The present
Y/n dashed through the forest, the emerald green and charcoal brown branches hitting her face creating small cuts along her face. Of course, she couldn't see the emerald green or charcoal brown due to the darkness around her.

It was 10:30 at night, and all she wished was to be in her warm blankets, waiting for Tyler to get home.
But not this time.
This time she was running. Running from someone dangerous. Someone who wanted to hurt her. Badly.
She tried to hold her breath, keeping her tears limited so she could keep herself quiet.
She hid behind a tree, a little ways from the house.
Y/n glanced around frantically for somewhere to hide. She didn't know if the mysterious man followed her, but she knew she wasn't going to risk it.
Her eyes then landed on the treehouse. Yes, the treehouse Tyler built for himself. It's where he'd go to get away and become 'inspired' to write.
She took 3 big breaths before dashing forward, making a break for the ladder.
Her fingertips brushed the ladder before she was yanked back, her mouth being covered and her body being pressed against the strangers chest to keep her stillâ
Now, to understand the present, we are going to have to go back in time. You fine with that?
If you are then good.
If you aren't then I don't care, slimeball.

Tyler snaked his arms around Y/n's waist, pulling her closer to his chest. Y/n let out a complaining moan, as she turned her body the other way.
She wasn't a morning person, and Tyler knew that. He just smiled.
He leaned down and slowly kissed her cheek. "Morning." He whispered, and without a sound she gave him a look of annoyance.
"Please, annoy me a little more." She rasped sarcastically.
Tyler let out a breathy chuckle as he poked her cheek, to which she swatted his hand away. "What? You asked me to do that!"
Y/n's eyes finally shot open, sitting up and looking at Tyler sternly. "No, I did not!"
"Yes. You said, 'please, annoy me again.' Well, not those exact words-"
"Why did you wake me up?" She interrupted, and Tyler only smiled.
"I want to spend as much time with you as I can until I have to leave at noon. I won't be home until tomorrow." He explained to her for the hundredth time that week.
Y/n nodded, finally remembering their conversation. "Right."
"So, get up, get dressed, and meet me down for breakfast. I'll make ya some French toast."
Y/n's eyes went wide. "You will
Be making no such thing. You always burn them!" She said, beginning to get up from her spot on the bed.
Tyler's eyebrows furrowed "What do you mean?"
Y/n swung the bathroom door open, before turning back around to face a confused Tyler, "I mean, you are a terrible cook!" She shut the door with a chuckle.

