Chapter 119: Goodbyes

My Beginning After the EndWords: 10619

Arthur, Sylvie, Ellie, and I were standing in front of our parents, saying our goodbyes in the teleportation room. This truly did suck, I didn't want them to join the war, I had no clue what my existence may change. I saved Adam's life, that could mean someone else dies in his place.

"I still think you guys joining the war is a bad idea." Arthur told them. "There is no reason for you to fight, what about Ellie and Veer, they need you."

"Arthur, we've already decided, you should know why we need to do this." My father stepped up and placed a hand on his shoulder. "We will be fine, and they will be too."

I walked up to my mom and hugged her. "Don't do anything too dangerous, stick to little things to help out."

"We'll try." She told me as she embraced my hug. "Same applies to you, Veer, you may be strong, but it doesn't make you invincible."

"I know." I told her as I backed away. "But most of the stuff I'll be doing is going to be dangerous."

"That is not what you say to your mother as she is about to leave." My mom shook her head looking at me with a smile.

I could see that Arthur still disapproved. "I'm going to miss you." Ellie hugged my mother next. "Everyone is joining the war except for me."

"You are too young, and you know it." Arthur spoke up. "Hopefully, the war will be over before you are old enough."

"I hope." My father chimed in. "We should get going, Helen is waiting for us." He turned to me and said. "Come here, Veer."

I walked over to my father and hugged him. "Don't do anything stupid."

"I won't." He then whispered in my ear. "Make sure Arthur is okay." I backed away and gave him a nod. "Arthur, make sure they behave, I don't care if he is a Lance, you are still his older brother."

"I will." Arthur said as I stood beside him, still wearing the outfit from the speech. "Be safe."

"You too." My father shot back at him. "Ellie, don't cry." I noticed a tear mark on my sister's face.

Ellie walked up to my dad and hugged him. "Please don't die." She said as they hugged.

"I won't." He told her as they continued to hug. "Make sure to keep an eye on your brothers." The two separated, and the two of them gave us all meaningful looks.

"We love you three, we'll see each other again." My mother sent us a warm smile, as she waved us goodbye.

"Love you." Ellie and I said as they entered the teleportation gate.

"This sucks." Ellie said, wiping away a tear. "Everyone is going to be gone, and I am going to be stuck inside of this castle."

"It's for your safety." Arthur told her, as we walked out of the teleportation room. "I would have Veer stay here as well, but that won't happen."

"You bet it won't."

After a couple minutes of silence, we all gathered our thoughts with everything going on. Arthur was the one to break the mold.

"Ellie, you'll get stronger, just give it time." Arthur assured her. "Now, I don't know about you Veer, but I need to change out of these clothes."

"Yeah, I'm with you." We turned down the hall where our rooms were.

"Take some time to rest up, it's been a long day." Arthur told me as he stopped in front of his door. "We will talk later inside the council room, and El, I know it's hard, but for now, just focus on training."

"Fine."

Arthur entered his room with Sylvie, and Ellie and I walked up to our rooms. "Veer, you look ridiculous." Ellie shook her head as she entered her room with a smile.

"Thanks, crybaby." I told her as her door closed, and I opened the door to my room and entered.

I made my way to my bed where my clothes were. I needed to change out of this as soon as possible.

As fast as I could, I took the armor set off, and everything else, and switched back into my original outfit with the white cloak. "So much better." I laid back in my bed and sighed.

Alright, so the war has started, that's clear, we are on track with the book, except for a few things that will change. What is confusing me at the moment was Rahdeas, why the hell is here? I already sent my clone to tail him, I understand the council wants to do their best in getting the dwarves to help us, but bringing the foster-father of Olfred here, not wise.

Let's get back on track, the first mission Arthur goes on, ends up with him fighting a Retainer, Retainer Jagrette, that should end up being the same. There is also a small force there, but if Arthur and me are there, they don't stand a chance.

Alright, since I'm going with him, I guess I get to look forward to taking out another Retainer. I haven't gotten to fight in a while, like truly fight, I've been sparring, but I need to let loose. I'm not saying I need to kill, but I need to do something.

I rested my head on my pillow and closed my eyes. I know I'll be out there with Arthur, but I wish I had a bond. Those short moments with Avier were great, sharing a telepathic connection with someone.

I heard my door open, and as I lifted my head, I opened my eyes and saw Aldir standing there. "What is it Aldir? I was about to sleep."

"Tch, if I was any other Asura, they would have killed you, or scolded you by the way you speak, but I know that's just your personality." He stood at the edge of the bed, I sat up against the wall and stared at him. "We have to talk."

