Chapter 340: Chapter 340 – I Wouldn’t Want to Live Without You

Gu Yi’an’s eyes flashed when he realized that the helicopter did not belong to Sin Eliminators, and the wolves seemed to be on higher alert now.

A rope ladder dropped from the helicopter as Ye Zhongjue stuck his head out and yelled, “Yi’an, come up! Let’s get out of here first!”

Just as Gu Yi’an grabbed the ladder and climbed up, the wolves pounced.

Luckily, the pilot was able to get everyone out of the precarious situation.

Ye Zhongjue frowned when he saw the bloodied Gu Yi’an.

“What happened?”

Gu Yi’an answered with silence.

“I can’t believe you! You were lucky five years ago, but what about next time?”

“I wouldn’t want to live if he’s dead anyway!”

This rendered Ye Zhongjue speechless.

He understood why Gu Yi’an felt that way, but he couldn’t bear seeing his close friend like this.

Ye Zhongjue could only shake his head.

“Fine. Let’s get your injuries treated first!”

No one realized the silent, mysterious man sitting in the corner of the helicopter.

A mix of sorrow and joy flashed across the man’s eyes when he heard Gu Yi’an say that he didn’t want to live without Guan Zijue.

Gu Yi’an would find out that the Guan family had given up on their search when they returned to Emperor City. Two months had already passed, and they felt that it was highly unlikely that Guan Zijue could ever be found.

Gu Yi’an was the only one who still firmly believed that Guan Zijue was alive somewhere.

Ye Zhongjue had to literally force Gu Yi’an to get his injuries treated at the hospital and to take a rest.

After a nap, Gu Yi’an spotted a figure near the window when he wanted to get down from the bed.

It doesn’t look like Ye Zhongjue. He actually looks a little like Guan Zijue.

However, he felt that it was quite impossible for Guan Zijue to appear there at this point.

Sensing that the figure did not seem hostile, Gu Yi’an asked, “You are?”

There was a tiny glimmer of hope in Gu Yi’an that he may be Guan Zijue, but he was met with disappointment when the figure turned around.

The man walked up to Gu Yi’an and said, “Someone asked me to pass this to you!”

Gu Yi’an took the note and the man was gone before he knew it.

Gu Yi’an then looked down to read the note.

‘Don’t tell anyone. I’m waiting at the village!’

Gu Yi’an’s heart leapt into his mouth.

This is his handwriting! He’s fine! That’s great!

Joy emanated from Gu Yi’an.

He then burnt the note quickly.

I’ll have to be extra careful since he doesn’t want anyone else to find out. There would definitely be people tracking my every move right now!

Gu Yi’an was in deep thought when Ye Zhongjue entered a while later.

“What are your plans? Are you going into the mountains again?”

“No. I’d like to travel. The heavens probably don’t want to give us a second chance even though I’ve tried so hard. I’ve decided on this. I'll travel to take my mind off things. Jue, don’t come looking for me!”

Ye Zhongjue frowned. “Are you sure?”

Gu Yi’an nodded. “I’ve decided!”

“Okay. I won’t stop you if that’s the case! Don’t think too much about things. It’s nice to take some time off!”

“Mm!”

That very night, Gu Yi’an purchased an air ticket to America. As he expected, he could sense that he was being followed when he went to the airport the next morning.

He did not shake them off and allowed them to board the plane with him.

Gu Yi’an then spent his time touring America and making a trip to France, trying to convince whoever was tailing him that he was indeed traveling. His plan was successful and they stopped tailing him after half a month or so.

Gu Yi’an then bought another ticket under an assumed identity and returned to the country with facial prosthetics on. He headed directly to that very village upon arrival.

He saw that the clinic door was open when he arrived, and tears filled his eyes when he saw the figure inside.

It felt like a century ago when they last met.

Gu Yi’an rushed up and hugged him. “Big Brother...”

“Yi’an, you’re back!”

Gu Yi’an was shocked when Guan Zijue turned to face him. The voice belonged to Guan Zijue, but that wasn’t his face!

Gu Yi’an frowned at this.

Guan Zijue laughed and said, “Facial prosthetics!”

Sudden realization hit Gu Yi’an.

“So it was you that day!”

Guan Zijue nodded. “Yup!”

“Why did you do that?”

“We don’t have to care about being on opposite sides of the law now. I’d rather live in seclusion with you like this!”

“What about your dreams then?”

“Haven’t I already achieved them? I’m already a general, and I was in a position thousands could only dream of being in. I’m content with that! All I want now is to be with you!”

“Big Brother, let’s get married!”

Guan Zijue was visibly surprised by the sudden suggestion.

“Don’t be so shocked. I’ve thought about this. Let’s go overseas, France or maybe America, and register our marriage there. We can adopt children when we’re ready. But let’s do that later. All I want now is to spend time with you! What do you say? Big Brother!”

“Okay!”

When they left the village, Gu Yi’an found out that Guan Zijue had donated all the assets in his name to the village. He did it even before he left for that mission in the mountains.

Gu Yi’an held Guan Zijue’s hands tightly when they were on the plane.

“Big Brother, it’s fine if you don’t have money. I can take care of you! I have enough money for the rest of our lives!”

Guan Zijue smiled. “Okay!”

Gu Yi’an took Guan Zijue to a modest villa in France. There was a tiny garden in the front, and it looked like a very cosy home. Gu Yi’an had planned and arranged for this place the last time he visited.

They registered their marriage in France on the third day they were there, and exchanged rings with a pastor as their witness.

“Big Brother, I’ll love you forever. This is just proof on paper, but I promise to hold your hand and be with you forever and ever!”

“Do you want to go on a honeymoon?” Guan Zijue asked gently.

Gu Yi’an beamed at this.

“Big Brother, is there anywhere you’d like to go?”

After a moment of contemplation, Guan Zijue said, “I want to see the aurora in Iceland! I didn’t have the chance to travel in the past few years, so now that I can...”

“Big Brother, I heard that couples would enjoy blissful lives if they are able to watch the aurora together!”

They thus left for Iceland three days later.

It was so cold in Iceland that Gu Yi’an seemed to be shivering all the time, but he insisted that it was because of the time he spent in the snowy mountains that caused it.

They were fortunate enough to see the aurora on the second night they were there.
