I flew through sky, towards the Retainer I had to fight alone, I'll take whoever I have to down for Arthur, Veer, and Lance Aya, they were counting on me. Veer had no clue who this was, which worried me, he said he knew most of the Retainers and Scythes.

I was also worried for Veer, he was taking on one hundred and sixty Alacryans by himself, which could not be good for his mental health, I don't want anything to happen to him. I want Veer to stay the same person he is now, nice, caring, funny, and so much more.

'Arthur, I'm arriving now.' I thought to him as I landed on the ground, in front of the Retainer in an open field.

'Be careful.' Arthur thought back to me, and I could sense the fear in him from here, he must have arrived at his Retainer as well.

"The dragon." The big bulky Retainer spoke to me as I stood in my dragon form twenty yards from him. "I was told you would be here, I want to make my first appearance in this war memorable, so taking down a dragon should do that." The Retainer had giant muscles, red eyes, black armor, but his horns were pretty small.

"And which Retainer might you be?" I spoke to him, wondering who he might be, this way I could inform Veer after I take him down.

The red eyes of the Vritra in front of me looked a little puzzled. "I was told you could talk, but seeing it in person, hahaha." He laughed at the end, speaking in a very authoritative tone. "I am Retainer Erie." He grinned at me. "So, what's your name dragon."

"It doesn't matter!" I shouted, forming a beam of pure mana in my mouth, then shot it at the Retainer, he stood still, and a dark black mist formed around his arms and fist.

"Rude." The Retainer said as the beam of energy hit him dead on as he brought his arms up in defense, and the energy I shot was gone, like he absorbed it. "Too much power." He smiled, then threw an air punch at me, releasing a similar, but slightly weaker attack at me.

I flew up into the air, dodging it, not wanting to get hit and see what it could do to me. He was able to absorb my attack, but how, it has to be the mist around his arms. The Retainer just smiling at me. I formed another beam, shot it, and as he raised his hands, the energy went into him, and he redirected it at me, forcing me to dodge once again.

As I dodged, I charged the Retainer, I'm larger, I can overpower him. I went to pick him up, but as I did, he sidestepped my claws, grabbed my tail, and all of sudden my back hit a tree next to him as he threw me.

I crashed through countless trees, not hurt because of my scales, he was going to have to do better than that. I stood on my four feet as I felt him start to build up mana inside of his body, getting ready to launch at me.

The Retainer appeared before me, throwing a punch at my head, he didn't care that I was a dragon, he was fighting me straight up like I was a human. I went it for the bite, but as I did, like he had control over gravity, my head was pulled to his fist, and the Retainer clobbered me to the ground.

I quickly got up, but his fist hit me again, and again, I swung around my tail, bringing it to his back legs, knocking him forward, then brought my claw to his chest, slicing him slightly as he moved past me.

We stood apart after our small exchange. "Hmm." The Retainer looked down at his small wound, and then like it never happened, it healed, and I watched the mist around his arms diminish just slightly. "Damned claws."

I flapped my wings, built up mana, and shot at him, swinging my claws, the Retainer ducked under the first one, then jumped over the second one, and went to grab my wing, but I flapped it, knocking him backwards slightly.

I swung my claw again, the Retainer met it with a punch of his own, and as my claw connected with his fist, I felt a little amount of my mana disappeared, the mist around arms grew. He swung his other arm as our punches bounced off one another.

I swatted his arm down, summoned mana into my mouth, and shot it at his head, but my attack changed course. The beam of mana went directly to his arms, and then he aimed both his arms up at me and released the same attack I just sent at him.

Not having enough time to dodge, it hit me directly in the chest, but I managed to stay up, being as the attack wasn't as strong as mine. A fist came for my face, I bit his arm before he reached me, and began to shake him.

The Retainer brought his other arm up, and swatted at my nose, forcing me to drop him. As he fell, he shot up, punching me in my chest, my scales managed to deflect any harm.

We were evenly matched, he focuses on up close battles, but my scales are too tough to be simply punched through, and I focus on long distance attacks, and his magic is able to absorb it.

I could feel pain spread out through Arthur's body. 'Arthur?'

'I'm fine, Sylv, focus on your battle.' He spoke with his normal tone, but I could sense he was in pain. I know Veer said he beats this Jagrette person, but I still worry about him.

I swung my claw, he dodged, brought a fist up to my neck, I went in for the bite, but he spun away from me, throwing a punch into my body, doing nothing to me. I whipped my tail at him, sent a beam of pure mana at him simultaneously, and as the energy got to his arms, my tail connected with his ribcage, sending him flying into the trees.

