"Veer." He said my name again, getting my attention as my heart continued to beat at a fast rate. "Calm yourself and explain to me how you know it's a him, and how you messed up."
This was a really bad situation, Arthur deserves to know everything, I told myself I wouldn't tell anyone, but I think right now might be the time. No, I can't, well, it may be the only way we survive this.
If I tell him about Cadell, with everything I know about him, maybe he can come up with a plan to get us out of here alive. Arthur deserves to know I am a reincarnate, that is the truth, and the right thing to do, so I should just do it, but why does it feel so hard to just say it.
"You're staying here, Sylvie and I will go." Arthur rested a hand on my shoulder. "You have done a lot today already, stay here, calm down, be safe." Arthur turned away and made his way to Sylvie.
I can't let that happen, there's only one choice.
However, he stopped, frozen in his place after I spoke two words, that revealed everything.
"King Grey."
Arthur's back was to me, but I could see Sylvie, her eyes were now fixed on me, Arthur spoke up, but hesitated slightly. "H-how do you know that name?" He slowly turned back to me, giving me a look of sorrow, like he didn't want me to know or something.
"Arthur, Grey, it doesn't matter what your name is, you're my brother, but you need to know the truth." I paused for a second, getting ready to reveal everything. "I'm a reincarnate as well."
Arthur took a step toward me. "Veer, I've known for a while that you were a reincarnate, or something like that." My eyes widened now, confused. "You have been an anomaly to this world just like me, it only took Aldir and Lord Indrath to help me figure it out." He sent me a smile but was still looking at me weirdly. "However, how do you know my name?"
I shook my head, panicking still because Cadell was getting closer to us, and the screams from the nearby battle rattled in my head, making me want to release the Serpent in me, and go crazy. "That's a story I'll tell you if we survive." I answered him. "Because your reincarnation and mine are two completely different scenarios." I didn't have time to explain everything. "If I'm right, a Scythe named Cadell is coming, and to be honest, I don't think we can take him."
"How do you know him?" Arthur asked, and then spoke again. "You are acting like you know him."
"That's because, in a way, I do." I rubbed my chin and thought about my next words. "Arthur, let's just say, theoretically, I'm from the future, it's the best way to sum this up quickly." I needed him to know Cadell's powers. "I know Cadell's abilities."
"I'll take your word, list the abilities." Arthur looked at me with a serious expression, taking in everything I was saying to him.
"Okay, first off, he has Soulfire, which is like this black flame that if it gets into your body can kill you from the inside, he can summon black spikes from thin air, wields a sword, and finally some sort of wind spell that's part of the decay type mana arts. I also know Cadell can turn into a shadow or gas type thing; I don't know the exact phrase." I was pretty sure I listed everything out that I knew about him. "There is one more thing you should know before you see him."
"What's that?" Arthur asked, I could see that he was thinking of what we should do next
"He's the Scythe that killed Sylvia." Arthur went speechless. "Like I said, I'll explain to you everything, because the truth it, we lose this war, I've changed a couple of things already, but right now, what's going on, is not supposed to happen."
Arthur was still taking in my words, I did just break two big things to him, even if he already knew I was a reincarnate. "I feel like I'm asking so many questions, but how do you know it's the one that killed Sylvia, how do you even know about that, you weren't born."
"Like I said, my reincarnation and yours, are completely different, like once you know, you'll understand." I was a ten year old that died of heart failure, haha, now I'm the Devil of Dicathen, a Lance, imagine that. "But I know if you can't control your anger around him, we most definitely will die today."
I felt myself calming down slightly, feeling relief for some reason, like telling him this removed a layer of guilt that was covering me. "Alright." He nodded his head, looking at Sylvie now, trying to solve our situation. "Can you fight? If what you say is the truth, I am going to need you there, even if I don't want you there."
My breathing was slowing, I had no clue what my strength was compared to a Scythe, but there was only one way to find out. "Fuck it." I said, swinging my arms out, looking at my brother. "You have a plan?"
"I'm thinking of one, but before we head toward the Scythe, I need to know." He paused, looked at me intently. "How old are you actually? I don't care, you're still my brother like you said, I'm curious."
"Arthur, this is not the time, but if we add up both my lives, I'm twenty one, but I am no twenty one year old, which I am sure you can tell by now." I shrugged. "I died from heart failure at ten, so I'm still a kid."
"That makes sense." Arthur nodded. "I'll need you to explain to me how you know about me after all of this, okay, brother?"
"I will." I nodded, getting ready for what is to come, this is what I've been training for, a Scythe level threat, I have Arthur here with me, we can do this. "I'm pretty sure ice and water does nothing to soulfire, so I'll make sure he doesn't get any into us."
"How?"
"I'll disrupt his core when he produces it." I should be able to do that, at least for a minor second. "It should give whoever is in trouble enough time." I paused for a second. "I'll slow him down, don't you worry." I felt my fear rising still, it didn't matter, I needed to fight today, I wasn't going to let my brother fight alone.
