(One Week Later)
I woke up to my mother shaking me. "It's time to go." I rolled away from her. "Veer, wake up."
I slowly lifted my head off of my pillows. "It's morning already?"
"Yeah, get changed dear, your carriage is here." My mother placed the battle mage Xyrus Academy uniform on my bed and left.
I got out of bed and washed my face, then changed into my uniform. Arthur was going as a scholar student, whereas Elijah and I were battle mages. I asked to be placed in the higher classes, otherwise they were going to be extremely boring.
I made my way to the main hall, where my family was saying their goodbyes already to Arthur and Elijah. "Here he is." Ellie had the bow on her back, that she got from Tessia.
"I'm ready." I told them as I started to hug everyone.
As I said my goodbyes and got into the carriage, my mom left me with one last comment. "Veer, I swear if you burn down that school." This made Ellie and my father laugh. Uncle Vincent acted like it was a possibility, and Aunty Tabitha nodded.
"Mom!" I said as I closed the door.
"Are you excited, Veer?" Elijah asked me.
I sighed. "No."
"Why?"
"Who know?" I looked at Arthur. "I can't believe you are actually going as a Scholar."
"I have no need to fight." Arthur answered honestly.
"We both know you're going to end up in trouble somehow." Elijah chimed in.
It was about a twenty minute ride, but as we got there, we got out of the carriage and started walking into the school. I could feel the eyes on me already for being so young.
"Don't mind them." Elijah placed a hand on my shoulder. "We got your back." He smiled and gave me a thumbs up. "Arthur and I will beat up anyone who tries to bully you."
"Elijah, he can do that on his own." Arthur said deadpan.
"True."
"That kid has to be like seven years old." A student said, and I turned and glared at them. They immediately stopped looking at me.
We made our way into an auditorium with a bunch of students in it. Sylvie was currently on my head for some reason, as we took our seats.
We listened to Director Goodsky talk, and then she introduced the president, Tessia. She gave us a wonderful speech about how we needed to unite as one, and then after told us to walk around the campus.
"Did you see her, Arthur, she was beautiful." Elijah said with sparkling eyes.
"Elijah." I said. "Just stop."
"Haha." Arthur laughed.
"What? She was." Elijah pleaded, as we heard a scuffle going down. "What's going on?"
We walked over and saw a student bullying another student. The one was on the ground, and the other was standing over top of him.
"Hey! Is that the President over there!" Arthur shouted and I smiled.
The guy immediately backed away, and looked around, then to Arthur. "Hey! You! We were in the middle of a fight!" The boy walked up to Arthur.
"The fight was over." Arthur said plainly. "Looked like you one."
"You first year scholar students better learn your place, or someone will teach it to you." The student turned away from Arthur, and Sylvie, still on top of my head, spit at the kid, hitting him in the head. He turned to me, and I pointed at Arthur's bond. "Oh, that's it." He went to draw his sword but was stopped by Tessia.
"What's going on!" She asked.
"This Scholar brat and this kid interrupted my fight." Arthur huffed.
"It wasn't much of a fight; the kid was on the ground, and it was over." Arthur pointed at the dwarve. "See."
"This campus has no room for the students to be fighting like this." Tessia looked at everyone. "Magic outside of class on campus is not allowed, you all know that. Next time, I will have no choice but to write you up."
The bully bowed. "I'm sorry." Then walked away.
"You are really mad at me?" Arthur said to Tessia. "If I didn't do anything, that kid would have been in worst shape."
"I know, but---." Tessia was cut off by Lilia who came rushing over.
"Arthur, Veer, are you okay." Lilia looked at us worriedly.
"Yes, I'm fine." Arthur started to walk away, and Sylvie jumped off my head. Elijah bowed to Tessia and followed Arthur.
Clive, the boy next to Tessia, started to chase after Arthur, but I grabbed his wrist before he could get close. "Don't." I told him. "You won't win that fight, isn't that right, Tess."
I let go of his wrist. "Who do you think you are speaking to the princess like that?" Clive shot at me angrily.
"Clive stop, it's fine." Tessia said.
"Not it's not, this is a first year, who is younger than everyone, he should respect you." Clive stood in front of me, looking down.
"Tess, Lilia, can you control your simp." I leaned my head over, so I could see them. "What are you two up to?"
"Simp?" Clive said.
"Clive, this is like my younger brother." Lilia told him, and he was in shock.
"I didn't know." He said guiltily. "I'm sorry, but what about the princess?"
