Chapter 96: Talk

My Beginning After the EndWords: 11178

(One Month Later)

It wasn't like I was getting any better, the thoughts and urges continued, but that was only when I fought. When I relaxed, and didn't think, everything was fine. It was only a matter of time now, soon I was going to be back in the war.

The only person who truly knows about how bad it has gotten is Ellie, and she is keeping it a secret for now. We are both hoping when Arthur comes back, he can help me in some way. Who knows, he was a King, maybe he had some way to deal with his bloodlust.

I only had to wait five more long months, it was painful, all I wanted to do was to see him, and tell him everything. I hated being stuck in this castle, it felt like a goddamn prison.

However, today was special, I finally had permission to speak with someone. I've been asking for a while, but Elder Virion just approved of it.

I was currently standing with two men, Elder Virion and a man named Gentry, who was one of the people in charge of this dungeon. We were currently walking in silence down the dark halls, I asked Elder Virion to come along just in case I tried to kill Uto for being Uto.

"He's in here." Gentry pointed to a large black fault, and I prepared myself. "How do you guys want to do this?"

"Let me talk to him alone, if you hear anything, come in." I told them, I wanted to talk to him freely, which meant Elder Virion couldn't be there. I'm sure he would feel any magic I tried to use, so if I go to kill him, he'll stop me.

"Be careful, Virion." Elder Virion gave me a concerned look. "He can still use magic, but we have countless mana restricters on him, you never know if they'll stop working."

"They'll continue to work, and anyways, if what you told us is true, there aren't any shadows in the room." Gentry added and began to open the door. I took a giant breath and steadied myself.

The door opened, and sitting in the corner of the room, chained up, was Uto. "Okay, I'll let you guys know when I am done."

"Good luck and be safe." Elder Virion said as I walked into the room, and the door closed behind me. I conjured a ball of fire in my hand so I could see, Uto couldn't see the fire, but he could feel it, he was blind.

"Hahaa, the Devil himself has come to greet me." Uto moved his body, so his back was against the wall. He couldn't stand, since I took one of his legs, and moving was hard for him, since I took one of his arms. "What an exciting day for me, isn't it?"

"Uto, you know, I respect you, even in this situation, you still talk like you have a plan." I noticed a chair in the corner to my right, and I walked over and pulled it to the center of the room and sat down in it.

"If I remember, you were the same, brat." Uto was comparing me to himself, that alarmed me, but also pleased me. "If only you were born an Alacryan, you would have thrived there."

"Under Agrona's Dictatorship, I'll pass." I told him, picturing trying to deal with all the bullshit.

"Dictatorship?" Uto asked me, either confused by the word or how I used it. "He isn't a dictator; he is our savior." I rolled my eyes. "He'll save all of you as well, not you and your family though, because once I get free, I'm coming for you all."

I shook my head. "Uto, even if you get free, without your horns and your whole body, I doubt you would be much of a challenge."

"Oh, trust me, I could still take you down." He raised his only arm; it had seven pairs of mana cuffs on it. "When these things come off, and they will, I'm coming for you first."

"I dare you; I'll make sure you never breath again if you do that." The urge to kill him appeared, but I pushed it away. "Anyway, I need to know something, and you are going to tell me, because I'm only a Lesser."

"Why would that make me tell you something?" He snarled at me. "You are messed up in the head, aren't you?"

"We both know I am, Uto." I shrugged and went on. "I need to know what Retainers and Scythes are participating in the war."

"Who knows?" He tilted his head. "Why, are you scared?"

"Uto, I know Scythe Cadell and Retainer Jagrette are participating." Even without eyes, he still looked crazy. "What? You didn't think I knew of this?"

"How can you?" He asked me, his voice more curious than usual.

"I have my ways." I made the fire in my hand burn brighter. "Now, who else, Retainer Cylrit will be involved later, I know that, but who else."

"Hahahaa." Retainer Uto started to laugh. "Who are you? We were told Dicathen had no idea Alacrya existed, but the knowledge you have of us says otherwise."

"That's because I am the only one with this knowledge." I ran my empty hand through my hair. "Scythe Nico will also be participating, I can't wait to meet him."

"Ha, you are going to be surprised when you do, brat." I looked at him confused, and he continued. "I would tell you, but what's the fun in that. I wish I could see all your faces when you found out."

"When we found out that Elijah was an Alacryan the whole time, and his real name was Nico?" Uto froze, in shock from my knowledge. "Uto, give me names."

"No." He shot at me. "You are such a strange kid, it fascinates me, too bad I'll have to kill you."

"Keep saying that, honestly, your ability to act like a dick a hundred percent of the time, fascinates me." I told him. "Uto, come on, I'm a Lesser, you could spare me the knowledge."

"I could, but what's the fun in that, right, a boy who thinks like you should understand." I nodded my head at him. "See, now, let me out, and let's have ourselves a rematch, this time I'll kill you."

