As we approached the clock tower, there was a barrier around it, and I could see mages gathered inside of it. They were just staring at us, as they waited for all the students and faculty to arrive. I noticed the man in the middle wearing a mask, it was Draneeve, with a bag in his hand.
The first thing I did was sense for Draneeve's blood, he had a strong core than I did, which meant I couldn't just freely control him. His aura was frightening even in the state that I was in. The people I took down up until now were all weak level mages, maybe not even out of orange core. That's why it was so easy to control their blood, Draneeve had to of been a silver core.
"Kathyln!" Curtis shouted as he ran up to us. "You are all alri----, Veer are you hurt?"
"It's not my blood." I told him honestly as I continued to feel out Draneeve.
"We should get closer." Claire insisted and we all pushed through the crowd and made our way to the front of the barrier, so everything was easier to see. "What's in his bag?"
Spells collided with the barrier, as people tried to get in. "Hahaha." Draneeve stepped up and laughed. "Even after all that's happened, you Dicathians still think you have a chance." He paused and looked around. "I don't think you understand the gravity of your situation. Your own students and teacher joined our side." He opened the bag in his hands. "Maybe this will wake you all up, and you'll understand what's really happening." He tossed the head of Doradrea onto the ground.
"No!" Claire shouted, that's when I saw Elijah staring in horror at the head, my heart raced even faster. Was this a panic attack, or am I just getting tired? Come on, Veer, no time for this.
"Doradrea!" Theodore screamed as he started to pound on the barrier at the orange haired Draneeve. "Fight me you coward!" He roared!
"Me! A Coward!" Draneeve walked over to him. "Say it one more time."
"You coward!" Draneeve yanked Theodore through the barrier and through him.
"I am the mighty Draneeve! I am no coward!" Theodore used gravity magic to stay on his feet, then jumped into the air and through a punch at Draneeve with his gravity magic activated. As Theodore came on Draneeve the collision caused smoke to rise.
"Is he okay?" Curtis asked, as the smoke disappeared. Theodore was on the ground; his leg snapped the other way.
Draneeve kicked him in the gut. "Was that all you had? Really? And you called me a coward." He backed away. "Let me help with the blood on your stomach." Fire rose from the ground and burned Theodore; I haven't seen a fire spell that powerful before. "Don't you worry, he's still alive."
"Theo!" Claire banged on the barrier, but nothing happened.
I started to smile as I got closer to the barrier, I placed a hand on my heart, it was still beating incredibly fast. My vision was blurry, but it did not matter, it wasn't from any injury. I was on a high from killing multiple people, and for using a shit ton of mana for the first time ever. My body hasn't been through this type of training.
"Now." Draneeve started to speak but stopped.
I cut him off. "Lord Draneeve!" I shouted and everyone around me looked at me.
Draneeve tilted his head. "See that Dicatheons, that's how you address someone of power." He stood inside the barrier, ten yards from me. "What is it boy? You don't seem to be in the best state, unless that's not your blood."
"What are you doing?" Claire grabbed me, as I got closer.
"It's fine." I brushed her off. "Could I have a chance to fight you?"
"Hahaha, I appreciate you not screaming that I'm a coward, but I'm not here to indulge everyone." He turned away from me.
I spoke up louder so he could hear me. "I get it, that's why I called you a Lord, instead of a Retainer, because you aren't one yet." He froze, and then turned to me again, I was smiling.
"Retainer?" Claire and Curtis asked.
"I can read his mind, just go along with it." I told them, even though it was a lie.
"What did you say boy?!" He dropped his confident demeanor. "How do you even know what that means? You Dicatheon scum." Draneeve rushed up to me.
"My bad, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings, I know you'll get up there one day." He just stared at me from one yard away through the barrier.
"What's your name boy?" Draneeve said with a sadistic face.
"That's Arthur Leywin's brother!" Lucas screamed as he dragged out Tessia from behind a door by her hair, then other mages did the same with other elves and dwarves in collars with leashes.
Draneeve's eyes got large. "You are his brother, hahaaha." He backed away from me as sudden pressure was released to my left.
"How dare you, Lucas!" It was Elijah, he was about to become Nico. "I'm going to kill you!!" Black spikes started to appear out of the ground killing anything they pierced, Elijah broke part of the barrier and made his way inside. He then toppled over like he was fatigued and passed out, sending one last attack at Lucas that didn't do much.
"Don't hurt him." Draneeve ordered giving me one last look. "Hopefully, I see you again." He walked over to Elijah and picked his body up. "I'm leaving." Draneeve turned to Lucas. "Follow me after you killed everyone that is approaching." A portal opened behind him.
"Professor Glory!" Claire exclaimed.
"Claire, let the professor handle this." She paused and looked at the damaged barrier that Elijah caused. "Professor Grenir, are you ready?" Professor Glory turned to me, and her eyes lit up. "Virion! You're bleeding! Get him a medic."
