Day 10
"Now, I won't force you to do anything, sweetheart, but you really should inform your parents about this." The nurse gently told Y/N.
Y/N shook her head, sitting up in the hospital bed. "They don't need to know," she said firmly. "It'll only make things worse."
"Well, we're getting your pregnancy test results back sometime this morning." The nurse explained, trying to persuade Y/N into talking to her parents without seeming rude. "If you are going to tell them, I suggest doing it soon." Y/N only nodded in response.
Tyler, who was sitting in a chair a few inches from Y/N bed, stared at her, lost in thought. She isn't even considering the nurse's advice, he thought, beginning to feel hopeless. There has to be a way to fix all of this... Tyler had already decided that if the test came back positive he would take care of Y/N and the baby. He refused to let her face this all alone.
Y/N turned to face Tyler in his uncomfortable hospital chair as the nurse left the room. "Are you alright?" She asked sweetly.
"I guess so." He shifted in his seat. "What will you do if the test is positive?" He asked cautiously, lowering his voice.
"That won't happen, Tyler," she answered confidently. "It's never happened before when Luke and I have..." she trailed off there, taking a minute to figure out what to say. "It won't be positive," Y/N finished.
Tyler cringed at the thought of Luke taking advantage of Y/N and sighed. "I know but, just... what if this time isn't like the others?"
"Then I guess I'll be having a child." She replied flatly. Y/N masked the hurt in her voice, and the anxiety in her chest; this wasn't how she had planned everything to be. She wasn't ready, not when she was still so young. "And I'm not telling Luke either, you know."
"Y/N... how do you plan on doing any of this?" Tyler questioned softly.
Y/N sighed. "I don't know, okay?" She ran a hand through her hair, and Tyler took this as a sign of 'don't push me.' He leaned back in his seat.
"Okay," Tyler continued, "then when do you get out of here?"
"Tomorrow," she answered quietly. Tears began to blur Y/N's vision, but she would not let them fall.
Tyler noticed this and immediately moved closer to her bed. He leaned over, grabbing her hand. "Hey, it's going to be okay. I'll be with you the whole time. He isn't going to hurt you."
Y/N nodded slowly, wiping her eyes. Tyler stood and kissed her forehead.
That's when the nurse came marching in, holding a stack of papers in her hand. "The results are in," she said, flipping through a few pages. "Y/N, I have very big news for you, sweetheart: you're pregnant."
Tyler's head whipped around to Y/N, who did nothing but stare blankly at the nurse. He pulled her into a tight hug, resting his cheek on the top of her head. He could see tears beginning to slip down her face.
Time seemed to be frozen in place for Y/N. The rest of her life had been changed in under 5 seconds. Tyler whispered comforting thoughts into Y/N's ear, but she didn't hear him. She was underwater, suffocating. Or maybe she was in a dream where she could scream as loud as she wanted and no one would even care to hear.
Y/N didn't feel real. She didn't want to cry, or scream, or even be close to Tyler. There was just emptiness, like her whole world was crashing and burning.
Because at that moment, it was.
Tyler's words suddenly began to flood back to her. "It'll be okay, I promise." Y/N heard vaguely. "I'm going to protect you. I'm going to take care of you." But none of this was comforting for her. She needed silence. She needed to be alone.
She looked up at Tyler, who was still holding her. "Could you please leave?" She whispered. "I... I need to be alone."
Tyler nodded respectfully and kissed the top of her head. "Okay, I'll be waiting right outside."
"N-No, Tyler, that's not what I mean," she stuttered. "Just... just leave, please." Her breathing became shallower. "Go home."
Tyler stood there staring at her for a moment, deciding whether or not he should agree. He finally nodded and gave into her demands.
He walked outside, shutting the hospital room door behind him.

Day 11
Y/N hurriedly collected her things and began her walk to the exit doors. She didn't call Tyler and tell him she was leaving. She didn't try and find him to let him know she was alive and okay. She didn't tell Tyler that she didn't want to be a burden to him.
Y/N was having a baby, that was a fact, and there was no way in hell she was going to bring Tyler into the picture.
"Wait! Ma'am!" The nurse from the day before rushed to Y/N's side, holding out a pamphlet. "Take this. It has the information you need during your pregnancy."
Y/N, once again, was at loss of words and only stared at the paper. Finally, she took it from the nurse's hand, giving her a weak smile.
She then set off across the street, walking to her parent's house, trying not to think about how the hell she'll hide the pregnancy from them. More than anything, Y/N felt angry; she hadn't cried again, not since she had told Tyler to leave her. But it didn't matter, because she didn't feel like crying at all. There was only anger and emptiness.
As she was walking, a car drove up beside the sidewalk she was on. It stopped, and the window rolled down. "Y/N? What are you doing out here?"
Tyler.
"They let me go," Y/N snapped at him, showing no interest in his arrival. She didn't want to speak to anybody, least of all Tyler. Regardless, he continued to drive slow enough to match her walking pace.
