Chapter 79: Lance vs Lance

My Beginning After the EndWords: 11128

I didn't feel any mana coming off of the soldier, he must be stronger than me. "Remember the dick, that thought his plan was perfect, and then suddenly found out, it wasn't?" The soldier pointed at Lance Olfred. "That's you."

"What?" The Lance asked.

Lance Bairon answered for the soldier, and it left me speechless. "That right there, is Virion Leywin." The soldier bowed to the Lance sarcastically, with a huge smile on his face.

"I told you what would happen, didn't I." The soldier swung out his arms. "Hahaa."

That's Virion? It didn't look anything like him though.

"What are you talking about?" Lance Olfred snarled at him. "Lance Bairon, have you lost your mind, Virion is a boy, that's a man, and why trust him."

"Because I am a clone, not the real thing, Lance." This was a clone Virion made? My head is spinning, this is too hard to comprehend. "The real me is currently fighting Retainer Uto."

I could see Lance Bairon look up in surprise. "What? You said you were fighting soldiers, not a Retainer."

"Well, Bairon, I knew if I did, you would come and help me, instead of dealing with Olfred here." The clone squatted down. "I'll admit, the real me is struggling, but he'll pull through." He shrugged toward Lance Olfred. "So, it's time to dispose of waste."

"Damn you, Virion." Lance Bairon spoke harshly. "You better be okay, or I'll be in a shit ton of trouble."

I watched as a rod of lava shot itself at Lance Bairon, and an armor forged from magma formed around Olfred. This was the power of a Lance, I guess. The rod was dodged as I was pushed out of the way by Lance Bairon.

I quickly turned toward Lance Olfred, staring at his fellow Lance. "It's a shame, my only real option now is to kill you all, because you haven't told anyone else, isn't that, right?"

I pulled my sword out, knowing it was pointless, I was not even close to his strength. "This is my fight." Lance Bairon drew a spear, and it buzzed with electricity. "Stay out of this, Virion, make sure the real you gets back alive as well." He shook his head. "Fighting a Retainer by himself, what was he thinking, and how could you just hand him over."

"Bairon, my loyalty is to my people, no hard feelings." The tunnels floor started quake, he was an earth mage, this could be a good fight.

"Letting a kid get taken prisoner, I would revise where you place your loyalty at." The Lance shot himself at Lance Olfred, a traitor. I knew where Virion and Samantha were heading, but I couldn't leave Tessia.

The two's weapons collided, and it shook the tunnel. "Callias, go." The clone of Virion shouted. "Everything will be fine."

As I went to respond, an earthen spear shot out of the ground at my chest too fast for me to dodge, but before it hit me, I was hit with a gust of wind, pushing me toward the teleportation gate. It was the clone; could he use magic?

I stepped into the portal and watched as the clone vanished, and blood fell to the floor.

Lance Bairon

I brought my spear down on Olfred, a golem of lava grabbed it, and I sent electricity out of my spear. The golem shattered, I spun my spear to meet Olfred's magma sword, and the electricity and magma clashed with each other.

"You traitor!" I spit in his face, sending electric into his armor, destroying it. "You'll pay for this!"

His armor built back up, and he glared at me. "I never liked you." The floor beneath me started to crack, and chasms started to form all around us. "At least I'll be able to take a Lance down with me, to make up for everything."

"You're that confident in your magic?" I said as I was forced away from my fellow Lance as the tunnel and floor began to heat up. Magma lit the tunnel, and I floated in the air, shooting bolts of electricity at him.

Olfred brought up a lava wall, causing the tunnel to shake and crumble slightly. I shot myself at the Lance, reinforcing my body with mana, pointing my spear at his head.

The tunnel started to cave in on me, stopping my approach, lava started to reach out at me, so I shot energy out of my body, destroying the stones. The tunnel was going to collapse if we fought in here, and he had too much of an advantage.

I pushed past the debris I caused and brought my spear to Olfred's core. The Lance moved away from me as multiple magma golems formed, and I was forced into destroying them before I could reach him.

I swung my spear, right in the face of a one of the golems. I dodged an arm coming at my head, then spun and drove my spear into its chest. I dashed, dodging the golems that remained, pulled my arm back, and threw my spear with as much power as I could.

The spear zoomed through the air, infused with electricity, breaking any boulder in its way, heading straight for the Lance. My spear managed to get to him, and it hit Olfred directly in the shoulder, sending him flying further down the cave.

"Damn you!" I heard him say as he shot himself at me. I pulled back my fist and swung my arm at his face as he got closer to me. "I'll take us both down if I have too!" I could see where the spear hit him, blood ran down his arm and chest.

"Tch." I made a noise as my fist went by his head, and his magma sword came down on my armor. Using my enhanced senses, I back stepped, threw another punch filled with my mana. "You'll have to if you want to win!" My fist collided with his magma armor helmet, leaving a giant dent, but it didn't completely destroy it.

