Chapter 82: The Loss of a Lance

My Beginning After the EndWords: 10623

Lance Bairon

"That's meaningless." I told him, knowing that I could dodge it with ease.

The Lance didn't care, he pulled his arm back, and threw it again, this time, lava dripped from the ceiling, and started to burn through my barrier and armor. I dodged the sword, dodged the spikes that grew at me, and brushed the lava off of me. It hurt a little, and I could see I had a burn mark on my arm, but I was fine.

All around us, lava started to drip, was he planning on bringing lava down on both of us? He couldn't want to kill me that badly.

"Boom!" A noise like thunder went off, as my body started to emit even more energy, I felt the power grow in me even more.

I appeared before the Lance in a second, swung my spear, and watched as his sword was shattered to pieces as he tried to block my attack. I kept on going, swinging at his head, throat, chest, and ribs, trying to land a decisive blow.

A sword grew in his hands, and our blades crashed again. "He should have sent Varay, you aren't strong enough to defeat me." Olfred spat in my face, making the anger boil up inside me even more.

"We'll see about that." Electricity jumped off of me, and onto the other Lance. I ignored the pain of the dripping lava, and pushed his sword to the side, then sent an elbow into his face, causing him to stumble backwards.

I kept on the attack, swinging my spear at his chest and cutting away at the armor that was there, then spun and brought the spear back to him. His sword shot up in a defensive position, and our blades connected once again.

I stared down at the dwarve, anger written on my face. "Why send Varay, it would be a boring fight for her?" I kicked Olfred in the gut, he stumbled backwards again, and I swung my spear at his face, managing to cut it slightly like he did to me.

Our wounds weren't bad, but they were starting to add up. "You think too highly of yourself, Bairon." Olfred swung his sword, I dodged it, feinted to the right, and then brought my spear down on his shoulder where his armor was. The two clashed, and I created another large indent in his armor.

Ignoring the damage I caused, Olfred sent his sword into my gut, but I managed to block it before it entered into me. I stuck my spear into the ground, coalesced my fist full of energy, spun using my spear to guide my momentum, and brought my fist right into the face of Olfred, sending him into the nearby wall.

I picked my spear back up and swung it at the Lances head.

His instincts must have kicked in, because he fell to the ground randomly as my spear flew past his head. He shifted his sword so it was aimed at my chest again, but before he could do anything, I brought a fist down on his face again.

His body sank into the floor, and the only reason I didn't continue my attack was because the golems behind me swung their swords at my back. I quickly spun around and destroyed each one, as I turned back to Olfred, he managed to get back to his feet, and move himself away from me.

I shot myself at him, not letting him catch his breath, my spear collided with the floor as I swung over my head at him, and he dodged it. Olfred went to slide his sword into my ribs, but I kicked it to the side, reached out and grabbed the dwarve and threw him into the wall.

He stepped out of the small indent he left, and I kept at him, we both swung and dodged each other's attacks. His sword went right past my face, and I swung my spear at him again. Olfred must have tripped on something, because he started to fall backwards, it didn't matter to me, I found my opening.

I connected with the Lance, and my spear punctured through his armor, and I kept on driving it in, aiming it at his core. I looked him dead in the eyes as I did too, making sure he knew this was personal, we started to move through the air as I picked him up off the ground with my spear.

As we flew with my momentum carrying us, I felt two hands grip my legs, and pull me away from the Lance, just before I destroyed his core.

I was tossed into the wall, creating an indent, then stones started to wrap themselves around my wrists and ankles. I sent out energy, destroyed them, and then turned back to Olfred, who was now in front of me, swinging his sword. I brought my spear up, and our blades crashed once again.

"Bairon, I am sorry, they told me the boy wouldn't be killed." Olfred said as lava and electric mana ate away at each other.

"And you trust their word, I know what the kid is capable of, but he is a kid." That kid is too young to be fighting in the war, but too strong not to be. "A kid, who is fighting a Retainer at the moment, because of you."

My electric won as it shattered his entire armor set, and I sent a kick right into his chest, exactly where my spear hit, sending the Lance flying further down the tunnel. I kept my attack going, as I appeared before him, swinging my spear.

Olfred ducked and dodged my attacks, conjured spikes and golems to stop me, but my anger and power was able to keep them from hitting me. My defenses grew as I thought more about this traitor, and the fact he sent up Virion to be captured.

I gripped a golem's throat, and smashed it in my hands, then spun back to the Lance, my spear danced through the air. Olfred back stepped, but a spark jumped off my spear, and managed to cut his cheek.

