"Well, insect, are we going to do this or what?" Fire blazed out of Lucas.
If I wanted to win this fight, I needed to get stronger, and there was only one way to do that.
I stepped up, reached into my core, and awakened more of the power inside of my Serpent's Will.
Phase Two "Blood Monarch."
I felt the power grow inside of me, snake scales started to form all over my body, two blood runes formed under my eyes that glowed, my connection to water increasing severely. I could feel my aura exploding out of me toward Lucas. I never used this ability in a real fight before, I was still having trouble with my vision and breathing, but it didn't matter, I had this power.
"You think this new power of yours can stop me!" Lucas roared and shot fire at me, that quickly vanished as it got close to me. "What!" In this mode, an invisible water barrier forms that protects me from certain attacks. "My power should be strong enough to take down Arthur, why can't I kill you with ease!" Lucas shot two fire spells at me, that instantly vanished as they got close. "Ahhhh!!"
I raised my hand and formed ice spears above my head, since I grew stronger with the water element, it also helped me with my ice element. I sent them at Lucas, and he met them with more fire. Then I appeared in front of him with my sword and swung at his rib cage. I didn't have the fear inducing effects that Arthur had, so Lucas quickly backed away from me, as I swung my sword at him repeatedly.
Lucas formed a fire ball above my head without me noticing, but as it got into my vicinity it just disappeared. I stopped my approach on Lucas and started to speak. "Don't you get it, fire spells don't work, so stop trying them."
"You think you can talk to me like that, you commoner piece of shit!" Lucas sent multiple fire attacks at me, and they just disappeared. "Ahhhh!" His face was all distorted, the drug that made him stronger really created a monster.
I felt my vision and head go foggy, and I tripped a little to the side, but I stayed up on my feet. I shook my head and tried to stay conscious, as fire spells appeared and vanished before. "Li-like I said, fire spells won't work." This was all because of my heart racing so fast, and the fact that I used a lot of mana. I've never fought this long and did this much.
I dashed towards Lucas and swung my sword at him, his eyes went wide as my blade nearly went into his stomach. "Ahhh! You damn commoner!" He grabbed my shoulder as my momentum took me to the side of him. "Burn!" He shot fire out of his hand into my shoulder, and my water barrier couldn't stop it. "Hahaha." He laughed as I was launched backwards, I used wind magic to stay on my feet.
My scales from the Sea Serpent protected me, but it still left a nice wound that was bleeding. My shirt that I was wearing was ripped in half after the attack. There was still so much blood on me, both mine and my enemies. I used my blood healing as I stood and looked at the smiling Lucas. The blood that came out of me, went back into me, and I closed the wound.
"Why!!!" Lucas shot himself at me, as he realized how he could hurt me, but he was too slow. He wasn't a close combat fighter, I dodged his attempts to grab me, as I sent attacks of my own at him with my sword. I managed to land a couple of strikes that left him bleeding down his chest, but nothing serious as we stood face to face yet again.
I pointed my sword at Lucas, conjured multiple water bullets in front of it, then I put wind mana behind them to increase their speed. "Go!" I said out loud as the bullets were launched at him at a tremendous speed. Lucas brought up a fire barrier to protect himself, but I reached into his mana core and waited for just the perfect time to disrupt it. The wind bullets were about a foot away from the barrier, and that was when I attacked his core for a split second, disabling his barrier, allowing my bullets to get through and collide with him.
It sent him flying against the clock tower, I could see the bullet piercings in him, but he got up and started to limp back over to me. His wounds were bleeding out, but his energy was staying the same. I toppled over and caught myself by sticking my sword into the ground. Tessia's body was now to my right.
"How dare you!" Lucas hissed, as his fire grew larger. "How dare you touch royalty!" I turned around and could see that we basically won the fight, but a lot of people had died.
"You lost Lucas." I told him, and he sent multiple flaming spells at me yet again. "Dude." The spells vanished as they got close to me. "Just stop with the fire spells." I could see him gritting his teeth as I spoke to him.
"Damn you and your brother!" He started to back away from me, towards the portal. Wait, he isn't supposed to get away. I launched myself as fast as I could to end up between him and the portal. "I'm supposed to be stronger than everyone! Why can't you just die!" He surrounded his fist with fire and threw a punch at me. I dropped my sword and caught his fist. "Huh!"
I used "Absolute Zero" to freeze his hand solid, and then I kicked him away from the portal. That's when I felt someone coming towards us at superhuman speed, I laughed. "Haha."
"Veer!" Claire said from behind me, as she limped over to me. "It's over."
I shook my head. "Not yet."
