Chapter 4: Big Brother

My Beginning After the EndWords: 12443

(One and a Half Year Later)

Ellie and I were now three in a half, Arthur should be home any day. I was starting to get really excited, Arthur Leywin was my actual big brother! I still couldn't believe it.

I was currently laying on the couch in the living room by myself, I still don't have any attribute mana. However, I was practicing moving mana inside of my blood, I used a cut I got while I was training with my dad to insert pure mana into the wound. I was hoping that this pure mana would turn into water attributed mana eventually. This was the first step to becoming a Blood Deviant, if it was possible. I still had no clue.

My mom was right though, I have gotten extremely better with a sword. Nothing close to how Arthur was at my age, but I had a knack for picking up things pretty fast, probably something I got from reading all day.

I was still in the red stage, but was at light red.

That's when I heard movement and cries near the entrance of the mansion, but I didn't feel like moving. Why did I hear crying? Did Ellie fall and hurt herself? I'm sure she is fine, not much I can do.

Eventually I heard footsteps heading toward the living room. "Veer! Where are you?" My mother shouted; her voice sounded like she was the one crying.

I stood up and replied to her. "In here!"

My mom walked into the room with Ellie in her arms and my eyes widened, not from her but the kid walking right beside her. He had auburn hair just like mom, blue eyes like dad. I froze as they approached.

My dad walked up to me and picked me up in his arms. "Dad?" I said questioningly as we all sat down on the couch.

My mom and dad were on the ends with Ellie and I on their laps and Arthur was in the middle.

I still was just staring at Arthur in shock. He looked just like I would imagine.

"You had twins?" Arthur was smiling at our mother.

"Yes, this is your sister Eleanor, and that is your brother Virion." At the mention of my name, Arthur's eyes widened slightly. "We named him after the person who saved you."

"Say hi to your older brother." My dad motioned.

Arthur turned to me. "Hi, brother." I said and I felt joy spread throughout my body, was it because I was a child or was I actually this excited to see him.

"Hello, Virion. It's a pleasure to meet you." He laughed and patted the top of my head, which filled my body with even more joy.

"Big bruwder." Ellie said.

"It's also a pleasure to meet you, Eleanor." He patted her head this time. That's when I noticed Sylvie on the ground staring up at me. I forgot about her, I squirmed in my dad's lap, and he put me on the ground.

"That's Sylvie." I slowly got down on the ground and started to pet her. "Sylvie say hi."

"Kyu." This little thing was a dragon, I had to remember that.

I don't know how long it was, but they spent a while talking. Arthur talked about everything that happened, little did he know that I knew he wasn't telling us the truth. Then my parents told him what was going on in their lives. It was amazing, this family now meant everything to me. I still couldn't even process Arthur being here.

My dad spoke up. "So, Arthur, what stage are you?" I didn't even know, but if I had to guess it was in the orange.

"Light red." Arthur was smiling, my eyes went wide, I was the same core level as him? How?

"Veer what core are you?" My father asked.

"Wait, Virion awakened already?" Arthur was looking at me confused. Sylvie jumped onto my lap as I was sitting criss cross apple sauce.

"He sure did, and earlier than you." My mother was still holding on to Arthur.

"That's impressive Virion...Where is your core at?" I never told anyone what my core stage was. They are going to be stunned, should I lie? Na.

"Light red." Everyone's eyes went wide. "Is that bad?"

"No champ, it's, it's just, remarkable." My father was too stunned to complete his sentence.

Sylvie nuzzled up into my chest. "Virion, that is amazing." Arthur was smiling at me in shock.

"Brother, would you train me?" I came out and asked the question I knew I needed to ask. "Dad, is gone most of the day, and I want to practice more."

"Let's let your brother settle in before we talk about stuff like that." My mother held on to my brother tighter. "We finally got him home."

Arthur, though, responded. "I would love to help you Virion." My eyes widened in joy.

"Veer, I wampt her." Ellie exclaimed and reached for Sylvie. I quickly picked her up and held her away from Ellie.

"No, Ellie."

"Veer!" My mother snapped and I quickly handed Sylvie over.

"Sorry Ellie."

"It's good to be home." Arthur said while he leaned his head up against mom.

Uncle Vincent, Aunty Tabitha, and Lilia came into the room and my parents introduced them to Arthur.

"Want to go spar really quick?" I knew this was going to happen.

"Let him rest first, dear." My mom wasn't going to win this one.

As my father and brother fought, I realized just how far I needed to go. Ellie and Lilia were playing with Sylvie as I admired my brother.

"My god." Aunty Tabitha exclaimed.

"Y-your son is amazing." Uncle Vincent was in shock as Arthur used his Lightning Deviant magic.

They stopped fighting, ending it in a draw. "Arthur you are a deviant."

"Yeah." He scratched his chin. "I learned it a couple weeks ago. I still have to master it though.

He was way more than a Lightning Deviant.

"He's a quadra elemental." I quipped; I shouldn't have said that. Shit! Everyone turned to me, I mean everyone. Arthur looked at me in shock, whereas everyone else looked at me in confusion.

"What did you say Veer?" My father asked, standing at the bottom of the stairs I was sitting on. "Did you say Arthur was a quadra elemental?" He turned to Arthur, so did everyone.

"He's right." Arthur walked up to everyone. "Sorry, I didn't mean to keep that a secret."

"It's fine honey, but how did you Veer?" I was sitting up against my mom. Ellie came over with Sylvie in her arms and Lilia beside her.

Shit! How do I explain this? "I can see the mana around him. He's controlling all of it." Hopefully, that's a decent excuse. I mean it was a total lie, because I wasn't looking at the mana around him at all.

Eventually we all went side and rested up.

