Chapter 48: The Sand Grotto Pt. I

My Beginning After the EndWords: 11056

(One Day Later)

Yesterday, I was informed on everything that was going on in here, turns out they have gotten pretty far into the dungeon, and the only thing they found were mana beast with weapons, no mutants.

Commander Jagger was jacked, he was very muscular, and wielded a giant hammer. He was carrying it around as he went to each team and told them what they were to do today. Our team was going into the dungeon with the Twin Horns to search for the mutant or anything else out of the ordinary. Besides being super bulky, Commander Jagger was a pretty nice guy, he told me how happy he was to have me joining the squad here. I think he heard the stories about what happened at the Iron Tombs.

"Let's go." Helen said to the eight of us waiting to go into the dungeon, we stepped through a checkpoint they already had set up, and we ended up in another cavern with no mana beast inside. "This place is safe; we have to enter through that tunnel and that's where they left off." Helen pointed and everyone nodded, we must be pretty far into the dungeon.

"You ready?" Callias asked me, and I nodded. I activated "Blood Oath" as we entered into the tunnel at a fast pace. Callias and I ignited our swords with fire. "I wish my fire was blue." He said as he looked at my sword.

"Little demon." Adam chimed in as he ran in front of me.

"Adam, Veer, Callias, and Jasmine in the front, everyone else will take down the enemy from a distance." Helen told us. "Is that okay with you, Victoria."

"Yes, that's perfect." Victoria responded from behind me.

"The Esene will be in the next cavern, so be ready." Helen shouted; I could already sense them. I had no idea what the Esenes were going to look like, but their names were interesting. Hopefully, they're just as weak as the Flukets, they are also D Class beasts.

Everyone started to prepare spells for when we entered the cavern, and as we did, inside was nothing, absolutely nothing. "Huh, aren't there supposed to be beast here?" Callias asked everyone, and then growling could be heard coming from the tunnel across the cavern. "Ohh, here they come."

"Battle formations." Helen shouted as everyone got ready for the approaching beasts to enter the cavern. I got ready to kill them all, it was good to be back here.

The Esenes entered, and I noticed they were like ogres, our height, their skin was pale, like a lighter sand color. They had armor on and weapons in their hands, and it looked like pieces of them were falling off of them. It was very disturbing; I would rather fight the yellow blood invested Flukets.

I could feel blood coursing through them, so that was a good thing. I stood in the middle, with Callias to my right, and Jasmine to my left, with Adam on the far left. These things weren't going to get through us, there were only about one hundred of them. I could kill them all myself, so with a group we should fly by them.

I stepped into the ground and forced ice to cover the field in front of us, where the Esenes were running over, and as their feet touched the ice, I had the ice grow on to them holding them in place.

"Okay?" Helen said weirdly from behind. "Next time tell us you can do that." The beast growled and roared as they tried to free themselves, some even broke their legs trying to escape.

"I thought this would be easier." I conjured wind blades in front of me, and shot them, slicing the heads off of countless Esenes. "Just unload, they can't reach us unless they run over the dead bodies."

"You heard him." Victoria shouted, and everyone that could started launching spells at the immobile mana beast. "Why didn't you do this with the Flukets?"

"I don't know." I answered truthfully. "I think they had mana reinforcing their feet, these don't, it still could have worked though." I conjured some more wind blades and fired them. "My fault." We killed the hundred Esenes in a matter of minutes, because of my spell.

"We might as well keep going, we didn't really do anything here." Helen shot me a smile. "Nice work, Veer." I nodded. "The next cavern will be tougher, so let's be ready." We all collected what we wanted, and then left for the next cavern. I grabbed a couple beast cores and that was it.

"Don't make it so easy next time, please." Callias moved his hand to punch me, but I used my blood magic to stop him. "I'll get you one of these days, kid." He smiled as we entered the next tunnel at a nice steady pace.

"How do you think Arthur is doing?" Jasmine asked me.

"Is that your brother?" Samantha chimed in.

"Yeah." I answered. "I'm sure Arthur is doing just fine, probably being trained rigorously, but it's for the best. He is our savior, is he not, I can't imagine what he will be like when he returns." I actually could imagine, he's gonna be a Lance.

"I can't either." Jasmine told me. "I don't know though; you may give him a run for his money now." She smiled at me. "I remember when you wanted me to train you to use daggers, but your mother didn't allow it." I was surprised Jasmine was talking to me this much.

"Yeah, I'm happy I stuck with the sword though." I had a lot of good teachers.

"Oh my god!" Samantha exclaimed. "You were the one with Note, which means Arthur is Note." She just realized that now? "I'm sorry I forgot who you were, Jasmine."

"Haha." Angela laughed. "Note, I forgot Arthur called himself that."

"It wasn't his best idea." Helen spoke up.

"I thought it was a good name." Jasmine told them all.

"Me too." I agreed with her.