"I trained him, and he's like a younger brother to me as well." Tessia said with a grin.
"You trained me?" I asked jokingly.
"We have a lot of meetings, Veer, do you want to come with us?" Tessia asked me. "Or do you plan on following your brother? And yeah, I trained you."
"I'm going to go catch up with Arthur, but I'll see you later." I told her, as I turned away. "And Clive, I wouldn't mess with Arthur unless you wanted to lose a hand."
I ran up to Arthur and Elijah. "Did you apologize for Arthur?" Elijah asked.
"No?" We walked into another building. "I just spoke with her."
"She's the princess though?"
"Yeah, she's also Arthur's girl." I said as I turned to Arthur. "I told the Clive kid not to mess with you."
"What!" Elijah screamed. "You and the princess!"
Blood disruption was all it took, no one would know, no one.
---
I was gifted my own room from the Director because of how young I was, I got ready for my first day and made my way to my first class, which was One on One Mana Control Class, I was told to take it, so I did.
I walked through the halls alone; I could tell the students were a little confused when they saw me. I probably should have waited for Arthur, but it didn't matter to me.
I opened the door to my first class, and the professor was standing before the bleachers looking down on the battlefield silently. I noticed a seat by itself and made my way to it. The students inside were eyeing me up suspiciously, trying to figure out who I was.
That's when I heard someone say. "Is that the boy who landed a hit on the Direct?" I knew I should have had her clear the audience when we fought.
I was in the back row looking down at the professor waiting for the class to start. "Can I sit here" A girl with red hair smiled at me. "You must be Virion Leywin."
It was Claire Bladeheart, I knew this was an upper level class, but I didn't know she was going to be in it. "Yeah, go ahead."
Claire sat down. "My names Claire, I'm going to be working with your brother." She held out her hand.
"Nice to meet you, Claire." I shook it.
"I didn't think a first year would take this class, but I've heard some amazing things about you." Claire said with a grin. "You fought against the Director and made her take it seriously."
"I suppose I did." I smiled at her. "So, what exactly is this class."
"Haha." She laughed. "You're a battle mage, so you should be ready. Professor Mayner will watch us fight one on one and give us advice on how to control our mana better."
"Oh." I sighed. "That's all."
"You signed up for the class." Claire went to speak again but it seemed like class was about to start.
"Settle down, everyone." The professor spoke. "I'm Professor Mayner, and This is One on One Mana Control Class, make sure you are in the right spot." He paused. "Just like the name says, you will be fighting one on one with mana only, and I will try to make your skills in mana control better. This is an upper level class, so I'm sure you all know not to use any final blows."
"Are we going to be fighting in front of everybody?" I asked Claire, who was being very nice to me.
"Yeah, is somebody scared of a crowd?" I shook my head. "Good, because I want to see what the eight year old battle mage can do."
"Do I have any volunteers?" A boy in the front raised his hand. "And you are?"
"Fitzroy Langstong, fourth year battle mage." He spoke with dignity. "I would love to show everyone my skills."
"Is there anyone who would like to fight Mr. Langstong?" Professor Mayner asked the class, but no one answered.
"I'm sorry everyone is afraid of me." Fitzroy said seriously as he got down onto the fighting field.
"You should." I told Claire.
"How about." Professor Mayner looked at me. "You."
"I guess you are going." Claire said jokingly. "I can see if the rumors are true."
I stood up. "Who are you?" The Professor asked as I walked up.
"Virion Leywin." I got up on the field.
"This is just a kid; he shouldn't even be here." Fitzroy laughed.
I surrounded my fist with blue flames and stared at him. His eyes went wide, and he backed up. "Mr. Langstrong and Mr. Leywin will be the first two today." The Professor moved away from us. "You may start when you are ready."
Fitzroy found the courage to step up, and I saw a ball of wind forming in his right hand. I quickly used blood disruption in his arm making the spell fade away and launched myself at him using wind under my feet. I swung my fist at his face, not being able to react in time, I held my fist an inch away as he stood there frozen in awe.
I released my fire and turned away. "Is that all?" I asked the Director who was looking at me in shock. Everyone was looking at me in shock except for Claire who had a look of appreciation, like she knew that was going to happen.
"I wasn't ready." I felt the wind forming in his hand again, and he launched it at my back. "Gotchu, you brat." I brought up a wind wall to cancel out the spell without even looking.
I looked at the professor. "Do I need to fight him again?" But before he could speak, wind was being thrown at me by the Fitzroy kid. I only used mana to reinforce myself as I dodged each attack. "Do I?" I asked again as I stepped to the side and the wind blast went by me.
