What Gu Yi’an said made a lot of sense to Xia Xinsheng.

“Sorry for the trouble then, Yi’an!”

He shook his head and smiled. “Don’t say that, Auntie. Zijue helped me out in the past, so this is no trouble at all!”

Xia Xinsheng looked at Gu Yi’an as he walked out. These children are so sensible.

Guan Zijue woke up in the morning of the very next day. Xia Xinsheng pressed the bell to call for the doctor right away.

The doctor, however, was taking a long time to appear.

When Xia Xinsheng walked out of the ward and saw Yi’an there, she said, “Yi’an, Zijue’s awake. I’m getting the doctor. You go in and look after him first!”

Gu Yi’an nodded and entered the ward.

Guan Zijue looked away when they made eye contact, turning his gaze to the window.

Gu Yi’an felt a little awkward at this. He then asked, “You’re awake?”

“Can’t tell?”

This effectively silenced Gu Yi’an.

Guan Zijue then asked, “Why are you here?”

“I wanted to wait until you woke up!”

This annoyed Guan Zijue.?He stayed here just to wait for me to wake up?

“Okay. You can leave now that I’m awake!”

Is he chasing me away?

He looked slightly despondent at this. Both of them were suddenly quiet, as if they were two kids who were annoyed with each other.

Xia Xinsheng arrived with the doctor in tow shortly after.

The doctor smiled after he finished checking on Guan Zijue. “Congratulations, the patient is doing very well. The rest of his injuries are minor and we’ll just need to replace the cast!”

Before Xia Xinsheng could answer, Guan Zijue asked, “When can I be discharged?”

The doctor smiled at him as he said, “You can be discharged anytime with how well you’re recovering, but I’d suggest for you to stay a couple of days since we’ve just set the cast. You can be discharged after your other injuries are healed well enough!”

Xia Xinsheng spoke as she walked the doctor out, “We’ll let him stay for a couple of days then!”

Guan Zijue frowned when he heard this. He did not like staying in the hospital as the smell of disinfectant reminded him of several unpleasant things, like his teammates who were no longer around.

There were several times when he was the one waiting outside the operating room, and he hated that feeling of having to send someone away.

Gu Yi’an could already guess what he was thinking, and he suggested, “You can still get yourself discharged!”

Guan Zijue looked up at him. “What?”

Having always been at loggerheads, he was suspicious of the change in Gu Yi’an’s attitude.

He was suddenly reminded of how the accident happened, and he couldn’t help but wonder if Gu Yi’an was feeling guilty about what happened.

Noticing Guan Zijue’s expression, Gu Yi’an laughed and said, “What are you thinking about? I’m a doctor and I just so happen to be free. I can take care of you if you want to be discharged. You can always look into my background if you’re unconvinced. I’ve never failed in any of my operations. So I’m confident that I can take good care of you!”

This irritated Guan Zijue again. “I don’t need you to take care of me. I’d like to stay here!”

“Oh… I see!” Gu Yi’an nodded and said, “I’ll get going then, since you like it here!”

“Don’t you dare!”

“I have legs. I can go wherever I want to!”

Guan Zijue had no idea why he asked that. It just came out of him naturally.

After a while, he asked, “Are you for real?”

Gu Yi’an pretended not to understand. “I have no idea what you’re talking about!”

“You...” Guan Zijue wanted to punch him, but he was immobilized right now.

“Leave then!”

Gu Yi’an finally decided that he had teased him enough and said, “Just teasing you. I’m serious though. You can get yourself discharged if you want to. I’m sure your Mum would be relieved to hear that I can take care of you.”

Guan Zijue simply nodded at this.

Gu Yi’an retired to a corner and waited for Xia Xinsheng to return.

Seconds after she entered, Guan Zijue asked, “Mum, I'd like to discuss something with you.”

“What is it? You should be focusing on recovering!”

Guan Zijue frowned. “Mum, the smell of disinfectant is horrible. I want to go home!”

Xia Xinsheng then said, “Just stay for one more day then. I’ll take you home after that!”

It was obvious she was referring to the Guan family home. “Mum, I don’t want to go back there. I want to go back to my own apartment in the city.”

Xia Xinsheng did not like what she heard. “No. We have a helper back at home and I can take care of you. How are you going to take care of yourself back at your apartment?”

Guan Zijue shook his head. “Mum, listen. Great doctor Gu over there says he’s available to take care of me during this time. You should have heard about this from Mo Suqing too. Gu Yi’an was the one who saved her twins at the time. He’s more than qualified to take care of me!”

He emphasized the words ‘more than qualified’ in an attempt to convince his mother.

Xia Xinsheng looked at Gu Yi’an. “Yi’an, can Zijue really be discharged?”

Xia Xinsheng’s brows creased. “That’s fine and all, but...”

“Wouldn’t that be too troublesome for you?”

Guan Zijue spoke before Gu Yi’an could answer. “There’s no need to worry about him, Mum. He’s got a lot of time on his hands!”

Finally, Xia Xinsheng agreed for Guan Zijue to get discharged, but her condition was for Gu Yi’an to be with him if Guan Zijue wanted to return to his apartment in the city.

Gu Yi’an sent Guan Zijue back to his apartment before sending Xia Xinsheng back home. To Guan Zijue’s horror, the first thing Gu Yi’an did in his apartment was to remodel his bedroom.

Guan Zijue’s huge bedroom had turned into two smaller rooms in the blink of an eye.

Gu Yi’an said this was to create a more conducive sleeping environment for the both of them, since getting a good night’s rest was essential for recovery.

This infuriated Guan Zijue. This guy destroyed my room!

However, there was nothing much Guan Zijue could do about it since Gu Yi’an was staying over.

Guan Zijue did not get quality rest on the first day after he returned home since Gu Yi’an was remodeling the room.

According to Gu Yi’an however, having some background noise was better for recovery. He said it was better than the silence in the hospital since blood circulation improves when a person is placed in a chaotic environment, and that will help the injuries heal faster.

It sounded like a load of nonsense to Guan Zijue, but he did not get angry at this. Instead, he actually found Gu Yi’an rather lovable.

It was absolute chaos because of the remodeling works on the first day he returned to his apartment, and it was already late at night when the workers left.

Guan Zijue’s huge bed seemed to take up all the space in his new bedroom, while the new bed Gu Yi’an purchased seemed to fit perfectly into his room, with just the right amount of extra space.

Guan Zijue looked at his new bedroom with slight disdain, causing Gu Yi’an to say, “What’s with that look on your face, Guan Zijue? You’re supposed to sleep in your bedroom, and you’re supposed to sleep on a bed. The main point of any bedroom is the bed!”
