It made me happy that they thought meeting me was so cool, I was a mere child, but a child with insane abilities. To most by now, I am the person who defeated a company of Alacryans by himself, and took down a Retainer, they all loved me, I gave them hope that we could actually win this war.
I turned the corner and froze when I saw the person I was looking for, a smile crossed my face.
Standing there, speaking to a guard, in their white uniform was one of my favorite people, and as she turned to me, her eyes widened in joy. "Veer!" She exclaimed, and departed from the guard she was talking too.
"Aya." I took a couple steps toward her, but she made it to me first, and hugged me. "It's so good to see you."
I embraced her hug, knowing that she truly did care for me, like a younger brother. "Veer, you need to stop facing off against these strong foes." She pushed me away, and then held my cheeks. "Are you okay? And don't you think about lying to me!"
"I'm fine, Aya." I said, grabbing her arms. "You don't need to worry."
"I'll worry if I want to, I heard Arthur and you fought a Scythe, the King and Queen just informed me." She really did seem worried. "What type of injuries do you have?"
I held my one arm out. "I broke this arm." I then lifted my leg. "And I broke this leg." Her eyes widened as she examined me. "I'm okay now, I'm all healed up, just need to rest for a little."
"Should you even be up and walking right now?" I shrugged, taking her hand off my face, and backed away. "Veer, come on, you shouldn't be up and about."
"I was just running in the training hall." I told her. "Fiona, the person who has been in charge of my rehab says it's important to be moving, at least a little."
"Oh, well, you should still rest."
"I wanted to see you; I had an idea I wanted to try out." I activated "Blood Oath" without her knowing.
"I could have come to you, there was no reason to come see me here." Aya smiled. "I was coming up anyways." She placed a hand on my shoulder, and motioned for me to walk back the way I came from. "Come on, we can walk back together."
"Alright." I said, reaching into her core, and looking for the artifact that was bestowed upon her, I wanted to see if I could remove the limiter Kezess put on it with aether, I didn't know if it was possible with blood magic alone, but it was worth a try. "Where were you?"
"The Forest of Elshire." A place I haven't been to yet, I know in the future I'll have to go there when they make their advances on the Kingdom, that is unless I stop that from happening. "I was helping set up the defenses."
"I see, and how did that go." I couldn't wait to fight alongside Aya, it was going to be so much fun, Arthur, Sylvie, Aya, and me, that's a pretty dangerous team, I wouldn't want to fight us.
"Good, they are still working on it, but I wasn't needed anymore." Aya removed her hand, and then continued to speak. "Tell me about this Scythe, I want to know what type of abilities they had."
"He was pretty powerful." I said, looking up at her. "He had this fire called soulfire, which was able to eat away at mana, not burn things."
"Really?"
"Yeah, he used it to remove my water mana I managed to get inside of him." I really didn't think about that, I'll admit, Cadell out played me there. "He also was able to transform his body into gas, which was cool."
"Haha, cool you say." Aya laughed at me. "How were you able to hit him if he was able to become gas?"
"We really couldn't."
"Then how'd you wound him?"
"He would come out of the gas form, and that's when we were able to land blows." I think maybe three or four, but that's not bad for my first battle with a Scythe. "He also was able to use the same magic as the Retainer I fought; he was able to grow spikes out of the ground."
"Wow, he seems like a powerful opponent." Aya seemed impressed with Cadell's skills. "I'm glad you are okay, besides the broken bones."
"Well, you know what your next mission is?" I asked, curious, if they had told her or not.
"No, why?"
"Arthur, you, and I are going to be destroying an Alacryan camp." I sent her a smile, showing my excitement to be out there in the field with her.
"Is that right?" I nodded my head at her. "I didn't know if they would send us to the same place, so it's a nice surprise." She didn't seem so surprised, but I was happy, so it didn't matter.
"We are going to be able to fight together."
We started to walk up the stairs, back to the first floor where the council room was. "Then those Alacryans have no chance in winning."
"Haha, yeah." I wasn't going to tell her about the plan with Rahdeas yet, I was going to let them do that. "However, there is suspicions that a Retainer might be there, so it won't be an easy fight, but we got this."
"A Retainer you say..." I could see Aya smirking as she looked on ahead, I'm pretty sure she enjoyed torturing her enemies, something I used to relate to, and kinda still do. "I've been dying to fight one to be honest, I know they may be a lot stronger than me, but with Arthur and you there, I feel like I could help."
"Let's just hope that it is a Retainer, and not a Scythe again, because I still doubt, we can take one on." Cadell wasn't really trying when he fought against Arthur and I, we did push him a little, but not completely, which means if he did try, the three of us would be dead in seconds. "I'll let gramps and Aldir explain to you everything, because there is a little more to the plan."
"Alright." Aya turned to me and smiled. "Do you know when this mission is?"