"Both you Leywin boys are scary, I can't imagine what you are going to grow up into with your blood magic." Adam said from in front of me. "A quadra elemental and a blood deviant, ha."

"Is your brother that strong?" Callias turned to me, and I nodded. "Wow, I can't wait to meet him." Well, he might, he most likely wouldn't have if I wasn't here and changed things for him.

"Stop calling Veer a demon as well, Adam." Angela called out. "He is a sweet boy, that name is a misrepresentation of him."

Everyone fell silent. "You realize he can kill us all by ripping out our blood, right?" Adam looked over his shoulder. "He's a demon, Angela, a scary one." He glared at me. "One I couldn't defeat anymore."

I shook my head no. "You couldn't, and it's fine if he calls me a demon, I think it's a fitting nickname." I turned to Angela. "Thanks for having my back though."

"I have to agree with Adam, this kid here is a demon, the things I've seen him do in the last month, are things I didn't think were possible." Callias chimed in. "However, he doesn't act like a demon, so it's fine." With blood on me, I bet I look like a demon too.

We just continued to walk down the tunnel. "Veer, I just want you to know, if you try that illusion stuff on me again, I'm gonna be pissed." Helen spoke to me from the back of the group. "I don't know how you do it so well after practicing it for four months, but just don't do it to me at least."

"I won't." I told her, I may have to in the future, she doesn't need to know that. "I'm a fast learner, Helen. It really wasn't that hard anyways; you just have to be creative and good at controlling mana."

"That's easy for you to say, it's not normal for someone to just learn illusion magic in four months, no matter their skill." Jasmine surprisingly told me; I didn't think she would react like that. "I don't even think Arthur could learn that fast, actually he probably could."

"It has to be the Leywin genes." Adam said, and everyone laughed. "Has to come from Alice though, because Rey was not a fast learner."

"That's not true, he was pretty smart." Helen defended my father. "Down here in the dungeon of course, up there maybe not."

"That's what I meant." Adam turned to me. "You are more like your mother, but you look more like your father." I knew that already.

"I agree with you there, Adam." Angela spoke. "He doesn't act like Rey at all, more like Alice."

"Ahh, were you a momma's boy?" Callias shot at me.

"He is." Jasmine answered for me, and everyone laughed again.

"How about we don't make fun of the kid who can kill us all if he wants to." Victoria had my back; I knew someone would. "Don't listen to them, Veer." The next cavern was lit up in the distance, and inside I could feel more Esenes.

"Alright, here we go." Helen ordered. "It's round two, everyone, let's get moving." All of us started to run into the cavern, and the Esenes turned to us as we entered. I swung my sword, shooting a large ice blade at them, killing maybe ten, and the conjurers started firing spells at them as they ran towards us.

"Want to make an ice floor like last time?" Callias asked me.

"No, you wanted this to be fun, right?" I swung my blade right through two Esenes, then had blood erupt out of five more, covering the field in blood. I sensed maybe one hundred and fifty, a little more than last time.

"You brat." Callias slid his sword into the chest of the beast in front of him. We were in the same formation we were in last time. I grew ice swords out of the ground, killing five more, then spun and cut the head off another.

A sword came down on me, and I stopped it in midair, using my blood magic, then I dodged an ax from another beast. I pushed my left hand out, causing the blood to erupt out of their backs, killing the two mana beasts.

There was ten running out me and I aimed a water scythe at each one of their heads, killing them all. I felt happiness grow in me with each kill, this was getting fun. I swung my blade cutting one in half, then swung my blade into another. I grew ice swords out of the ground, impaling one more.

Spells were flying everywhere as the Esenes died one after another, there were about thirty left, I wanted to kill some more, and feed the Serpent. I swung my sword, and an ice blade went flying toward a beast and killed it.

An Esene ran up to me, I dodged its ax, and grabbed its throat with my left hand. I smiled as I sent blue flames into its body. I let the beast fall to the ground as it was burning to ash from the inside out.

Helen put an arrow through the last one's eye, and we all released our spells, except for my "Blood Oath."

"Nice work everyone." Helen told us all, this really wasn't a challenging fight. "We should be able to keep going, I think we are all good on mana." Everyone nodded their head, and we started to gather anything we found interesting.

"Nice work." Callias turned to me, as I picked up an old ax a Esene was using.

"You too." I dropped the ax, and looked around, there really wasn't anything worth anything here. I could sense more mana beast in the next cavern, it was going to be a lot like this battle, so I was looking forward for the slaughter.

"Why are you wearing the mask still?" Callias asked me as we stood there together. "You don't need it around us, we know you're a kid who can kill us."

"I like wearing it, I don't know why." I felt like I was a part of their team when I wore this, not just some kid fighting alongside them. "I won't wear it forever, but for now I will."

"I was curious, that's all." Callias shrugged as he threw a sword to the ground.
