CHAPTER 33

SLIDE ; Y. CHISHIYA872 words~5 min read

SLIDE.

Chishiya put a protective hand out in front of you, keeping you from running.

Then several words popped across the screen. Below the message 'special urgent broadcast,' there were the four suits of the cards all listed in value lowest to highest. Fanfare music played in the background.

Even though you were able to guess that it was Mira behind this, you were still surprised that it would happen now. It was definitely a shock to everyone else when Mira's voice appeared.

"Congratulations to all players." Mira's face appeared on the screen.

Arisu stared at the screen before breathing out her name. "Mira.."

There was a quick moment of electronic warbling before she continued. "Except for the face cards, you've all completed the numbered games and emerged victorious. And the prize of these sweet victories was the sacrifice of many lives. I wonder.. just how many of your close friends have died? Do you remember the ones that were shot in the head?"

Several monitors changed at a time to play clips of people clamoring and screaming while participating in a game.

"That girl you burned alive.." The video of the Highschooler from the first game you played showed up.

Another set of monitors started playing another clip. "The ones struck down by lightning.. or the ones who drowned? The ones whose heads were blown off? Your friends."

More and more monitors began to play videos of each game. "All that despair you felt. Those gruesome scenes, you'll never forget them. And that.. really touches me."

"What is her problem?" You muttered, becoming more disgusted with each word that fell out of her mouth.

The screens warbled again. "To all surviving players, we just waited to give you a present... There will be new games! Let's all play, and this time with all the face cards!"

"I guess I better start writing my damned will." You scoffed.

Chishiya heard your comment. "You're not going to die here Y/n."

Mira's laugh echoed through the completely monitor covered space. "We've got so many more wonderful and exciting games in store for you all, so be prepared.

"So then.. is she the game master?" Usagi asked.

You tried to add to the conversation to avoid suspicion. "I would guess so, the things she said wouldn't have made sense otherwise."

"The next stage starts tomorrow, when the clock strikes noon." There was a short moment of static. "Let's have some fun, all together!"

"So we have to fight once again." Usagi pointed out.

"Let's get this over with then." You sighed.

Arisu then brought up his observation. "But there's one difference. Now we know what our target looks like."

Fireworks shot up into the bright blue sky. It was almost noon, and the games would be starting soon.

You turned to Chishiya. He seemed way too calm; as always.

"Hey, do you think we should get moving?" You asked the heart surgeon.

He got up from his sitting position. "Yeah. Let's go to the center of the city."

"Should I bring my bag?" You pointed at your tennis bag that was leaning against the wall. "I'm not sure what game will be first, and I'm honestly not trying to get dragged down by a 40 or 50 pound bag."

Chishiya took a look at your bag. "Take the most important things."

"Guns, ammo, first aid kit, some water, pen, and paper." You looked at the doctor for approval.

He nodded. "Seems like a good selection. Just make sure you have a smaller bag to carry the things in."

"It's in my bag, hold on." You dug through one of the pockets of your bag and fished out a bag much smaller.

"That bag is impressively big."

"I know, I don't even know how everything fits."

You laid out everything you were going to take with you onto the ground. Opening the bag, you noticed that you could fit everything, except a thing or two.

"Chishiya, could you hold something? Don't worry, it won't be anything huge."

He took his hands out of the pockets of his white Nike jacket. "What do you want me to hold?"

"This." You picked up one of the handguns you collected and handed it to your friend. "It's one of the ones I took from the militants. I'll give you a box of ammo in case we get separated."

He scoffed. "I'm not going to let you get out of my sight. You know that Y/n."

"You always say that, but I won't be able to always be with you. Even with the deal that we made, it's not like I'm going to be stuck to your side forever."

"Then I'll make you have no choice but to do so."

His words were immediately backed up with a gun that was aimed at you. Chishiya's expression remained unchanged as he cocked the gun.

"I would really hate to do this Y/n." He moved closer towards your body. "Seeing how you just can't take the side of your deal seriously, I'll have to force you to."
