Virion Leywin
My eyes slowly opened as I woke up after the potion put me to sleep, it was weird, but I felt nauseated. Everything was blurry at first and it took me a couple of seconds to recognize everyone in the room.
In it was my father, mother, Ellie, Arthur, and Sylvie who was lying in the corner of the room. My mother, who was on my side, noticed that I was awake first. "He's up, Veer, how are you feeling?"
Everyone turned to me, I was feeling sick for some reason, but who cares. "I'm fine." I answered, looking down at my arm and leg, they were wrapped in some sort of fabric, a different one from before, I wasn't feeling any pain at all, which was good, most likely the potions doings. "Truly."
"My poor boy." My mother was now sitting next to me on the bed, holding my hand. "I thought you said you were done coming to the medical wing."
"Haha." I laughed as I thought back to the countless times I was here. "I did, this time though, I really didn't have too, my bones would have healed on their own."
"Veer, that is how that works, but you still need rest and some medical attention." My father said and smiled at me. "But it is good to see you, we heard about the battle with the Alacryan force, and how it was your plan to defeat them."
"Yeah, it might have been his plan, but he still ended up like this." Ellie added and shook her head looking at me.
"Hey, Veer did an excellent job." Arthur said, and then went on. "I already spoke with Elder Virion." He paused for a second, then said another name. "And Rahdeas about what happened."
When he said Rahdeas, my anger built up, but I held back my aura and bloodlust, knowing it would suggest something to my parents. "Okay, good, I don't need to recap that day at all then."
"It looks like, when you are healthy, you and I are going to Ashber." He said, giving me a smile, which meant only one thing, this was a plan to scuff out Rahdeas, perfect, but if Cadell is there, we might be in trouble again, however, I doubt it will be him this time.
"Really?" My mother said questioningly, holding my hand as she looked at Arthur.
"Why?" My father asked him, curious on why we would be going there. I was surprised that Arthur was coming out and telling our parents where we were going.
"We believe that there may be some locals there, that have information on Alacryans." Arthur said, which I believe was a lie, because I don't think there is. I do believe there is like a slave shop, oh shit, yeah, there is, and it's run by Sebastian, the first person I used my blood magic on, that's funny actually. "So, Veer and I are going to go check it out."
"Oh, doesn't sound so dangerous." My mother said, as she smiled at me. "I don't want you breaking anymore bones."
"I can't make any more promises, but I shouldn't on that journey." I admitted, even though there was still a chance. Sylvie got up from the spot where she was laying out, and made her way over to me, she jumped onto the bed, and snuggled up on my leg. "Where you here the whole time, Sylvie?"
The fox looked up at me, and just closed her eyes; it was Arthur who responded. "She was pretty worried about you." He smiled at me, and then added. "She refused to come with me to the council room."
"Haha." I laughed, but Sylvie ignored us. "So, how's it going with you two, anything happen out there?" I asked my mother and father, not truly knowing, I kind of forget what they did during the war, I know for a fact they are at the wall incident, but that's obvious.
That's when the door opened, and Tessia walked in. "Oh, he's awake." She said as she made her way over to where Arthur was sitting and sat down next to him. "It's good to see you up, Veer, your injuries were pretty serious for a normal person, but I know you already want to get up and get going."
"Haha, that's true." I smiled at Tess. "I thought you were with your team out in the field?" I asked, wondering why she was here.
"Commander Virion suggested that I wait a little before going back out, which I wasn't okay with at first, but I think it's for the better." She said, and I was actually surprised to hear it, she admitted staying in the Floating Castle was a good idea. "But I'm leaving again tomorrow."
"Veer, don't even think about getting up." My mother held my arm like she was holding me in place. "You need to rest."
"I know, I know." I answered with a smile as I propped myself up against the back of the bed. "But you know I can fly right; I don't need to walk on my feet?"
"Veer, stay in bed." Arthur chimed in, silencing me. "She's right, you are going to need rest." He nodded at me. "I am going to need you with me at full strength when we go to Ashber."
"Let me answer your question from before, we are just doing runs from city to the wall, making sure everyone has enough supplies." My father said, which brought up an idea, the train, I can tell Arthur about it now, and he can show Gideon how to make it.
"Cool." I answered, nodding my head. "Arthur, did Aldir come back?"
He looked at me suspiciously, then spoke. "Yes, he was in the meeting with me."
"Good." I wasn't sure when the Asuras were forced to stop helping us, it was soon though, or maybe a little later, I don't know anymore.
"He actually wanted to talk to you in private." Arthur said, why would he want to talk with me in private.
"Alright." It couldn't be about anything too serious, so it didn't really matter. "Well, back to my injuries, did they say when my bones would be healed?"
