Chapter 143: The Plan

My Beginning After the EndWords: 11678

(Next Day)

"Veer, you should probably get going." My mother told me as I sat in their room. It was my father, mother, and Ellie.

"I think I have time." I told her, knowing I really didn't, I could sense them in the council room, that's where I need to be going. "Do you guys have to leave today?"

"Yeah, do you have leave? Can't you stay a little longer?" Ellie asked, wanting them to stay as well.  They were leaving for the field again, which made sense since I was fine now.

"No guys, we have to leave today." My father told us. "Veer is back to normal, and we were only in the field for a week, so it is time to head back."

"Come on." Ellie insisted.

"Sorry, El." My mother sat next to her and started to rub the back of her head. "But Veer, we should say our goodbyes, because I know for a fact you are late for the meeting."

I was sitting on their couch; my dad was packing up his mana ring. "I know." I said and then got up, she was right, I needed to get going. "I love you guys."

"Love you." My father said as he came over and hugged me. "Be safe on this next mission, I don't know everything, but I know it's going to be dangerous."

"Yeah." I answered, knowing it was going to be. He released me, and my mother came over to me. "Love you."

"I love you too." My mother said as I embraced her hug. "Be safe, and remember, listen to your brother."

"I will." I smiled as we continued to hug. "Don't worry, you should have to come back to the castle so soon." I ended up in the medical wing it seemed like a lot.

"As long as you are okay afterwards, I am okay coming to see you whenever." She released me, it felt good to hear that, even if I knew it already. "Now, get going, you are already late."

"Fine." I sighed and started to leave their room. "Love you two." I opened the door, and left, making my way down the hall.

I was wearing my black robe, with my normal armor set on, which was basically nothing, I had my black tights on, and finally grey shorts.

I can't wait to be out in the field, I know I was just there, but it was only for a mere moment. I slaughtered a lot of people, which was entertaining, not good, but fun for me.

I arrived at the door to the council room. "General Virion, they have been waiting." A guard bowed, then opened the door for me.

"I know, I know." Shrugging, knowing I was a little late. I walked into the room, inside was Rahdeas, Elder Virion, Arthur, Sylvie, Aldir, and Aya. "Sorry, I am late."

"It's fine, Veer, we haven't started yet." Elder Virion waved for me to sit down next to Arthur, it was the only seat left at the table.

I took my seat and faced Arthur for a second. "Mom and dad are leaving, if you didn't say your goodbyes."

"I did already." Arthur told me.

"Let's get started." Elder Virion spoke, and everyone turned to him. "There has been a report that Alacryan spies have been spotted somewhere on the border near Elenoir and Sapin, in the north." I'm pretty sure that's where Ashber is, my knowledge of the locations in this world, which was now my world, was horrible. "We are going to be sending you three Lances to investigate."

"All three?" Rahdeas said questioningly, this was not a mission that needed three Lances, but there aren't many that do yet.

"Yes, additionally, they will be going into Ashber, a town in Sapin, to investigate another matter." Elder Virion responded to the dwarve, and honestly if no one else was here, and we didn't need him, I would have made him gargle on his own blood. "There has been reports of the slave trade there, and I would like them to put an end to it."

"During a war?" Rahdeas asked again, questioning Elder Virion's words.

"Of course." Elder Virion stated. "And we are sending three Lances, because the missions and timing of the war are getting more serious, and we need to keep everyone safe."

"Valid point." Rahdeas said, and I could feel the serpent swimming around in my core, trying to push anger throughout my body. "There has been some movement from Darv, more soldiers are joining our side."

"That's good to hear." Aldir spoke up. "We will need them if we have any hope of winning." Tch, Aldir speaks like we are together, but the more and more I think about it, the more it looks like I am going to be seeing Lord Indrath.

"I agree." Rahdeas turned to Arthur and me. "I recently heard about what happened, I'm glad to hear that you two are okay."

"Thank you." Arthur spoke for us, I wasn't thanking this man, if anything he should be thanking me for not killing him right here. "I'm glad as well, seeing that you are making advancements in Darv."

Rahdeas nodded his head. "Back to the mission, you three will head to a place three miles outside of Ashber, and make your way inward." Elder Virion was speaking now. "You will need to disguise yourself, Arthur, you said you had an idea for that, so I'll leave that to you when you get there."

"I do." Arthur nodded, I was curious to see what that idea was, if it was the same one from the novel, I'll be slightly pissed.

"When will they be leaving? I would love to speak with you some more Arthur." Rahdeas asked my brother; what the hell did he have to say.

"I have them departing tonight in the dark." Elder Virion told him. "Which means you can speak after we are done here." Actually, it was probably about Elijah, he might want to play mind games with Arthur, make him trust him even more.

"Perfect." Rahdeas sent Arthur a smile, and my brother responded by nodding his head.

"I would love to chat, as well, which brings me to something." Arthur turned to Elder Virion; I had no clue where this was going. "If it doesn't bother you, I would like to speak to the Retainer you have down in the dungeon." Oh, I did not see that coming at all, he wants to speak to Uto.

"Why?" Elder Virion asked, a serious question, why did he?

