Hermione had finished packing everything by the time Ron had stepped out of the fireplace into their living room. She didn't answer when he called out to her and as she heard his footsteps come up the stairs quickly she looked around to make sure she had everything.
"Hermione, please; I just want to talk!"
"There's nothing to talk about!" She exclaimed, slamming the door shut and locking it with her wand.
"Yes, we need to talk about this!" He pleaded from the other side of the door. "Please! I'm so sorry!"
"Sorry you did it or sorry you got caught?!" She quickly ran into the bathroom and did one last check before racing back out into the bedroom and grabbing her bag. "Just leave me alone, Ronald! I don't want to see you right now!"
She immediately disapparated from their house and landed instead in her parents' living room with tears in her eyes. She knew they weren't home; they would be in Australia for another month before summer came.
After making her way upstairs to her old bedroom and setting her bag down on the ground, she fell onto her bed and buried her head into the pillows. She couldn't believe he would go and cheat on her, with her own assistant of all people! At that point her attitude had switched more to anger over sadness, and she sat up, wiping away her tears as she tried to figure out her next step.
Ginny was not expecting Harry to be waiting for her as she stepped off the field for lunch and her stomach turned to knots. "Harry! What are you doing here?"
"Something happened today, and we need to talk," Harry answered calmly with his hands in his pockets. "Can we go to lunch?"
"Uh, sure," Ginny said nervously. "Let me just go change real quick."
She raced into the locker room and paced back and forth for a few moments before pulling on a fresh pair of clothes and racing back out. Did Harry find out that she was talking to Blaise and seeing him over lunch?
Her stomach dropped though when she saw Blaise standing and talking to Harry. They both seemed very calm, a small smile even on Blaise's face as he spoke quietly to Harry. They both looked up though as she neared and she reluctantly smiled at Blaise.
"Hello, Ginny," He greeted pleasantly. "I was just talking to your husband here about your upcoming game."
"Yes, it's going to be very exciting," Ginny said quickly, her mind racing. "Um, Isolde told me to let you know that she had to run an errand over lunch but that she will send a note to you later explaining everything."
She hoped that he would pick up on what she meant and after a few moments he nodded, raising an eyebrow slightly at her. She then turned to Harry and said, "He's seeing one of the backup beaters. You said we needed to talk?"
"Yes, let's go." Harry then nodded to Blaise and apparated away with Ginny.
They landed in a different restaurant than the one that she and Blaise would go to, which made her feel somewhat relieved. So far Harry showed no indication of knowing that she had a secret relationship with Blaise. Well, it wasn't even much of a relationship. They exchanged letter back and forth every day and went to lunch, and would even kiss every now and then when they were sure no one was looking.
"Is everything alright?" Ginny asked nervously.
"Well..." Harry trailed off and sighed. "I don't even know where to begin."
She then noticed that he also looked nervous, rubbing the back of his neck and adjusting his glasses. He then sighed and stared down at his menu while he asked, "You haven't heard from your brother or Hermione, have you?"
"No, not yet; why?"
"Alright, I guess that's somewhat good," He muttered.
"Harry, just tell me what's going on," She said exasperatedly.
"Hermione and I caught Ron with her assistant in his office today."
Ginny's eyes widened in shock and she stared at him. "Are...are you serious?"
He nodded. "Hermione wasn't in her office when I checked before I came here, but she was very broken up about it, so I suspect she may have run off somewhere."
"I'll have to check on her later," Ginny said quietly before giving him a confused look. "So what does Ron cheating on Hermione have to do with us talking?"
Harry shifted in his chair and took a deep breath. "Well, I was the one to tell Daniels what Ron was doing. Ron was not happy about that, and he threatened to tell you something that I should probably tell you myself."
A small shiver went down Ginny's spine. "And what is that?"
"Look, Gin, it's no secret that you and I have been arguing a lot lately..." He looked down at the table again. "Do you remember that mission I left on a year ago where I was gone for a little over a month?"
Ginny didn't answer, unsure exactly of what to think. She nodded though after she realized he was waiting on a response.
"Well, that was the mission where we had that large fight about the house before I left," Harry went on.
"I remember," She said quietly, nodding again. There was an odd feeling in the pit of her stomach that she already knew what he was going to say.
"I was upset, and wasn't thinking straight..."
He trailed off and she waited for him to continue. The silence hung in the air between them for a while, until finally she quietly said, "Just say it, Harry."
"Ginny, I slept with one of the other Aurors on that mission."
There was something freeing about hearing him say that, but at the same time it still hurt somewhat. She wasn't quite sure what to say to him at first as they simply looked at each other, but then she managed to ask, "Are you still seeing her?"
He shifted again in his seat and looked away. "I don't sleep with her anymore."
"But you still see her...?" She asked, tilting her head.
"We go to lunch every so often and we've snogged a few times," He admitted.
She took a deep breath and sighed it out of her nose, looking down. "Frankly, Harry, I have something to tell you too..."