I continued at him, swinging my spear at him, an earth wall grew between us, but it didn't stop me. I smashed through it with ease, pulled my arm back, and aimed my spear again at the Lance. I released my spear, and it was shot through the air, directed towards the bleeding Lance's chest.

Walls grew rapidly, trying to slow my spears approach as Olfred flew away from me. The spear smashed through the walls, one after another, and when Olfred came back into view; I watched as he dodged it, and the spear flew past him.

I conjured bolts all around me, and then sent them flying at him. The bolts smashed into golems that grew and took the hits for Olfred. I surrounded my fist with energy and launched myself at Olfred. I'll beat him with my fist if I have to, his magma sword raced at my face, I sidestepped, and brought my fist to his face, without a helmet on anymore.

My fist collided with his face, sending him into the wall next to us, and I kept on going. I swung my right hand, and then my left, then my right, keeping the same energy the whole time. The Lance raised his arms up with magma around them, his sword was on the ground, after I knocked it out of his hands.

Blow after blow, Olfred took my hits like he wanted it to happen. I smashed his armor down, and he kept on replacing it. I gripped his arms and used my electric deviant powers to send a current of electricity through his body, paralyzing the Lance, and I watched as he fell to the ground.

"End it, Bairon." Olfred spoke calmly.

"Olfred, you wanted to lose, didn't you?" I reached down and picked his blade up; it didn't have any magma or earth magic on it anymore. "You know what you did was too far."

"I don't know what you mean." Olfred told me. "My fate is sealed; I can see it already."

"Tch." I snarled. "I'm not going to kill you if I don't have to." I kept the energy in his body going, making sure he can't use any spells. "We can get a lot of information out of you, if what Virion told me was true."

"What has Virion told you?" He asked, somewhat confused.

"That the Dwarves aligned themselves with Alacrya, not all of you, but most." I didn't want to believe him, but it's hard not to now.

"How would he know that?" The Lance didn't deny it, but like me, he didn't know how Virion could know that. "He's been fighting in the dungeons for the past year."

"I have no clue." He had a clone inside of the castle spying on Olfred, maybe he had clones in other places as well. "You aren't denying it, the other thing I don't understand, is that Virion said Mica has no involvement, and that she is loyal to Dicathen."

"That's true." How could Virion know all of this? "Virion keeps on surprising even me, the fact he knows this much, it doesn't matter though, he's gone." I forgot; he's fighting a Retainer. "Retainer Uto is the strongest from what I've heard, and I'll be honest with you, he could kill both of us in a fight."

"If he is, you will receive no mercy from the people in the castle, they all love the brat." I stared at him. "Virion asked me, because he knew Aya would kill you if she came."

"Ha, that kid predicted all of this then." Olfred was still sprawled out, unmoving on the ground.

"It appears like it." I held the sword on his chest. "Are you going to come willingly, or do I have to destroy your core?"

"That's up to you, Bairon, you have the real choice." Olfred spoke with a serious tone.

"What?" I asked, angrily.

"You could bring me in, or, you could go save the boy, I don't know if you'll make it in time, but it's your choice." I couldn't leave him, but he was right, if Virion truly was fighting the so called strongest Retainer, he needed me too. "I would hurry and make up your mind."

The clone told me he was fine, so far Virion has known everything, I don't know how, but he has. "I'm bringing you in, Olfred, Virion will return by himself."

"You have no clue the monster he is currently fighting, but it's your choice." The energy I had coursing through him intensified and knocked the Lance out. I threw his sword to the side and sat against the wall.

If Olfred took this seriously, the outcome might have been different. If Virion doesn't return though, I might be in trouble for not helping him. I needed to trust him, he beat Varay, he could be whatever monster he was fighting.

I'll wait at the base for him, Olfred won't be waking up anytime soon, and they're mana cuffs there. I stood up, and walked over to my fellow Lance's body, well, he's no Lance anymore.

I bent over slowly and picked his body up.

I couldn't use mana at the moment to help carry his body, I used a lot of it in the fight, and needed some time to replenish all of it. I found the teleportation gate that was somehow still functional and entered into it.

On the other side was the man named Callias. "You won, nice."

"Maybe, but Dicathen just lost a Lance." Not because he died, but because he was a traitor. "Go get a pair of mana cuffs for me, we don't want him to wake up and cause more chaos."

"Yes, sir." Callias bowed and went off as I started toward a tent to lay Olfred's body in.

"Shit." I said as I stopped in the middle of the base. "Why did you do it? I don't care if it was for your people, there had to of been another way than this." I knew he couldn't hear me, but it felt good to express this weird emotion.