"I want to see what he is like." That was such a lie, he had some other purpose, I just couldn't put my finger on it. "That's all, and then afterwards, I'll meet you in your room to speak, Rahdeas." Arthur is going to go to his room, ill, what the hell, a smile crossed my face for some reason.

"Virion." Aldir spoke, and I snapped out of my thoughts. "Are you sure you are up to go out into the field?"

"Yes." I answered.

"Good."

"This should be an easy mission for the three, or actually, I should say four of you." Elder Virion said. "Just be discrete about who you are, I'm looking at you Veer, and make sure if you do see any Alacryan spies, you either take them into custody, or kill them."

"You won't have any backup out there." Aldir stood up from his chair, and examined Arthur and I, Aya was standing behind Elder Virion, well, sort of to the side of him. "If a Scythe does show up again, you must do whatever is needed to make sure Virion does not get captured."

I stood up immediately, knowing I would not let that happen. "Woah, listen up, if there is a Scythe there again, I'm fighting." I insisted, I could feel Rahdeas's eyes on me, like he was thinking about something. "If anything, we'll just retreat."

"That little trick you pulled on Scythe Cadell, won't work again." Aldir told me, he acts as if that is my only trick, and my only option. "Arthur, Aya, if it comes down to it, and I understand this is hard, you cannot let them get Virion."

"That won't happen." Arthur stood up next to me. "Veer will be returning back with us when we finish our mission, I promise all of you that."

"I too, will not let anything happen to him." Aya spoke for the first time. "They will have to kill me before they take Veer with them."

"Haha, Aya, let's not talk like that." I said, waving my arms. "No one needs to die for me, I am very capable of taking care of myself."

"Oh, we know." Eldr Virion shook his head with a grin. "You are now, the strongest fighter in this war, on our side, and we cannot lose you." Arthur turned to me, and nodded his head, agreeing with him. "Which means, we need to take precautions for your safety, not because of your age, but because you are a target."

"Hmm." That was not totally a bad feeling, being a target because I was that strong. "I guess you are right, but I am fine with it, being a target, I'll fight anyone, you know that."

"I do." Elder Virion seemed both pleased and scared by this. "But you have to be smart still."

"I'll make sure he is safe." Arthur added more. "With me there, even if he is stronger than me, I'm his older brother, meaning it's my responsibility to get him out of there alive."

"I won't let anything happen as well." A voice sitting on Arthur's seat spoke as we both stood, it was Sylvie, she was now looking at me with her fox eyes. "He will be safe with us."

"Thanks, Sylvie." I smiled at her, and she faced forward. "So, what, all we are doing is rooting out spies, there are not going to be any Scythes there, nor Retainers, so we are fine, there is no reason to be worried about my safety."

"I wouldn't say that Virion, you never know." Elder Virion shrugged his arms. "You don't want to jinx yourself, and have one show up there, and harm someone."

"Commander Virion is right, Virion, it's always safe to think ahead." Rahdeas spoke to me, and I felt the urge to conjure an ice dagger and slide it into his chest. "But you can't predict everything." Oh, this shit was about to go down.

I felt my hand start to shake, but it was stopped as Sylvie jumped onto my head. "I'm going to take my leave now; I don't think there is any more to discuss." Arthur told everyone in the room. "Sylvie wants to stay with you, Veer, while I speak with Uto, if that's okay?"

"Of course, it is." I answered.

"I'll come with you." Elder Virion said, standing up, and Arthur and him made their way out of the council room. I followed behind them with Sylvie on my head, I was trying to leave the room without talking to anyone else, but as I was making my way out, Rahdeas joined me, walking by my side.

"Virion, I would also love to talk to you before you head out." He said to me, the dwarve walked slightly below me, I would say no one would know if I killed him right here, but let's be honest, everyone would know I did it.

"Oh, really, about what?" I could feel Sylvie scratching the side of my head, most likely trying to get me to stay calm.

"Your blood magic, I'm curious on how it works." He was smiling at me, this man was excellent at lying, totally would have fooled me if I didn't already know everything about him. "The only Blood Deviant to ever exist, I have to know more."

"I see, I'm sorry, but that's top secret." I sent him a smile, playing his game. "Haha, I'm just playin." I reached up and started to pet Sylvie's head. "How about we talk after the mission, that way I can have some alone time beforehand alone, I need to get my game face on."

"That sounds fine to me." Rahdeas said, I was surprised he didn't push any harder. "I'll see you later." He turned down a hall away from the direction I was going in.

After a couple of seconds, Sylvie spoke up. "You need some alone time beforehand?"

"Haha, shut up." I told the dragon jokingly on my head. "It was the first thing that came to mind to lie out of having to talk to him."

"You couldn't have just said no?"

"Ehh, it would have looked bad." I thought so at least. "Where do you want to go? My parents are gone, so we can either head to the balcony and just sit there or get some rest in my room."

"I suggest a nap." I feel like this dragon is always sleeping, but not gonna lie, I have been up a lot in these past three days, planning, rehabbing, training, helping Arthur absorb mana, I rarely slept more than five hours, which was okay because of being in white core, but sometimes you just need some rest.

"Alright, a nap it is."
