Chapter 34: Preparing One Self

My Beginning After the EndWords: 9651

(One Month Later)

The start of the war is progressing, I heard Elder Virion talking about attacks on raiding parties inside dungeons by Alacryans and Mana Beast working together. I should perfect illusion magic in two months, maybe even sooner, once I do, I'm leaving the Floating Castle.

I walked into the training, standing with Aldir, there were five guards with spears in their hands, no Tess. Hmm, I wonder what this is about. "Virion." Aldir said as I approached, and the five guards just stared at me, most knew what I was capable of now.

"What's going on?" I asked him, confused by the situation.

"Today, I'm changing things up, you are going to be fighting these five soldiers in a one on five fight, without knowing their abilities at the start. The only blood magic permitted is Blood Acceleration, no controlling their bodies, because I know you could win with ease if you did that." That was true, I nodded my head. "Surround him." Aldir ordered, and the five guards surrounded me and pointed their spears at me. "And fight bare handed." I looked at him with a, are you kidding face, and he just ignored me. "Begin."

The one in front of me poked his spear at my chest and I quickly brought up a wind wall to block it, and then activated "Blood Oath." I coalesced wind under my feet and launched myself out of the circle, fire erupted onto one of the guy's spears. I landed outside of the circle, and an elven guard pointed his spear at me and shot wind blades.

I pointed my hand at him and shot wind blades of my own, as they collided another guard appeared by my side and I activated "Blood Acceleration" and appeared behind, as he tried to spin around, I brought my fist to his back, and hit him with a little tiny amount of mana on my fist, knocking him to the ground.

The four guards left stood in front of me, I covered my hands in flames, and my feet in ice. I launched myself at the guard on the far right, whose abilities were unknown at the moment, with every step ice formed under me. I swung my flaming fist at the guy, and he tried to block my attack, but was too slow, I knocked him to the ground farther than the last guy, he was okay though.

Wind blades came at me, and I brought up an ice wall from the ice I already I had on the floor. The wind connected and the ice broke, I shot myself through the debris, and a spear was heading straight for my leg. I quickly increased the amount of mana in my hand and brought my fist down on the spear before it could get closer to me. I snapped it in half then spun and hit the guard in the face with my elbow.

There were now only two guards left, the one with the spear on fire, and another who hasn't used any magic yet. The fire spear guard came flying at me, and as I dodged his attacks with ease, the other guard joined in from behind me.

With ease, I sidestepped, ducked, and spun out of all their attacks, then when the floor was covered with ice, I had the ice rise and cover their feet so they couldn't move. "Hey!" The fire mage shouted as he tried to free himself. He shoved his spear into the ice, but the fire wasn't hot enough.

I walked up to the last two guards and raised my fist. "I think it's over." I spoke up, and released all of my spells I had active. I turned around and the three guards I did hit were moaning in pain. "My bad guys."

"Very well, done." Aldir walked up to us. The two guards bowed and gave me a look of anger. "Virion, Wendall here, thought he could take you on in a fight while you used blood magic." I looked at the fire mage, who I beat without using my main blood abilities. I activated "Blood Oath."

"Really?" I asked the guard.

"I"m sorry, I don't believe you are a Blood Deviant." Wendall told me, and I felt for the blood in his body, and buckled his knees. "What the?" I pulled out my sword and held it against his throat.

I glared down at him, while I held his body completely still. "Trust me, I am a Blood Deviant."

"Why can't I move?" Wendall looked like he was in pain trying to move.

I was about to release him, but Aldir spoke up. "Do it to the other four guards." The guard next to Wendell fell to his knees as I pulled my sword back and placed it back into its mana ring. The three guards that just got to their feet, were now on their knees. All of them were unable to move, the only things they had control of were their eyes and mouth, and that was because I chose to let them go. "How long can you hold this?"

"I don't know." I told him honestly, as the guards all tried to escape from the spell I had them in. "A while, if they are weak."

"All of you try and break the spell." Aldir and I watched as the guards struggled to free themselves, it was hard to watch, kinda looked like they were going to shit themselves.

"I can't!" One of them shouted but kept on going. I still had control over all of them with ease, they had to be orange cores at best.

