Chapter 39: The Iron Tombs Pt. I

My Beginning After the EndWords: 10927

We were currently in our base, there were twenty of us, each team had two tents located around the base.

The base had two doors, the first one was the exit to the dungeon, and the other was a door that led deeper into the dungeon. Teams were given times during the day when they had to guard the doors. There was one larger tent in the middle where there was food for everyone, and Samantha and I used our water magic to create a stream of water people could use to wash off at.

Our team was about to enter into the dungeon for the first time, we just unpacked everything, and the team that went in first came back moments ago. Everyone was putting on their gear, I was already ready, I had my black cloak and mask on. I was wearing grey shorts with black leggings underneath with armor on my quads, shoulders, and chest.

"You guys about ready?" Victoria asked as she slipped a wand into her waist band. "I have the teleportation device that we can use in case we find anything."

"I'm ready." Samantha said she had on a silver chest plate.

"Same." Callias had armor like me on, only the pieces of armor were longer and covered more, his sword was on his back. I was planning on keeping my sword in my mana ring until I needed it. "Let's go then."

We all started for the back door, the one that led deeper into the dungeon. "Remember what we discussed, Callias and Veer in the front, Samantha and I covering you from behind." Victoria repeated our plan for attack. I didn't know what to expect with the Flukets, the mana beasts that travel in numbers in this dungeon. "We're heading out." Victoria told the two people guarding the door, and they opened it.

As the doors opened, I noticed it led into a tunnel system, there were three routes we could take. "Which one are we going through?" Callias asked as we stepped past the door, and it shut behind us.

"It doesn't matter, the first team took the right, so let's just go to the left." Victoria told us, and we started for the left tunnel. Callias and I leading the way, I activated "Blood Oath" and started to sense for mana beast.

"Samantha pull out your lighting artifact." Victoria ordered. "Veer, you said you could sense people's blood, how about mana beast?"

"Already on it." I replied. "I can sense mana beast ahead, but way further down." There were about fifty mana beasts gathered together ahead of us in a big cavern.

As we walked down the tunnel cautiously, Samantha activated the lighting artifact, and the dark earthen tunnel became easier to see. "Let's just be smart, we don't want to rush into anything." I still didn't have my sword out, but since I did feel mana beast in the distance, I decided to pull it out. I then covered my blade in a deep blue of sapphire fire. It also helped with being able to see around us.

"Show off." Callias said as he lit his sword with a dark red fire. "How far ahead?"

"I don't know, maybe one hundred yards." I just guessed that number, but as we continued to walk, I noticed that the adrenaline I felt during the attack at Xyrus was returning. The Serpent wanted to be let out, or just wanted to feed on blood, I don't know, but it felt good. This was exciting, the urge to kill grew more and more as we got closer to the beast, not my doing, but the Serpents.

"Stop." Victoria said as the entrance into the cavern appeared in front of us, I could see that inside of it was lit up, which made fighting easier for normal people, even if I couldn't see, I could still sense them. "Everybody get ready, Callias and Veer you guys go in first, and we will follow you with support." I was fidgeting, my first battle, even though it was a very, very, very small one. "Alright, let's go."

Callias and I started to move a little faster, and as we got to the entrance, we launched ourselves into the cavern, in the middle were the Flukets, they turned to us. I noticed that they had some sort of armor on their shoulders, they were covered in white fur, and reminded me of a Gorilla like animal.

They all started towards us, and Callias and I prepared to fight them head on, I reached for the first row of Flukets's blood. I raised ice swords out of the ground aiming them at the middle of the group, and simultaneously ripped the blood out of the ones in front of us, killing just about have with two spells.

"What the!" Callias said as he stared at me, a Fluket appeared in front of him, and he slid his sword into its stomach. "Come on." This was exciting! We met the rest of them head on, as earthen spears and water like bullets were launched over our heads.

A Fluket appeared in front of me, and I placed my sword right in between its eyes. I then felt for the blood in the two Flukets to my sides, and pushed the blood out of them, making blood shoot out of them from their backs.

A fist came down on me, I sidestepped the attack, and brought my sword up into its throat. I brought an ice sword out of the ground into another one's chest, then ripped the blood out of another, killing both instantly.

Callias flew in, and sliced through another, and another, I felt for the remaining seven Flukets's blood and just ripped it out of them with ease. There was one where Callias and I were standing, and blood drenched us, the only issues with this blood, it wasn't red, it was more yellowish.

We killed the fifty Flukets in a matter of seconds, of course I killed more than half of them, but it was a pretty easy first battle. "Really?" I turned to Callias to my side now, yellow blood ran down his chest. "There wasn't a lot left, you didn't need to kill them like that."