"As much as I would like that, I don't think they will let that happen." Our battle was so much fun, I could do it again, I knew it was wrong, but come on.

"Free me, and let's kill them all, and I'll bring you to Alacrya, where you belong." Uto glared at me. "The look you give me, shows me that you want to kill me, it shows me how much you are like me. Alacrya would be happy to accept you into our ranks, all you have to do is get me out of here."

"Wow, how lucky, all I would have to do is free you, and they would take me in, that sounds too easy." I said sarcastically. "Uto, we both know Agrona wants me for either two reasons, I won't get into them, because I don't know if you even know, but I can tell you straight up, I'll never fight for Alacrya."

"Haha, I know." Uto spat at me. "You are a loyal Lesser, unlike your fellow Lance, what was his name, Ustread, no, Olfred."

"Yeah, I knew that already, that's why he is also locked up here. We know that the Alacryan soldiers are underground because the dwarves helped them, but we are letting it go, keeping the knowledge that we know a secret. So, if you want to push my buttons, you are going to have to do a lot better." I leaned back in the chair and sent him a smile.

"There's no pushing your buttons." Uto changed the way he spoke to a calm tone. "The Devil of Dicathen, one of the heros that will save the continent, of course, behind your brother. I was told that he was stronger than you, but I don't think that's true." Agrona or someone had to of told him this. "But I can assure you one thing, if we replayed that day, I would have killed you in a mere second before you even realized what was going on."

"Ha." I laughed. "You can think that if you want, but it's not like time will rewind for you."

"True." Uto agreed with me? No way. "Dicathen will be conquered by Agrona, it's only a matter of time, Virion."

"Did you just use my name?" I asked him, taken aback by this. "Wow, that must have been hard for you."

"Brat, I am only letting you know that the fall of Dicathen is inevitable. If you don't take my magic from me now, I'll come back for you." Just threats and more threats. "You must know that I'll be fine with no limbs, I'll replace them."

"Ha, you know how weird that sounds." I told him with a slight laugh. "Uto, are there any Retainers in Dicathen at the moment?"

"Ahhhh." Uto stretched his one arm. "You know I am not going to tell you anything?"

"I wish you would." So, I am going to learn nothing, great. "Are the ships going to arrive soon?"

His calm demeanor changed, and gritted his teeth. "How in the world do you know that? You, a kid, know about our ships, how?" He seemed amazed and confused. "You know Retainers, you know Scythes, what else do you possibly know?"

"We aren't here to discuss what I know, but if you don't want to speak, I'll leave, I don't need this. I'll figure everything out on my own, so you can sit in this cell until your savior comes for you." I stood and looked down at him. "And when your savior comes for you, he won't free you, he'll kill you."

"Don't speak like that?" He snarled. "Remember those words, I'm going to feed them right back to you, Lesser!" Uto got really angry. "I am going to kill you! You took everything from me!"

"Relax, Lesser." I squatted down so I was face to face with him. "And if no one comes to save you, the curse on you will activate, which I think is funny, we are both cursed by the Vritra in some way."

"Curse?" Uto said, did he not know, he had too, right? "What curse?"

"What saviors you have." I smiled at him. "My Beast Will is corrupted by something you Alacryans did, do you have an idea about that?"

"Haha, you have a corrupted Will, oh, that's hilarious." So, he did know about the corrupted Wills.

"Yeah, but I've still bonded with it, the Serpent inside isn't trying to take over my core anymore." I looked at him dead in the place he had eyes before, knowing he couldn't see me. "The only this the Will is doing to me, is making me like you."

"You should consider yourself lucky then, most of the corrupted Wills try to take over the cores of their users." I nodded at Uto's words. "And being like me, isn't bad, brat."

"I know, I need to know though, and I am asking from crazy person to crazy person, is it possible for Dicthen to come up with a cure for it?" I asked him, squinting my eyes at him.

"From crazy person to crazy person, no, you won't find one here, I could bring you to Alacrya, and you could become my disciple." I sighed and looked up into the air. "Imagine being trained by the best of the best, we would make you a god with your blood magic."

"I've already been trained by the best of the best in Dicathen, I'll take my chances here." I knew that if I was in Alacrya, and I was lucky enough to have Vritra blood, I would be tremendously strong. Actually, having the blood would be lucky, but what comes after wouldn't be, the experiments on you, I think I would pass on. "And you are telling me there is zero chance we find a way to help me?"

Uto shook his head. "You won't, and we both know that being trained in Alacrya is way different than being trained here. With the knowledge you have, you must know that too."

I got back up to my feet. "Hmm." I rubbed the back of my head. "I know that." I turned toward the door. "Uto, this was nice, you match my energy, and I like that. You gave me what I needed."

"Oh, did I? And what was that?" I knocked on the door for them to open it.

"An excuse to return to the field." I told him simply. "Maybe not yet, but in time."

The door opened, and Uto said one more thing. "If that's true, don't stop being a monster, it's the only way you'll survive."