Y/n sighed. "I told you not to cook Tyler."
"I know. I know. You're always right." He mocked, using his hand in a 'talk-to-much' gesture. Y/n rolled her eyes.
He burned the toast. Just like y/n said he would. Now, they were at a coffee shop because he seemed to have burned the last 4 pieces of bread they had. Y/n had a theory he did it on purpose so they could go out.
"Hello..." a man came up, giving y/n the hugest smile he could muster.
"Dude..." Tyler rolled his eyes, leaning his hand on his cheek.he was used to her being hit on in front of him by now.
"I'm sorry." He raised his eyebrows at y/n, before turning to Tyler. "I'm a fan."
Tyler immediately straightened himself up, smiling up at him.
"Would you like a picture?" He asked, and the fan nodded.
"With both of you?" The man asked, looking at y/n with a loving smile. He looked like he was meeting his god, but it was odd for y/n because he acted as though she was his goddess.
Y/n nodded, and they both stood from their seats.
The man put his arm over y/n and then put his other hand on tyler's shoulder. He seemed to love squeezing y/n close to him, because after the picture he gave her a big long hug.
Tyler had to tap on his shoulder, with a lot of force I must add, for him to finally let go of her.
Tyler didn't even give him a glance after that. He decided he passed enough boundaries to ignore him, and the fan ended up walking back to his table, but still glancing at the couple every once and a while.
"You didn't have to be rude. He was just being nice." Y/n began, stirring her coffee she ordered.
Tyler scoffed. "Yeah, he might know who I am, but no fan walks up to my girl and just squeezes her like a stress ball."
Y/n rolled her eyes, crossing her arms. "He wasn't squeezing me. He was hugging. He must've felt bad for me because he was there to get a picture with you. It actually happens a lot, Ty."
Tyler only stayed silent, his face still rested in a bad tempered expression.
He looked down at his watch. "We should start heading back, I need to leave in 45 minutes."
Y/n nodded, a pang if loneliness hitting her. Even though he wasn't gone yet, she knew he was going to be gone until noon tomorrow. It was some meeting that was set up an hour from where they lived, and there was one in the afternoon and one the very next morning. So, Josh and Tyler planned to stay in a hotel for that time. Y/n planned to go, but Tyler insisted she stayed, it would be boring to tag along to meetings.
They both got up from their places, beginning to walk out of the coffee shop. Y/n could basically feel Tyler's eyes digging daggers into the fan in the corner. It was his way of showing dominance; trying his best to look tough. He might not look like he could kill you but with his stare alone he could make you feel the smallest you've ever felt.
Y/n felt bad for the fan, but when she glanced his way, he didn't seem bothered. He just gawked at y/n as they left. His gaze looked as if he was analyzing her every move. Like he was trying to find every single detail on her outfit, body, and posture. She kind of felt creeped out.
Tyler must've seen his glaring too because he put an arm around y/n until he had to separate her to get into the drivers seat.
Y/n looked over to a straight faced Tyler, who didn't seem fazed by the man's actions. "You're right. Maybe that's not a fan." Y/n concluded, watching as the man left the coffee shop with a pack of cigarettes in one hand and keys in the other.
Tyler didn't reply, just shook his head and began driving.
Y/n was definitely not looking forward to being alone in the house tonight.

Tyler shut his door, rolling down his window and looking up in y/n's (y/e/c) eyes.
"You going to be alright here?" He asked, just like he always does when he leaves for more than a few hours.
Y/n smiled. "Yes. I'll be fine." She leaned down and gave him a peck on the lips.
"Okay, I'll see you tomorrow." He said, putting the car in reverse. "I'll text you after the meetings, and call tonight, okay?" He added.
Y/n stepped from out of his way. "Okay."
"Love you!" He finally said as he rolled up his window.
"Love you too." Y/n waved and blew him a kiss, as she made her way inside.
She still couldn't shake the feeling of that man's stare. Even though she knew she left him back at the coffee shop.

"No, Maddy, listen!" Y/n let out a long giggle as she heard Maddy ruffle in the background. "You can't just go to the mall whenever you like. You'll end up broke!"
Even though it was a serious conversation and Maddy should probably think about it, y/n couldn't help but laugh her head off.
"I know but it's just so fun!" Maddy explained.
Dink
Y/n turned her head to the kitchen. Her whole body froze. Was that Tyler and her wineglasses she heard clink together?
"Y/n..." maddy's voice got quieter as y/n turned the phone down. They were on FaceTime so it was loud. "Is everything alright?"
Y/n stayed still and quiet for a few more seconds before gulping and turning her head to Maddy. "Yeah, I thought I heard something in the kitchen. I'm probably just paranoid."
"Well, I would be too if a creepy man was staring at me in a coffee shop."
Yep, y/n told her about the incident. How could she not? They were best friends. Y/n looked over to double check the kitchen doorway. "Yeah..."
"Hey, y/n/n. Calm down. You're right, you are just paranoid."
She let out a long sigh. "So, how's Mia?" She changed the subject smoothly. She didn't want to talk about it, it would creep her out more.
"She's good." Maddy began to talk about her little girl and how she loved her smoothie she gave her, but y/n zoned out. She kept glancing at the kitchen, and looking behind her in her camera view. She just couldn't shake the creeped out vibe she felt.

