"Jen..." Tyler choked out absentmindedly as he followed the nurse with his baby, leaving a tired but smiling Jenna behind him.
The sweet song of the baby's cries echoed through the room, nearly putting Tyler to happy tears.
Tyler followed close behind the nurse as she began to wipe the baby carefully with the soft textile. His shocked eyes wouldn't leave the baby's small figure as it lifted its arms and proceeded to cry.
He made that. And it's right in front of him right now. She's right in front of him right now.
The nurse then wrapped the baby up in a white blanket with a variety of colored ducks printed on it.
She held her carefully as she brought her over to Jenna, Tyler still processing the small creature in front of him. Tyler followed close behind as Jenna took the baby in her arms.
Jenna sighed with relief as she held her, a small tired smile forming on her lips with ease. The baby searched around for a drink, so Jenna gladly unbuttoned her hospital gown and lifted her so she could nurse.
Jenna scrunched her nose at the uncomfortable feeling, but soon got used to it and let out a small breathy laugh.
Tyler shook his head from his daze of staring in awe at the baby in front of him, and kneeled down beside Jenna, kissing her forehead. "You did good." He mumbled, and Jenna turned to kiss his cheek.
"She has your hair." Jenna giggled tiredly, but she refused to even think of sleep. This was what she was waiting for for 9 months.
"She has your eyes." Tyler replied. A new smile that he had never knew he had, took his lips. A smile he never knew he'd use. A pure happy smile that made him believe that he could never frown again.
"You'll stay over tonight, and then we can get you set up to leave tomorrow. Would you like me to take the baby into the nursery?" The nurse explained.
"No, we'll keep her here." Tyler nodded, and Jenna hummed in agreement still looking at her angel.
"I need the father to come fill out some things. So we can get a birth certificate ready." The nurse waved Tyler to come over, and he reluctantly got up and went with her.
Tyler filled out the needed information before looking over the paper multiple times. He was literally naming his daughter right now. And even though Jenna and him have talked about the name, he still felt like it was wrong that he was filling this out himself.
First name: Rosie
Middle name: Robert
Last name Joseph
Date of birth February 9th, 2020. 12:34 AM.
Jenna sat on her side, the baby in her small crease. She stared at the baby while she rubbed her fingers softly across her forehead and down her cheek.
Once Tyler arrived back in the room, he got on the bed beside Jenna, spooning her as he looked at Ro.
"I can't get over those eyes." Tyler whispered in awe.
"I can't get over her hair." Jenna giggled. "She looked exactly like you."
Tyler leaned his head on Jenna's shoulder. "I don't think so."
"My body hurts." Jenna giggled.
"Well, duh, you just had a human. That's some crazy stuff. I could never do that. Physically obviously, but also mentally. You're very strong, my love."
Jenna didn't reply, she just stroked Rosie's face. Tyler kissed Jenna's shoulder.
"Hey, Ro." He said gently. "Hey."