"You puny insects!" Lucas screamed, and I fell over, and my "Blood Monarch" phase started to disappear. I used too much mana, and I was hyperventilating. Lucas noticed this and launched a ball of fire at me.
I attempted to raise a water barrier, but a pain in my core stopped me. "Noooo!" I heard Claire's and Professor Glory's voice shout as the fire hit me and sent me flying. I was on my back looking up as my vision started to go dark, then someone slapped my face. "Stay awake!" Claire said into my ear as she rested my head on her lap.
I looked up and could see Professor Glory now standing in between Lucas and me, she was in a better condition since I used blood healing on her. Lucas was still bleeding and was having trouble moving.
"Doooom!" A sudden dark and scary aura covered the field, we all turned to see a giant dragon with black scales covering its back, standing beneath it was Arthur. He was the one exerting this pressure.
"You finally arrived!" Lucas screamed as he continued to bleed out. If I didn't have to fight before getting to Lucas, I could have ripped the blood from his wounds at the moment, but I wasn't in the state to do it. "Look at your precious girlfriend and brother!"
Arthur silently walked past him without saying anything and went over to Tessia. "She's fine." I heard Arthur say to Sylvie, seeing her in this form was awesome, I just wish I was in a better state.
"She cried for you!" Lucas snarled at my brother, but he continued to ignore him as he walked over to me.
"I knew I shouldn't have left you here alone." Arthur bent down and checked my vitals.
"A-arthur, your brother saved a lot of lives, you should be proud." Claire spoke for me. I pushed through all the pain and started to get up as Arthur looked down on me. "Veer, you shou---." I nudged her hand away.
"Stay down, Veer, your big brother can handle it from here." I could feel his rage in every word he spoke, and in every step he took. I fell back down, and Claire caught me. "Lucas." Arthur said confidently as he started to walk over to him.
"Dammit." I said out loud.
"Relax Veer." Professor Glory was now by my side. "You did more than what was asked of you." She rested on hand on my shoulder.
My eyes started to drift shut, but I managed to keep them open for what I wanted to see. I could see Arthur speaking to Lucas but couldn't hear what was being said. I watched as my brother walked up to the injured Lucas without a spell being sent in any direction.
Arthur pointed a finger at Lucas as he stared at my brother, and a black spiral formed in front of his finger, then he launched some sort of spell that completely obliterated Lucas's arm. Lucas fell to the ground in agony after losing his arm.
Arthur approached Lucas as he was on his knees looking up at him, his only hand frozen from my spell earlier. Arthur bent down and grabbed Lucas's arm, and mumbled something to him, then he froze Lucas's arm even more. The arm shattered into pieces, and Lucas fell onto his back.
I could see Professor Glory and Claire talking either to me or to each other, but before I could do anything else, my eyes faded shut, and I started to lose consciousness.
I was proud of what I did today, I saved Claire from losing magic, I took down Kai, and I would have dealt with Lucas if I was at full strength. Sadly, I wasn't going to be able to see Arthur finish off Lucas.
I also will miss the Lances coming for Arthur, I hope they don't take me as well, since I'm his brother.
My mind went dark, and I lost consciousness.
Claire Bladeheart
I held Veer in my lap as his eyes were shut, he was fine, I believe his young body just couldn't keep up with his mana usage. I watched as Arthur detached every single limb on Lucas, it was horrifying. After one last blow, Lucas died, and Arthur turned around and started to walk towards us. I don't know why, but I felt scared of his approaching figure.
He stopped over Tessia; everyone just watched him in shock. I could see Professor Glory was even scared to go near him, Lilia had here hand over her mouth, Princess Kathyln who was now sitting next to me as she helped close the wound on Veer's chest, with her ice magic, couldn't stop peeking at Arthur every few seconds.
"Boooom." Like an explosion had gone off, smoke covered the area where Lucas's body was. Three figures appeared as the smoke dialed down. It was the Lances; I could see Arthur's calm demeanor disappear.
It was Lances Varay, Bairon, and Olfred.
Lance Bairon had a very angry look on his face as he looked down at his brother, and then Arthur. The dragon behind Arthur let out a giant "Roooaaaarrrr" and then launched itself at the three of them, but Lance Varay's ice magic trapped it in ice.
Arthur was standing over Tessia's body as the three approached him. It looked like Lance Bairon was having trouble keeping himself together, he probably would have attacked Arthur if it wasn't for the Princess right next to him.
"Arthur Leywin." Lance Varay spoke. "You are to come with us, the Council will decide what to do with you."
"You should die for disrespecting the Wykes house!" Lance Bairon added, and electricity built up around him.
"It's not your decision." Lance Varay told him.
"He saved everyone from your younger brother." Lance Olfred added, and Lance Bairon didn't take it too well, but went silent.
