Lara's pov
I wake up to my alarm yet again. I switch it off and notice Alannah still cuddling my arm. She's so adorable and cuddly when she's sleepy.
"Alannah." I say gently shaking her. She stretches and looks up at me.
"Manhã." I say which causes Alannah to giggle. She sits up and wraps her arms around me.
"Mama I prefer it here then home." She tells me and I hug her back looking around my room.
"I know you do bubba." I say and kiss her forehead.
A soft knock on the door causes us to look over at the door where Nicole steps in.
"Breakfast will be at the table in 5." She tells us and I smile.
"Thank you" I say and she smiles.
"Obrigado." Alannah says which causes me to turn my attention back to her.
Portuguese is my second language because I used to go like once a month to Brazil with my dad before he left. I speak as much as I can so I don't forget and I wanted Alannah to know Portuguese as well. So when she said thank you just then, that made me proud. I hug her tightly and she giggles.
We go downstairs and David was already sat at the dining table on his phone. Nicole puts a stack of pancakes at the table whilst me and Alannah sit down. Alannah goes wide eyed as she sees the pancakes. I laugh and then Nicole sits down.
"You guys should come over more we miss you." Nicole says. Alannah looks up at me and smiles widely.
"That way you won't have to deal with your stupid mother." David says quietly but we could all hear him. Nicole slaps his arm and points a finger in his face to tell him to behave.
"How was the party?" Nicole asks as I cut Alannahs pancakes.
"Well I made a friend and then my mom completely ruined the night by being a you know." I say and she laughs.
"Explain to me later." She says and I nod.
"How was your guys night?" I ask.
"We had a princess doctor operate on us till dinner time then we watched movies and played for the whole evening." Nicole says smiling widely between us. I smile between them both.
I need to come here more often. I love the energy Nicole has around her.
After breakfast Nicole watches Alannah so I can have a shower. I get out of the shower and then get dressed. I decide to wear black jeans with an orangey yellow hoodie.
I then decide to put my hair up as it needs washing. I put some socks on and go down to the living room.
Alannah was watching Sofia the first whilst drinking from her beaker. Nicole had her arm around her and it was so cute. I go and sit on the sofa next to them and Nicole smiles.
"Do you have work to go to today?" I ask and Nicole looks at her phone.
"I have a few hours till I have to head to the police station." She says and I nod. Yay!
"Right come on then you, lets get you changed." I say holding my hand out for Alannah. She smiles and takes my hand and we head upstairs to my room.
We go into the bathroom first where I help Alannah brush her teeth. When she brushes her teeth I clean her face then take her into our room. I grab her bag which contained today's outfits. I dress her in some black leggins and then a grey jumper. I put 2 braids in her hair. I put our stuff into our bags and leave them in the room whilst me and Alannah go downstairs.
Nicole was rounding up some toys of Alannah's and put them in the toy box.
"Thank you for last night." I say placing Alannah down on the sofa where she watches doc mcstuffins.
"You don't need to keep thanking me. You should be at a college of your choice right now studying psychology. But your still here being a mother to your sister. I would much rather you two come here then stay near your mother but you know." She admits.
After about an hour I decide it's time to leave. I go upstairs and grab our bags. I meet Alannah and Nicole at the door. I put our bags in the trunk then walk back over to the door.
I hug Nicole and thank her again and she just shakes her head playfully. I look down to Alannah who was hugging Nicole's knees tightly.
"I wanna stay here." She says and I sigh. This is the hard part.
"Come on now narna you know we have to go home." I say and out of no where she starts crying. I sigh knowing this is going to be hard.
"We can come back but we have to go home." I say and she continues to cry. "Narna please stop crying." I say getting down on my knees.
"I wanna stay at this house." She says and I sigh.
"Narna." I say firmly and she continues crying. Nicole looks at me sympathetically.
"What about you two come round on Sunday for dinner?" Nicole asks and I wipe away a tear from Alannah's eye.
"What if she's at home?" Alannah asks and I frown.
"I'll protect you, I always do." I say and she nods. I stand up and pick Alannah up.
"See you Sunday." I say Nicole and she nods and smiles.
"See you Sunday" she says and I walk to the passenger seat of my car.
I open the door and then place Alannah in her car seat. After make sure she was secure I walk round to the drivers side waving at Nicole one more time.

When I get home I help Alannah out of the car before unlocking the door and taking her in. I go back to my car and grab our bags and bring them in.
I put Alannah on the sofa with her beaker. I put our clothes in the washing machine. I also clean some dishes before going and sitting beside Alannah.
Alannah was quite grumpy today which is obviously from having to leave Nicole and Davids'. She ended up having a nap after her lunch. I take her to her room and lie her on the bed.
After the clothes came out of dryer I then clean sort the clothes out before I went into my room. I was in my room just sorting a few things out when my phone bings. I pick my phone up from my night stand and see that I had a text from Jake.
Jake- Hey you, how's your day been so far?
I smile and sit on my bed ready to text him back.
