Chapter 329: Chapter 329 – A Kidney-related Illness

Su Jincheng moved Yue Wuxin’s body to the morgue in the organization’s headquarters while Luo Qiqi was being checked on.

Su Jincheng was in a panic-stricken state as he waited for the doctor.

One of them is dead and the other is hurt. How can I forgive myself for this!

When the doctor walked out, he said, “Dark Night, you have to be prepared for what I’m about to tell you. She’s four weeks pregnant!”

A look of surprise appeared on Su Jincheng’s face, but it was quickly replaced by disbelief after hearing what the doctor said next.

“But you can’t keep the baby!”

Su Jincheng grabbed the doctor’s collar in anger. “Why not? It’s mine!”

He didn’t understand why the doctor would say something like that at all.

The doctor then explained patiently, “She might die if you keep the baby because she might not be strong enough to make it through the entire pregnancy safely. Knowing that, would you still want to keep the baby?”

Su Jincheng stared at the doctor. “Why?”

“Dark Night, she’s an agent right?”

Luo Qiqi was from Interpol, but her job was rather similar to what their agents did. He thus nodded.

The doctor said, “She had sustained many injuries in the past, probably because of her job.”

“But of course, those injuries are not enough to affect her health in any big way. She probably had one kidney taken away in the past couple of years or so, so her immunity is a lot weaker than what it was in the past. Also, she’s basically been an alcoholic for the past two years, and that has taken a huge toll on her body. She hasn’t collapsed because she works out diligently and she was very fit and healthy before this. My recommendation is to abort the baby, or else she might not be able to survive!”

Su Jincheng paled at this. Abort the baby? I was the one who took her kidney away. It’s all my fault!

He shut his eyes in pain. “Let me think about this!”

The doctor shook his head before walking away.

Su Jincheng would choose Luo Qiqi over an unborn baby in the blink of an eye. But if he decided to abort the baby without telling her about it, Luo Qiqi would definitely find out. She was no fool.

Su Jincheng did not know how he should break the news to her.

What should I do?

He squatted right where he was, taking some time to ponder over this.

Luo Qiqi was already awake when he entered the ward.

She turned away upon seeing him. “What are you doing here!”

“To see you, Qiqi. I’m sorry. It’s my fault!”

Luo Qiqi smirked.

“Why would the leader of The Dark Night visit a nobody like me? Are you here to see if I’m dead?”

“Don’t say that, Qiqi. You know that I didn’t mean it!”

“I don’t even know what’s going on in your head anymore!”

“Qiqi, I’m sorry for what happened earlier. I shouldn’t have said that. I was just too upset. You know that Yue Wuxin isn’t malicious, and she chose to do that for me! I’m just upset that she’s gone now!”

Luo Qiqi turned to him in anger. “Su Jincheng, do you think that I can’t tell Yue Wuxin is a kind person at heart? You’re not the only one upset over her death! But there’s nothing we can do about it! Our only choice is to move on. We have to continue with our lives even if it’s a horrible life spent drowning ourselves in alcohol!”

This hurt Su Jincheng. He knew that she used alcohol as an escape in the past two years because she thought he was dead.

I’m really the one to blame for everything!

“Qiqi, I understand. I’ve asked someone to contact Yue Wuxin’s parents and they’re already on the way here. They’ll be bringing Yue Wuxin back...”

Hearing Yue Wuxin’s name made Luo Qiqi feel like crying. Poor girl.

She then asked, “What’s wrong with me anyway? What did the doctor say? Why did I pass out so suddenly?”

Should I tell her the truth?, wondered Su Jincheng.

She’d be so upset over the news. But she’d probably hate me for it if I don’t tell her either!

Luo Qiqi felt frustrated at Su Jincheng’s silence.

“What’s going on! Say something, Su Jincheng! I’m going to ask the doctor myself!”

She made to get up from the bed, and that made Su Jincheng give her an answer immediately.

“The doctor said that your kidney is weak and it affects your immunity, which is why you fainted...”

This seemed to appease Luo Qiqi as she pulled the blanket over herself and settled back into bed.

“Is that it? So it’s just my kidney.”

She then turned away from Su Jincheng.

I’m such a coward for not telling her the truth!

Luo Qiqi and Su Jincheng picked up Pedrov and Song Xiaoxiao when they arrived.

Song Xiaoxiao started bawling upon seeing Yue Wuxin’s body.

She regretted everything. Why did I have to do that to her? I shouldn’t have done all that.

Having transferred Yue Wuxin’s voice clip into another recorder, Luo Qiqi passed it to Pedrov.

He listened to the recording alone in a room, and his eyes were brimming with tears when Luo Qiqi saw him again.

It was heartbreaking to have to see a parent send their own child away like this.

Luo Qiqi and Su Jincheng seemed to be engaged in a cold war after Yue Wuxin’s body was sent back.

Luo Qiqi ignored everything that Su Jincheng said or did.

A couple of days turned into a couple of weeks before it was an entire month where Luo Qiqi ignored Su Jincheng.

Su Jincheng was at a loss of what to do. Luo Qiqi was probably still unaware that she was pregnant at this point.

We have to abort it as soon as possible, or else her body wouldn’t be able to take it. We can always look for a kidney and focus on her recovery after that.

Su Jincheng thus went to the doctor to schedule the abortion without Luo Qiqi’s knowledge.

He planned to discuss this with the doctor before telling Luo Qiqi about everything. He refused to endanger her life in any way, even if she might end up hating him for it.

Luo Qiqi had been staying in their hospital all this time, and she found it strange after a while. She felt that there was no need for her to be stuck in there even if she had a weak constitution.

Bored out of her wits, Luo Qiqi decided to go to the doctor to get a clearer picture of what was really going on.

She heard Su Jincheng’s voice when she arrived outside the doctor’s office.

“Tomorrow. We’ll do it tomorrow. How should I convince her if she’s unwilling?”

“Dark Night, I’ve already asked you to tell her the truth and get her agreement on this. You can’t keep the baby. Her body wouldn’t be able to take it. Why haven’t you told her yet! I recommend for the abortion to be done as soon as possible so that it wouldn’t take too much of a toll on her body!”

“Okay, I’ll tell her later. Let’s schedule the operation for tomorrow!”

He turned to leave only to see Luo Qiqi at the door.

Luo Qiqi stared at him in disbelief. I’m pregnant?!

He made me stay here and refused to tell me I was pregnant! He wants to get rid of my baby? How could he be so cruel!

Luo Qiqi cut him off instantly. “What? Listen to how you planned to get my baby killed?”

“It’s not like that, Qiqi. You’re too weak now, you can’t keep the baby. Let’s try again after you’re stronger, okay?”

“No!”

She then turned, determined to leave this place as quickly as she could.

I have to leave right now.

Su Jincheng followed behind her closely and watched as she started packing up right after returning to her ward.

“Qiqi, what are you doing?”

“Getting discharged!”

“Stop it, Qiqi. Why are you being so stubborn!”