"When Arthur and I are at one hundred percent." I waved my arm that used to be broken. "Which should be soon, I would be ready now, but the medics, and my mother won't let me." I'm sure Elder Virion wouldn't either.
"That makes sense, you should wait until you are one hundred percent before going out into the field." I knew Aya was right, and I understood it. "Which I know you know, it's definitely important for a Lance to be at full strength because everyone relies on us." We made our way on to the first floor.
"Yeah, I know." I knew that everyone was relying on me, well, Arthur and me, and all the Lances. "I'm like happy about being a Lance, and on the other hand I am not." If I wasn't a Lance, and wasn't controlled by anyone, I could go out there and cause may chaos, another reason why I should just go to Alacrya.
"Why aren't you happy? I thought you wanted to be a Lance." Aya told me as we turned the corner down a hallway.
"Oh, I've always wanted to be a Lance, it's just a lot." I admitted. "I'm fine with all the pressure, it's just that I am limited to what I am doing, I have to listen to others."
"Well Veer, you are eleven." Aya said, and I knew where she was going with this. "I know that you are strong, stronger than me, but you still need to listen to your elders, that way you know what you are doing is the right thing."
"Ahh." I sighed, knowing what she was saying was the truth. "I know, Aya, I'm just saying if I didn't have to listen to anyone I could do more, maybe not good things, but still."
"Maybe, but I am happy you are here, you have been like the younger brother I have never had." Aya and I were really close, and our relationship really only started over the last two years, she trained me to use illusion magic, which was something I could never repay back to her, unless I save her life, then I would call it equal.
"Can I ask you something Aya?" I wanted to know her opinion on the war, like if she thought we could win, it wasn't a bad question to ask.
We were getting close to the council room, so I didn't have that much time with her unless I wanted to sit in the meetings ahead with her, which I didn't. "You can ask me anything, Veer."
"What's your opinion on the war? Do you think we have a chance of winning this whole thing?" We turned the corner to where the council room was, the normal guards were standing there in front of the door, blocking the path.
"That's a pretty deep question, Veer, but of course, I have to say, we have a chance of winning." Aya thought we could win this war, which for some reason, knowing everything I did, made me feel good about it. "You already took down a Retainer, Arthur and you fought a Scythe and Survived, they can't get past the wall, it seems to be going pretty well."
"I hope you didn't just jinx us." I knew what was to come, well, to some degree. "I'll make sure to bring the same energy throughout this war, no matter what happens." The only death that happens now from this point is our fathers, which was not going to happen, I was planning on giving him my phoenix bracelet, that way he won't die at the wall.
I wasn't counting Sylvie's death, because she doesn't actually die, even if it is really sad. "It makes me happy to hear that, I know what you are capable of, but have never seen you in the field, so I am curious to see what you do when faced with different choices."
"Different choices?" I asked curiously, not knowing what she meant.
"Like if you should kill someone or not." Oh, I get it, she doesn't fully know that I lose my mind when I fight in battles, she's only seen me slightly lose my mind when I fought against her, or Lance Varay.
"Well, I can say, and I know this isn't a good thing, but I kill any Alacryan I see usually, to be honest, I don't think I let one survive that I have seen." This wasn't something to be proud of, but I guess that's how you look at it.
"I see." Aya said as we stopped in front of the guards.
"Lance Aya, Lance Virion, welcome, Commander Virion and General Aldir are inside." The male elf spoke as he began to open the doors for us.
I really didn't want to speak to Aldir right now, I knew I would say something not needed. "I'm going to go, Aya." I stopped in the doorway. "But I am happy that we will be fighting alongside each other, it truly makes me happy."
"Me too, Veer." She turned, and then took a step toward me. "I'm happy you are okay." She hugged me once again, and I embraced it, not caring that this was the second hug she gave me. "I want to talk with you later after I learn of this plan, okay?"
"Of course." I said, still hugging her, it made me happy that Aya and I have grown this close. "I'll be on the balcony with my parents if you want to talk, just come and get me, I might be in the hallway as well."
"I will." Aya and I separated. "Now, go rest up, you still need to heal before we do anything."
"I'll see you later." I took a step away from the doors, not wanting to go into the council room. "Bye."
"I'll see you later." Aya made her way into the council room, and I started to walk down the hall. I needed to get ready, my body felt fine, and I believe I was being cleared soon.
Hopefully, tomorrow, I can spar someone of decent strength, or multiple people, I need to stretch my legs a little before going back out into the field, and I don't just mean sprinting around the training room, like an actual fight.
I'll go spend some time with my family for now, I hope my dad is out on the balcony now, I can go for some quality time with him.
Like Arthur said, and I said, we don't really know what will happen now, things could be the same, or things could change completely, so we need to be smart, and spend time with our loved ones.
Arthur still has a lot to learn, I haven't told him everything, and now, with Aldir wanting me to go to the land of the Asuras, maybe it's time he knew about their true purpose, but I don't need him running around pissing them off, like I am.