"Keep your eyes on your opponent." Fitzroy roared as he swung a fist at my gut. I waved my hand at him, and he was sent flying away by my wind spell. I heard him hit the floor and he just laid there.
"Mr. Leywin, I think that's enough." I nodded my head at the Professor. "Mr. Langstrong, I have some advice for you." The Professor started to talk to him as I made my way back up to Claire.
I sat down, as everyone was still eyeing me up. "I hope he wasn't one of the strongest students."
"No, Fitzroy is just an idiot, he thinks he is, but he is probably on the level of a normal first year student." Claire admitted.
"That makes sense."
"So, Virion, you are a dual elemental?" She asked curiously.
"No." I paused and looked at her. "I'm a tri elemental."
Her eyes went large. "Are you serious?" I held out my hand and conjured water. "Oh my! You could be stronger than your brother." She thinks Arthur is a dual elemental.
"Maybe."
The rest of the class went by, and the only interesting part was watching Claire fight, she was pretty good with a sword. It made sense though; she was the leader of the Disciplinary Committee.
"I'll see you later." Claire said to me as we exited the class. "In Team Fighting Mechanics One."
"Oh cool." I walked in another direction. Team Fighting Mechanics was the only class I had with Arthur, and I knew Lucas Wykes was in that class. It will be my first time seeing him in person.
"First year." Fitzroy called out from a group of older kids, there were four of them. "You think you can just embarrass House Langstrong and get away with it?"
"Huh?" I said.
"You think you can just embarrass House Langstrong and get away with it?" He repeated himself.
"Oh, I heard you the first time." I scratched my chin. "I truly didn't mean to embarrass you, but you made it too easy."
"You little br--." He raised his fist but froze when someone spoke from behind me.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you." It was Elijah. "You'll get in trouble."
"Stay out of this first year, or you'll be next." Langstrong smiled at me.
I activate "Blood Oath." I tilted my head at Fitzroy. "Please don't hurt me." I pleaded with him.
"It's too late for that." He brought his fist down, and I locked his arm in place as it stopped right in front of my face.
"Thank you, for your mercy." I said as I started to walk away.
"Hey wait!" Fitzroy exclaimed.
"Why didn't you hit him?" Another boy asked.
"I tried." He admitted.
"How did you do that?" Elijah stood there confused as he looked at me.
"You don't need to worry about it." I walked in a different direction from Elijah. Fitzroy and his crew didn't follow me.
I didn't have a class any time soon, so I was going to get something to eat. I was fine with walking alone, but I wanted to find someone I liked. There was no one I knew though.
It took me a few minutes to find the dining hall where all the students ate. I got myself a tray of food, it was not my mother's cooking. There was an open table with no one sitting at it, so I decided to sit there and eat.
As I was eating someone spoke to me. "May I join you." I looked up to see Lilia.
"Of course." She sat down across from me.
"Did you have your first class?" I nodded my head. "How did it go?"
"Uhh, I beat up some kid, that was pretty much it."
Lilia seemed worried all of a sudden. "You didn't hurt him too badly, right?"
"Lilia, he's fine. I just knocked him down a couple of times. It was for the class."
"That's good. I was just making sure you didn't kill anyone on day one. Your mother asked me to keep an eye on you." Of course, she did. "Do you have any classes with Arthur?"
"Yeah, one. It's later today, I think Tessia and Clive are in it."
"Oh cool, make sure if you fight in any other classes, not to hurt a student too badly."
"I know, Lilia."
"I already told Arthur that as well, but you are younger, and I could see you doing it."
"I promise to be on my best behavior." I told her as I stuffed a carrot into my mouth.
I was planning on fighting in my Team Fighting Mechanics class against the Disciplinary Committee with Tessia and Clive. I just needed to speak up before Lucas did.
I would love an opportunity to go head to head with my brother in front of others. Our duels were always fun, and they made me stronger each time.
"What does the student council have planned today?"
"Nothing until after all the classes." Lilia placed her fork down on the tray, she was already done eating. "Do you know if Arthur and Tessia made up?"
"I don't know, but I'm sure they did." I placed my fork down as I finished my food. "Why?"
"They seem to know each other very well."
"That's because Arthur and Tessia like each other." I noticed the expression on Lilia's face change to one of sorrow.
"Oh." She stood up. "I should probably get going my class starts in ten minutes."
"Bye." We both said as she left.
I forgot that Lilia had a crush on him.
