Chapter 57: Are you Okay?

My Beginning After the EndWords: 11854

Virion Leywin

"He should be waking up soon, he was only running low on mana, right?" I heard my mother's voice as she spoke to someone. "I have to say, without the blood on him, he looks like he usually does."

"Yeah, any moment, Mrs. Leywin." I didn't know the voice of the person who said this. "I'll be back later, make sure to eat something you four."

"We will." My father's voice rang in my mind, there were four people in this room, not including the person I didn't know. That means my father, mother, Ellie, and someone else was in here, if I had to guess it's probably Tess. The door opened and closed, but I wanted to keep my eyes closed for a little longer. I knew that when I opened them, I would be questioned.

"I hope he wakes up soon." Ellie spoke, and I felt someone grab my hand. "I wonder what happened, Elder Virion really didn't tell you anything?" If they didn't know that I killed one hundred soldiers, Elder Virion must want to keep it a secret for now or didn't want my family knowing at the moment.

"Same." I heard Tess's voice, I was right, she was in the room too. The image of the slaughter played in my mind; I recalled killing all one hundred men. What did I do? I felt my hands start to tremor at the thought. I remembered losing control when I came into contact with the Serpent.

"His hands are shaking?" My mom said, and I could feel all their eyes turn to me. "Veer, are you awake?" As the images replayed in my mind over and over again, I slowly opened my eyes. I was met with bright smiles, and everyone stood up. "Veer." My mom took a step up and hugged me.

"Hey, mom." I embraced her hug.

"You need to stop ending up like this." She told me, and I sent a smile at Tess and Ellie. "I'm tired of seeing you like this." I pictured my sword going into that brown haired Alacryan's throat, and I flinched slightly. "Veer?" My mother let go of me and gave me a worried look.

"I'm fine." I sat up, they tried to stop me, but I wasn't in any pain. I turned to my father. "Dad." He was looking at me differently than everyone else, I wouldn't be surprised if Elder Virion told him about what happened. I forgot, Lance Bairon was actually nice to me back there, maybe I changed our fate.

"Veer, how are you feeling?" He asked me, as everyone continued to stare at me. "Are you in any pain?"

"None, just slightly tired, but no pain." I answered him.

Before he could say anything, Ellie spoke up. "What happened? Did you fight against some crazy strong mana beast? We saw you covered in blood, whose was it?"

"Jeez, haha." laughed, and the images of the army flashed in my mind again, I flinched slightly. "There was a crazy strong mana beast, we fought a Sand Demon." I wasn't going to tell them about the Alacryans, unless they knew about it.

"You fought a Sand Demon?" My father said questioningly. "A Sand Demon as well?" He repeated himself. He said as well, so he definitely knew about the Alacryans, why else would he say that? I nodded my head. "Those things are supposedly extremely strong."

"That sounds strong." My sister added in.

"I wish I could have been there with you." Tess held onto the edge of the bed and gave me a meaningful look. "I think grandfather is easing up to the idea of me fighting in the war, so hopefully I'll be joining you soon." I knew that already.

"That's nice." I slid my feet off the bed. "I'm hungry." I actually wanted to talk to Elder Virion.

"Don't get up, dear." My mother grabbed my shoulder. "Stay in bed, someone will get you food, you should rest." I turned to her, and she pulled me back into the bed.

"Who brought me back, was it Lance Bairon or Aya." I asked, not remembering how I got back here. I passed out in Lance Bairon's arms, but that doesn't mean he got me here.

"Lance Aya." My mother sat on the bed next to me and held me. "She carried you here from the Sand Grotto, I think she was also pretty worried about you, so she'll probably come by." Lance Aya and I did get pretty close.

"Oh, did Lance Bairon return yet?" I asked them. "He was there when I passed out."

"He was." My dad answered me. "Lance Bairon came here and actually made sure you were okay, he seemed pretty worried."

"Yeah, it was weird to see him like that with our family, after what Arthur did to his younger brother." Ellie exclaimed, I bet it was weird. I guess seeing a boy standing around one hundred corpses would cause someone to worry. He's going to have to get used to it.

"I see." Is it possible Lance Bairon and I could become friends? I doubt it, it would be more like close allies. "How are all you guys doing?"

"We've been fine, we are just happy that you are back, Veer." My mom pulled me closer, and I leaned my head into her.

"That's good to hear." I sent her a smile and turned to Tess. "How's your training with Aldir going, Tess."

"Pretty good, he says that I've improved a lot." Tess was still no match for me, no one was, only a Lance could defeat me, I pretty much confirmed that by taking down the company. "Hopefully, like I mentioned before, I can join you in the dungeons."

"You aren't going to ask me about my training?" Ellie interrupted our conversation.

I turned to her. "Sorry, Ellie, how's your training going?"

"Good." She exclaimed with a huge smile. "I've been practicing every day, doing all of exercises Helen taught me."

"That's good." Ellie never really goes out into the field, her first real battle is at the wall, but she is at the top of it the whole time. It's after the war, where she actually is involved in battles. "Mom, dad, can you send word to Elder Virion that I'm up, there are some things we need to talk about?"

"Why don't we wait a little? You don't need to see him right now." My mother told me. "All you did was kill a mana beast, there can't be more to say, besides how the battle went, and I am sure Helen can do that." Helen was here?

