Chapter 68: My First Clone

(One Week Later)

I've only got one more week with Wren, that's if Windsom doesn't show up sooner. I couldn't wait to get back though, and to fight mana beast and Alacryans. Actually, thinking about that, Tess should be joining the fight soon, and that also means Arthur should be back within a year.

Oh shit, did I miss my birthday, was I ten now? I think I was, Ellie going to be pissed I missed our birthday, what am I saying, mom is going to be pissed. She is going to be super angry, my dad will understand, but they won't.

I spun the blood I was controlling in the room, and pushed purified mana into it, then I pushed in water mana. Wren wanted me to try adding one more thing, and that was adding mana in the atmosphere to the blood. He was hoping that this would allow me to form the desired effects.

I was picturing myself, in front of me, with the abilities I have. Wren was pacing around me, watching as I performed the spell. He's been mad at me for not being able to get this spell done. The god thought that it was the easiest thing to do in the world, I believed otherwise.

"Holy shit." Wren said, and I opened my eyes, standing in front of me, was myself. "Finally, goddamn." The clone had my ashy brown hair that was all messy, my brown eyes, same height, and my muscular frame.

"Yes!" I exclaimed. "It's a little freaky, looking at myself like this."

"Make it do something." Wren told me, and I forced the clone to stand on one leg, it did as I wanted. "Really? That's not what I meant."

"What?" I asked him.

"Make him do a spell, brat." I nodded to Wren, understanding what he wanted.

However, the clone spoke to us. "I'm able to do everything." The clone's hand rose, and water formed above it.

"Uhh." Wren turned to me. "Did you make it do that?"

"Nope." I said. "Unless I did it unconsciously."

"You did." The clone spoke again, and the water disappeared. "I do as you command and do whatever is needed."

Wren was looking at me with a confused, but curious glare. "This is unexpected, but makes sense, your clones have real blood in them, real living blood. Where my blood is something, I manifested, that probably makes a big difference."

"You think?" I asked him.

The clone was just staring at us, the weird thing was, I was feeling what it was feeling, I could see what it was seeing, like a seventh sense of some sorts. "Wait." Wren grew three stone golems, and in an instance my clone attacked them, conjuring an ice sword in its hand.

We watched as the clone destroyed the three golems with ease. "Is that all you got." The clone asked Wren, and he turned to me again.

"Don't look at me, I didn't mean for him to say that." I told Wren.

"Well, if you are doing it unconsciously, then you did mean it." Wren looked down at my core. "How's your mana? How much does it use to produce the clone?"

I focused on examining my core and realized that producing the one clone used a quarter of my mana, but it was already replenishing, for some reason, it using spells, didn't use my mana. How was that possible though? It didn't have a mana core, but the clone was using my magic spells, unless I made a core inside of it, no I didn't sense a core, I did sense mana.

"It took a decent amount of mana to create one, but..." I didn't know how to respond.

"But what?" Wren asked me, sensing my confusion.

"It used two spells, and yet, none of my mana is gone." Wren's eyes went wide. "That's what I am saying, how is that possible?"

"Hmm, I don't know." Wren was now just as confused as me, the clone just watched us. "Let me see." Wren turned to the clone and started to observe it. How was this possible?

"Why are you staring at me?" The clone asked Wren.

"You are a clone, shut up." Wren told it. "Wait, have it use another spell." The clone formed a fire ball in its palm. "I see." Did Wren figure it out already?

"What is it?" I asked him as the fire vanished.

"The purified mana!" Wren shouted like a child. "You formed not a core, but inside of its stomach I sense mana, I believe, instead of a core, you gave the clone a ball of purified mana." He paused and a smile crossed its face. "As the clone uses magic, the purified mana inside of it, diminishes, so when it uses all of its mana, it will cease to exist."

"That's ..." I stopped talking.

"Insane, yes, you are basically creating a life force." Wren was amazed by that. "Can you get rid of it?" I nodded my head, knowing that I could. "This is far beyond what I expected you to be able to do, this also means that if you pump more purified mana into it, the longer and more power the clone can use."

"What an amazing spell." The clone interrupted us. "Could I create a clone?"

Wren and I froze, could a clone create a clone? "I don't see why not, but it would take a lot of mana, which you don't have, clone."

