I rolled out of bed, not feeling the greatest, and as I did, I noticed a sleeping girl on my couch. It was Sylvie, she was out cold, I don't remember her being in here last night, actually, I don't remember the party that much.
I got to my feet, and made my way into the bathroom, feeling terrible, my stomach felt like shit, my head was spinning, and for some reason, I felt something on the back of my throat. I got to the toilet, bent over, and whatever was in my throat came out as I threw up.
"Shit." I said out loud as I finished and stood in front of the sink. I turned it on, grabbed some water, and splashed my face and hair, I probably looked like shit at the moment. I washed my hair quickly and tied it up into a ponytail. I needed to have it cut still but haven't gotten around to it.
I walked out of the bathroom and made my way to Sylvie. She was out cold, I must have kept her up while I was a little drunk, I don't really remember to be honest. I slowly bent down, and picked her up off the couch, making sure not to wake her up. I carried her over to my bed, and placed her down slowly, letting her sleep some more.
I rubbed my eyes, and then walked out of the room, into the hallway, where no one was. I had no clue what time it was, but it was decently early, maybe like eight in the morning. I usually wake up at six, so this is a change for me.
I walked down the hall, having no idea where I was going, or what I was going to do, but that was until Arthur's door opened, and he stepped out looking at me. "Hey there bud, how are you feeling this morning?"
"Shut up." I said to my brother with a smile. "I don't even remember the party, or what happened."
"Yeah, you had a lot to drink." Arthur came up to me. "Let's go get something in your stomach, you'll feel much better afterwards."
"Okay." The two of us started to walk towards the kitchen. "Did anything happen last night that I should know about?"
"No, not really, just that Sylvie took care of you the whole night." Arthur placed a hand on my shoulder. "I got a mental message from her, saying that after you took your shower, you refused to go to bed, and she basically had to force you to keep quiet."
"Oh, jeez." I said, holding my hand to my head. "I probably made myself look so stupid in front of so many people." I didn't really care though, it felt good to just let go, and have fun. "Not that I really care though."
"I know you don't, that is why I let you go." Arthur replied. "And to be honest, not too many people noticed, just the people you are close to. Sylv kept you away from the higher ranking nobles, which helped I think."
"Tch." We turned the corner, heading down another hallway. "I do have memories of one thing." I grinned at my brother. "You confessed your feelings, didn't you?"
"I did." Arthur smiled as he looked forward. "I had to, knowing everything you told me, and the future that might happen. Tessia needed to know how I felt, so I did what I had to."
"Really?" I respected him for doing that, I knew it was hard for him, talking about things like that. "Congrats, what is in store now for the future King and Queen?"
"We agreed to keep it under wraps for a little, so don't go around telling people just yet." Arthur and I stood in front of the kitchen doors. "But we are, I guess we are, a couple." That was nice to hear, I didn't know what this meant, but at least they were happy for now.
"I bet you didn't see that coming." I said as we entered the kitchen, and a maid came over to us.
"How may I help you two?" She asked, it was a maid named Emma, she was an elf, and very kind.
"Emma, can you please get my little brother breakfast, he had a rough night." Arthur spoke for me, and the maid smiled as she looked at me.
"Of course, anything for you?" Emma asked.
"No, I am fine." Arthur smiled, and Emma left us. "Come on." Arthur and I found a seat and waited for the meal to come out. "I didn't see it coming, but before the party, knowing I was going to see her, something sparked in me, and for some reason, I felt like I had to tell her how I felt." He paused, looking down at the table. "If she is captured, and Agrona does what he wants with her, I would never forgive myself."
"It won't happen, don't worry." I rested my head on the table, still spinning a little. "When do you stop spinning? I don't like it."
"That is what is called a hangover." Arthur laughed a little. "It will pass in time, just eat up." Emma made her way to us with a plate of eggs and a meat of some sort and placed it in front of me.
"Here you go." She sent me a smile, then went on. "If there is anything else you two need, please just call my name."
"Thanks." I said, picking up a fork, and digging in as she left the two of us.
"We don't know what to expect anymore." Arthur spoke as I ate. "Tess might not be captured, or she might be captured earlier, or at the same time. Everything could change, you said I only defeated Uto in the previous battle, we just defeated three Retainers, what does that mean?"
I swallowed, then looked at him. "Well, it could mean various things, but it isn't anything to worry about. We know we lose anyways if we don't change things, so there is no harm in what we are doing."
"Yeah, except more people could die."
"That's dark, Arthur." I said jokingly. "You are right, but like you said, we don't know what will happen, we just got to keep going forward." I don't even know what is next for me, besides leaving to see Kezess. "Just be happy that you are with Tess."
"I am, don't get me wrong, it feels good to get that off my chest." I placed my fork down and drank the water Emma gave me as well. "I just worry about her now even more, knowing that we are together."