"Two days." My mother said. "I was healing you while you were asleep as well, so hopefully even earlier, but you'll still have to take it easy for a little."
"Wow, that's good to hear." I started to manipulate the blood around the bones that I broke, and had the cells start to repair themselves at a quicker rate. I was doing this earlier, but I passed out, and the spell cut out. I turned to Arthur and Tessia, there was no time to waste right now, I have an idea. "Is there any way I can chat with you, alone, Arthur?"
"Sure." He answered.
"I'm sorry everyone, this is important, is there any way you can get me something to eat, mom?" I asked, trying to give her something to do for me to make her feel better about this situation, I knew seeing me like this was hard for her, even if it is all the time.
"Sure." My mother said with a smile and got up. "I'll bring you back a meal; you must be hungry anyways."
"Come on, Ellie, let's give them some time alone." My father got up, and escorted Ellie out of the room, my mother followed behind them.
"I'll see you later then." Tess smiled at me, and then left as well, leaving only Arthur, Sylvie, and me.
"What is it?" Arthur asked, knowing something was up. "Is it about Ashber? Because like I said, it can wait until you are healthy."
"No, not that, well, sort of, it's about you." I had an idea to get him stronger. "How much of the mana in Uto's horn have you absorbed?"
"None really." He responded, and I nodded my head.
"I have an idea to get you to white core faster."
"How?"
"I can use my blood magic to increase the rate you absorb mana at and direct the flow of the mana in the horn to your core and the Acclorite in your palm." He needed to get Regis at some point.
"That doesn't sound like a bad idea." He told me. "Was that all you wanted to talk about? They could have stayed in the room for that."
"No, of course not, I also wanted to say, you should teach Gideon how to make a train from the wall to the cities supplying them, it will be safer, and hopefully keep our parents out of harm's way." His eyes widened, and he smiled at me.
"Makes sense, was that my idea, or yours?"
"Haha, it was yours." I admitted, it felt nice to speak to him like this, even if we had to hide it from others. "You come up with it later down the road, but might as well now, it may help us."
"I'll speak to Elder Virion about it, this is for the wall, right?" I nodded my head at him. "Okay, that shouldn't change much, we still have to be smart though, like you said, things are changing and shifting of course from this novel you speak of."
"Yeah, but for the better in some ways, Adam and Director Goodsky are alive." I still haven't seen her since we healed her, I wonder if she is up yet, or still recovering, or is dead.
"I agree, however, the way I look at it is, you changed the fate of two people who died in this novel, which I'm not blaming you for anything, but you don't know what will happen down the road, fate might take two different people who didn't die in the novel as repayment." He had a point, but I knew that already.
"I know." I answered. "I understand all that, there is one thing I regret, and I know it's stupid, and a little off topic, but I wished I changed the fate of Lance Alea, she didn't deserve to die."
"Unfortunately, the more I think about it, there really wasn't anything we could have done." Arthur told me, trying to make me feel better about my decision. "No matter what, at the time, they wouldn't have trusted anything we said, we could have warned them, but it wouldn't have changed anything."
"At least I took down Uto, well, he still has his magic, but he's locked in a cell."
"You did, and whoever they send for us when we go to Ashber, we'll take them down too." Arthur assured me. "You said the next thing that happens was that I took down Uto, so if the timeline has changed, it's going to be someone different."
"Well, obviously, Uto is here."
"Yeah, I'm saying that it's going to be a different Retainer or Scythe." It could even be more than one, they could have them all there, because at this time in the novel, I think they still thought of Arthur as a mere kid, they only ever sent one Retainer to him at a time.
Now, I took down a Retainer by myself, Arthur and I survived against Cadell, even tricked him, Agrona might not take another chance. "If I had to guess, it's going to be Jagrette, she swapped places with Uto on the boat, so maybe she'll end up being where he was in the novel during the war."
"And I took her down by myself?" I nodded again. "Then we should have no trouble with her."
"Oh, if we both are there, then yeah, it won't be a problem taking her down." I would have more control over her mana core than I did with Cadell, so it would most likely be like Arthur and I were not fighting a mage. "You also meet Seris for the first time."
"Scythe Seris, and you said she's on our side?"
"Yeah, she is, but she doesn't fight with us, but she also doesn't do anything to harm us." I scratched the top of Sylvie's head as she slept against my leg. "She saves you."
"So, trust this Scythe is what you are saying?"
"I would, she's a powerful ally to have." We were going to need as many allies as possible.
"Okay, but we already have powerful allies with the Asuras, however, having a Scythe as one isn't awful either." I bit my lip, thinking about our so called allies. "What is it?"
"Nothing." I still needed Arthur to trust them, at least for now, hopefully, it doesn't come to the point where Aldir blows up the Elf Kingdom.
