Jax's POV
"So why aren't I allowed in there?" Amara says leaning on the bedroom door.
"No one's allowed in there." Gio says and she rolls her eyes.
"Do you know what's in there?" She asks Gio and Gio sighs.
Gio and Amara have basically been together since we went back to Italy last Christmas. I don't really want to cause an argument between them but I don't really care at the same time.
"Come on Jax it's just a room, I'm curious. You guys pushed me into living here with you but I'm bored. I get left here all the time on my own. There are no girls around except for an occasional one I bump into that belongs to you or Matteo." She says.
She would never talk to me like this if she wasn't basically with Gio.
Gio's giving me those eyes signalling for me to tell Amara but I didn't feel like it.
"No. Leave it alone Amara I am serious." I say and head down stairs leaving Amara and Gio stood there.
Since mom and dad left we live in the same house.
My house that only Gio knows about is now classed as a safe house as only me and Gio know about it. And well Alannah and Lara but they don't live near here anymore.
I've had my cousin Amara and Matteo move in with us. Matteo I like, Amara can be a pain in the ass. Matteo is serious but not to serious at the same time.
Amara is only here because Matteo begged and pleaded. They're twins and apparently don't know how to not be around each other.
No one knows about Alannah and Lara. Everyone that does, doesn't dare speak their names.
These past six months I've matured, maybe its because I took over the mafia. But I've matured and well when I think of what happened with Lara, I wish I could take it all back. If I were ever to see her again I know I would act very different. She doesn't have to accept my apology I just want to know I apologised and she heard it.
But that's the good part, I know she went to Brazil with her father. I also had an invitation to a ball out there, which we're obviously going to. If there's a chance I'm going to see both of them, I'm obviously going.
"Matteo what's new?" I ask walking into my office.
"Nothing really." He says and I nod.
"Warehouse?" He asks and I nod.
"We might as well check on a few of our clubs tonight, its monday and they won't be as busy." I say and he agrees.
I walk into the foyer and straighten up my suit jacket.
"Alfred just the man I was looking for." I say and he turns to me.
"Jax how may I help you?" He says politely.
"Um I think Gio is upstairs with Amara, can you tell him to meet us at the warehouse and to not take his time." I say and Alfred nods and heads upstairs.
Once I get to the warehouse I head straight to my office and sign off a few files when something catches my eye on the cameras.
Amara had walked through the doors. I turn to Gio and his eyes just widen. I roll my eyes and stand up with Gio behind me.
"I'm pretty sure you all have things to do." I say to the man who's towering over Amara and looking down at her like he's going to eat her for a fucking snack.
I can't deal with this girl.
She quickly rushes around me to Gio, walking with him back to our office.
We head back into my office where she sits opposite me at my desk.
"What on earth are you doing here?" I ask and she waves the car keys infront of my face.
"I didn't ask how I asked what." I say and she rolls her eyes.
"Jax you need to watch your tone." Gio warns me and I roll my eyes.
"I'm bored." She says shrugging.
"So you thought it would be a good idea to show up to the warehouse when it's full of men. We hardly bring women here except for if its something like torture so now we have to work and watch you." I say and she sighs.
"What are you doing here?" Matteo asks walking into my office.
"That's a lovely way to talk to your sister." She says rolling her eyes.
"She followed Gio here. I say and he nods.
"Well I'm going to go check out some clubs." He says and I nod whilst looking down at the files infront of me.
"Actually take your sister with you." I say looking back up at him.
"Let her explore a little, you guys have been here for about six months and she's hardly left the house." I say and she jumps up in excitement.
"Oh my god. Yes. Let's go Matteo. See you guys later." She says and drags Matteo out of the office.
Now I don't have to worry about her being here as well.
Lovely.
"Have you heard if Lara's going?" I ask Gio and he shakes his head no.
"She hasn't returned any of my texts." He says shrugging.
"Do you think she'll be there?" I ask and he looks up from whatever he was signing.
"I don't know, but she seems happier. Way happier then who she was when you two were together and way happier then what she was before." He says and I sigh.
"You've grown Jax, I'm sure she'll be proud of you. Just don't expect too much." He says and I roll my eyes.
"How are things between you and Amara anyway?" I ask and he nods.
"Yeah they're alright." He says and I nod.
"I can't believe you guys have been dating since the Christmas trip to Italy." I say and he raises an eyebrow because that statement isn't exactly true.
This is the first 'girlfriend' Gio has ever had and I'm actually kind of happy for him, hope everything works out.
"Do you love her?" I ask and he sighs. I know he does, it's been so evident on his face for so long.
"I don't know. I really like her and I can see a future with her but I don't think we're at that stage yet." Gio says and I nod.
In translation he's scared, would never admit that to me and doesn't want to tell her yet either.
"Why won't you tell her about the room though?" Gio asks and I sigh.
"No one needs to know that I had a girlfriend and basically a child. You know once she left I put all their stuff in that room and its locked from the outside now." I say and he nods.
"You should tell her though." He says and I sigh.
"I will, I'm going to have to tell her by the time we go to Brazil anyway." I say and he nods.
"They wouldn't judge you Jax. They're your cousins, they love you and they wouldn't do that. They aren't like your mothers side of the family." He says and I scoff.
"Come in." I shout when someone knocks on the door.
"There's someone in one of your hotels in Manhattan claiming he needs to talk to you and that he has a gun." He says and I roll my eyes.
People are so dramatic these days.
"Right what's his name?" I ask standing up. He gives me a file with the name on it. I sigh when I read over the name, knowing exactly who it is.
"I need to run home and grab his file. Get the name of the hotel and find out exactly what's going on. Make sure the manager takes him to my office room and tell no one to panic. Come meet me back at the house and we'll head to Manhattan." I say and head back to the house.
Once I was driving up the street I noticed James getting out of his father's car. I immediately pull over and they all look at me.
"James I didn't know you were back." I say and he scoffs whilst his father takes his suitcases from him.
"Why would you, we aren't friends. And I don't have any loyalties to you." He says and I sigh.
"How are they?" I ask and he sighs.
"Well maybe if you didnt screw things up so badly you would know. Now unfortunately for you I'm not going to tell you their situation because if she wanted you to know. She'd pick up the phone and call." He says and I roll my eyes.
This bitchy attitude isn't it.
If I didn't love Lara as much as I did I'd shoot him for talking to me like that.
"James I really am sorry." I say as he starts to head back into his house.
"I'm not the one you should be sorry to." He says and I sigh again and get back into my car and head up to the house.
As if one queue I grabbed the file and Gio turned through for door. "You ready?" He asks and I nod.