"Is Helen here?" She probably knew as well, I'm sure the Lances told the battle squad what happened.

"Yeah, so don't worry, you don't need to report to Elder Virion." My mom insisted on me staying here with her, I understood why, I kept on leaving her, and when I came back, I was always in a bad condition.

"I'll send word." My father interrupted; my mom shot him a disapproving look. "Elder Virion should know he's up, don't worry dear, Veer will be staying here for a while, I believe." He totally knew what I did. He walked out of the room, and most likely went to see Elder Virion himself.

"I'm seriously fine, mom." I nudged myself free from her and got up off the bed.

"You should rest though." My mother stood up as well, I sent her a smile. Ellie and Tess were just watching us. "Veer, get back into the bed."

"She's right, Veer." Tess smiled at me. "You don't have anything to do right now, so relax." They don't know what I know though, there is no time to rest now. I had so much shit to do, and I wanted to make sure I got it done. While I was slaughtering the Alacryans, multiple ideas popped into my head.

"I know." I started to walk to the bathroom. "Can I not use the bathroom though?" I turned to them and sent them a smile, they were silent, but then started to laugh. I shook my head and walked inside.

I closed the door, and then stood there. I proceeded to close my eyes and searched for the Sea Serpent in my mind. The navy serpent was there waiting for me, and I just stared up at it. If its Will was inside of my body, could I talk to it, or could it understand me? I mean I felt it in my hand when I touched its nose, why couldn't I talk to it?

It stared down at me, and I thought inside of my head. "Hey, can you understand me?" The serpent lowered its head again, and we made eye contact, face to face. If I didn't know we were in my mind, I might have been scared now, but I wasn't. "Is that a yes."

Nothing was said, it was a mana beast, maybe it couldn't speak. I reached my hand out and touched its nose again. I felt my power start to grow, and I kept my hand there. I pulled my hand away and opened my eyes. I figured that shit out later, I walked out of the bathroom and gave everyone a smile.

I then sat on the edge of the bed. "Tess, we have to spar again, before I leave again." I looked at her.

"What's the point? Your blood magic is too powerful." She paused for a second then went on. "If we restrict you to no blood magic, then yeah we should, otherwise it feels pointless for the both of us."

I shrugged. "I don't need blood magic to defeat you." I said with a grin. "You know that."

"I don't know, I have gotten pretty strong." Tess didn't know that I killed one hundred trained soldiers by myself, and their deaths are still replaying in my mind at this very moment. I remember cutting the head off of a guy while I was rampaging through them.

"We'll see about that later." I said, I noticed that Boo wasn't here. "Where's Boo, Ellie?"

"He wasn't allowed in here." She answered me. "You should see him though, he has grown."

"I bet." I knew how big he would get.

"Veer, you were just in an intense battle, you should really settle down for a little, before you decide to spar again." My mom was still so worried about me, she knew that I was able to heal myself using blood magic, but still wanted me to stay still.

"I'm all healed up, mom." I assured her. "And sparring with Tess isn't really sparring." I sent her a smile.

"Hey!" She exclaimed, and this made Ellie laugh. "Not all of us are Blood Deviants, and tri-elements."

"You don't need to be like your brother." My mother said not super loudly, but louder than her normal tone. The room fell silent, and I stared at her, stunned. Was that really what frightened her?

"Mom." I gave her a serious look. "I have no intentions of being like my brother." The room felt awkward now.

I was going to be stronger than Arthur, something I never thought was possible. However, the more and more I fight and see the enemies and develop, I see myself being stronger in time. I truly believed that when I hit white core, my blood magic was going to be limitless, anything I wanted to do with it, I was going to be able to do.

"Why are you pushing yourself so much then?" I could see Tess and Ellie slowly backing out of the room, they wanted to give us space, I guess. "You are nine, Veer, almost ten, explain to me what drives you to do all of this?"

I shrugged, and turned to Ellie and Tess opening the door, they froze. "Isn't it obvious, I do it for the people I care about, that's what drives me." That wasn't completely true, I was slowly enjoying the kill. Even when the images of me killing people flash in my mind, I feel a sense of pleasure rush through my body.

My mother's eyes started to water. "I knew that would be your answer, it doesn't help me though, can't you just relax for a little for your mother." She sent me a warm smile. "I won't stop you from doing what you want but spend some time with me now."

I got back into bed without saying a word. I guess she deserves some quality time with her son, but I how so much to do. My mom sat down next to me and held me again like she had earlier. "You're right, I'll stay here for a little."

"Thank you, Veer." She pulled me closer.

"Ahh, momma's boy." Ellie laughed, then walked over to the other side of my mom. "I want to snuggle to, mom."

Ellie laid down on the other side of my mother, so that she was now holding the two of us with each arm. "I'll see you all later." Tess opened the door and left.

This moment brought back some memories.

"I love you two." My mother pulled us closer. "Don't ever change."

I closed my eyes and started to consume the Sea Serpent's power, if he was going to hand it over to me, then I had no reason to deny it. I placed my hand back onto its nose and felt the rush of power.

My head was still resting on my mom, I'll use this time to grow stronger, who knows, maybe with this power, I could reach white core.