"I'm fine, I'll come with you, Lucas is mine." I stepped up with the professors.
"Veer, no!" Claire said. "They are on a whole different level." Claire, Curtis, and Kathyln were all looking at me. Students all around us came over as well.
"Tch." I stepped up. "Claire you are the leader of the Disciplinary Committee; you are in charge of the protection of the students and the school." I turned my head. "Act like it." I made eye contact with Professor Glory. "I'm not staying back, you can try to stop me, but it won't end well."
"Alright, let's go." Professor Glory knew what us Leywins could do. The five professors and I started to walk up to the broken barrier.
That's when I felt fire rise from behind me. "If you are injured or scared stay back, the rest." She paused and I turned my head toward her. "Tonight, we fight for Xyrus!" She roared and all the students shouted with her.
We entered into the barrier, and the professors went straight for Draneeve, who was heading for the portal. "Don't let him escape!" The closest professor launched themselves at Draneeve, but was stopped by Lucas who shot fire right at him. Draneeve turned around and smiled at me as he left.
All the soldiers that Draneeve had under his control stayed behind with Lucas, I couldn't tell how many. However, the professors and students around me didn't care, they had a reason to fight now. Lucas was standing over Tessia's beat up body, after nailing a professor with fire.
"Rescue the hostages!" Claire shouted, and I decided to fight other mages before going to Lucas. I stepped in front of Professor Glory as three mages came rushing towards us, I crippled their cores and made them fall to the ground without even a swing of a sword. I didn't want to waste mana on them, so I let them just lay there motionless.
"What the hell?" I turned to a shocked Professor Glory; she was not looking good. "What did you just do?" Professor Glory swung her sword and killed another mage that appeared by her side.
I ignored her and continued my approach toward Lucas. An earthen spike came flying at me. "Veer!" Curtis shouted! I simply stopped the spear with water before it reached me. The water I had surrounding the spear froze, and I launched the ice and earth spear at the mage who shot it at me.
A sword came from behind, but Professor Glory stepped in and stopped the attack. "Watch your back!" She shouted; I would have been fine. Lucas was hitting people with fire left and right, no one could touch him. We were now about twenty yards apart. "I got him!" Professor Glory blurred past me and swung her sword at Lucas, that's a terrible idea.
"Boom!" Lucas blasted her with fire, and she was sent flying toward me.
I ran up to Professor Glory laying in front of me, her armor was basically destroyed, and she was bleeding. "Stay still." The wounds weren't that bad, so I used my blood healing and got her back to normal. "How do you feel?"
"I feel great, how though?" She stood back.
"To your right!" A sword was swung at her head, but I tore the blood out of the mage. Professor Glory was in even more shock, as the blood rained down on her. "Now you know how I got covered in blood."
"Just die!" I heard Lucas screamed as he lit a professor on fire, and just kept on going. "All of you are just insects to me! This is such a waste of time!"
There were about five mages in between us, a spell of water came flying at me, and just simply stopped when it got near me. I dropped the water to the ground as if it was never a spell. Then fire and wind spells came at me. "Kill that brat!" One of the mages roared, as battles went on all around me.
I stopped moving and surrounded myself with an ice barrier, as the spells approached me. The barrier broke but the spells didn't get through. I stepped out and was met with fist coalesced with wind. I caught his fist and used his blood to stop his movements. "What?" I tilted my head as fire was sailing right for me. I stood behind the man as the spell collided with his back and screamed in agony as it burned his back. "Ahhhh!" I released him and continued on.
Another water spell was sent at me, and as it got near me it just froze solid and fell to the ground as I started to augment my body with ice instead of fire. A sword came down on me and I sidestepped and plunged my own sword into his chest. He fell over, and I stepped over the motionless body.
Claire came rushing in and slid her sword into one of the mage's chest. "Get Lucas, we'll handle everything here!" She shouted and looking around it looked like she was right. Our mages were taking them down one by one. "Save Princess Tessia." Claire had a determined face, and I nodded my head.
"Lucas!" I shouted, and he turned to me, Tessia wasn't moving beneath him. I could feel her heart still pounding, but I knew she survived this already. Seeing her in this state though, hurt me, it made it even worse that I knew it was going to happen.
Lucas smiled with his ugly looking face. "At least you showed up on your own." He stood across from me. "That means I can show off both you, and her to him." He kicked Tessia's body. "I will take everything Arthur Leywin loves away from him!"
"Bro, you got some serious issues." Where Lucas was at now in strength didn't allow me to just rip out his blood or cripple his mana core. I probably could only control his limbs one at a time.
"Well, insect, are we going to do this or what?" Fire blazed out of Lucas.
If I wanted to win this fight, I needed to get stronger, and there was only one way to do that.
I stepped up, reached into my core, and awakened more of the power inside of my Serpent's Will.
Phase Two "Blood Monarch."
