Chapter 40: The Iron Tombs Pt. II

My Beginning After the EndWords: 11451

"I sense mana beast coming at us in the walls?" I said questioningly, the Flukets were now fifty yards from us, I turned and reached into their bodies. "Boom!" The tunnel wall to our left opened, it was like the wall moved to form a path for something. I turned to the opening, releasing my grip on the Flukets, and a giant worm covered in a silver coat of armor from one end to another, possibly twenty feet in length, came flying out toward Samantha, and the growling got even louder.

"Ahhhh!" Samantha screamed, as she fell down and looked up at the worm opening its mouth to swallow her, behind me the Flukets came rushing in ten yards away.

"Shit!" Victoria screamed as she launched an earthen spear at the worm, it wasn't going to do anything, I could see from here that the armor on it was strong enough to protect it from her attack.

I quickly reached into the worm, and yanked the blood out of it, causing it to explode all over Samantha. The worms body parts were sent in every direction, I didn't have time to see if she was okay. I brought my sword up and blocked a fist coming at me from a Fluket, then pushed my blue fire on to it, setting it on fire.

Callias slid his sword into a Fluket, and then spun and cut off the head of another. "Veer, Callias, hold your ground, Samantha is down." Victoria ordered, and as fast as I could I ripped the blood out of the beast in our vicinity, killing maybe six.

I turned to Samantha and Victoria, and brought up an ice wall to protect them, in case any got by us. "Callias, it's just you and me." I told him as I formed another wall of ice in front of us, separating us from the girls and the beast.

"What are you doing?" Callias asked. "We can handle it."

"I know." As the Flukets pounded on the ice wall, trying to break it. "I want to make sure no more of those worms show up." I didn't know a mana beast like that existed, at the moment it looked like they either all turned around or stopped moving.

"Oh, smart." Callias was still in a fighting position. "It looks like Samantha is fine." I didn't bother to turn around, I conjured ice swords underneath the mana beast on the other side of the wall, killing them all. "Damn." Callias shot me a look of disbelief.

I broke the ice barrier separating us from the girls. "Is she alright?" I asked Victoria as she wrapped bandages around Samantha's leg. I could tell Samantha was in shock, I bet her life flashed before her eyes.

"I-I'm fine." Samantha answered.

"An Earth Worm's tooth got her in the leg, but you saved her life, Veer." Victoria finished applying the bandages. "I see you took care of everything else as well." I nodded. "I don't think she can keep going, let's call it here."

"N-no, i'm fine." Samantha stood up slowly. "I can keep going." She limped a little but seemed fine.

"Are you sure?" Victoria asked.

"Yes." We all gathered around her.

"Mind if I try something?" I asked Samantha if she wanted to keep going, I could help her at, she nodded her head, and I bent down and placed my hand over her leg. I started to use my blood magic to close the wound and help her with the pain. "Is that better?"

I got back up, and she started to walk a lot better as we watched. "Yeah, it feels normal now. What did you do?" Samantha started to examine her leg.

"I guess I didn't tell you guys, but with my blood powers I can heal people." I fixed the mask on my face. "There all dead, we can keep going, I'll be tracking the worms from now on."

"Okay, let's keep going." Victoria said, and we all got back into position, Samantha was walking normally after I healed her. "Veer, can you sense anymore Earth Worms?"

"Yes." I told her honestly as I stared at the wall to my left. "They aren't near us, but they move at a high speed for a worm."

"If you sense any movement change let us know, Samantha can you form a water barrier?" Victoria ordered; I still couldn't see anything ahead of us as we stepped over the Fluket's corpses.

"Y-yeah." Water formed all around us as we walked down the tunnel. I checked my mana reserves, everything was going smoothly, I still had tons of mana, and I was already replenishing the mana I used.

The walk was long, but after about ten minutes with no action, I sensed more of the enemy. "About eighty Flukets in the cavern ahead." We could all see the light coming from the cavern. I could take them all out by myself, but having to protect everyone at the same time made it more difficult.

"Same formation." Victoria and Samantha got ready behind us as the water barrier disappeared.

"This should be fun." The fire on Callias's sword intensified.

"We'll take them down, and then set up a teleportation gate in the next tunnel." Everyone nodded as we got ready to strike, the excitement still was coursing through me.

"You know, I can kill them by myself." I told them all. "If we don't want to risk it."

"No, you can't go in alone." Victoria said.

"Yeah, no way, I want to have some fun." Callias gripped his sword tighter. "You won't be able to kill all of them with your blood magic." I tilted my head, knowing that I could. "Well, we're helping anyways."

I shrugged and started to make my way into the cavern with Callias on my side, my bloodlust started to seep out of me from the Serpent deep within, Callias shot me a wearily look, and I pulled the bloodlust back into me.

The Flukets turned to us, and Callias and I got into a fighting position, then they all started to sprint at us. I raised my left hand off of my sword, and conjured water scythes, I shot them at the approaching horde of mana beast.