I stared down at the Retainer as he got to his feet, the mist around his arms bigger than before. The place I hit his armor slightly cracked, but seemingly unharmed, this guy was tough. He shot himself at me, swinging his fist at my scales, I allowed it to hit my so that I could bite him, but upon contacted, I realized I screwed up.

The area he hit somewhat cracked with his blow, knocking me back, his strength increased, it had to have been because he absorbed more mana into that mist from me. He came again, I swung my claw at him, forcing him to move to the side, but as he did, I whipped my tail around again, this time though, instead of hitting him directly, he brought a fist to my tail, which hurt.

Erie, this Retainer swung again at my back leg, but I lifted it up before he could hit me, then he shot into the air, and hit my belly, knocking the wind out of me slightly. How is he able to hold this strength if I was the one who gave it to him, I flew in the air, and the Retainer stayed on the ground, staring up at me.

"Come on, shoot some more mana my way!" He said cockily while smiling. "Stupid little dragon."

I kept on flying, not knowing what to do, he was stronger somehow, but I watched as the mist slowly diminished again. I see, he absorbs mana, but isn't able to hold it forever, he has a time limit with it, however, his strength increases drastically if he keeps it around his fist.

Fine, I can't let him absorb any mana from me then, should be easy. I flew down at him from the sky, attempting to grab the Retainer, he swung out of the way, went to grab my left back leg, but I sent a kick into his chest.

The Retainer took a couple steps back, but quickly regained himself as I swung my claws at him. I hit air, but I kept on my attack as we fought in a small opening, somewhat created by me crushing a few trees.

I swung again and again, hitting nothing as the Retainer kept on backing up fro me. He was grinning like this was enjoyable for him, which from what I have heard from everyone, he probably was.

A fist came up after he dodged one of my attacks, the mist drew my head towards it, but I quickly flapped my wings, so that it didn't connect with me, then swung my claw towards his head as I came back down on the Retainer.

I scraped his mask, hit the ground on all fours, received a blow to the chest, but it didn't do much even without me reinforcing myself with mana. To heal my wounds, I used my aether arts to rejuvenate my body.

I threw my claw at him, driving him back and onto the ground. I held my front paw on him as he laid on the ground smirking, and then drove my claws into his arm, and into his flesh. "You think this hurts, dragon?" He said, and that is when I felt my mana start to pour out of me. "You see now, don't you?"

I quickly removed my claw, but I did leave a few marks on him, blood covered his armor on his side. He can absorb mana in me, simply by me touching him, that is ridiculous. The wounds healed, but that meant the mist covering his arms diminished once again.

This was fine, I just had to cut him at a faster speed, it's not like he hit me at all that time. I was the one who managed to land the hit on him, so we are still fine. The Retainer was on his feet, bouncing up and down, like he was getting ready for something.

He vanished before me, appearing by my side, throwing a punch into me. I quickly swung my wing at him, hitting him, then swung a claw which connected with his fist, but I managed to move it away from him before he absorbed any mana inside of me.

I jumped up and went to land my entire dragon weight on him, trying to crush his bones, but as I came down, Erie rolled out of the way, and threw another punch into my side, connecting this time.

The punch knocked me into a tree on the outskirt of the opening we fought in, but it didn't knock me over. I was still fine, no damage was taken, but he absorbed some of my mana that time.

The mist began to grow slightly, and the Retainer launched himself at me, swinging with more power than before. I flapped both of my wings, creating a gust of wind at him, and pushed the Retainer backwards, but he kept on with his attack.

When he finally got to me, he swung his right fist into my head as he jumped up into the air, but I leaned my long neck back so that he went right past me. He landed, swung his left hand, I raised my front foot, making him miss again, and then I clawed at his back, cutting it slightly, forcing him to use the mana he collected to heal himself.

"I can't lose!" Erie shouted out as a dark mist started to cloud around his whole entire body. "I didn't think I needed to use my full strength, but I guess I was wrong." The mist was now everywhere on him, does that mean everything increases? His strength? Speed?

I didn't respond, I just flew at him as the mist swayed in the air around him, I swung my claws, and he vanished before me at a speed faster than before.

I turned to my side, and watched as his fist collided with my ribs, sending me twenty yards into the trees. That one hurt, unlike before, I laid there in my dragon form as I watched him start to walk over to me.

I slowly got up, feeling the backlash of that last attack, shooting my aether technique all throughout my body, trying to regain my strength that one punch took from me.

Erie vanished once again, appearing before me, without hesitation, I swung my claw at him, forcing him to dodge the attack. He jumped into the air, and I flapped my wings toward him, sending him backwards, landing on his feet.

I don't know what to do, it's like every time I hurt him, I end up healing him as well.
