A Birthday to Remember - long

Luigi Mangione - Imagines944 words~5 min read

It was a calm morning in Hawaii, the sun barely rising above the horizon, casting a soft golden glow over the island. The waves gently kissed the shore, but all I could focus on was Luigi, who was still sound asleep beside me.

It was May 6th—Luigi's 28th birthday—and I had a plan to make it special. I slipped out of bed, careful not to wake him, and padded quietly to the kitchen.

I knew how much he loved breakfast, especially when it was homemade. I decided to make his favorite—pancakes with fresh fruit, eggs, and bacon. The smell of the sizzling bacon filled the air, and I couldn't help but smile as I thought about how much he'd appreciate it. I set the table with little candles, just for a touch of something extra. His favorite coffee sat on the counter, waiting for the moment.

When I finally tiptoed back into our bedroom, I saw Luigi still sprawled across the bed, his hair messy and a soft snore escaping his lips. I chuckled quietly, brushing a stray lock of hair from his face. His deep brown eyes fluttered open just as I leaned over to kiss his cheek.

"Happy birthday, Luigi," I whispered, my heart swelling with love for him.

He grinned, his eyes still heavy with sleep, and reached for my hand. "Mmm, morning, Y/N... I love you," he mumbled, pulling me back down into the bed.

I laughed softly, but gently pulled away. "Come on, you've got a whole day ahead of you. You need breakfast."

Luigi groaned, stretching his arms above his head, the muscles in his chest flexing in a way that always left me speechless. He gave me one of his signature charming smiles. "Breakfast in bed?"

"You bet," I said, winking as I helped him sit up. I set the tray down on his lap, the pancakes stacked high with syrup dripping down the sides, eggs and crispy bacon on the side. His favorite, all there.

"Wow," he said, eyes lighting up. "This looks amazing, honey. You're the best." He took a bite, his eyes never leaving mine as he chewed, savoring the moment. Then, his brow furrowed as he cut another piece and held it up to me.

"Come on, you have to eat some," he insisted.

I shook my head, smiling. "I already had fruit, Luigi. You eat."

But he wasn't hearing any of it. "No, you have to try it. Come on." His hand hovered, the fork with a bite of pancake inches from my lips. I couldn't resist him.

I took a bite, letting the sweet, warm pancake melt on my tongue. "Mmm, okay, fine. You're right," I said, laughing. "This is really good."

Luigi looked pleased, as if he had won some little victory. He gave me a wink before finishing off his own plate. "I'm glad you like it, Lu. But now, we need to make the most of today!"

After breakfast, we got ready for the day. We spent the morning hiking one of our favorite trails, winding up through the lush greenery, with the bright blue sky above us. We laughed, taking silly pictures and stopping to admire the views. At the top of the trail, there was a cliff overlooking the ocean, just begging for a jump.

"You ready to jump?" Luigi asked, grinning that devilish grin of his. He was always up for an adventure, and it made my heart race just being near him.

I took a deep breath. "You know I trust you," I said, giving him a playful shove.

We both ran and jumped off the edge, the wind rushing by as we screamed in pure exhilaration. When we hit the water, the coldness of the ocean was a shock, but the adrenaline made it feel like nothing at all. We surfaced and swam back to shore, laughing like two kids.

Lunch was next. We grabbed poke bowls from one of our favorite spots and sat by the beach, eating and soaking in the sun, watching the waves crash. We shared stories, told jokes, and just enjoyed each other's company, content in our little bubble.

By the time the evening came around, I had already planned a small, intimate dinner at home. The apartment was dimly lit, candles flickering on the table. I had cooked a simple but delicious dinner—fresh fish, roasted vegetables, and a glass of wine for us to share.

"You really went all out today, huh?" Luigi said, his eyes full of appreciation as we sat down to eat. "Thank you for everything, Y/N. This is perfect."

I smiled, taking his hand in mine. "Anything for you. You know how much I love you."

After dinner, we stepped out onto the balcony, the night breeze cool against our skin. The stars were bright, and the ocean shimmered under the moonlight. Luigi pulled me close, wrapping his arms around me from behind, his chin resting on my shoulder.

"This was the best birthday," he murmured against my skin, pressing a gentle kiss to my shoulder. "Because of you."

I leaned back into him, closing my eyes, savoring the warmth of his embrace. "You deserve it, Luigi."

He turned me around to face him, cupping my face in his hands as he leaned down, kissing me slowly. It was soft and sweet, the kind of kiss that made my heart melt.

"Here's to twenty-eight," he said against my lips, smiling.

I grinned. "And many more."

As we stood there together, wrapped up in love and the soft hum of the ocean, I knew this was a day neither of us would ever forget.