I brought an elbow down on him, and his sword raced up at me. I forced energy out of my body, enhancing my speed, and giving me a slight second to dodge the blade. My elbow got knocked off course because of it, landing on his shoulder instead. The magma on him tried to breach through my mana barrier, but I moved my elbow before it could, backing up away from him, noticing my spear on the ground, where it fell out of him, I picked it up.

I pointed my spear at the bleeding Lance, and he turned to me. If Olfred wanted, he could kill us both in here, collapsing the tunnel. "How could you betray Dicathen?"

"I'm not." Spikes of magma came at me from all directions in the tunnel. "I do this for my people, Bairon." I heard him say as I smashed and dodged through his attack, spinning and sending my spear through the spikes. "You should understand!"

A spike managed to get through my defenses and punctured my leg. I shattered the spike as I fell to one knee, then stood back up, and ignored the pain. We were already both injured, and the fight has only just begun.

I sent a current all over my body, and then pushed it outward, destroying everything it touched. I cracked my neck and stared at Olfred. My spear was radiating heat from how much energy I was putting into it.

Olfred waved his hand, and lava began to rise at me, I flew to him at my highest speed, shattering through his defenses, and driving my spear into his chest as I appeared before him. I was faster than Olfred, he couldn't do anything about that.

Olfred swatted it away, swung his sword at my face, if I was a split second slower, it would have killed me. His magma sword slit my cheek, only barely, but it caused blood to run down my face.

Being injured angered me, causing the energy sparking off of me to grow in power. My spear shined with this bright light, showing just how dangerous it was. Olfred and I stood ten yards apart now, eyeing each other up.

There was no need to talk, he was a traitor, I needed him dead or alive, preferably alive so we can question him. I still don't understand how Virion knew about all of this, and how he was able to predict everything so far.

Olfred plunged his sword into the ground, and more lava golems started to appear in front of me. I swung my spear. destroying the first golem, but another one grew and took its place. I raised my spear and brought down bolts of electricity on them all, shattering each one to pieces.

However, Olfred raised another batch of golems out of the ground, and these had swords of their own. "This trick doesn't work, Olfred." I dodged a blade, sent my own through it, then dodged another, and another, and released an energy blast out of my spear, destroying the three golems around me.

A ball of lava shot through the golems toward me, which was sent by Olfred in the back. I swung my spear at the ball, and it knocked me backwards as my spear collided with each it. I held my spear up, making sure the lava didn't get to me.

I swatted the ball down to the ground, creating a crater. I flew over it, and swung my blade through another golem, breaking it to pieces. This was getting old, I shot myself through all of the golems, and swung my spear at Olfred.

He parried my attack and sent a fist full of magma into my gut, knocking the wind out of me. I was about to fall, but I held myself up with my spear, and went to sweep his legs out. Olfred jumped, and I got back to my feet, trying to drive my spear into him.

His armor built extra layers, and I wasn't able to reach his actual body, but I shattered the stones that built up around him. I pulled my spear back and attempted to do it again. Olfred flew backward, raising lava out of the ground, blocking me from following.

The lava started to chase me as I started to retreat from it, there was nothing I could do to stop lava. Retreating was the only reasonable option, the electricity around my body stopped any stone spear Olfred tried to injure me with.

The lava stopped, and fell back to the ground, covering the floor, and then turning back to stone, possibly due to Olfred's control over it.

I could see Olfred in the distance from the light coming off of the magma on the walls, he still had his sword in his hand, and he looked ready to continue. Our injuries meant nothing in this moment, the only thing that mattered was taking down the other guy.

Olfred threw his sword at me, I dodged it with ease, and as the sword hit the ground, it got absorbed into the tunnel, and it reappeared in Olfred's hand. He threw it again, and just like the first time, I dodged it, but a spike came at me from behind.

shattered it to pieces as it tried to break through my mana barrier, and then I dodged a hand from a burning hot golem, brought my spear to its skull, killed it, then spun back to Olfred who was getting ready to throw his sword again.

"That's meaningless." I told him, knowing that I could dodge it with ease.

The Lance didn't care, he pulled his arm back, and threw it again, this time, lava dripped from the ceiling, and started to burn through my barrier and armor. I dodged the sword, dodged the spikes that grew at me, and brushed the lava off of me. It hurt a little, and I could see I had a burn mark on my arm, but I was fine.

All around us, lava started to drip, was he planning on bringing lava down on both of us? He couldn't want to kill me that badly.

"Boom!" A noise like thunder went off, as my body started to emit even more energy, I felt the power grow in me even more.

I appeared before the Lance in a second, swung my spear, and watched as his sword was shattered to pieces as he tried to block my attack. I kept on going, swinging at his head, throat, chest, and ribs, trying to land a decisive blow.