"About?" I asked, rubbing my eyes.

"The future."

"What about it?" The future where he uses his world eater technique and destroys the elf kingdom. Hopefully, that doesn't happen, now that I am here.

"Your role." He said. "I've already talked to Arthur, but I want to ask you as well."

"Okay."

"It's obvious that Arthur and you are not normal children, you both are powerhouses in this war. You have already proven that, taking down a Vritra blooded soldier alone. However, you've also proven to be quite intelligent. I know you are a kid, way younger than your sixteen year old brother, but I believe your mind could be a very useful tool." Aldir said with such a serious tone.

"If you are asking me to assist in council meetings, I already thought I was."

"Oh." Aldir simply said. "And you will?" I nodded my head. "Then on to the other thing, I know the struggle you are having with you Beast Will, but when you are out there in the field, don't be afraid to lose control."

"Are you telling me to be a monster, Aldir?" I asked questioningly, cause that's what it sounded like.

"If it wins us the war, yes." Damn, these Asuras were cold. "Lord Indrath believes that Arthur and you are the key to victory, you know that, if you need to be a monster to win a battle, sometimes you have to be a monster."

"I see, so you Asuras, don't really care what happens to my mental state, if I do lose control, all you want is to win the war?" I rolled out of bed, and stood up, facing the Asura. "You are right, I am the key to victory, but I'll do it my way, not yours."

"Virion, your mental state is a small price to pay to see your continent survive." Aldir said authoritatively. "I know you are a child, but this about all the people you could save."

"I'm going to save people either way, I don't need to be crazy to do that. I've already become a person who can kill without hesitation, I don't feel remorse. I think I'm crazy enough as is." I honestly didn't want to lose my mind out there, but Aldir had a point, it's just that his point, had no right coming out of his mouth.

"If you say so." Aldir took a step back. "Commander Virion is waiting in the council room for you." I nodded my head at him. "War brings out the worse in people, Virion."

"Aldir, how much respect do you have for Lord Indrath?" I asked him, trying to play mind games with the god.

"Why do you ask?"

"I'm curious, that's all." I tilted my head at him and asked again. "Is he the person you respect the most in this world?"

"One of them."

I bit my lip and shook my head. "So, for example, if Lord Indrath, was to say, Aldir go wipe out a whole kingdom for me." I paused, looked him dead in the eye. "Would you? You could kill that many people? For what? His approval?"

"Without hesitation." He spoke seriously.

"That's what I thought, unlike you, I'm no one's lap dog." I spun around and made my way into the bathroom. "I'll see you in the council room." The door to the bathroom closed as I took the hair tie out of my hair and ran my hands through it.

I ran some water over my face, dried it off, and then left the bathroom. Aldir wasn't there anymore, imagine if I went and told Arthur about this, he would be mad at Aldir as well. Telling his younger brother to lose control of his mind, so that we had a better chance of winning the war.

I needed to get stronger, so when the time came, I could kill a god. I don't really know how to do that yet, besides absorb mana, but that won't do. There has to be some other way, an aether core is out of the picture, I don't see how that's physically possible. The only reason Arthur gets it, is because of Sylvie's sacrifice.

Now, if I could become an asura, that would change things, but like I said, it's physically impossible. I hope that I am just missing something, I mean I was brought to this world for a reason, and it wasn't to die in this war.

Well, I might as well make my way to the council room, I wanted to take a nap, but I guess I don't get to do that right now. This was how things were going to be around here now, everybody up tight and eager to hear from the field. That sounds extremely boring to me, I have no intention of taking long breaks from the field.

I opened my door and entered the halls of the Floating Castle; I turned down a hallway and was met by two soldiers. "General Virion." The two immediately bowed to me "Please, excuse us." They moved out of the way so that I could walk past them.

"Thanks." I said as I walked past them. How nice of them to move out of the way for me. I wonder where Callias is, I should ask Elder Virion to place him at the same spot as me.

I turned down the last hallway, the one that led to the council room, standing there was Arthur. He faced me as I approached him, he was no longer in the outfit either. "Veer, I see you didn't get to rest either."

I sent him a smile as I stood three yards from him. "Yeah, Aldir came and got me." I needed Arthur and Aldir to get along for now, so I couldn't tell him what he said to me. Is that why he did it? He knew I couldn't tell Arthur, that clever god.

"You ready?" He asked me as we walked side by side up to the council room.

"Yeah, we got this brother." I raised my hand, putting a fist out.

The guards bowed to us and began to open the doors. Arthur stared down at my hand, and then fist bumped me. "Let's go to work then, brother."

We entered into the council room.

The real war has just begun.