"Haha." Victoria and Samantha laughed as they approached us. "Good job, Veer, that power of yours is pretty amazing." I wiped away the blood running down my face, but a sudden noise caught our attention, it was more growling, we all looked at the tunnel the Flukets were guarding. "Veer." I sensed more approaching.

"More of them, maybe twenty, nothing special." I told her honestly. "Want me to handle them?"

"Just stay in formation." Victoria ordered. "Samantha, water barrier around us, Veer do your thing inside for protection." A barrier of water formed around us and protected us from the outside world.

Wow, that's a pretty good idea, not necessary at the moment, but still a good idea. "Okay." I waited for the approaching Flukets to appear; I was going to just rip out their blood. Ehh, what's the point in waiting, I placed my sword into the ground, and just let my flames eat at the rocks. I then focused on the group of Flukets, and reached into their bodies, then made each one explode inside of the tunnel, one by one.

The adrenaline in me was still pounding, why was I feeling like this. "Shouldn't they be here, the growling stopped." Callias said as he got closer to the barrier of water. "I can't hear anything anymore."

I removed my sword from the ground. "They're all dead, we can continue." They all looked at me in confusion. "I killed them before they showed up, there isn't any more here at least." I started to walk up to the barrier, and moved the water out of my way so I could get through. "Come on, let's go on further."

"Okay." Victoria said hesitantly. "You can release the spell, I guess, stay in formation let's continue. We'll come back for the beast cores later." We all nodded and started to walk again, as we got to the spot, I killed the beast at, we had to step over their deformed bodies.

"Damn." Callias stepped in a puddle of blood. "I'm happy you joined our team, even if you are some royal boy."

"I'm not a royal boy." I insisted as I stepped over the last body. "Ahh." I said as I noticed in front of us now was a dark staircase that led deeper into the dungeon. "I don't sense anything down there yet."

"Proceed with caution." Victoria answered.

Callias and I led the group down the stairs, using our sword's fire to see the lighting artifact didn't help that much. "Veer, let us know if you sense anything." I nodded my head, as I turned to Victoria.

"Nothing yet." I still didn't sense anything close, we stepped onto the ground off of the stairs, it just brought us into another tunnel. I concentrated on sensing for anything beast or human, there could be Alacryans down here, but I highly doubt it.

I could sense all sorts of beasts, but nothing near us. "There is blood all over me, I feel nasty."

Samantha laughed as we walked on, I couldn't see anything ahead of us, just more of the tunnel. "You two are going to have to wash up when we get back."

"You're telling me." Callias flung more blood off of him. "Give me a warning next time." He shot me a glare.

I was covered as well; I knew what it felt like. "Stay on guard." Victoria chimed in. "We don't know what mana beast could be down here, more Flukets, maybe even some beasts not supposed to be here."

"Just having some fun, captain." Callias said nonchalantly.

I was still focusing, I wanted to find more mana beast, if there was a mutated mana beast here; I wanted to be the one to kill it, this would just show everyone just how strong I was. Thinking about this made the bloodlust in my stomach coming from the Serpent grow, it made me want to smile a little under the mask, I held that back though.

That's when I felt it, more mana beasts coming for us, but something was off. "We got another group of Flukets coming for us, in the tunnel."

"How close?" Victoria asked as we stopped in the tunnel.

"Pretty far, which means this tunnel goes on for a while." They were maybe three hundred yards away from us. Why was this tunnel so long? Shouldn't there be another cavern around here or something? "Two hundred yards." I said as growling could be heard. I quickly spun my head towards the walls, there was mana beast moving on our sides, there must be caverns around us, even though there not in groups.

"Can you kill them from here?" Callias asked as they got within a hundred yards of us.

"Yes." I got ready to kill them, but as I stepped up, the mana beast on our sides started for us. "What the?"

"What is it?" Victoria asked, as I felt something coming at us extremely fast, but on our sides.

"I sense mana beast coming at us in the walls?" I said questioningly, the Flukets were now fifty yards from us, I turned and reached into their bodies. "Boom!" The tunnel wall to our left opened, it was like the wall moved to form a path for something. I turned to the opening, releasing my grip on the Flukets, and a giant worm covered in a silver coat of armor from one end to another, possibly twenty feet in length, came flying out toward Samantha, and the growling got even louder.

"Ahhhh!" Samantha screamed, as she fell down and looked up at the worm opening its mouth to swallow her, behind me the Flukets came rushing in ten yards away.

"Shit!" Victoria screamed as she launched an earthen spear at the worm, it wasn't going to do anything, I could see from here that the armor on it was strong enough to protect it from her attack.