"I'm worried about this shadow form you are talking about." Arthur admitted. "I don't know how to deal with it."
"We'll be lucky to get him to use that." I started to fly up into the air. "So, even with my information on him, you still got nothing?" I asked him as I flew in the air, looking down at him as he got closer to Sylvie.
"Not really." He shook his head. "However, your blood magic will be key to success, without it, from what you have said, we would be doomed." He was right about that. "With your blood magic, you can't just kill Cadell without it right?"
"Of course not, he's stronger than me."
"So, how would you kill someone who is stronger than you with blood magic?" Arthur jumped on top of Sylvie and looked at me. "If I remember correctly, you told me you needed to get your water mana into the person."
"You're right."
"I say, you use water magic and try to push your water mana into him as I try to cut him with my sword, the more wounds I can cause, the more mana you can get inside of him, and then just like that you can control him, right?" Arthur had a point, but there was one flaw to his strategy.
"That would be nice, but Arthur, I am sorry, cutting him like that won't be easy for you." He might be able to cut him slightly, but this is truly early in the war, Arthur isn't as strong as he needs to be to face Cadell alone. "However, you have a point, I have a way to produce water mana that can get inside of him, while I help you fight him up close."
"I don't like you fighting up close, but it feels like we don't have another choice." Arthur and Sylvie started to fly up with me, as we got ready to fight whoever was coming, but I was pretty sure it was Cadell.
"Let's go then." I smiled at him, and flew ahead toward the dark energy, which was now standing still, unmoving from a spot in the forest. I could hear Sylvie's wings flapping behind me, trying to keep up with my speed. It only took us about a minute or two to reach the spot the Scythe was waiting, and like I said, standing there, standing straight up, hands behind his back, looking at us with red eyes, was Scythe Cadell.
He was standing in the middle of an opening, the closest trees from him were about one hundred yards, it was a perfect field to fight on without any places to hide. I landed twenty yards away from him and waited to do anything until Arthur landed next to me and got off of Sylvie.
Instead of landing, Arthur jumped off of Sylvie while she was flying above me, and he landed on the ground next to me. We stood there, staring at the Scythe, however, I spoke first.
I took a step forward and bowed to the Scythe sarcastically. "Scythe Cadell of Central Dominion, it's an honor to meet you." I stood up, and fixed my eyes onto him, the fear that was built up in me, still there, so to help counter it, I let a little of the Serpent's Will out of me, I could afford to go crazy right now.
Arthur's fear was cut short by his anger, I could tell when he spoke for the first time. "You're the one who killed Sylvia! You were right Veer!" I took a look up at Sylvie, her sharp teeth were showing, and she also looked angry, but the two of them quickly gathered themselves as the Scythe stepped toward us only slightly.
"Good, you two came to me." Cadell spoke with such an authoritative voice that it sent shivers throughout my body. "The wonder brothers, the two saviors, but all I see is a broken man, and a child."
"You killed Sylvia, right? It was you!" Arthur asked, even though I told him about it already. He probably just wanted some confirmation.
"I was the one who killed Lady Sylvia." Cadell answered, summoning a long black sword into his right arm as he looked at us. "Just like how you lost her, you are going to lose your brother the same way, helpless, and weak."
"Me?" I said questioningly.
"Yes." He responded. "I have been sent to recover you, the only Blood Deviant here in Dicathen." Arthur took a step toward the Scythe, but I stopped him by grabbing his wrist. "The High Sovereign would like to do some experiments on you while the war is going on."
"If you think you are just going to show up and take my little brother, you are wrong!" Arthur roared. "I won't let want happened to Sylvia, happen to him."
"Haha." I released the Serpent's Will contained inside of my mind, this was no time to be sane, I needed my Devil energy. "Dragon Slayer, you know that's what he is known by?"
Arthur looked at me as I released his wrist, but Cadell spoke. "How would someone your age know that? Now that I think about it, you knew my name beforehand, Lesser."
"It doesn't matter, we are going to kill you." Arthur's sword hissed with energy, I think it was ice and electricity. He was already in his second phase, so he was ready to fight. "There's no way I am going to let you take my brother back with you!"
I stepped up so I was now next to Arthur and activated "Blood Monarch.
Scales grew on me, runes appeared below my eyes, my hair turned red, my energy and power rose, this felt good. I pulled three tubes of blood out of my mana ring and pulled the blood out of them using my blood magic. I had the blood circle both of my arms as we stood there waiting to start the battle.
I also activated "Scarlett Eyes" and felt my sense of blood, and everything else enhance.
"If you actually think you can stop me from doing what I have to, you are as foolish as any other Lesser." Cadell tilted his head and looked directly at me. "Today, Dicathen will lose a Lance, and another one will be to broken to continue fighting."
