Chapter 124: Who's Coming

My Beginning After the EndWords: 11100

I faced forward, sidestepped, ducked, and then brought my hand up into the gut of the soldier attacking me, sending fire onto his body, then kicked him into his friends, lighting them up with fire as well.

A ball of fire, the size of a person was launched, coming from the sky, giving it my smallest amount of attention, I shot an icy mist into the air, freezing the ball of fire, then shot a bullet of blood out of my hand, at the icy ball as it fell to the ground, causing it to shatter over our soldiers, instead of colliding with them.

I was drenched in blood, it was a peaceful feeling, reminding me of my times in the dungeon. I dodged a sword, sent a blood spike into the guys back, pulled the blood back to me, and sent it into another Alacryan, killing them as well.

Two Alacryans attacked me at once, one bringing a hand toward me that had some sort of acid on it, and the other bringing a sickle surrounded with mana. I froze them in place, conjured two ice daggers in each of my hands, and drove both my hands up into their throats, leaving the daggers there as they fell to the ground.

I started to walk into the force by myself, I knew Vanesy told me not to, but it was hard to stay back. I was swatting them down like flies, and I was enjoying it, I needed more. I could now sense that some of the Alacryans were on the edge of the cliff as we drove them back.

I dodged an ax, then a sword, as they tried to hit me, but I was on a whole different level than everyone here. I grew two ice spikes and impaled both of them, a shield formed in front of an archer, one that must have backed away as soon as they saw our forces coming from the forest.

The archer released an arrow intended for my head, I reached up and caught it in my hands, then disrupted the core of the shield user, and had the blood inside of them erupt.

Soldiers were clashing with each other all throughout the battlefield, it was so loud, but I was able to cancel it out. I didn't know when, but Jagrette should be here soon I believe.

I sensed for Arthur, I knew what his blood felt like, so it was pretty easy, he was almost as far as me, just on the other side pushing them backwards.

"Ahhh!" A soldier screamed as he ran at me holding a spear, I tilted my head at him as I dodged a poke to my head. "Ahh!" He screamed more as he swung at my ribcage.

I shook my head. "Who the hell trained you?" I waved my hand at him, like I was swatting away a fly, and the soldier blew up, blood drenched me and the soldiers nearby. I ignored it, some of the soldiers didn't, I was used to it, being covered in blood.

I conjured two ice daggers in my hands again, dodged attacks with ease, and made my way closer to where I saw a group of Alacryan soldiers circled up together, casting shields in all directions, protecting their force.

I ducked, slid my dagger into someones jaw, pulled it out, threw it at a shield user, she protected herself, and I conjured another dagger in my hand. Six shields formed around them, and I disrupted their cores, causing the shields to disappear, then sent the blood flowing around me at them, forming small spikes in the air and watched as they pierced through the armor they were wearing.

"Drive them back! They're near the cliff!" Vanesy shouted, and she was right, I was about twenty soldiers directly in front of me from the cliff's edge now.

"Hold your ground!" An Alacryan screamed, but died immediately after I ripped the blood out of his body, then shot it toward their back lines, killing a few more.

I still had a ton of mana, it was like I barely used any, probably because I was in white core now.

"Target the brat!" Another soldier from Alacrya screamed, and spells from soldiers around me, came flying towards me, I could see a spear made from fire, blades of water, a gale of wind, there were more, but it didn't matter.

I couldn't just let the spell go, or it would hurt the soldiers behind me, some of them were Alacryans, but most were my soldiers. I quickly formed a wall of ice in front of me, and as the spells collided, a Striker came for my head, I ducked, keeping the ice wall up after each spell broke it down a little.

The Strike went past me, fell to the ground as I sliced the back of his ankle, then stuck my one dagger into his collarbone, and left it there as he fell to the ground. The spells stopped, and I let the wall crumble down, soldiers appeared, running directly at me, maybe ten of them targeting me with their weapons.

Not caring, I waved my hand at them, causing the blood inside of them to shoot out of them onto other Alacryan soldiers. The looks on their faces as they all turned to me was priceless, I was smiling at them with my white cloak on, which wasn't white anymore.

Imagine if I was in my phase two, I could be wiping them out even faster. I was now even closer to the cliff, there were soldiers getting driven backwards off the cliff now all throughout the battlefield.

Most of them weren't surviving, some did, but met their end when one of our soldiers down there killed them. I threw my last dagger into the chest of a soldier just looking at me in horror.

I felt good right now, I was smiling and enjoying myself, killing these people, but I wasn't laughing about it, or acting crazy. I started to manipulate blood all around me, in the corpses, on the ground, in some of the Alacryans still fighting, it all came rushing to me.

I then started to shoot blood needles out of the blood I had floating above us at the soldiers near the edge, making them either jump, or take a needle to the chest or somewhere in the body.