"Get in the car. You shouldn't be out here by yourself." He finally stopped the car, waiting for her. But Y/N didn't stop walking, in fact, she sped up. She didn't want Tyler in her life. Well... she did, really. The thing was she didn't want to ruin his life with her problems.
Tyler finally got out of the car. He ran to catch up to Y/N, and when he did, he gently grabbed her arm in desperation. She jumped and flinched in response to his sudden touch, and Tyler knew to let go of her.
"Leave me alone," Y/N angrily said through gritted teeth. It was a struggle to keep her voice from breaking.
She was met with a heartbreaking look from Tyler. There was no trace of a smile on his face, only a small frown as he tried to figure out how to fix things. There was water visible in his eyes, but he, like Y/N, would not let them fall. "What's the matter? Tell me." He pleaded. "I just want to help you."
Y/N shook her head again, trying to not let Tyler back in. "It isn't your business, Tyler. This was... bringing you into my life was a mistake. I don't need you anymore." She finished. Tyler's shoulders dropped in defeat, but Y/N maintained a confident posture.
She would not let him see the hurt that she has learned to mask so well.
Y/N turned around and continued walking. For the next minute she could feel Tyler's state burning into the back of her head, but she would not let herself turn around. She could go give in like that. But as soon as she turned the corner, and the state of his eyes left her; she felt alone. Y/N stopped, the realization of what just happened finally hitting her. The hurtful words she said to the poor boy only trying to help her like no one else would.
She had just lost one of her only friends â no, her only friend at all â who actually cared. She could turn around right now, right back to Tyler, and apologize. Maybe he would even take her back, still care for her. And she was about to do so, when she heard a loud thud of a car door closing, and engine starting, and a car driving away.
Tyler was gone.
Y/N let out a sob as she continued to walk. The need to cry finally came rushing to her. Her body was tired and broken, on the verge of falling apart. All she wanted was the feeling of safety given by Tyler's cozy arms wrapped around her small form.
When she finally got home, she called out for her mom, unsure if she was home or not. No answer, of course. Y/N's mother was literally never home. She was what lots of people called a workaholic, never devoting her time to her family, which consisted of Y/N and her mom. Her dad left when he found out her mother was pregnant. Her mom was probably at work now.
After hearing no answer, Y/N unbuttoned her shirt and climbed the stairs up to her room.
Then she heard it. "I've been waiting for you," cam a voice that sounded more like a growl than a whisper. "Your little boyfriend, Tyler, knows. He fucking knows," Luke hissed.
Y/N tensed and stepped back. "H-How did you get in here?" She stuttered, tears threatening to spill out of fear.
Luke stood up from Y/N's bed and smiled a little to brightly. "Spare key. Under the pot outside." He began walking calmly towards Y/N, making her step back into the hallway. "Tell me, why does he know, baby?" He asked calmly, but Y/N shook her head, unwilling to tell.
"Why does he know?!" Luke shouted. When he didn't get an immediate response he slammed his fist against the wall. Y/N jumped, out of both fear and surprise. Luke gave her another too-bright smile.
"Please stop," Y/N cried desperately. Her eyes were trying to see behind Luke. The stairs were right there. If he made a move, she could make a run for it.
Luke's eyes narrowed at Y/N's objection. "You know I don't like you hanging out with other guys." He lunged forward Ron grab her arm, but Y/N was alright halfway to the stairs. Because of Luke's attempt to catch her, Y/N tripped, and came crashing down the stairs.
She was lucky she made it down there at all.
When she hug the floor, it took Y/N a moment to understand what had happened. Luke was also shocked by the fall, but that only gave her more time to do what she knew she had to do: get out, and get out fast.
Her arm was beginning to hurt terribly, but that didn't stop her from getting to the lake.
When she got down the hill leading to her and Tyler's spot, Y/N found a figure was already there. The person was skipping rocks by their self.
She turned to see Luke not far behind, presumably looking for her. She was so, so close to the lake, to sanctuary.
Y/N watched as Tyler moved his gaze from the still lake to her, then to Luke, then back to her, as he pieced together what was happening. She looked back to see Luke quickly making his way to the lake; that was what made Y/N start running, her blood pumping with adrenaline and fear, and soon she had ran directly into someone's chest.
"No!" She screamed terrified. "Help me! He's coming! Help me!"
Before she could keep running, Tyler gripped her wrists, trying to get her to calm down. He waited for Y/N to look straight into his eyes until he said, "it's me, it's Tyler. It's going to be okay. Are you physically alright?"
"H-He's coming! He knows you know," Y/N managed to say between gasping breaths. She felt herself be pulled into Tyler's chest as she tried to slow her breathing.
Tyler looked up to see Luke practically running down the hill towards them. Adrenaline began to rush through his veins.
"Stay here, alright angel? It's going to be okay," Tyler whispered, placing a kiss on Y/N's ear. He let go of her and walked determinedly over to Luke.
Tyler was about to say something diplomatic, but before he could open his mouth, Luke punched him, punched him hard across the face, an angry fire burning in his eyes.
He stumbled a little, taken aback by the bigger guy's sudden outburst. Soon enough, however, anger took over Tyler, and he gave Luke a hard punch in retaliation, before ultimately tackling him. Bringing him deja vu of the time in the cafeteria. It only fueled his anger like coal in a fire.
