(Two Weeks Later)
I fell to the ground, spun, beheaded a soldier, plunged my sword into another's core, had blood raining down from the sky, piercing through the armor of the enemy that numbered over seven hundred before the start of the fight.
There were about one hundred soldiers, and sadly, we lost some of ours, Callias wanted our men to fight, and I figured that I should let them. Callias was leading our force of one hundred men, that came from the side, while I attacked from a different angle.
I could feel that Callias was alive still, which was good, the Alacryans were too busy focusing on the me, the loan soldier, wreaking havoc throughout their force. I jump over a blade coming for my head, dodged a spear in the air, and then landed on the ground, cutting off a soldier's arm, then killed him by having his blood explode.
I manipulated the blood in the air, and shot it out into the crowd, conjured an ice dagger, through it into a guy's throat, deflected a blade, deflected another, then spun and sent my blood sword into a female soldier's head, killer her.
I pushed outwards, and the force I used had the blood in my enemies exit the back of their bodies, killing over thirty of them. I watched as Callias's fire sword sliced through one of the last enemies.
The last ten fell to their knees, pleading, surrendering, and I rolled my eyes, I rather just kill them, why would they surrender. I conjured a giant ball of blue fire, causing everyone to look up at it, then I shot it at the portal frame, destroying it upon impact.
I faced Callias who was now holding his blade to a soldier's throat, looking at me. "What should we do with them?" I deactivated blood monarch but kept blood oath activated. "We can't kill them." He sheathed his sword and placed it in his ring.
A Division of soldiers led by someone I don't know, was currently heading our way, Elder Virion was sending them to regroup with us, it was a smaller division, but not as small as ours. It numbered in the thousands; I could feel them getting closer to our camp.
I sighed. "Honestly, I don't care." I turned toward the elf staring at me. "Melody, send word to Commander Virion, tell him we have ten Alacryans here, surrendering to us, well, me." I killed most of them.
"I'll handle it." Melody answered.
"Thanks." I replied. "Callias, let Melody take care of them." I told him and looked up at the hole the demolition team created. "Have everyone meet back at the camp, everyone is dead here, there is no point in staying." I paused for a second, and then went on. "Have someone collect our dead, and bring them back, we have to respect our dead." I knew this would happen, and this is why I wanted to fight by myself, but I guess a few dead isn't awful, it got some of them experience.
"Okay." Callias answered, and I flew up into the air, and landed near the conjurers and archers that backed me up in that fight. "We are heading back, victory is ours." I nodded, and they all started to cheer, this was getting normal for them.
We were close to the Elven Kingdom now, I would say another week or two out, maybe a little longer before he hit the border, but we will see. I started to walk towards our camp in the distance through our soldiers, they cleared the path as I did.
I was drenched in blood like usual, and to be honest, I was tired, we've been doing this for the past three weeks, finding small forces, and taking them out. This was the fourth Alacryan camp we took out, and the biggest, but only by two hundred.
I think we need to slow down though, eventually they'll see us coming, and have a trap ready for me there. We know what Agrona is capable of, and we know that their force is much larger, and they have way more mages.
I have five clones currently out there, searching for more camps, two of them already came across two more, these camps were bigger, we were close to the Elven Kingdom, the one numbered in the thousands, and the other was about two thousand, we only have three hundred soldiers, and we lost about ten to twenty today.
The soldiers were chatting behind me, some were talking about how awesome I was, and others were talking about how they felt useless, but were grateful for what I was doing. I think that's a win, the soldiers respected me, it's pretty much what I wanted from the start, they didn't care that I was eleven.
Arthur is undergoing training right now, I think that it's pretty useless, I mean, he is in white core already, and he is the best swordsman I know. I don't see how training can help him anymore, just like for me, I don't need to train, there's nothing to learn, well, except for the the abilities the Leviathan told me about.
I could feel the Division arriving near our camp, they were already setting up their tents near us. I turned around and looked at the nearest soldier. "Send word to Callias that the other division arrived."
"Yes sir." He bowed and left to go and tell Callias.
It only took us about five to ten minutes to arrive back at our camp, and when we did, I could sense someone in my tent. Who possibly has the balls to enter my tent without my permission? I don't care if it is a Captain of a Division larger than mine.
There were also guards standing in front, and as I got closer, they stood at attention. "Lance Virion, it is an honor, Captain Geist is in your tent waiting." I nodded, I didn't know who that was, but who cares.
