Chapter 72: Orcs

My Beginning After the EndWords: 11041

(One Month Later)

I've been in the Orc Crypt for a month now, I've been fighting alongside Tess's team. I've gotten to know them pretty well, I already did to a degree, but it was nice. Darvus still is a dick to me, it didn't matter though, I didn't really care.

I was happy to be back in a dungeon, free to kill and let loose. Arthur was going to be back in seven months, I needed to be ready. I wanted to fight alongside my brother in battle, eventually I was going to have to leave my team here, or they were going to come with me, I don't know how that works.

At the moment, we were getting ready to enter a new cavern we haven't been in yet. I sensed two hundred orcs, and we were assuming they had weapons. The front line was Tess, Darvus, Caria, Callias, and me. That left Stannard, Victoria, and Samantha behind us, to lay down support. I fought in the middle so I was able to help anyone that might be in danger.

"You ready?!" Callias started to jump up and down, getting ready to fight.

"Yep." I told him, I only had "Blood Oath" activated, I didn't want to use up all my mana in here with my "Scarlet Eyes."

"Let's do this." Victoria said and we all ran into the cavern. I could see the horde of Orcs now, and they did have weapons, which meant Alacryans could be somewhere in the dungeon.

When the Orcs spotted us, they all started to sprint, these things were like humans, their skin was brown, they all had on armor, each one carrier a weapon, but each one was different from the other in some ways.

"Veer." Victoria called out, and I stepped up. I stepped onto the ground with force, causing ice to spread in front of us, making it difficult for the Orcs to sprint at us all at once. I had three tubes of blood on my waist, so I opened one up, and formed a sword made out of blood.

"Stay in formation, everyone knows what to do." Tess called out from beside me.

I could probably kill this horde with one spell, but they don't want me to for some reason. The Orcs got onto the ice, and some of them slipped and fell, some made their way to us.

An Orc with an ax was the first to meet its end as I drove my blood sword into its chest, not even giving it a chance to attack me. Three more arrived, and I ducked and dodged all their attacks, then simply ripped their blood out of their bodies with ease.

I wasn't wearing my mask, but I didn't care, I was still smiling from the sight of blood. I extended my sword like a snake, and it went through multiple Orcs's throats, then came back to be as the bodies fell to the ground.

I held back laughter, not that I cared or anything, I just didn't think it was appropriate this early. I also didn't want Tess going to Elder Virion and telling him I'm losing my mind, which I totally was, but I already accepted that.

I conjured multiple ice swords that danced around my body, and as Orcs got close to me, I shot a sword through their body. After I ran out of swords, I let the Orcs in front of me approach me. I dodged a sword, then dodged an ax, felt for the blood in their bodies, and made them drop to their knees.

An Orc swung a hammer down at my head, and I stepped back and watched as the hammer hit the ground. The Orc turned its head toward me, and I smiled at it as I sent my blood sword through its skull, then I ripped the blood out of the Orcs on their knees, killing them.

"Ahh." I turned to Caria who was on the ground with two Orcs coming at her. Darvus tried to run over to her, but couldn't, he had Orcs to deal with as well. I felt for the blood in their bodies, as the one lifted its sword and began to swing down on her.

I froze him in place, then ripped his blood out, giving Caria time to get up and deal with the other one. She nodded her head at me, and I turned back to the Orcs running at me. I waved my left hand at the five in front of me, and the blood left their body.

I could see ten more behind the ones I just killed, so I held out my left hand, and grew an ice sword in it. I then used wind magic to bring the one in the front to me, and as I did, I brought my sword up to its throat, and beheaded it.

I dodged a sword, then another, and stuck my ice sword into an Orc's stomach, then dodged an ax. There were eight, but I could sense and see more of them coming, ah, what the hell. I pushed my hands out, and the Orcs around me exploded into chucks, then I released my aura. The Orcs coming at me slowed down as they stared at me.

I shot my sword at them, and the blood sword slithered through each one, piercing them somewhere, knocking them to the ground to bleed out.

"Hey, Veer, could use your help here." Callias said, and I turned to him. He had four Orcs on him, and he was dodging their attacks, but was having trouble landing an attack.

"On it." I made each one explode, and the blood covered Callias from head to toe. "There." I sent him a smile and turned back to the ones coming for me.

It looked like Tess was handling everything okay, she was probably the strongest, not counting me. She grew vines out of the ground, and into the bodies of the Orcs, it was deadly.

An Orc brought a sword down on me, and I brought my sword up and deflected the attack, then spun and swung my blade at its head, cutting it in half.

There was enough blood on the ground now, to make this fight a little quicker. I raised my hand, and all the blood covering the floor of the cavern, started to float up. I made a pool above all our heads, no one questioned it, because I've done it before.

"It's over." Callias nodded his head, knowing exactly what I was going to do.