My scythes cut through them with ease if placed in the right spot, but their armor protected them from my attack if it hit it. I ripped the blood out of the four closest to me, and then launched myself at another using wind magic and slid my sword into it, killing it.

Callias to my left now, got knocked backwards by an attack by a Fluket, I reached into the beast's body and ripped the blood out of it before more of them could pile up on him, he sent me a nod and continued attacking. Water and earth spells rained down on them from the girls behind us, killing a couple at a time.

I swung my blade at an incoming mana beast, slicing it in half with blue fire, then felt the blood surrounding me in the mana beast and ripped them to pieces, causing blood to explode everywhere.

An earth spear shot by me and killed a Fluket heading for me, I examined the remaining mana beast, there was maybe forty left. I activated "Blood Acceleration." to make me faster, and started cutting down beasts left and right, making sure none of them got by Callias and me.

My blue flames danced over the corpses of countless Flukets, and when the number was cut down to ten, I turned to Callias who was pulling his sword out of a corpse. "No, don't you dare!" I had the blood erupt out of the remaining beasts, killing them all, covering us in yellow blood. "Bro." He wiped the blood on his face away.

"My bad." I said as I flung blood off of myself.

"Nice work everyone." Victoria said from behind. "Let's go on ahead and set up a teleportation gate." We all agreed and made our way to the next tunnel, Victoria used her earth magic to make a divot into the wall, and then started to set up the gate.

There weren't any mana beasts near us, so there was no rush. "Veer, you're amazing." Samantha placed a hand on my shoulder as we looked down at Victoria. "I can see how you are related to Note."

"Yeah, I'll admit it, if you weren't with us, there would be zero chance we came out of that unscathed." Callias went to hit me playfully, but I held his hand in place using blood magic. "No fair."

"Haha." Samantha laughed, seemingly back to acting like herself after almost being swallowed whole. "He's right, a group of four against that many mana beasts could have ended poorly."

"We did well, better than my first raid in my last dungeon." Victoria said, as a light flickered, and a portal opened. "Let's go." We all stepped through and ended up outside of the base, in front of the three different tunnels. Victoria walked up and knocked on the giant door, a panel opened, and a guard looked at us all, then the door opened. "We all need to wash up."

"Yeah, I wonder why?" Callias said looking at me, Victoria was the only one of us without that much blood on her.

"My bad." I told him as I deactivated "Blood Oath."

"I'll go report to Commander Xander with Samantha, you two go wash up first, then we'll go after you." Victoria told Callias and I. "I'm sure we made it the furthest out of all the groups so far, he should be informed right away."

"Understood." Callias started to walk to the bathing area.

"Captain, shouldn't the girls go wash up first." Samantha said, as I started to walk after Callias. "I feel so disgusting."

"It's my job as captain to report back, and after what Veer and Callias did for us out there, they deserve to wash up first." Victoria turned toward Commander Xander's tent, and now that I think about it, she really didn't do much.

"Uhhh, fine, I guess Veer does deserve it, he saved my life." Samantha winked at me, as I caught up to Callias.

As we got to the bathing area, I took off my cloak, but not my mask, Callias started to undress as well. "Why are you hiding yourself like that? I know you have your reasons, but don't you think we have a right to know who you are?" Callias said as he jumped into the stream of water, in only his boxers.

"No." I told him as I did the same, jumping into the water with my shorts and shirt still on. I wasn't embarrassed, but I did have the body of a nine year old, at least I had muscles.

"At least tell me your real name, my full name is Callias Fleet." I just sat there in the water, the blood was mostly on my cloak, so I was going to have to wash that separately.

"My name is Veer." He didn't need to know my last name.

"You suck." He laughed. "I believe you are a boy, I can just tell, but it doesn't matter, with your abilities you need to be out here." Wow, at least someone thought that, even if it was someone, I met eight hours ago.

"I'll neither confirm or deny that, but thanks for saying that." My first dungeon run went pretty well, except for Samantha almost dying, but I saved her.

Callias was able to handle himself too, he fought like an experienced adventurer. It was nice to be here with a team, but it wasn't even necessary, I could have taken out all the mana beast we came across today by myself. I was holding back my attacks, because they were all there, the only time I really went full strength was towards the end, and that was because the Serpent was going wild inside of me.

"I'll respect that." Callias said as he dumped his head under water, I turned away from him, so no one could see my face, then slightly lifted my mask and dumped my head under water.

When I removed my head from the water, I rubbed my eyes, and placed the mask back on. "I think I'm good, not really a bathing guy." I jumped out of the water, my clothes dripping wet. "I'll see you at the tents."

"You're soaking wet." Callias called out, and I waved my hand causing wind magic to surround me and dry me off. "Never mind." I then made my way to my cloak, and started to clean it off with water and wind magic until it was as good as new. The yellow blood marks on my mask from the Fluket's blood wasn't going to come off easily, so I decided to leave it there. I slipped on my cloak and left the bathing area for our tents.
