Standing in the middle of the tent was a brunette girl, in silver armor like my own, her eyes were fierce, she was skinny, but had some muscle. "You must be Veer." I stared into her eyes without blinking or looking away and nodded my head. "I am Victoria, I'll be your team captain."
"Nice to meet you." I said, this was truly happening, my time to fight in the war was starting. I looked around the room and noticed two other people.
A man glared at me. "You sound like a boy." He walked up and tilted his head at me. "My name is Callias Fleet, AA Class Adventurer." He had brown eyes, with red hair, and was skinny like Victoria, but had a cocky walk to him. I could see he used a sword as well, because he had it on his back, not in a mana ring. "This is going to be a dangerous hunt; you better not slow us down." Hunt? Is it confirmed that a mutated mana beast is there?
"I won't." I simply said as I turned my head to another girl on my right. She had blonde hair that reached down past her shoulders, oh my god. This is.
"My name is Samantha." She sent me a smile. "Samantha Tempest, A Class Adventurer." She wasn't as perky as I thought. "You know I raided a dungeon with someone that wore a mask like you before, his name was Note." She got closer to me and put out a hand. "I hope you are a lot like him."
I took her hand. "Alright, now that you know everybody, I'm interested in your abilities." Victoria told me as Samantha backed away.
These were people that needed to know everything about my powers, but I needed them to do me a favor. "Fine." I said as I held out my hand. "I ask you all to keep it down." I looked around the room at each of them. "I am a tri-elemental, with three deviant powers." They all just stared at me in shock as I formed water, fire, and wind spells around my hand, and showed them off. "However, I need you to keep my deviant powers a secret."
"Holy shit!" Victoria exclaimed. "How are you only a yellow core?"
"I'm not." I told her, and she looked surprised. "I'm a mid stage silver core."
"What?" Callias didn't seem to believe me. "You are telling me you have three deviant powers as well."
"Yes." I released the spells in my hand and formed an ice ball. "Ice and sound."
"What about the third?" Samantha asked. "The person I was talking about before, Note, was a quadra elemental, you are exactly like him."
"That's because he was my brother." I told her honestly. "My third deviant power doesn't leave this room; I'm trusting all of you." They all nodded their heads, even Callias who was processing everything. "I am a Blood Deviant." Let's see how far trust gets me.
No one said a word, until Victoria spoke up. "What do you mean?"
"You." Callias stopped for a second. "You can control people's blood?"
I waved my hand down, still having Blood Oath activated, and had Callias take a seat. "Precisely." I looked back at Victoria. "I hope you can keep this a secret for a while."
"But the people higher up should know." She got closer to me.
I shook my head. "They already do." I wasn't ready to take off my mask. "Let's just say, I am related to someone higher up."
Victoria sent me a smile. "Okay, but if I find out you are a runaway son of the royal family and get in trouble, I'm gonna be pissed."
"Well..." I tilted my head. "Not technically royalty." Victoria stared me down. "You have my word you won't get in trouble."
"Shit." Callias stood back up. "I guess I'll be slowing us down then." He laughed. "I'm a fire augmenter."
Samantha, who was silent for a little, stepped up, I knew she was a water conjurer. "I'm a water conjurer."
I nodded, and turned to our captain, I wonder what Victoria was. "I'm an earth conjurer, what about you?"
"I'm both, I can fight up close or afar, but seeing as we only have one augmenter, I'll fight up close." I would rather do that anyways, fighting from a distance isn't any fun. "But I should mention this, depending on the mana beast, I can kill them with a swipe of my hand."
"How?" Callias questioned me, not knowing the abilities I possess with blood magic.
"I can rip their blood out." Their mouths dropped even more. "Yeah, so, I'm happy to be a part of this team."
"You can simply just, rip out their blood." I nodded. "Haha." Callias was laughing really loudly. "Can you rip our blood out?" I didn't respond, Callias gulped. "Can you?"
"Yes, but I won't, we are a team." I can see how that could scare someone. "Which dungeon are we going to?" I wanted to change the subject, Victoria and Callias took a seat on the ground, so I did the same. Samantha went back to her sleeping bag.
"We are going to The Iron Tombs." I have never heard of that. "The mana beast there are pretty strong, most have armor, that's why there are only five teams going in." That means twenty people. "Our job is to scout it out and find if there is a mutated mana beast inside." We were just the scouting party? "When we find it, we are to report it to the higher ups, so they can send us help."
"The Iron Tombs, you say the mana beast are strong?" I asked, curious about this place now, and starting to get anxious.
Callias answered for her. "The basic mana beast on the floor are called Flukets, they are like Snarlers, but have iron plates on their shoulders." What the hell is a Fluket? "In groups they are dangerous, but alone they are pretty weak." That's the same with any beast. "This is my first dungeon raid with a team during this time, it's the same with Samantha." I looked at Victoria. "Victoria lost her last team." Callias said sadly.
"I'm sorry to hear that." I lowered my head showing my condolences.
"It's fine, The Scorching Delves was a dangerous place, and we didn't find anything." The Scorching Delves? I really should read up on the dungeons in the Beast Glades. "We lost have our force clearing that dungeon."
"Let's hope it's different in The Iron Tombs." Callias picked up a pouch of water and started to drink it.
