"I will not, and never will, give up my bond." Arthur spoke in a cold tone that sent shivers down everyone's back.
Here it comes.
"How dare you speak to the King that way." Sebastian turned to a soldier. "Get the brat!"
A guard launched himself at Arthur bringing up his sword, and in instance ended up on his back. Arthur was going to activate static void, so I needed to be fast.
I felt the mana coursing through the veins of Sebastian and as he lifted his staff, that was in his left hand. I moved the mana in him, to his arm. I then proceeded to hold his arm still, in a locked position, when it was halfway up.
Sebastian made noise. "Uhh!" I think he was in shock, or he didn't know what was going on. Why he couldn't move his arm. "My arm! It's stuck."
Arthur who was getting ready to defend himself against Sebastian, now stood confused as well.
"What do you mean your arm is stuck, Sebastian?" The King grew angry. "You were going to attack a kid, that is unacceptable." I kept on holding Sebastian's arm still. "Even if he declines an offer from a King, it's doesn't mean to respond with killing him."
"Art, are you okay?" My father asked as he placed a hand on his back.
"Yeah, I think this guy fell." He pointed at the guard on the ground.
"Please accept my apology for my guards' actions, they will be reprimanded." The King looked at the bewildered Sebastian with anger. His arm was still locked in place. "Sebastian, why are you holding your arm like that still?"
"I can't." He tried pushing down on it. "I can't move it. It's stuck!"
"Take this man away." The King ordered, and two other guards walked up to him. "It's a childish excuse to say your arm can't move, Sebastian."
The one guard went to grab his arm, and as he did, I tried to release the spell; when I did, I started to feel light head, and I leaned more on my mother's leg. The mana started to move rapidly in his arm, I didn't have control over it anymore. Then, suddenly, his arm blew up, like literally blew up. Blood started to rush out of his shoulder, his arm was completely gone.
"Ahhh!" Sebastian screamed in agony.
"Oh my god!" Countless people shouted. My mother grabbed Ellie and I with each hand. I started to breathe heavily, from using blood magic. I didn't mean to hurt him that badly. My eyes started to drift shut, but as I was pulled away from the scene, I quickly composed myself, still breathing heavily using the sight of the incident as an excuse if needed.
"Ahhh!" He continued screaming.
"What in the world?!" King Blaine was covered in blood. "Get healers up here immediately, Vincent." I looked at my mother who was a healer, but she didn't move. "Figure out what the hell happened."
"I'm on it!" Uncle Vincent said, as his eyes were wide. "Tabitha, Alice, get the kids out of here."
"Okay." My mom escorted Ellie and I out of the scene. Aunty Tabitha covered Lilia's eyes as she walked out, and my dad took Arthur out of the room. "Are you two okay?" My mother leaned down and hugged us as we entered another room with nobody in it. Ellie was now crying, I was in shock from what I did, there was no reply to her question.
"Lilia come here." Aunty Tabitha called out.
"Arthur was that you?" My father asked, but it was getting difficult to hear over Ellie's crying. I was breathing extremely heavily, as my head was on my mother's shoulder.
"No." Arthur said plainly. "I didn't even feel mana, did you?"
"I was thinking the same thing, I didn't even see anything going. I thought he was lying." That's good, they didn't know it was me. They also couldn't sense it, which is a positive, but I don't know if I could do that again.
I never hurt someone like that before, and right now I can understand why. I couldn't handle it, I was shaking, breathing heavily, and in shock from what I did. I could have killed him, if I lost control of the mana while it was in his chest. I was lucky it was in his arm, where I wanted it to be.
How was I going to survive during the war? I couldn't change anything if I was in the castle. Eventually, I will be forced to kill someone, this magic will make it easy for me.
Veer, you are in a new world, a new culture, killing with magic is normal, as long as it's for good reasons. That didn't matter it was still taking a life, which made me feel awful. I was panicking over taking a man's arm. Sooner or later, I was going to have to get over it.
"Veer, are you okay?" My mother lifted my head as I was breathing heavily and looked into my eyes with a worried expression. I didn't respond, still shaking in shock. "Veer!"
I slowly placed my head back onto my mother's shoulder. "Yeah." I lied; I didn't want to worry her about something I couldn't talk about. She placed a hand on my head, and I tried to think about something else.
"I think we should take the children home, Rey." My mother said to my father as she continued to hug Ellie and me.
"I have to stay here, Alice, but that's a good idea. Arthur, can you help your mother with Ellie and Veer?"
"Yeah." I backed away from my mom, trying to act like nothing was wrong. Deep down though, I still couldn't believe what I did. "Come on Veer, let mom carry Ellie."
I walked up beside Arthur, and my mom picked up the crying Ellie. Arthur placed a hand on my back as we made our way out of the Auction House. Everyone was still in complete and utter shock, but no one wanted to talk about it. They were probably waiting until Ellie and I weren't in the room since we were young.
"You good?" Arthur asked me with a smile on his face.
I nodded my head, and Sylvie jumped on to my head. I started to pet her as we walked. I had no words for what just happened, I just felt off.