However, as I kept this spell going, mowing them down, I froze in fear. What was this feeling? My hands started to twitch, and I started to back up. Who could be exerting this much power? I've never felt this blood before either, so who?

"Virion!" Vanesy called out, running over to me. "What's wrong?"

"Y-you don't sense that?" I asked her, my eyes wide.

"No, what is it? You're scaring me." I shot an ice shard at an Alacryan running at us and shook my head.

"I have my guesses, I'm going to have to leave this battle, I don't think you need me anymore anyways." I could feel that their numbers were diminishing at a high rate.

"What do you sense?" She asked as she examined the fear on my face.

"Nothing you have to worry about." I told her as I conjured mana around me and began to fly up. I sensed Sylvie in the woods, and flew over the battlefield, corpses were everywhere.

"Wait!" Vanesy shouted, but I ignored her, the plan was working, there was no need for me to stay here now. My heartbeat quickened, I was panicking, this isn't good, I can't take on a Scythe yet, Arthur can't either, and even together I doubt we can. Sylvie is still in the awakening process, so she isn't much help.

I landed on the ground outside the forest, and walked in, staring at me, leaning up against a tree in front of Sylvie was Arthur. "Veer, you're staying."

"Haha." I faked laughed. "You're going to need me if you want to live."

"What do you mean?" Arthur stood straight up and faced me. I started to process everything while I was panicking, breathing heavily, body twitching, this wasn't good, I fucked up big time. If there is truly a Scythe coming, how the hell are we going to take it down? Seris? She would be on our side, it could be her, then everything would be fine. "Veer!" Arthur shook my shoulders as he got closer to me. "What aren't you telling me?"

"It's a Scythe, Arthur." He looked at me in horror, my body was shaking, I've never been this scared before, not even when I stood in front of Uto. I was able to use blood magic and sheer will power to push past it, but right now, it was hard to do that, and I wasn't even near the Scythe yet.

"Are you sure? How can you tell?" He asked, backing away from me slightly.

"I just do." I bit my lip and turned my head. "It was supposed to be Jagrette, but I know what her blood feels like, and this is no Retainer level threat." Whoever was coming, was taking their good old time, flying over here slowly.

"What?" Arthur said questioningly. "What do you mean it was supposed to be Jagrette?"

I shook my head. "I figured they send her, not some Scythe." I turned to Sylvie, her eyes in her dragon form looked fierce, like she didn't care who was coming, then back to Arthur as we stood there listening to the fighting going on, and all the screams being released from the soldiers. "Well." I nodded thinking about the outcome of this fight already. "Arthur, we can't win this, I don't see a way we take down a Scythe at our level."

"How do you know?" He asked as I kept on twitching, not in excitement anymore, but in fear.

"I just do." I answered. "Trust me, we can't beat whoever it is." I paused and went on. "I'm not saying we don't fight, but we are going to need an exit plan if shit starts to go downhill, which it will." Even in white core, I don't think I can take down a Scythe, I was limited in the amount of time I could control Varay's body. "Or you finish up the fight here, and I'll go by us time."

"I can't let you do that, and you know it." Arthur said, and I nodded my head, knowing that he was right. "However, we could reverse those roles."

My heart was beating super fast, I couldn't catch a breath, my vision started to go white, I was having a panic attack. I bent over, as I tried to gather myself, I wasn't used to this feeling, even with Uto, I thought I had a slight chance to beat him, but with Cadell or any another Scythe, I had no idea what I could do to them.

This is Cadell, there's no one else it can be.

"Veer." Arthur put a hand on my back, trying to help me. "Are you okay? Slow your breathing."

I started to take deep breaths, trying to slow my breathing down, I was overwhelmed, all of this was not supposed to happen. "I fucked up." I said out loud to Arthur and Sylvie. "I thought I could handle the pressure of fighting a Scythe, but Arthur, we need to go, we can't defeat him."

"Him?" Arthur asked me as I stood up straight, gathering myself, he took a step away from me. "Better?"

"No." I answered.

"Veer." He said my name again, getting my attention as my heart continued to beat at a fast rate. "Calm yourself and explain to me how you know it's a him, and how you messed up."

This was a really bad situation, Arthur deserves to know everything, I told myself I wouldn't tell anyone, but I think right now might be the time. No, I can't, well, it may be the only way we survive this.

If I tell him about Cadell, with everything I know about him, maybe he can come up with a plan to get us out of here alive. Arthur deserves to know I am a reincarnate, that is the truth, and the right thing to do, so I should just do it, but why does it feel so hard to just say it.

"You're staying here, Sylvie and I will go." Arthur rested a hand on my shoulder. "You have done a lot today already, stay here, calm down, be safe." Arthur turned away and made his way to Sylvie.

I can't let that happen, there's only one choice.

He stopped, frozen in his place after I spoke two words, that revealed everything.

"King Grey."