Tyler used every ounce of strength in him to punch Luke. The tables soon turned, though, and Luke had the advantage; Tyler was on the ground, and Luke was able to beat the hell out of him.
Y/N's screams were enough to root Tyler on to win the fight.
After a few more punches were thrown by each boy, Tyler was able to maintain the higher ground. His hands began to clench around Luke's throat, using every bit of weight and power to hurt this person in any way he could. He honestly wasn't aware of what he was doing; the anger was controlling him, and, frankly, he didn't care. The only thing going through Tyler's head was that if Luke died, Y/N would be okay.
And before he knew it, Tyler felt hands on his shoulders, trying to pull him away from Luke. It was Y/N, tears streaming down her face. "Tyler, stop! Please, you have to stop!" She sobbed. But he remained where he was, adding pressing to Luke's throat. Luke's aggressive were becoming weaker, and his eyes lost the flare of anger that was lingering. Tyler smiled at the sight, his anger to fuming his actions.
"Tyler, please!" Y/N let out a hard sob. "I love you, you can't do this!"
Those words stopped him. She loves me? Tyler thought, stopping in his tracks. His face softened, and he stepped away from the now unconscious Luke.
Tyler sat on the disheveled ground, exhaustion taking over his muscles as the adrenaline rubbed away. Y/N was still letting out sobs, they were quieter now, but her body was still shaking. Sirens could be heard in the distance; Tyler assumed either Y/N or a concerned neighbor called the police.
Although Luke was unconscious on the ground, Tyler did not tear his gaze from him. That is, until he heard the crackling of the grass, only meaning Y/N was stepping closer. He looked up at his angel. She loves me? After what I just did?
They traded stares for a moment. Until Y/N turned her gaze to the beaten Luke, her eyes beginning to water again, and her shoulder lifted up trying to hold back tears.
Tyler got to his feet quickly and held out his arms for Y/N. He embraced her tightly, pressing her face into his chest to hide her away from the broken; all he wanted to do was hold her, and protect her for all eternity, but he knew he would have to let go sooner or later. More tears spilled faster from her eyes once she noticed he was comforting her.
"He's only unconscious, angel. It's going to be okay." He quietly said. He rubbed his hand up and down Y/N's back as her breathing slowed to a regular pace. When she was finally calm enough, Tyler summoned enough courage to ask the one thing that was swarming through his mind at the moment.
"You love me?"
Y/N sniffed a bit before lifting her head and looking softly at Tyler, with red puffy eyes. "Of course I do." She buried her head back into his jacket, and he continued rubbing up and down her back. The sirens of the police were getting louder by the minute.
"I love you too." He said, unable to stop smiling.
It was starting to get truly dark, and the red and blue lights illuminated the water just as the sunlight was almost completely faded away. Tyler turned away from Y/N to see an ambulance and a group of three cops grouped together, talking. Two EMTs hurried from the ambulance to where Luke was laying in the grass.
"H-He's only unconscious..." Tyler stuttered, although no one but Y/N could hear. He had only said that to reassure himself; what if, in his fit of rage, he had done something worse to Luke? That made his stomach ache, and he struggled to take a deep breath.
Luckily, after having his vitals checked, it was confirmed that Luke was only unconscious. He was carried into the ambulance.
A cop approached Tyler and Y/N, immediately putting both of them on edge. "I'm going to need to ask the both of you some questions. Your cooperation would be extremely appreciated." Y/N's grip around Tyler's torso tightened. He reached down found her hand to squeeze back.
"I can answer questions, officer, but I really think Y/N should rest," Tyler responded politely. The officer nodded in agreement.
After being told she would have to answer questions later that night, (So they are fresh in her brain) Tyler led her away, towards the ambulance, where she could sit and breathe. Y/N was given water and a blanket for the shock, while Tyler was questioned about the earlier events. Soon enough, Y/N had the courage to speak up. Tyler sat with her the whole time.

In the end, Tyler left the scene with a black eye and bruised rib, which wasn't nearly as bad as he thought. Y/N, on the other hand, had a broken arm and a small cut on the side of her noggin from the fall down the stairs.
(I laughed 5 mins straight for putting noggin. I'm sorry it's a funny word)
Luke had it worst, though. Bruised ribs, a bruised neck, a broken nose, and a broken collarbone. If Y/N had stopped Tyler later, the police informed, Luke would be in far worse condition, and might have not even survived.
Tyler would deal with the consequences of his actions on a later date, they were also told. In this period of time, he was still trying to process everything. He could hardly remember the fight now; it was so surreal. Luke would also be tried in court; both for assault, and theft from a liquor store down the street. Y/N wouldn't be seeing much of him anymore.
There was an air of relief over Y/N and Tyler as the night drew to a close. Yes, there was still the problem with the unplanned child, and explaining everything to Y/N's parents, but they could handle that on a later date. And as Tyler continues to tell Y/N, he will never leave her side through any of it.
That's all that really seemed to matter.
