I had woken up when Jax's alarm went off. I rolled over as he turned it off and climbed out of bed.
"Go back to sleep." He whispers in my ear as he leans over me.
I lie on my back and watch him walk over to his closet and once he was in his gym clothes he said a goodbye before heading down to the gym.
I couldn't fall back to sleep so I decided on having a shower. I went back to my room and chose my outfit out for today.
Once I chose my outfit I headed back to Jax's room where I then had a shower. He completely had a better shower which is definitely unfair but its his house so I guess it's not.
After getting dressed into a white beach dress with a v neckline I head back into Jax's room. I then make his bed and just as I was about to leave to blow dry my hair he walks in.
"Good morning?" He says confused and I just smile at him.
"Good morning." I say and walk past him to head to the room I was supposed to be staying in.
Once I get in there I blow dry and straighten my hair. For my makeup I just did a bit of concealer, mascara and my eyebrows.
I walk into Alannah's room to wake her up and she sat up and hugged me straight away.
We walk into the dinning room to see everyone else seated around the table.
"Lara how are you feeling today?" Gio asks and I nod.
"Lots better, thank you." I say and he smiles at me.
After breakfast me and Alannah head to the living room. We play with a few of the toys that were left here and some of the toys we brought from LA. She was happy which made me smile as I tried to remember that flight journey.
It didn't make sense to me how I couldn't remember anything, surely I didn't consume that much and if I did how didn't I realise?
After playing with Alannah's toys Amara came in the living room. I put Doc mcstuffins on the tv for Alannah and she happily climbed onto my lap and watched it as she fell to sleep.
"So how was LA? Jax told us that you spent some time in LA before coming here." She says and I nod.
"I wanted to get Alannah away from with everything that happened. We have an apartment out there and she loves it out there and it was nice." I say and she smiles.
"Alannah seems so much better. Back in Brazil she was so clingy and emotional which is totally understandable but now she seems happier. She came down and had breakfast with us yesterday without you or Jax." She says and I smile.
"She used to be close with Gio. He was her best friend so I'm glad she came down and had breakfast with you guys yesterday." I said and she smiles.
Me and Amara then spoke for ages until Alannah woke up and was hungry.
We went into the kitchen and had some lunch when Jax walked in with Gio and Matteo.
"Dad." She shouts in excitement and standing up on the stool.
I held her hand for support and Jax makes his way to her and picks her up off of the stool.
"Guess what!" Alannah says as Jax sits in her seat and sits her on the island infront of us.
Gio and Amara were caught up in their own conversation and Matteo was getting something from the fridge.
"What?" Jax asks enthusiastically.
"I woke up from my nap and I dreamt about dancing bananas." She says making us laugh.
"That's amazing, you'll have to show us some moves they were doing later." He says and she nods excitedly.
"I heard that Moana was on today." Jax says and Alannah's eyes widen.
"Really?" She asks trying to contain her excitement.
"Yeah I'm sure once you eat all your food your mom will put it on for you." He says and she starts to eat all of her food and I turn to look at Jax who was watching Alannah with the happiest expression.
After Alannah had eaten her food she tried to convince Jax to come and watch Moana with us but unfortunately for her he had work.
Me and Alannah were watching Moana when she turned to look at me.
"Mama?" She asks and I look down to see her slightly pouting whilst looking up at me.
"What's up?" I ask.
"Do you love dad?" She asks and my eyes widen.
"Yes of course I do." I say and she furrows her eyebrows.
"Does that mean you're boyfriend and girlfriend, like before?" She asks making me smile but shake my head.
"No bub." I say and she pouts.
We spent the rest of the day just chilling and eventually Amara came to join us which made Alannah extremely happy.
At dinner us girls were the first ones there.
The boys walked in looking rather quite different from their normal facial expressions at dinner time.
"Finally I'm starving." Alannah says making them laugh softly.
We began to start eating again and I was zoned out as the events of that morning came to my mind. I had started to remember everything up to leaving our apartment.
"Mom?" Alannah questions and I look to my side to se wher shaking my arm.
"What's wrong?" I ask and she furrows her eyebrows at me.
"We were supposed to be telling dad about Moana." She says and I run a hand down my face.
"Oh um sorry. You can tell him bub. Excuse me for a second." I say kissing Alannah's cheek as I stood up.
I walk to the garden and take a deep breath as I was beginning to feel strange.
"Are you alright?" A voice asks putting his hand on my shoulder. I turn my head slightly to see Matteo.
"I'm okay, just needed some fresh air." I say and he nods.
I put my head on his shoulder and take a deep breath.
"I'm trying to remember." I say.
"Lara it was your first time taking drugs that way plus you had loads in your system. It's okay to not remember." He says and I nod.
"I know that but if I can remember, faces or something they said that would help massively." I say and he nods.
"Well don't pressure your self." He says and I smile softly.
The doors swung open and we turn around to see Jax and Alannah heading towards us. Alannah puts her arms out signalling for me to pick her up so that's what I do.
Jax and Matteo have a little discussion before Matteo heads back inside but I didn't really notice as Alannah was telling me off for not eating my dinner.
Jax had to get back to his work so me and Alannah hung out for a while until about 8pm where I ran her a bath.
After Alannah's bath I had gotten her into her pyjamas when Jax walked in.
We tucked Alannah in and held her hand as we sent her off to sleep. It wasn't to hard but after she snuggled with a stuffed animal Jax gave her it didn't take much longer till she fell to sleep.
"You seem different are you okay?" Jax asks as we step out into the hall.