"It will be." Victoria leaned back. "I won't allow any of you to die." I turned to Samantha; she was packing up her supplies. "We'll be moving out in an hour; do you need anything Veer?" I shook my head no, I got everything I needed in my ring. "Mind if I see your weapon?" I tilted my head, and then pulled out my elven sword and handed it to her. "An elven design, nice."
Callias gave me a weird look. "Are you an elf? Not that theres something wrong with that." I kept my mask on but slid the hood of the cloak down to my ears. "Oh, then why do you have an elven sword? Also, why are you hiding your appearance?"
"I have my reasons, and the sword was a gift from a higher up." I took the blade back and slipped it back into my mana ring. "How far away is the Iron Tombs?"
"We have a portal to the entrance, so five minutes." Victoria stood up. "I'm going to go talk to the commander of the scout party, no one has been inside the Iron Tombs yet, we want to make sure we do everything correctly." She walked out of the tent, if no one has been inside of the Iron Tombs, there could be Alacryans there, I mean we know Alacryans are in tunnels pretty much everywhere.
I stood up as well. "Where are you going?" Samantha asked as she put her supplies into her ring.
"I was planning on walking around, check things out before we go." I told her honestly, I wanted to see if there was anything interesting going on here.
"I'll come with you." Samantha and I walked out of the tent and started to walk around. "That booth sells weapons if you need an extra one." She pointed to a man standing in his booth with all types of weapons.
We continued to walk. "Why did you join up for the dungeon raids?" I asked as we passed grown ass men wearing armor. They stared me down, probably because I was a short boy, or the mask.
"I am a A Class Adventurer, I thought my experience could benefit Dicathen." That's probably true, Samantha did fight against the Elderwood Guardian, she knows what a S Class Mana Beast can do. "You said Note was your brother, how is he doing?"
"He's alright." He wasn't in the best of states at the moment, with everything that happened with our parents, but she didn't need to know that. "Speaking of him, you have experience fighting against S Class beasts, the Elderwood Guardian."
"I mean, I wouldn't say that I did much in that fight, Note took it down single handedly." She laughed. "I don't know how, but he did."
I sighed. "Yeah, my brother is quite strong." We turned down another row of tents. "Who are the other four teams coming with us, or don't you know?"
"I have no clue; this is my first raid too." I hope it isn't anyone I know. "We should be fine if we have you, and your magic." She smiled at me. "I can't wait to see you in action."
"Well, thanks." I didn't know if I should take that as a compliment. "You know water is my main element as well, I use fire and wind a lot, but water is usually my go to."
"Oh, that's awesome, I bet you are a hundred times better than me at it." That might be true, but for reasons she couldn't understand. "Is your secret magic, a water type of deviant."
"Yeah." My eyes went wide when I felt the presence of someone familiar, then they came into sight.
"Oh my." Samantha exclaimed. "That's..." Standing with a group of ten guards was a Lance. "That's Lance Bairon." I quickly turned away from him, he couldn't be here for me, but if he senses me, it could end quickly for me. "Where are you going? We should go up to him."
"Nope, let's go." I said as we started to walk away.
"Aww, alright." I guess it's not every day you get to see a Lance, however, I've been seeing them every day for the last four months. "I heard Lance Bairon is the strongest Lance."
"Nope, it's Varay, now let's go." We turned back down the row of tents ours was in.
"You speak like you know them." We went back to walking normally. "Wait, didn't you say you were related to someone higher up?"
"Yep, because I do know most of them, keep that between us though." I continued to track Lance Bairon's movements, he was walking our way, but I don't think he's looking for anyone. "You know, I'm good, let's just get back to the tent and wait to move out."
"Oh okay." She didn't question me on my I was so nervous around a Lance, which was good. We made our way inside our tent, and I felt Lance Bairon enter into a tent maybe five tents over, there was a whole team inside.
That was when Victoria walked back in. "Get ready, we have a new report, Lance Bairon is here to inform us." Shit. "He wants the Iron Tombs teams to come outside."
"Lance Bairon is here!" Callias stood up quickly. "I wonder what he has to say."
We all walked outside, and Lance Bairon came out of a tent with another team, then we gathered with the sixteen other people going to the Iron Tombs and stood around Lance Bairon. There were only two guards with him, the other eight must have left to do something else, maybe to look for the person who took down all the guards at the Xyrus portal, haha.
"Listen up." Lance Bairon said coldly, silencing everyone. "Your job is to clear the dungeon to the best of your abilities, if you come across anything out of the ordinary report it, and let it go." Why is a Lance here to tell us that. "There have been reports that Alacryans have been spotted near the Iron Tombs, if you see any, do not engage, you are a scout team, not an infantry." Everyone nodded, my first dungeon could have Alacryans inside, that's nice. "Commander Xander has it from here."
Lance Bairon turned around, and started to walk away, an elf with short green like hair stepped up. He had a spear on his back, and wore green armor that matched his hair, he didn't seem muscular though. I took a look around at our unit, it was filled with humans and elves, no dwarves.
"I'm Commander Xander, I'll be in charge of this scouting team, I want everybody to be ready to roll out in ten minutes, the team of dwarves they sent there, already created a base of operations on the top floor for us." I cracked my neck and adjusted the mask on my face. "Let's move out."
