Su Jincheng moved Yue Wuxinâs body to the morgue in the organizationâs headquarters while Luo Qiqi was being checked on.
Su Jincheng was in a panic-stricken state as he waited for the doctor.
One of them is dead and the other is hurt. How can I forgive myself for this!
When the doctor walked out, he said, âDark Night, you have to be prepared for what Iâm about to tell you. Sheâs four weeks pregnant!â
A look of surprise appeared on Su Jinchengâs face, but it was quickly replaced by disbelief after hearing what the doctor said next.
âBut you canât keep the baby!â
Su Jincheng grabbed the doctorâs collar in anger. âWhy not? Itâs mine!â
He didnât understand why the doctor would say something like that at all.
The doctor then explained patiently, âShe might die if you keep the baby because she might not be strong enough to make it through the entire pregnancy safely. Knowing that, would you still want to keep the baby?â
Su Jincheng stared at the doctor. âWhy?â
âDark Night, sheâs an agent right?â
Luo Qiqi was from Interpol, but her job was rather similar to what their agents did. He thus nodded.
The doctor said, âShe had sustained many injuries in the past, probably because of her job.â
âBut of course, those injuries are not enough to affect her health in any big way. She probably had one kidney taken away in the past couple of years or so, so her immunity is a lot weaker than what it was in the past. Also, sheâs basically been an alcoholic for the past two years, and that has taken a huge toll on her body. She hasnât collapsed because she works out diligently and she was very fit and healthy before this. My recommendation is to abort the baby, or else she might not be able to survive!â
Su Jincheng paled at this. Abort the baby? I was the one who took her kidney away. Itâs all my fault!
He shut his eyes in pain. âLet me think about this!â
The doctor shook his head before walking away.
Su Jincheng would choose Luo Qiqi over an unborn baby in the blink of an eye. But if he decided to abort the baby without telling her about it, Luo Qiqi would definitely find out. She was no fool.
Su Jincheng did not know how he should break the news to her.
What should I do?
He squatted right where he was, taking some time to ponder over this.
Luo Qiqi was already awake when he entered the ward.
She turned away upon seeing him. âWhat are you doing here!â
âTo see you, Qiqi. Iâm sorry. Itâs my fault!â
Luo Qiqi smirked.
âWhy would the leader of The Dark Night visit a nobody like me? Are you here to see if Iâm dead?â
âDonât say that, Qiqi. You know that I didnât mean it!â
âI donât even know whatâs going on in your head anymore!â
âQiqi, Iâm sorry for what happened earlier. I shouldnât have said that. I was just too upset. You know that Yue Wuxin isnât malicious, and she chose to do that for me! Iâm just upset that sheâs gone now!â
Luo Qiqi turned to him in anger. âSu Jincheng, do you think that I canât tell Yue Wuxin is a kind person at heart? Youâre not the only one upset over her death! But thereâs nothing we can do about it! Our only choice is to move on. We have to continue with our lives even if itâs a horrible life spent drowning ourselves in alcohol!â
This hurt Su Jincheng. He knew that she used alcohol as an escape in the past two years because she thought he was dead.
Iâm really the one to blame for everything!
âQiqi, I understand. Iâve asked someone to contact Yue Wuxinâs parents and theyâre already on the way here. Theyâll be bringing Yue Wuxin back...â
Hearing Yue Wuxinâs name made Luo Qiqi feel like crying. Poor girl.
She then asked, âWhatâs wrong with me anyway? What did the doctor say? Why did I pass out so suddenly?â
Should I tell her the truth?, wondered Su Jincheng.
Sheâd be so upset over the news. But sheâd probably hate me for it if I donât tell her either!
Luo Qiqi felt frustrated at Su Jinchengâs silence.
âWhatâs going on! Say something, Su Jincheng! Iâm going to ask the doctor myself!â
She made to get up from the bed, and that made Su Jincheng give her an answer immediately.
âThe doctor said that your kidney is weak and it affects your immunity, which is why you fainted...â
This seemed to appease Luo Qiqi as she pulled the blanket over herself and settled back into bed.
âIs that it? So itâs just my kidney.â
She then turned away from Su Jincheng.
Iâm such a coward for not telling her the truth!
â¦â¦
Luo Qiqi and Su Jincheng picked up Pedrov and Song Xiaoxiao when they arrived.
Song Xiaoxiao started bawling upon seeing Yue Wuxinâs body.
She regretted everything. Why did I have to do that to her? I shouldnât have done all that.
Having transferred Yue Wuxinâs voice clip into another recorder, Luo Qiqi passed it to Pedrov.
He listened to the recording alone in a room, and his eyes were brimming with tears when Luo Qiqi saw him again.
It was heartbreaking to have to see a parent send their own child away like this.
Luo Qiqi and Su Jincheng seemed to be engaged in a cold war after Yue Wuxinâs body was sent back.
Luo Qiqi ignored everything that Su Jincheng said or did.
A couple of days turned into a couple of weeks before it was an entire month where Luo Qiqi ignored Su Jincheng.
Su Jincheng was at a loss of what to do. Luo Qiqi was probably still unaware that she was pregnant at this point.
We have to abort it as soon as possible, or else her body wouldnât be able to take it. We can always look for a kidney and focus on her recovery after that.
Su Jincheng thus went to the doctor to schedule the abortion without Luo Qiqiâs knowledge.
He planned to discuss this with the doctor before telling Luo Qiqi about everything. He refused to endanger her life in any way, even if she might end up hating him for it.
Luo Qiqi had been staying in their hospital all this time, and she found it strange after a while. She felt that there was no need for her to be stuck in there even if she had a weak constitution.
Bored out of her wits, Luo Qiqi decided to go to the doctor to get a clearer picture of what was really going on.
She heard Su Jinchengâs voice when she arrived outside the doctorâs office.
âTomorrow. Weâll do it tomorrow. How should I convince her if sheâs unwilling?â
âDark Night, Iâve already asked you to tell her the truth and get her agreement on this. You canât keep the baby. Her body wouldnât be able to take it. Why havenât you told her yet! I recommend for the abortion to be done as soon as possible so that it wouldnât take too much of a toll on her body!â
âOkay, Iâll tell her later. Letâs schedule the operation for tomorrow!â
He turned to leave only to see Luo Qiqi at the door.
Luo Qiqi stared at him in disbelief. Iâm pregnant?!
He made me stay here and refused to tell me I was pregnant! He wants to get rid of my baby? How could he be so cruel!
Panic flashed in Su Jinchengâs eyes. âQiqi, listen to me!â n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Luo Qiqi cut him off instantly. âWhat? Listen to how you planned to get my baby killed?â
âItâs not like that, Qiqi. Youâre too weak now, you canât keep the baby. Letâs try again after youâre stronger, okay?â
âNo!â
She then turned, determined to leave this place as quickly as she could.
I have to leave right now.
Su Jincheng followed behind her closely and watched as she started packing up right after returning to her ward.
âQiqi, what are you doing?â
âGetting discharged!â
âStop it, Qiqi. Why are you being so stubborn!â