After about five minutes later, Aldir spoke up again. "Let them go, they obviously can't break loose." I deactivated the spell and freed them. "You five are dismissed." They all got up slowly, bowed to Aldir, and gave me a glare before walking out.

"Shouldn't Tess be here?" I asked as I looked up at Aldir.

"I told her I would train her alone later." Aldir was standing maybe five yards from me. "It seems like being in silver core has made controlling blood easier for you."

"Yeah, extremely." I answered him honestly. "Are we calling it a day?"

"Yes, you are free to leave." I started to walk away, but Aldir stopped me by asking me. "Why haven't you asked about your brother and how is training is going?"

I couldn't tell him because I already knew. "Because I have a duty here, and he has his own. I also didn't think you would tell me."

"Virion, are you planning on fighting in the war earlier than asked?" I turned around and had a straight face on.

"Of course not." I shrugged. "I'll fight in the war when I am told I am allowed too."

Aldir's third eye was locked onto my face. "I know you are lying." How would he know that? "I'll let you make your own decision on the matter, but I advise you to listen to Elder Virion and the Council."

"I understand, but don't you think my abilities would be best in the dungeons? I could cause chaos down there, not with a small group or battalion, but by myself." I was now facing him.

"You may be right, but what happens when a powerful enemy appears, and you are by yourself?" Aldir questioned me.

"I'll kill it." I could probably put up a good fight against a Retainer, but I couldn't take on a Scythe. However, there aren't any Scythes in Dicathen at the moment, I think. "If I can't, I'll flee."

"What if you can't?" Aldir kept on questioning me.

"I'll figure it out." I told him as I turned back around to leave. "I never said I was leaving though, so you don't need to worry." He didn't respond, and I made my way out into the hall where two guards were waiting for Aldir.

I walked past them and started down the hallway.

"Ah shit." I mumbled to myself as Lance Bairon and Prince Curtis came walking down the hall, I stopped as they approached. "Prince Curtis." I bowed my head.

"You know you don't have to do that, Virion." Prince Curtis and Lance Bairon stopped in front of me. "Did you just finish your training?" Prince Curtis was always friendly, same with Kathyln. I was closer with Kathyln since we trained together at Xyrus.

"Yeah, I did." I told him, as I looked up at Lance Bairon. "Good evening, Lance Bairon." I smiled up at him.

"Tch." He turned away from Curtis and me. "I'll be waiting for you." He said as he started to walk away. Lance Bairon didn't like me much, but the feelings were mutual at the moment. I was just better at hiding it.

"Don't mind him." Prince Curtis placed a hand on my shoulder. "Keep up with your training, you are going to be as strong as him one day." He removed his hand and turned away. "I'll see you later." He went after Lance Bairon.

"See ya." I said as I started walking again.

Sooner or later after I leave, Tessia, Curtis, and Kathyln are going to go into the dungeons as well. I would join one of their teams, but it looks like i'll be disobeying orders, so I can't. They'll just bring me back here to the Floating Castle.

A knife came flying for my head, and without moving I simply stopped it in the air using wind magic. "Gramps, that trick is old." I told him as he walked out into the hallway.

"I was just making sure your training was paying off." He told me as I stopped in front of him. "How did your training with the five guards go?"

"So, you knew about that?"

"Yeah, Aldir told me this morning." He tilted his old head at me. "So, how'd you do?"

"Do I really need to answer that?" I said sarcastically, he knew I was stronger than five guards.

"No, I know you beat them, I don't think there is a regular mage who can compete with you." This might be true, it depended on their fighting style. "Did you see Lance Bairon?"

I nodded my head. "He went into the training hall with Prince Curtis." I looked down the hall. "What's going on?"

"Nothing that concerns you, go on, I think your parents are in their room." He started to walk away from me.

"Wow, okay." I said with a smile and started to make my way down the hall again.

I wonder what's going on, probably nothing serious. I was planning on spending the day with my parents until my night training with Lance Aya. She was out on some mission today, and needed to push training back till later tonight, which worked for me. It didn't really matter when training was, as long as I got to train with her.

I was close to mastering illusion magic, and that meant I was close to going to the dungeons.