I was the first ever Blood Deviant user, I should have been extremely happy, but I realized just how powerful this was going to be.
Did I lose control because I still didn't have complete control over water attributed mana? It would make sense why I couldn't keep it intact. Okay, I'm not doing that ever again, until I know I have affinity for water magic. I want to stay in control if I try to bend someone's blood. Even if the guy was a dick, he didn't deserve to lose an arm.
When he arrived back at the Helstea Mansion, Arthur and my mom made Ellie and I go to our rooms. It was pretty late out, and I was tired.
"Good night, Ellie, good night, Veer." My mom smiled as she had a hand on Arthur's back.
"Get some rest, little siblings."
Ellie was still crying a little, sniffling more like. "Big brother, can you stay in here tonight? I'm scared."
Arthur looked at her and smiled. "Sure, Ellie." He then turned to me. "Are you okay Veer?"
"Yeah."
"Do you want me to stay with you Veer?" My mother asked with a gentle tone that made me feel safe. "I know what you guys saw tonight was awful." I was still shaken up, the image of his arm exploding replayed in my mind over and over. "How about we have a sleepover in my room? I'll make your father sleep in here if there isn't room."
"Yeah!" Ellie exclaimed. "Big brother? Little brother?"
"Sure." I got up out of bed.
"That sounds nice." Arthur picked Ellie up and we all made our way to our parents' room.
---
When I woke up the next morning, mom and dad were gone. It was only Ellie, Arthur, and I on the bed, they were both still out cold, so I got off the bed slowly.
I walked to my room and sat on my bed; the image of Sebastian's arm still played in my mind. I wanted to try something last night, but I couldn't because it was late and time for bed.
I held out my hand and brought all the water mana in the air to it. I attempted to conjure water and how it would flow around in my hand.
Then the unimaginable happened, I felt it. Water came to life as it moved around my hand.
Holy shit!
It made me forget about what I did last night for a mere second.
I was a water elemental, but since I was using mana rotation shouldn't I be able to use all the elements now. I mean I was absorbing the same amount of fire, earth, and wind mana. I purified all four elements in my core.
Unless, since I activated my Blood Deviant magic last night, my water mana also activated. That would make a little more sense.
I pulled the fire mana to my palm, and pictured a flam forming, but nothing happened. I can manipulate the mana; I just can form anything with it yet. That has to mean I'll have affinity for all the elements, which will be useless in a fight if I can't kill.
"Veer are you in here?" My mother's voice called out, and I got rid of the water spell.
"Yeah."
"I went to check on the three of you, and you weren't there."
"I actually just woke up."
"Why are you in your room? Are you hungry? Breakfast is ready." She stood in front of me, and I just looked down at the ground. "What's wrong?"
"I'm still a little shaken up from last night."
She bent down and picked me up. "We all are, let's go get you something to eat, dear."
She carried me to the dining hall, where Lilia and Aunty Tabitha were sitting. "I see Veer is up." Aunty Tabitha smiled at me.
"Both of his siblings are sprawled out on the bed." They chuckled. "Here, Veer." My mom sat down, with me on her lap. In front of me was a plate with french toast on it, half eaten. "You can finish your mom's meal."
"Thanks, mom." I picked up the fork and started to eat as they talked.
"What do you have planned for today?" My mom asked Aunty Tabitha.
"Nothing, I'll probably go down to the Auction House, and see if I can help figure out what happened. That's where Vincent is now, they still have no clue how that man's arm just popped like a balloon." I didn't want to picture that while I was eating.
"I'll probably run into Xyrus and shop. Do you wanna come with me Veer?"
Maybe leaving the house would be good. "Sure, mom."
After breakfast and checking to see that Ellie and Arthur were still somehow sleeping. Mom and I went into Xyrus city. It still amazed me every time I came here, the busy crowds of people, the beautiful scenery, all the different stores.
My mom was carrying me through the streets. "Let's go look at some clothing for you."
"Wait, you didn't say we were shopping for me. I don't like clothing shopping."
"That's why I didn't tell you, Veer. You're growing out of your clothing and need new stuff."
Dammit.
We walked into a store and my mother had me try on countless different shirts, shorts, and pants. After I picked out several different sets, we paid and left. I was wearing one of my new outfits.
I had on a navy blue button down t-shirt, with plain black shorts.
I was walking alongside her now. "You look very handsome."
"Mom." I said embarrassedly.
"What, you do? Am I not allowed to compliment my son?" She pulled me closer to her as we walked.
"I guess you are." We walked for a little longer in silence then I said. "Thanks, mom, for always taking care of me, last night was scary."
"I'm your mother Veer, I'll always be there for you. Last night won't ever happen again, so you don't need to worry about it. Just remember that your mom and dad love you and we will protect you with our lives." That night was just the beginning though.
"I love you too." I rested my head on her side as we walked.
I wish I could tell her about my Blood Deviant magic, but that needs to stay a secret. The only person I'll tell or ask for help is my big brother. He has secrets that he keeps, so he'll probably help with mine. His secrets weren't secrets to me since I knew mostly everything.
