Chapter 77: Retainer Uto

My Beginning After the EndWords: 11575

"Get out of here Darvus!" I ordered, not wanting someone else to die. He started to limp into the tunnel, they were so close. I stared at Samantha's lifeless corpse, and as I did, I saw another black rode growing out of the ground, right at Darvus from behind. "No!" I shouted, trying to push wind mana to Darvus before it hit him, but I watched as the black spike knocked him to the ground, and he entered the tunnel, out of view.

"The so called Blood Deviant." I turned to the scratchy voice coming from the darkness in the other tunnel. "All I see is another Lesser, what a waste of time."

A simple "Fuck" slipped out of my mouth, as I watched as a man in black armor and robes, stepped out into the cavern. He had a hood on his head, but I could see two horns growing out of his forehead. The Retainer towered over me, he was at least six foot four, his red eyes stared into my soul with ease, and his arms were weirdly lengthy.

Darvus was still breathing, I sensed it, but he was unconscious and bleeding out. The pressure emitting off of Uto was frightening, his aura was this dark fog that sent shivers down my spine.

I was scared.

"Haha." I laughed out loud, thinking about my current situation. I could feel the blood inside of Uto, but he was too powerful, I wasn't able to rip it out. I knew that would be the case though, he's stronger than me.

Rage started to boil up in me, Samantha was dead, Darvus would be soon, I couldn't die here too. Samantha, over the past year, has been like an older sister to me. My fingers started to twitch, wanting to start the battle already. The blood around me was eager to be let free, I could feel it, but could I even take Uto.

"I love killing children, seeing the light in their eyes fade away, in the palms of my hands." Uto was now standing twenty yards away from me. "To bad I'm not supposed to kill you, or I would stick little spikes into your eyes and watch you bleed to death."

"Shut up, Uto." I told him and started to scratch my head. How was I going to do this?

"What did you say to me Lesser?" He snarled, his voice continuing to make me shiver, but I didn't care. "How do you know who I am?"

"Bro, I'm thinking, give me a second." More of Uto's aura exploded out toward me, I used my blood magic to cancel out the effects, cooling myself off. "You are Retainer Uto of Vechor, and you serve under Scythe Dragoth, I believe." I spoke with a calm voice, trying to breathe steadily as I planned this shit out.

A spike aimed at my core was launched at me, and as it entered my vicinity, it froze in place and fell to the ground. "Interesting, for a boy, you seem to know a decent amount about Alacrya, whose feeding you the information, the filthy Asuras?"

I shook my head no. "They won't tell us shit." I let the blood surrounding my arms flow around my body. I started to shake and twitch in excitement and rage, I pushed the part of me scared to the side, knowing that I didn't have a choice, and that this was inevitable. I will avenge Samantha, right here, right now. "The fact you planned this, just to see me, it's pretty funny, isn't it?" I squatted down on the ground. "Hahaha, you, of all people, are here to what, capture me?"

Uto glared down at me. "I can see you have a couple screws loose; I like that."

"I bet you do." I pulled my hood down, knowing it was going to fall off at some point. "The strongest Retainer, coming for me, honestly, I feel like I should be honored."

"I wouldn't say that, this isn't going to end well for you." Uto spat at me. "Haha, the way you look at me kid, you better stop that."

I stood back up. "It's a shame, Arthur won't ever be able to meet you, I know he would have adored your personality."

I turned sideways as I felt Lance Olfred enter the cavern. "Virion." He said, and then turned to Uto. "Oh, Retainer Uto." He bowed to Uto. I gave him a shocked expression, trying to mess with him.

"You know him." I asked, and Uto stood there in silence. "Help me, please!" I felt a smile forming on my face. "Lance Olfred, come on."

"I'm sorry about this, Virion, I owe my loyalty to my people, and this is what they desire." Wasn't his loyalty toward his adoptive father or someone? I forget. "I won't ask for your forgiveness." My jaw dropped, why would I forgive him? "Retainer Uto, everything has gone according to plan."

"Lessers betraying Lessers, isn't that a shame." Uto said sarcastically to me. "You can go, I'll bring the kid with me, tell them he's dead, and you did your best to save him."

"As you wish, R-----" Lance Olfred stopped as I interrupted him.

"Na, you are going to want to stay." I sent him a smile. "Because once I kill this dickhead over here, I'm coming for you, and I don't want to kill you in the castle in front of everyone." My aura exploded out of me, pushing against Uto's, the blood surrounding me started to move faster.

"I like confidents, it makes destroying you more enjoyable, I killed a confident Lance in a dungeon before." He was referring to Alea, and I let that happen, I could have saved her. My rage was making the Serpent inside of me happy, it wanted this. "She was very weak, even with the help of her soldiers, she couldn't take me down, and died painfully."

I pointed to the chip in one of his horns. "Looks like she got you pretty good right there."

Uto tilted his head at me. "Leave!" He snarled at Olfred. "I swear by all the Vritra, kid, you are going to wish to be dead." Lance Olfred bowed to him, and then gave me a sorry gaze. "I can't wait to see the boy wonder, Arthur Leywin, after I deal with you, the look on his face when I tell him how you pleaded for your life, and died slowly in my grip will be priceless."