---

It was dinner time, and we were all sitting around the dinner table. I was next to Arthur and Sylvie; Ellie was on my mother's lap.

Steak was brought out to us by the servants, and my mom asked Arthur. "Arthur, honey, would you be willing to cut Veer's food?"

Arthur turned to me. "Here Veer, let me cut your food." He took my plate and started to cut my steak into little pieces. My mom lets me train with a sword, but I wasn't allowed to cut my own food.

"You know Rey, you should really think about sending Arthur to Xyrus Academy." Uncle Vincent spoke up.

"He is too young, Vincent." My mother exclaimed as she fed Ellie.

"He almost beat Rey, maybe should have. He is stronger than the kids at the academy already, he would do great things there."

"You think."

Arthur smiled at me and gave me my plate of food. "I have something to say about all this." Everyone turned to him. "I just got home and want to spend time with my family. However, I plan on, and want your permission mom and dad, to become an adventure before I go to any academy."

"Absolutely not." My mother answered quickly.

"Alice, I don't know." My father spoke up.

It took about twenty minutes and a lot of back up from my father, but they eventually came to an agreement. All I know is that Arthur has to stay home for six months before leaving again. He also has to go with an adult, which we know will be Jasmine.

So, Note was born. Arthur's adventure identity.

Then a realization came to me at the table. Elijah! How could I handle Elijah, he was Nico?! Agrona needed Nice and Arthur to form an anchor to bring Cecilia here, if Arthur doesn't meet Elijah during his time as an adventurer. He'll just meet him at Xyrus Academy.

There wasn't anything I could do again. Well, I could kill him in his sleep, but I couldn't. I never killed before, and I'm not prepared for it yet.

I also can't expose it to Arthur, because he'll know about me then. Maybe that wasn't a big deal.

"I think it's time for bed you two." Everyone started to get up. "How would you guys like Arthur to tuck you in?"

"Big buder." Ellie exclaimed in joy as my mom carried her.

"I would love too." I walked beside Arthur in the hall, until we made it to our room.

Ellie and I got into our beds which were on opposite sides of the room. "Buder." Arthur was sitting on Ellie's bed. Mom and Dad were watching from the door.

"Good night little sister." Arthur patted her head and tucked in her blanket, then he made his way over to my bed. "Good night little brother." He did the same thing for me.

"Good night big brother." I rested my head on my pillow.

Then I heard him whisper. "I'll train you before I become an adventure." My eyes went wide. "Sleep well." He stood up and the only light in the room coming from the hallway went away as the door closed.

"Big boder, is amazing." Ellie said from across the room.

"It's brother Ellie."

"Boder."

"Brother."

"Boder.

I just shook my head. "There you go."

"Dot you think boder is amazing?"

"Yeah, he is."

"I want mana core like him and you." She said sadly.

"You'll have one, don't you worry."

"How come you and boder have it already."

We are reincarnates, is what I wanted to tell my sister. "I don't Ellie."

"I'm big sister now." I sighed; I knew this day would come. The day she brings in the fact that she is older than me by a few minutes. Arthur coming home, and Ellie and I calling him big brother must have caused this.

"No, Ellie. I'm not calling you that." I told her plainly.

"I'm big sister."

"Ellie."

"Big sister."

Was this what it was like having siblings?

"Fine, big sister." I was not calling her that.

Our door swung open. "Go to sleep you two." Our mother peeked into the room, and I immediately went quiet.

"What's my name?" Ellie broke the silence.

Oh my god. "Big sister."

(One Week Later)

"Veer, to be good at fighting you do need to have good instincts, but it's also important to know the proper techniques in holding your sword. I'm going to show you four stances, which I'm sure father has taught you." Arthur was holding a practice sword, and started doing the Ox, the Plow, the Fool, and the Roof. He was right, I knew them already.

"Yeah, he did."

"Okay, show your big brother." I started to do the stances. "Your feet are two close together, make sure to widen them." I listened to his instructions.

We went at this for a while, until I needed a break.

Arthur and I were sitting on the stairs together. "Big brother."

He turned to me. "What is it?"

I decided last night that I needed to ask Arthur to do me a favor in the future, but I needed to be careful how I worded it.

"I read in a book somewhere, about Beast Cores and Beast Wills." I paused and scratched my chin. "You have a beast will don't you."

He looked at me surprised, by what I said. "How'd you know?"

"You said you found Sylvie at a den where the mother died. I just assumed that it had a beast core and beast will. I'm assuming Sylvie is a strong mana beast."

Arthur nodded his. "Yeah, your right."

"You know, dungeons have powerful mana beast, which means you'll have opportunities to find beast cores, so I was wondering." I paused and looked at him. "If you could bring me home a beast core with a beast will."

He tilted his head at me. "Why do you want one Veer?"

"I want to be strong like you and protect everyone."

Arthur placed a hand on my head. "It's good you want to be strong Veer, but it's my job to protect you and Ellie." He stood up and grabbed his sword. "But if I come across a beast core with a beast will, I'll give it to you."

I shot up in excitement. "Really!"

"Yes, but I don't think I'll be able to help you with mastering it." Arthur spun his sword in his hand so smoothly. "I might have an idea, but you may have to leave home for a while."

"What's your idea?"

"It doesn't matter, but if I do find a beast will you'll be the first person I see with it."

"Thanks, Arthur." I ran up and hugged him.

If I get a beast will, I will be one step closer to getting stronger. Of course, beast wills were rare, but if my brother says he'll try to find me one, I bet he will.

"No problem little brother." I let him go. "Let's get back to training."

I still could only reinforce my weapon and body with mana. I wanted to be able to use my attributed mana, but for some reason I couldn't yet.