I nodded my head. "I understand." I could feel the movement of powerful beings in the council room. "Damn, they want me heading to Epheotus today, that sucks." Windsom and Aldir were in the council room with other members already.
"Is your plan all ready?" Arthur knew I didn't want to go.
"Yeah, it is." I answered as I finished my meal, placing my fork on my plate. "I've been thinking, do you think I am making the right decision? Getting to go to Epheotus even knowing what I know is pretty cool, I know it isn't really that safe, but I think for now it is."
"No, you are, hearing everything from you, proves to me that your plan is the way to go." I nodded as he spoke, that was what I figured. "Anyways, Sylvie and you got along quite well last night."
"Did we?" I asked, only remembering some parts from last night. "I remember leaning on her most of the night, but that is pretty much it."
"The two of you were pretty much attached at the hip." Arthur gave me a serious look. "I'm pretty sure Sylv likes you, Veer, that was why she made sure you were safe last night. You remember what the Retainer said, and I don't know how you feel, but make sure you don't hurt her."
"I won't." I answered him as the two of us got up from our seats. "We aren't a couple like Tess and you, so there is no need to speak like that." We exited the kitchen and entered the hallway. "I've never had a relationship in my life, so it's weird." I laughed slightly, thinking about King Grey. "I am sort of like you I guess, in a way."
"Sort of." Arthur shrugged as we headed back towards our rooms. "Where was Sylv?"
"She passed out on my couch, so I moved her to my bed after I woke up." I smiled, thinking about how she stayed in there to make sure nothing happened to me. "What happened at the party last night while I wasn't there? It really doesn't matter, but if anything interesting happened, I would like to know."
"Besides people examining the bodies of the Retainers, nothing really, well, you did have an encounter with Trodius, Jasmine's father." Arthur told me, and I was at a loss for words, because I don't remember ever speaking with him.
"Did I kill him?" Arthur shook his head. "Damn, that would have made this hangover better." I don't even know what the man really looks like, which sucks. If I meet him at the wall, I might have to take his eyes from him.
"You can't kill him for things he didn't do yet." Arthur told me. "Remember, I am taking care of the wall situation, so don't worry. I already have the train idea up and running, and I told gramps to make sure mom and dad where no were near the wall. I think they are stationed in Slore at the moment, which I know isn't the safest, but right now, I don't think Alacrya will be attacking there."
"I don't even know if they ever do." I didn't know, but obviously, they controlled Slore after we lost the war. "If you are handling the wall, I'll handle Zestier and Elshire Forest, I got plans and I don't think you can do much there anyways."
"I agree." Arthur actually agreed with me, wow, I could not believe that. "You aren't fighting any battle though without me, not until I know you are sane enough to be trusted."
"You know I am sane enough, Arthur." I was, I was sane enough, I controlled myself decently well during our last battle. "And I am pretty sure when I go back into the field, I'll have to fight without you."
"I'll think about it." Arthur and I were walking in the halls now. "If you are going to Epheotus today, don't do anything stupid like pissing Kezess off. I know you might not like him, but he is one of the strongest beings in this world."
"He may be the strongest." I didn't know who could rival him at the moment. "I know I can't piss him off, I already know what I am going to do."
"And what is that?"
"I'm going to have my clone not give a shit about anything." I spoke honestly. "He isn't going to be disrespectful; he's going to act like an eleven year old would, that is all. I think it's pretty reasonable since they are forcing me to come to another continent against my own wishes at this age."
"That works as long as you don't anger them." I nodded at my brother. "I don't think you ever told me, how is Windsom in the novel? Should we hate him as well?"
"Yeah, we should, but then again, he is just a lap dog, controlled by Kezess really." He was a coward, I remember reading the Taci fight, and getting pissed that he just showed up with Taci, and then left, not helping at all. "Aldir does abandon Kezess, but that is after he destroys the Elven Kingdom, but Windsom, he never doubts his lord's words, so yeah, we hate him."
"That is a problem we don't have to deal with for a while, so let's not think about it." Arthur said as we turned down our hallway where our bedrooms were. "Maybe Aldir won't destroy the Kingdom if we don't lose the war, right?"
"I mean, yeah, he wouldn't if we win, there would be no need to do it." I answered honestly, and that is when Arthur's bedroom door opened, causing a smirk to cross my face. "Hi, Tess." I said as she stepped out into the hall wearing what looked like Arthur's baggy clothing, her eyes widened as she saw us.
"Alright, into your room." Arthur nudged me into my room, closing the door behind me before I could even say anything. "We don't talk about this!" He shouted on the other side of the door, and then everything went silent.
I only stared at the sleeping Sylvie on my bed, and realized another reason why she stayed in here last night. At least I thought, I don't even know what to say, this, this is, oh my, no, Arthur wouldn't.