"Nice." The clone and I said simultaneously.

"Creepy." Wren said. "Alright, I would suggest, just like the curse, keep this a secret for now." I tilted my head at him. "You are basically creating life, Virion, like I said before, this is something that would scare a lot of people."

"Oh, I understand." I looked at the clone and waved my hand. The clone then faded away, and I pulled the blood back to me. The mana I placed inside, dispersed, and was out of my control. "I'll hide it as much as I can."

"Brat, you keep on surprising me, I am sure you hear that a lot, but seriously." I heard that constantly. "So, in your time with me, we've made you into a better fighter, created two spells."

"Don't forget the stone you jabbed in me." I showed him my palm.

"I didn't, I just didn't get to it yet, brat, I have other ideas, but since you took so long to create a clone, we couldn't get to them." Wren put a hand on his chin and gave me a thoughtful look.

"What were the other ideas?" I was now even more curious, I knew he had ideas, the reading minds one for example.

"I honestly believe, that you can read people's mind, Virion." I knew that was where he was going. "You should be able to read minds by feeling for people's blood in their brains."

"And you know that I have tried that, and it didn't work. It's impossible, Wren, do you have any other ideas?" I couldn't read people's minds, I wish I could, but I couldn't.

"Give me some more time, let's have you create another clone. We want to make sure we know everything about the spell, before you use it freely."

I nodded; he had a point. "Okay, just another one of me?" I asked him.

"Yeah, but only give this one the power to control fire." I started manipulating the blood I had on the ground.

"On it." I pushed purified mana into the blood, then added water and the mana in the atmosphere to it. I pictured myself like I did before and started to shape it. I concentrated on it only having my ability to control fire and waited for it to form.

In about three minutes the clone formed, and again it was a perfect image of myself. "Nice." Wren said, and I had the clone use a fire spell.

Blue flames erupted all over its body, then quickly died down. "Have you seen enough." The clone spoke to us, and I gave it a thumbs up.

"Same amount of mana used?" Wren turned to me and asked.

I looked inside at my core. "Yep, I've got about sixty percent of my mana left." I was already replenishing it.

"Good, let's have your clone fight then, see how long it last." Wren conjured ten stone golems, and I had the clone attack them as soon as they started moving.

Fire surrounded the fist of the clone, and smashed right into a golem, smashing it to little pieces. It sidestepped a punch from a golem and sent a flame of blue fire at its chest.

The clone was fighting exactly like I did, probably because its thoughts are what mine would be in this moment.

"Let's make this more difficult." Wren gave each of the golems a stone sword, and they started swinging their new weapons at my clone. I watched as it dodged each time adding a few fire punches at them.

The clone destroyed another golem, then another, all without taking any damage. A fire fist  shot into the golem's head shattering it.

"That's enough." Wren waved his hand and the golems crumbled to pieces. "I think the clones know how to fight; I honestly don't think you are controlling them unconsciously."

I looked at the clone then at Wren. "What do you mean? How else would they be moving?"

"You still control what they do, but you wouldn't be able to tell them what to do while you are standing here next to me. I think the clone has its own consciousness that is just connected to yours." Then I am basically creating a partial life force. "That's enough, get rid of it."

I canceled out the clone spell, and the memories of it fighting against the golems played in my mind.

"The only issue with this is, let's say, you wanted to create a clone of me, you wouldn't be able to give the clone my power, because you don't possess earth magic." As Wren was walking, I pulled the blood back to me and had it swirl around my arm.

"I know, and that makes sense." I told him simply. "I'll figure something out." I already had a lot of ideas.

"If you say so." Wren smiled at me. "I'm just glad you figured the spell out after so long."

"Shut up." I sent him a smile as well; the god and I have grown decently close. I would say a lot closer than Arthur did, or does with him, then again, we are stuck in this cave together, in Dicathen.

"The mouth on you, Lesser." I could tell he was joking, but I didn't realize until now, how annoying it was being called a Lesser. "We got a week before Windsom shows up, maybe less, let's dig even deeper into what your clones can do."

"Do you have any more blood magic ideas?" I asked, knowing I could figure out the clone stuff myself.

"Maybe." Wren turned away from me and started to pace, that meant he had another idea. "Have you ever tried pumping blood into your eyes?"

"Huh?" I took a step backwards.