Lance Olfred turned to leave. "You better hope he does take me with him." I spoke coldly, all the hairs on my body were standing up in fear, but I kept my composure as I faced Uto. "Shall we?"

The Retainer smiled at me. "Make this fun for me, brat." Black spikes started to grow out of the ground, directed toward me, I quickly moved to the side, getting out of the way. Another spike was shot at me, and I used the blood floating around me to deflect it.

The battle has started.

I started to surround my body with ice mana, so that I could freeze the spikes if they got too close to me, giving me time to evade them. A cold mist came out of my body, as I felt Olfred leave. I could also sense the other adventurers, they were so far away, it was useless to wish for their help, they wouldn't be able to anyways.

I conjured two blood swords in both hands and shot myself toward Uto. I could see his surprise as his eyes widened as I appeared in front of him, swinging my sword at his ribcage, a black spike appeared, protecting him.

It wouldn't though, I liquified the blade, and it passed right through the spike, colliding with Uto's ribcage as I reformed it, sending him flying to the side. "Haha." I laughed in excitement as he turned to me in shock, he didn't know everything I could do, before he could even get a word out or compose himself, I appeared in front of him again.

Spikes grew rapidly around him, and I jumped and dodged each one, swing my blade at him again, but quickly used wind magic to shoot myself backwards, because instead of blocking my sword, Uto attempted to send a black spike into my core.

I landed on my feet, and Uto walked out from behind the spikes he just conjured. He was not bleeding at all, and it actually looked like he never got hit. "That trick won't work twice, brat." He stopped his approach, standing ten yards from me. "To think I let a Lesser like you touch me, but I guess you are the boy wonder's brother."

I went to speak but was cut off as spikes grew from the ground everywhere, making it hard to dodge each one. I pushed wind mana out from under my feet and shot myself at Uto again, he stood there, not fazed, as he sent spikes at me from all directions.

I was right in front of him as a spike entered my left calf, knocking me over slightly as I swung my sword at him. I froze the other spikes heading my way, and did the same trick with my sword, this time however, Uto knew what to expect, so he stepped backwards, and watched as my blade went passed him.

The spike was still in my calf, I pulled it out, and Uto sent me a smile as he saw my face wreak in pain. I healed the wound using my blood magic and launched myself at him. I swung both of my swords at him from the right, and Uto dodged my attack, he was fast, then aimed a spike for my chest again.

As my momentum took me into the spike, I pushed wind mana under me and flipped over the spike, landing on my feet, then built up ice, wind, and fire mana in the air, and shot it at Uto. This caused a beam of pure light blue mana to appear, and I could feel the ice and fire emitting off of it.

Uto vanished and appeared next to me as my spell hit the cavern wall, causing a loud explosion, but I didn't have time to examine it as Uto brought a knee to my chest, I felt for the blood in his leg and held it still, giving me time to dodge.

I swung my swords at him again, bringing them up to his head, Uto smiled as he moved at a speed I could barely keep up with, and sent a kick right into my gut, sending me flying across the cavern floor.

I hit the ground hard and rolled a couple feet. "Shit..." I said softly as I got back up to my feet, using my two blood swords to help. "I don't know why I was holding back against you."

Uto appeared in front of me with a glare. "Is this really all you got, Devil of Dicathen?" I deformed the blood sword in my left hand and had the blood float around me instead. "You are just a Lesser through and through."

"Haha." I laughed as I smirked at him. "Lesser, Lesser, Lesser, you overestimate your strength, not knowing just how strong I am!" I spoke loudly and pointed my sword at him. "You bleed, you are no different than me, I'll show you a real Devil!"

I felt for the Serpent's Will and activated "Blood Monarch."

My hair turned red, scales grew on me, runes glowed beneath my eyes, my power grew, this wasn't enough. I closed my eyes and pushed blood into them, also activating my "Scarlett Eyes."

"There it is!" Uto exclaimed in excitement, my connection with blood growing rapidly, it's been quite some time since I activated phase two. "It doesn't matter what tricks you have; you are weak." He snarled and threw his hand at me, trying to conjure a black spike, but I disrupted the flow of mana in his core, not letting the spell form.

"Imagine that, haha." I was able to disrupt his mana flow, just for a little, but I could.

"How'd you do that?" He asked, confused now. "Ehh, I don't care actually!" Like he did it subconsciously, spikes appeared, I raised my hand and shot water at them, and as the two collided, I froze the water instantly, knocking the spikes to the ground.

I shot myself at him, ignoring any spike he might throw at me, letting the blood floating around me deal with them. I brought my sword down on him, and he attempted to block it. A spike aimed at my core was deflected by the blood under my control, and my blade almost collided with him, but Uto stepped back, then threw a fist at me.

I froze his hand in midair, and swung my sword at him again, his eyes widened as he tried to dodge, but I extended my sword like a snake, and watched as the blade pierced his armor, right below his shoulder.

I spun around, reformed my sword, and watched as a tiny amount of blood dripped down his chest plate. "See that, you bleed, just like me."

He glared at me with his scary ass red eyes. "Oh, I'm going to enjoy this!"