Lara- Hey. My days been good. How is yours?
My door flings open and Alannah walks in. She is rubbing one eye with the back of her hand quite viciously. She has a teddy in one hand.
I open my arms signalling for her to come over to me. She smiles and stumbles slowly over to me. I pick her up and put her on my lap where I hug her.
"Stop rubbing your eye, your going to hurt it." I say and gently move her hand away from her eye. I grab the remote for my tv and put doc mcstuffins on for her.
I put my arm around her and hold her close whilst she watches doc mcstuffins. I grab my phone and see Jake had text me back.
Jake- I'm better now that I'm texting you. However it's been quite eventful here today
I smile slightly before replying a quick response.
Lara- always such a charmer? You work in a hospital. Its always going to be eventful
I put my phone down on the night stand. I then play with the bottom of Alannahs braids.
"I love you." I say kissing her temple.
"I love you to mommy." She says in the most cutest tone.
Come 4:30pm I decided to put dinner on. We head downstairs. Alannah was in the living room playing with some toys. I decided to make pasta for dinner.
I had just drained the pasta when the doorbell rang. Alannah runs over to me scared that it might be my mom. I pick her up and put her on my hip. I open the door and a man was stood there with a bouquet of flowers.
"Lara Fernandez?" He questions and I nod. "These are for you" he says and I put Alannah down. He hands them to me and I smile.
"Thank you." I say and he smiles before leaving.
"Bonita." I mutter and Alannah looks up at me.
"Beautiful." she confirms and I nod. She smiles and we go into the kitchen.
I put the flowers on the island and then continue to make the pasta. Once it was finished I put the plates at the dinning table. I make me and Alannah a drink and then sit beside her at the table.
After dinner I put our dishes in the sink and then go back over to the bouquet of flowers. I pick Alannah up and sit her on the island. I get a vase out and put some water in it. I then notice a note in the bouquet. I pick it up and read it.
Thanks for keeping me company last night. Not sure I would of had a good night if you weren't there.

I smile before putting the bouquet in water.
"Do you have a boyfriend mommy?" She asks and I shake my head.
"No bubba these are from a friend." I say and she smiles. I leave the vase on the island and then we go into the living room. I put the tv back on for Alannah. I grab my phone and text Jake.
Lara- Thank you for the flowers, they are beautiful.
When 6pm comes around I take Alannah upstairs. I run her a bath. Once Alannah was in her bubble bath she puts on a fake Santa beard with bubbles which causes me to laugh.
"Mama." She says as I wipe the bubbles away from her nose.
"What's up bubba?" I ask.
"When can we leave this house?" She says and I sigh.
"I don't know." I say and she sighs and pouts.
I do feel bad about not being able to do much right now but I'm trying my hardest. If I leave my mom will cut me off and that's my main source of money. I can't get a job because Alannah needs my full attention and can't go to school just yet.
Once she gets out of the bath we go into her room and sit on the bed. My phone starts ringing and I walk over to a unit in Alannah's room and I turn it over to see James is facetiming me.
"I'm ringing just before Alannah's bedtime so don't tell me off." He says and I laugh.
"James." Alannah squeals.
I walk over to her bed and give her the phone.
"There's my favourite girl." James says.
We talk for about half an hour before James helps me put Alannah to sleep Via facetime. I switch off her tv and switch on her night light. I kiss her forehead before going downstairs.
"So show me these flowers then." James says as I walk into the kitchen. I flip my camera around and show him the bright yellow flowers in the vase on the middle of the island.
"Woah you definitely have an admirer." He says and I just shrug whilst my cheeks burn.
"Okay okay, don't you have something better to do on a friday night?" I ask laughing.
"Time difference." He says and I roll my eyes playfully.
"Mom told me your going over Sunday." He says and I nod.
"God I can't wait to come home and see you guys." He smiles and so do I.
"I really miss you." I say and he nods.
After talking for about another hour with James I do some cleaning downstairs. Once I was finished I head up to my room.
I then decide to text Jake back.
Jake-sorry, only now finishing my shift. I'm glad you liked them.
Lara- they're beautiful, really brightening up my kitchen.
I get into my pyjamas then go into my bathroom where I brush my teeth and wash my face.
Its only 9pm so I sit in my bed and watch some more episodes of Brooklyn nine nine.
Since Alannah told me about how my mom treats her when she gets home from work I struggle to sleep. Alannah is across the hall from me and mom is down the hall from us both.
I want to catch mom so I can bring her up on it. But I never have. I normally find comfort after I hear mom come in and go straight to bed. But that leaves me exhausted in the morning. I've fallen asleep once before mom came home and that was the first time she said that my mom hit her.
Around 2am I hear the front door open. I then hear someone making their way up the stairs. I know its mom and I pause the tv so I can hear better. She doesnt walk past our rooms at all she just goes straight to bed.
After about half an hour I assumed mum had fallen asleep. So I finally felt my eyes getting heavy. I then quickly fall to sleep.