"I'm fine." I say and he looks at me quite sceptical before continuing his way towards the stairs.
"Ah Lara just the girl I was looking for." Amara says coming out of my room. I smile at her to let her know she has my attention.
"Your phone has been going off the hook, you left it downstairs." She says handing it to me and her hand brushes mine.
In that moment I began to wonder everything from yesterday.
"Melanie.'' I mutter and she looks at me confused.
"What?" She asks and my eyes widen at the name that just fell out of my mouth.
"Oh my god." I say then run past her and down to Jax's office.
I barge into the office which apparently wasn't a good idea with all the glares I had gotten.
"Lara right now is not a good time." Jax says as I catch my breath. I hadn't realised how big this house was until I had to run to this office.
"Lara what is it?" Jax says standing up from his seat.
"I remember." I say and Matteo's eyes widen and he stands up.
He hands me a bottle of water which I quickly take a sip of then look back up to them.
"What did you guys do to my mom?" I ask and Jax looks at me confused. "The night everything went down, I was at my mom's house. What did your guys do to her?" I ask and he sits back down.
"I hardly see how this is relevant right now." He says sending the men out of his office once he could tell I was growing annoyed.
I watch the men walk out of the office till it was just me, Matteo, Gio and Jax. Once they had left I walk infront of Jax's desk and slam my hands on his desk.
"Tell me what happened for God sake I'm trying to piece things together." I say making him sigh.
"She wasn't a priority that night. She was probably severely harmed but I couldn't tell you if she was still alive." He says walking over to a cabinet and taking out a file.
I sat in the chair next to Matteo and Jax handed a file to me. I check the tab to read 15th December 2019 which instantly sends a chill down my spine. I open up the file and begin to scan though it till I came across my moms name.
Refused to say anything about her daughter. Claims she is unaware of her whereabouts. Was then beat unconscious with several severe injuries.
I put a hand over my mouth in shock. "She could still be alive?" I ask and he glances over and nods.
"Oh my god." I say at the realisation.
"Lara what's this got to do with anything?" Jax asks and I put my head in my hands and take a deep breath before looking up at him.
"I think she's involved in this." I say causing all three men to look at each other.
"Explain." Jax says sternly.
"I just remembered as I was starting to fall unconscious they kept saying Melanie." I say and he furrows my eyebrows.
"I know it's a long shot I know that. But I'm pretty sure that my mum is friends with some Russian man. I met him when she was Oh my God." I say jumping to a conclusion I really hope isn't true. Jax eyes widen.
"Finish your sentence because if we're jumping to the same conclusion Lara I swear to god." He says and I sigh.
"She was pregnant." I say and he sighs.
Jax takes his phone out and starts making phone calls and takes the file from my hand.
After about twenty minutes of sitting in silence Jax's phone rang.
"Right let's go." Jax says standing up and grabbing his suit jacket off of the back of his chair.
I stand up causing Jax to look at me confused.
"You're staying here." He says and I sigh.
"Fine but wait." I say and he turns to look at me again.
"The door for the basement is in the kitchen. Then the attic is in my moms room." I say and he furrows his eyebrows but nods and rushes out of the office.
I follow them out of the office and I catch Amara running down the stairs. I watch as Jax checks his gun.
"Jax!" I shout and he puts his gun back in his belt.
"What?" He asks seeing my sad expression.
After debating with myself I rush into his arms and give him a hug. He didn't warm into the hug straight away. It took him a moment to realise and he wrapped his arms back around me.
"Jax." Gio says softly causing the two to step away.
"Be careful." I say taking my arms away from his torso.
"I always am." He says smiling at me softly. He places a soft kiss to my forehead before making his way towards the door.
I turn back to Amara who was smiling at me smugly at we went to my room.
We sat on my bed talking for a while before Amara had decided to ask me about Jax and Carter.
"So I was under the impression you and Carter...." she says trailing off making me scrunch my nose up.
"No Carter is more like a brother. He let's me crawl into his bed when I can't sleep and he just takes care of me. He makes me laugh, he's sort of like James except I haven't spoken to James in a while." I say and she furrows her eyebrows.
"So what's going on between you and Jax?" She asks and I play with my fingers nervously.
"We're best friends now, I'm not going to say anything." She says nudging me making me laugh softly.
"Its complicated. I love him so much but I shouldn't if that makes sense. I can't go back there with him because of everything that happened.'' I say and she sighs and we lie down just looking up to the ceiling.
"Well if you love him and want to be with him you should. There were so many secrets between you and him then Lara. Now you both know the truth you should do what you want." She says making me sigh this time.
"I don't know, I've seen how he is with Alannah and before its everything I wanted. Just looking back at how we were before I feel like we were moving too fast. And like you said there were far too many secrets between us. Since he came to Brazil I've just felt more and more drawn to him. I care for him so much and I don't know if its because of him now being Alannah's dad or if I want to get back with him it's just so confusing." I say sighing. She turns on her side.
"Let me tell you something. " she says making me turn on my side to face her.
"I think you should give it another shot. He would take you back in a heartbeat it's obvious he still loves you. You look at him with all this love and you both radiate it when you're around each other. What's the harm in giving it another try?" She says and I mean she wasn't wrong. There is no harm in trying.
After talking with Amara for the time she went to bed. I got ready for bed myself but couldn't sleep. I went into Jax's room and sat in there on my phone for hours.
I was worried that he hadn't returned. My mom's house was quite an ordinary house so it shouldnt take this long to raid. I tried to stay up for as long as I could but Jax's bed is comfy that I couldn't help but fall to sleep around 4am.