1 hour and 30 minutes before present
Y/n opened the glass door, steam forming around her. She could hardly see in the bathroom it was so smoky.
She wrapped her towel around her and made her way into her and Tyler's shared room. She put on her plaid pajama pants and Tyler's Mickey Mouse shirt.
As she ascended the stairs only to stop abruptly at the sound:
Clink
She held her breath, her whole body stopping for a millisecond before realizing it has to work.
She slowly took steps down, the first thing she saw was the couch, but it was different now.
Someone was sitting on the couch.
On her couch. In her house.
She stayed quiet, glancing over at her phone that's on the coffee table. The man had his back turned, and he seemed perfectly comfortable with a full wine glass in his hand. Another one on the coffee table.
Y/n gulped, and it must've been loud enough for the man to hear because his familiar eyes met y/n's.
"Did you enjoy your shower?" The creepy coffee shop man asked casually.
Y/n was to scared to even move, she just stayed put, her grip on the stair post tightening by every anxious second.
"Answer me." He said lowly, but in some sort of sing song voice.
Y/n nodded her head. "Yes." She whispered, and the man smiled.
"Good. Now why don't we have some wine and talk?" He gestured to the couch.
Y/n took a deep breath. "I- I'm- I need to go to the bathroom... could I maybe go?" She asked, and he shook his head.
"You were just up there." He motioned for the couch.
"B-but I really have to go. I promise I'll be back down and sit and talk with you." She felt a sinking feeling in her stomach, as his gaze deepened with anger, but he sighed and shook his head, nodding nonetheless.
Y/n slowly turned around and made her way up the stairs. Her whole body ached with anxiety, but the only thing on her mind was calling Tyler and telling him to get his ass home.
Once she entered the bedroom she looked down in her bottom drawer where she found her emergency phone.
Yes, emergency phone. Tyler insisted on buying her an emergency phone, and it has an emergency number that if she texts him from that number he'll know something is wrong.
It hasn't come in handy until now.
Emergency: The guy from the coffee shop is in the house. Tyler hurry please

"No! We can not just raise the ticket prices because of your stupid lack of hearing!" I screamed, slamming my fist onto the table. "This is not our only option, and I refuse to raise them any higher than we already have. We've done everything you wanted so far, it's time to do what we want."
I felt a vibration from my pocket, and I shook my head, calming myself down.
I took my phone out of my pocket. The first thing I notice is the contact name:
Emergency
I froze in my place for a moment before frantically dashing out of the meeting. I didn't even read the text yet, but I knew that if it's from that number it's bad.
She's never even used the emergency phone before. I got it for her because I had a little bit of extra money to spend, and thought it was a good tool to have.
"Where are you going!?" I heard from behind me, but I didn't stop. I took the stairs down, and ran to my car.
Damn it, I was an hour away from home.
I sighed, and quickly started the car. I know it's bad to do, but as I was driving I opened the text.
The coffee shop man is in the house. Tyler hurry please
I felt my nose flinch in anger. I knew it. I knew this was going to happen, I had a feeling. I had a damn feeling and I pushed it off.
I pressed my foot down on the gas a little faster.
Fuck I've never been so terrified.

