to be there, Cylrit, Jagrette, who knows.
I'm about to either alarm Aldir of something, or change things for the better, this was the only time I've ever been alone with him, I might as well do it now. "Aldir, I told you, I'm good at reading people, and what I'm about to say, don't take it to heart, okay?" He didn't say anything, just sat there in silence, so I continued. "Lord Indrath is planning something else, isn't he?"
"What?" He asked me questioningly, wondering what I meant.
"Lord Indrath is a god among gods, that's what I've heard, so he wouldn't let things to chance." I paused for a second and let him take in my words. "If I had the forces he had, I would send in a small team to take out Agrona, then this whole thing would be over." I raised my finger up and waved it sarcastically. "However, that man has ears and eyes everywhere, Agrona will be ready for any attack thrown at him, then the treaty you guys supposedly have, would be broken, and if I was then Agrona, to keep the treaty going, I would make it so you Asuras couldn't help out in the war effort." That's exactly what's going to happen, so let's see what Aldir has to say.
He sat there, eyeing me up, then spoke. "And what was that a prediction, or are you telling me what's going to happen?"
"It's a prediction, all I do is put my mind in the person, and think, what is that person going to do next."
Aldir nodded his head at me. "I'll take your words into consideration."
"Like I said, only a prediction." I smiled again, Aldir was smart, I couldn't do anything else, or he would start to suspect something was up. "Where's Windsom, shouldn't he be here?"
"Eventually." Aldir said, and the door opened.
"Sir, we have the location of the meeting with the Alacryan messengers." A guard said to Aldir. "They want to meet on a ship in the ocean, of the coast."
"Go get Commander Virion and Arthur Leywin." Aldir ordered, and the guard as quickly as he entered, left the room to fetch the two. "We should go as well."
"Alright." We both stood up and made our way toward the door.
"Virion, keep your head on straight, think before acting out there." Aldir said as we made our way to the teleportation gate.
"I will, I'm not crazy." We turned the corner down another hall. "Maybe a little." Aldir shot me a look, then faced ahead. "You know, if I am right, and there are Retainers or Scythes there, you should let us kill them."
"No, see, think before acting." There were two guards standing in front of the teleportation gate room.
"I know it's a war crime, or something like that, but come on, a battle on a boat would be fun." The guards gave me wide eyes as they bowed to Aldir, and then opened the door to the room.
"Can you men leave us alone for the moment?"Aldir ordered, and the men nodded and walked away. "Virion, yes, that's a war crime, don't think about it." I sent him a smile, imagine, taking on two Retainers in the middle of the ocean, oh, I know this is the Serpent talking, but that would be fun.
"I'm not, all I am saying is, that we could take out two of their Generals." I pictured it happening. "But I know, we can't."
"Good." Aldir told me, and we stood near the door, waiting for Elder Virion and Arthur.
"Is what I am wearing appropriate for this kind of meeting? I don't really care, but I should probably look the part." I told him as I messed around with my new white cloak.
"Why do you think Commander Virion gave you the white cloak?" I looked up at Aldir, and his third eye peeked down at me.
"Oh." I answered, that makes a lot more sense. "Never mind then."
Elder Virion appeared at the end of the hallway; he was in a black robe. "Virion, I guess you're coming." He said as he got closer.
"If that's okay, Aldir said it was, so I figured I might as well."
"It's fine." He nodded at me. "The cloak I got you looks good."
"Thanks, it's comfortable too." Way more comfortable than whatever Aldir was wearing, gold and gems were all over his outfit.
"I heard the ships were about a day out." Elder Virion told us. "The real war is about to begin."
"Yeah, I think we should start the war by letting me commit a war crime." Elder Virion just stared at me, and I raised my hands. "I'm just joking, I won't touch the messengers."
Elder Virion turned his head toward Aldir, and Aldir just shook his. "Virion, you scare me sometimes."
"Come on, gramps, it was just a joke, I was trying to lighten up the mood a little." I scratched the top of my head. "Sorry."
"Maybe try not to joke about committing a crime." Elder Virion patted my shoulder. "Are you stressing at all?"
"Na." I answered. "I'm good to go, whatever needs to be done, will be done."
"Tch, you are something else." Elder Virion laughed a little. "Thanks again, Virion, for healing Cynthia."
"It was my pleasure, I didn't know her that long, but she treated me well." I was only at the academy for a couple of months.
"She's still asleep, but Arthur and you got rid of the curse, and that is all that matters." I agreed with Elder Virion, but she still had to wake up.
"That's good to hear." I told him as Arthur arrived in the hall with Sylvie on his head, wearing white like me, except it had gold linings. "There's my brother."
"Veer, what are you doing here? Is he coming with us?" Arthur asked immediately as he got close enough.
"He is." Aldir told him.
Arthur looked at me, considered his thoughts, then spoke. "Okay, that's fine."
"You look well for someone who is about to fight in a war." Elder Virion smiled at him.
"I'm trying to impress the enemy." Arthur replied. "Should we head out?"
"Yes." Aldir answered, and we began to walk inside of the room. "Wait here." Aldir stepped in front of us, and started to manipulate the portal, making it change colors to a more brilliant shining blue. "We are going to Slore."