Lava humanoid figures started to appear and escort people away, and healers started to rush in and help people.
"You are going to have to wear these." Varay tossed a pair of handcuffs to Arthur, and he put them on without fighting against it, even though he saved everyone mostly. You could hear the chatter coming from the people as they watched in confusion, then the ice disappeared around the Dragon, and it turned into a white fox and ran to Arthur. Lance Varay pulled out another artifact and stuck it onto Arthur's chest, I didn't know what it did.
"My brother is injured." Arthur spoke as the three Lances turned and looked at Veer. "Can I check him before leaving." Lance Varay nodded her head and followed Arthur over to us. "How is he looking?" Lance Bairon also appeared behind Lance Varay, as he watched Arthur like a hawk, but also took in the sight of Veer covered in blood.
Professor Glory spoke. "Lances." She bowed then turned to Arthur. "He'll be fine, that last attack by Lucas." She paused and looked at Lance Bairon then went back to Arthur. "Was the worst of it."
Princess Kathyln was holding her hands over Veer, as she continued to treat him. "Why are you taking Arthur? He saved us." She paused, then went on. "Lucas was the one responsible for everything, look what he did to Virion."
"The council has requested it, Princess." Lance Varay said.
Arthur bent down and placed a hand on Veer's leg. "I'll see you soon, little brother." He got up and turned to Lance Varay. "Can you make sure he is treated well."
"Of course." Lance Varay turned to another medic, and they came over and took Princess Kathyln's spot.
"Arthur!" I called out, I needed to know if he knew about Veer's powers, they all looked at me. "Did you know about the power that Veer possesses?"
I could see confusion in his face grow. "What? That he's a tri elemental, or has a Beast Will?"
I shook my head. "So, you don't know?"
"Know what?" Arthur and the Lances all seemed confused about why I was making a big deal out of this.
"Arthur, your brother is a Blood Deviant." Even the stone cold look on Lance Varay's face faded.
"What?" Arthur spit.
"Blood Deviant is not a thing." Lance Bairon spoke.
"I saw it." Professor Glory stepped in. "I didn't know how he did it at the time, but now I do. He was controlling the blood in people's bodies."
"Impossible!" Lance Olfred had his hand on his chin.
"Did he tell you this?" Arthur was in the most shock.
"Yes." It was right at the time he killed Kai. "He ripped the blood out of an enemy mage's body."
"That power can't be possible." Lance Varay still spoke with a calm voice, but her expression was one of disbelief. "If that's true, why didn't he stop Lucas."
"He didn't look right when he was fighting Lucas." I told them honestly.
"I didn't know." Arthur was now holding his bond in his hands. "He never told me; he must have wanted to keep it a secret."
"If this is true, we need to report it to the Council as well." Lance Varay turned. "We should get going."
Lance Bairon was trying to figure out whether to believe me or not but turned away with Lance Varay.
Arthur sent me a fake smile, one that told me he wasn't truly happy. "Keep him safe, Clarie."
"I will."
The Lances and Arthur all walked away, but all of them were still thinking about Veer. I saw Princess Kathyln and Prince Curtis run toward them out of sight. "I feel responsible for the safety of this child." Professor Glory put a hand on Veer's shoulder. "He's my student, and I let him get hurt."
"You saw him, the state he was in, there was no stopping him." I affirmed her.
"I know, but I could have done more." She looked at Veer with a sorrowful expression. "I can't believe he is a Blood Deviant."
"I know." It still shook me every time I heard it. "You don't need to stay; I'll take care of him." As I said this, six elven guards came running towards Tessia's body, then two of them separated and came towards us.
"Is this Virion Leywin?" The elf asked, he was in a silver coat of armor.
"Y-yes." I answer.
"Elder Virion has ordered us to bring him into our care." The elf spoke as the other stood next to him.
"O-okay, but I'm coming with."
"No, please back away from the boy, we will take care of him you have word." The two elves looked at Professor Glory, the healer, and I, and the healer immediately moved away.
"Do you have something to prove who you are?" Professor Glory asked, and the elf pulled out a seal, it was the royal's families.
"Can we get going now, we want what's best for the boy?"
"Fine, Claire let them have him, he'll be fine." Listening to Professor Glory, I slowly placed Veer's head on the ground, and moved away. Professor Glory came to my side. "I think he is experiencing mana depletion."
The elves used wind magic to support Veer's body, and they started walking away with him. The other four did the same with Princess Tessia.
"He saved a lot of people today." Every time I saw him in the courtyard back there, he was rescuing someone. "Even if he did look a little crazy doing it."
"That kid is going to be a force that no one will want to face head on in the future."