I stepped in, and sitting at my desk was a man, around my father's age, he had silver armor on, covering his whole body. He had brown hair, and he was very muscular, but I laughed. "Hahaha." It was the goddam professor that Arthur defeated during our time at school. "Hahaaha." The man just stood there, not knowing what to do. "You're a captain?"
The man stood and bowed. "Lance Virion, yes, I am the captain of this Division." He made his way around my desk and stood in front of me. "I am here to help assist you in any upcoming battles, we have one thousand and five hundred troops, plus your three hundred."
I stopped laughing as he spoke seriously to me. "Damn, that's funny." I said, and then went on. "I thank you for joining us, but I should let you know, you are no longer in command of your division, I am." His men, were now mine, his face dropped. "You may be one of the stronger mages here, but your word is now meaningless."
"Lance Virion, I was sent here to assist you, I didn't mean to disrespect you, if I did." The man said, and then introduced himself. "I am Captain Geist, and I know my orders, I know my division is now part of your Blood Legion, and I am excited to work with you, and fight by your side."
Wait, was this the same man? He seems wiser, did Arthur beat some sense into him that day? "Woah, sorry, umm, okay, at least you know." I tilted my head and made my way around the desk. "Can you give the report on your division? How many mages? Their specialty?"
I sat down in my chair and looked up at the man as he spoke. "We have twenty mages, myself included, ten conjurers, and ten augmenters." Damn, that is a small number of mages, I had thirty within my three hundred, that's insane. "But my division is battle tested, we fought in a couple of battles, and won all, however, we lost half our men."
"I like to hear the part about you being battle tested, but I really don't want to lose half the troops." I shrugged. "But I know that is a possibility, depending on what we come across." The force I commanded now numbered over a thousand, that's pretty nice, I love how Elder Virion is trusting me. "The Captain of the Blood Legion is named Callias, you'll be working with him, he's also a fire elemental augmenter, like you, so I am sure you'll get along."
"How did you know I used the fire element?" Geist asked me. "I remember fighting your brother, but I have heard a lot more about you, did he tell you about me?"
I shook my head. "Dude, the story about you getting your ass kicked by a student traveled around the whole school that day." I smiled. "I heard you used fire there, but now, you losing to Arthur, that seems realistic now." It was realistic before, but I won't say that to him.
"I guess so." He replied. "You know you are covered in blood, sir, right?" I looked at myself, and bobbed my head, seeing that I was covered in blood still, I never washed up.
"Haha." I laughed. "It feels so natural on me, I'm just so used to it." I stood up, seeing that I got some blood on the chair I was sitting in. "Make sure your tent is set up near here."
"I will." He replied.
"I have final say, but I know I am young, so I have the older, more experienced people, help advise me." Even though I really haven't been listening to them, except for today where I allowed soldiers to assist in the battle with me on the ground. "I thought you were gonna be a dick, but you aren't, so I would like for you to help out." I was being nice to him, he was a yellow core soldier, he could be useful.
"I'm thankful for the opportunity." He spoke as he bowed once again. "I can't wait to fight alongside you, I already know of your two victories in the last week, with such a small force, that is amazing."
I shrugged, about to leave the tent to wash myself up, and that is when a blood signature entered the atmosphere, causing me to smile. "I can't promise you'll fight alongside me, just because those two victories, I fought by myself on the ground, the battle today was the first one I fought with allies on the ground."
"Alright, whatever you decide will work for me." He answered and continued to speak. "I'll be seeing you then, Lance Virion, will we be moving out at some point today?'
"No, we just fought, and you just arrived, I would like to rest here, and move out in about three to four days, maybe a little longer." The blood signature was getting closer, flying through the sky I believed. "I am going to go wash up, if you need me, just ask." I nodded at him and left my tent.
He left behind me, but went into a different direction, the guards that were standing in front of my tent, stayed there for some reason, maybe now since our force was larger, they were there for my protection.
I made my way to a clear opening where I wasn't near anyone outside of camp, I conjured water in the air, above my head, and then brought it down on me, washing the blood out of my hair and off my face.
Blood fell off my cloak and onto the ground, and I just kept on going, washing up. I was planning over the next three days, now that I knew I would be safe, I was going to create three white core clones. I need to be utilizing them more, it takes a lot to create them, but if I know I am safe, I should try.
I stopped conjuring water and started to use wind magic to dry myself off, and as I did that, I looked up into the sky at the approaching figure, a smile crept onto my face.
I finished drying myself off and ran a hand through my ashy brown hair that I never had cut. I took a hair tie I had in my pocket, and tied my hair up, getting it off my forehead.