I shaped the blood into small needles, and aimed them at the horde, I loved using "Blood Rain." It was exciting watching the blood under my control rip through my enemies. I sent the little needles of blood at the horde and watched as Orcs fell one after another.

There were only a couple left, maybe seventy after the spell was complete, I wanted to run out there and kill them myself, but I knew that would be selfish. They kept on running towards us, even after what we did, so I swung my blood sword at them, and ripples of blood came off of it, that blood ripped through them, killing them instantly.

I could feel the Serpent in me, dancing in joy, from all the chaos and blood, I was too.

It only took us five more minutes to deal with the rest, we just cleared another floor easily, without anyone getting hurt. It was time to collect the spoils of the battle, something I never did, there wasn't anything useful.

"Good job, Veer." Samantha walked up from behind me as everyone gathered themselves. "You were amazing as usual."

"Thanks, Samantha, you did good too." I was too focused on killing, I had no clue what she was doing behind me.

"Well, it's all thanks to you since you don't let anything get past you." That might be true, Samantha gave me a concerned look. "You defiantly need to wash up, you are covered in guts and blood."

I couldn't tell her that I liked that, so I just said. "Yeah, I know, the downside of being able to control blood."

"Why don't you push the blood out from behind, instead of pulling it toward you?" She asked me, as I conjured a seat of ice to sit in.

"That's a good question." I smiled at her. "I guess the rush of the battle makes me do whatever feels easier."

"Oh, I understand." Samantha sent a smile back at me.

"Typical." Tess said as she approached us. "You killed the majority of them." She conjured a vine to sit on, and I looked over at Callias, he was laying down on the floor of the cavern, drenched in blood like me, because of me.

"You okay, Callias?" I called out jokingly, knowing he was fine, just mad at me for making the blood explode on him.

"Shut up." He responded without moving.

"Haha." We all laughed.

"Veer, I've been dying to ask you." I turned back to Tess. "Where did you get that ring on your finger from?"

I looked down at my hand, at the red and black ring. "It was a gift."

"From whom?" Samantha asked.

"A friend." I couldn't tell them an Asura.

"Does Veer have a girlfriend already, at his age?" Tess said jokingly.

"Tess, you know better than anyone else that I don't know any girls my age." I went to school with people older than me. "And Tess, I wouldn't be joking about stuff like that, especially because you and my brother..." I was cut off as a vine reached out for me.

I managed to cut it in half before anything happened, I looked at Tess, and she was blushing for some reason, all I did was bring up my brother. "I'm going to stop you there."

"That's what I thought." I sent her a smile and unformed my sword, letting the blood flow around both my arms like water. I would try to push their relationship forward, but I had zero clue how.

"Wait, Tessia, you have a thing for Arthur, Veer's brother." Samantha asked, I guess he wouldn't know that.

"Haha." I laughed as Tess's face got even more red. This drew some attention from the others, and Stannard and Caria came over to us, the rest just listened from afar.

"Veer, I'm going to kill you." I could see, at that moment, that I had done something wrong. "I don't want to talk about it, we are in a dungeon, we should focus on that." Tess managed to silence everyone, I wanted to say something, but I knew better.

"Yeah, Veer." Caria shot me a smile, playing along.

"Veer, it's too bad you never got to experience school or anything, meet girls an all that." Samantha told me. "I know you told us about your time at the Academy, but like you said, you were younger than everyone."

"Yeah, it's a real shame." I said sarcastically, not really caring, I knew once I got into this world, that I was never going to have a normal life.

"What? You don't want to meet a girl; you are around the age where kids start dating." Samantha kept on bugging me, everyone else was just watching.

"I'll have time after the war, if I survive." I said, and the tone around us darkened. I realized what I said, and how I said it, I chose the wrong wording. "You know what I mean, it isn't like there are any girls my age fighting in the war."

I guess there was one.

"Oh, poor Veer." Callias mumbled from the ground.

"One day." Samantha smiled at me.

"Come on, let's not speak about this stuff." I stood up. "I forgot I needed something."

"What?" Samantha asked me.

"Blood." I answered, and then started to move Orc blood to me. When it reached me, I slid some into a small tube, then brought out a couple more tubes and did the same thing. I stored them all in my mana ring.

"So weird." Tess said.

"Yeah." Samantha agreed with her.

"What? Is the blood on me too good for you?" Callias sat up and turned to me, his face was covered in blood, it made me giggle slightly. "You think this is funny, don't you?"

"I do." Samantha answered for me.

"Damn you all." Callias got to his feet. "Let's decide what we are doing."

"I say we move on." Tess stood up as well.

"I agree." Darvus chimed in.

If they wanted to keep going, I was perfectly fine with that, bathing in the blood of my enemies was always a good choice.

"Then let's go." Victoria shouted, and everyone stood up.