"You clean up very nicely." The man smiled, and handed the wine to y/n. Y/n looked down, trying her hardest to keep the tears at bay.
She wasn't just afraid she was terrified, and she couldn't even begin to imagine what this sick twisted bastard was here for.
"W-why are you here?" She asked painfully, keeping her eyes to the couch below her.
"Because I love you. I've always loved you. And you'll learn to love me." He replied as if it was obvious. "That Tyler dude can't give you what I can."
Y/n stayed silent, knowing if she disagreed she could possibly be killed or something crazy. The man reached for y/n's left hand, and y/n stiffened at his touch. The feeling of disgust and anxiety creeping up her spine.
He gently took her ring off her finger and placed it on the coffee table. "You don't need that anymore." He slowly placed his rough hand on her knee. "Will you look up at me?"
Y/n slowly obeyed, raising her face to see the same creeping eyes she saw at the coffee shop. The same, but stronger, vibe crept into her bones and she couldn't help but look down again.
"We're going to leave, and run away together." He let out a twisted laugh. "And you're going to learn to love me so much."
Y/n tried to ease herself away from the man, yet he wouldn't take his hand off her knee. He squeezed it a little tighter once he felt her move.
"Will you just leave me alone, please?" Her voice broke as tears fell from her cheeks. She tried to keep it together, but that only made her hands shake with anxiety.
"Why? Am I not good enough for you?" His voice raised. "It's because of my looks isn't it..." he assumed, and y/n shook her head.
She heard something from outside the house, and she got a pang of hope that Tyler finally made it.
"Isn't it!?" He raised himself up from the couch, his hand flying up to smack her across the face, but before he could do anything y/n saw Tyler run from the front door, dive over the couch and take the man with him.
They both landed on the coffee table, the wine glasses shattering as the coffee table moved slightly backward with their impact.
Y/n jumped up from her spot of the couch, backing herself in the corner.
Tyler repeatedly punched the man, his body not giving any signs of stopping any time soon. His blood was boiling with hot anger, and his eyes were flaming.
He soon stopped punched the man, as he thrust him up and against the wall with force. Y/n was sure he shook the whole house.
"Who the fuck do you think you are?" He snared, "Do you really think you can come into my home, assault my wife, and make it out alive?" Tyler growled breathlessly, the man hanging from his collar, his back smashed up against the wall.
It was only then y/n noticed the gun Tyler had pressed into the man's gut. His finger hovering over the trigger. A whole new overwhelming wave of fear hit her and she decided to speak up.
"Tyler..." she cried, making Tyler swiftly turn his head to see her. His face softened, his finger quickly moving from its place on the trigger. "Please put the gun down, we can call the police, it'll be okay."
Y/n put her hands out in a stopping motion, but she wouldn't step closer.
Tyler's grip loosened on the man, as his eyebrows softened. His eyes becoming the normal color Y/n loved. "Give me the gun, Ty."
Tyler slowly removed the gun from the man's stomach, his body relaxing with every movement. He didn't want to scare y/n. Was she scared of him?
He reached out to hand the gun to her, but before he could he felt a kick in the gut, and he doubled over. The man quickly snatched the gun from Tyler and held it up to Tyler's head.
Y/n yelped, as the man began to laugh.
He kicked Tyler in the stomach, making him curl into a ball. "Run." He choked out, and the man chuckled.
"Yeah, you go ahead. Wouldn't want you to see me kill your husband. I'll find you later."
No matter how much she wanted to stay and help Tyler she couldn't. Her body couldn't fight. So she ran. She obeyed Tyler and she ran. She had to.
Before to long she heard a gun go off, like a car backfiring, and she jumped before running faster.
The present
Y/n glanced around frantically for somewhere to hide. She didn't know if the mysterious man followed her, but she knew she wasn't going to risk it.
Her eyes then landed on the treehouse. Yes, the treehouse Tyler built for himself. It's where he'd go to get away and become 'inspired' to write.
She took 3 big breaths before dashing forward, making a break for the ladder.
Her fingertips brushed the ladder's rough wood before she was yanked back, her mouth being covered and her body being pressed against the strangers chest to keep her still.
"Shh, shh" the man shooshed her, and she couldn't help but let out cries. Begging for him to let her go, to just let her cry.
The man dropped to his knees, the crying girl going with him, as he leaned against the tree, rocking her back and forth. "It's okay. It's over. Calm down." He whispered, but instead of him being creepy like she thought, he was warm and comforting.
Tyler.
She immediately relaxed into his chest once she realized he wasn't a creep. He wasn't a stalker. He was her home.
She felt his lips against her ear as he whispered to her, "it's over. He's gone. I promise, he's gone."
He wouldn't stop repeating those words, over and over and over. Y/n soon relaxed, and stopped sobbing. She was still shaking, but it wasn't as bad.
"Wh-what do you mean he's gone?" She asked.
"He's gone. And I don't regret it. Self-defense." Tyler replied simply, his fingers running through her hair soothingly.
Sirens could be heard a few miles away, and y/n felt relieved. "W-will you go to jail?"
Tyler shook his head. "No. I told them. Everything will be okay." He didn't seem sure, but he didn't seem to care either way. He did what he had to do to protect his family. He'd do it 100 times over again if he had to.
He kissed her temple, still rocking back and forth.
I guess I didn't say 'Scuse me could you please leave' like I thought I would. Tyler thought.