He looked up at her quickly. "What?"
"Blaise isn't seeing one of the backup beaters," She said slowly. "He and I have been going to lunch as well, and snogging every so often."
She was surprised when his expression didn't change and he simply asked, "How long has that been happening?"
"A little less than a month," She said.
"So he was there earlier..."
"To take me to lunch," She finished, giving him a slight nod. "I've never slept with him though."
"You've got a one-up on me then," Harry said quietly, giving her a small smile.
She laughed slightly. "I suppose you can call it that."
They sat in silence again for a few minutes until she asked, "So...where do we go from here?"
He shrugged. "I mean, we've both been with other people for a little while now. Are you happy with Blaise?"
"Are you happy with her?" Ginny countered.
"I asked you first," He said, giving her a small smile.
She smiled in return slightly and then looked away. "Yes, I'm happy with him."
"Ginny, I'm not mad at you," He said then, moving slightly to be more in her line of sight. "I can honestly admit that I haven't been the best husband, and the past year or so we've seemed more like friends than anything."
"I didn't want to be the one to say it, but it felt like we have been drifting apart," She said, looking back at him. "I'm honestly not mad at you either."
He rubbed the back of his neck then and straightened up. "This honestly wasn't how I was expecting this conversation to go, but I can't say that's a bad thing."
She smiled at that. "It's kind of nice to get it all out in the open, isn't it?"
"Yeah, it is," He smiled in return. "So are we agreeing to separate?"
It sounded much different said out loud than in her head. For nearly a month now she had tried to come up with a way to tell her that she wanted to leave, and now here it was. And the idea still saddened her.
He seemed to notice her hesitation and reached over to take her hand. Not in a romantic way, but in a reassuring way. "I seriously doubt anything is going to change between us, Gin. We've been friends before and we can do it again. You're still Hermione's best friend, and Hermione's my best friend."
"What about Ron?" She asked curiously.
His brow furrowed slightly. "He has a lot of making up to do. I understand right now we're not really any better than him, but Hermione was completely blindsided by this and he threatened to tell you I had cheated."
"Well Ron is a total prat so," She said, rolling her eyes.
"But my point is, if you're happy with Blaise then you should be with him," Harry said gently. "I'd love to stay friends with you, and you know I'll always be there if you need me."
She smiled at him. "Thank you, Harry."
The rest of lunch with Harry went better than she thought it would after that, and they parted with a hug and exchanging wedding rings. As promised, she sent Blaise a quick note telling him that she had good news she wanted to tell him later, and then sent a note to Hermione telling her that she would be dropping by to check on her and asking where she was before heading back to practice.
Practice ended early and Blaise was waiting for her at the end, an unreadable expression on his face. She excitedly ran to him, which seemed to catch him off guard as she rarely showed affection publicly out of fear of being caught. He was even more surprised when she practically leapt into his arms and buried her face into his neck.
"Is everything alright?" He asked worriedly, looking around. "What about your husband?"
"What husband?" Came the excited reply.
He pulled away and stared at her. "What?"
She simply raised her left hand to show no ring. "We decided to separate."
Blaise's face split into a grin and he pulled her back to him, holding her tightly and spinning her around. "Are you serious? What happened?"
She laughed as she picked her feet up and said, "Turns out he was seeing someone else too!"
Blaise slowed to a stop and set her back down as she continued, "So we decided that we were better as friends and mutually split up!"
"So now you can be mine?" He asked, rocking her back and forth.
She grinned at him. "I suppose, yes."
"Oh, you suppose?" He laughed. "I don't even care, I couldn't be happier right now!"
"Of course I'm yours now," She giggled, stepping up to give him a kiss.
He leaned into it, putting a hand gently on the base of her neck and pulling her face up towards him. They held the kiss for a few moments before she pulled away.
"As much as I would love to continue this, I actually need to go check on Hermione right now," She said.
He gave her a confused look. "Why, what's wrong?"
"Ron cheated on her earlier today, and she didn't take it well, apparently," Ginny said sadly.
Blaise raised an eyebrow then. "Well, hopefully the Prophet won't find out about it before Draco does."
"Why?" Ginny asked, confused.
"No reason," He answered with a grin.
"He likes her, doesn't he?" She asked excitedly.
"You think so too? He was trying to convince me that he didn't but the way he talks about her and how your brother would treat her..."
"Ron's always been a jealous prat," Ginny said angrily. "We'll need to discuss this later. I need to go find out where she is."
Blaise gave her another kiss before asking, "Wait; if you two are separated, where are you staying?"
"Oh, he's going to be moving to a different room in the house while I find a new place," Ginny said. "We have different schedules so I won't really see him that often."
"You know..." Blaise started thoughtfully. "I do have a spare room in my place."
"Would you be mad if I asked for a bit of time to think about it?" Ginny asked hesitantly.
"Absolutely not!" Blaise smiled at her. "If you want your own place, that is perfectly fine! I was simply offering it up."
She grinned at him before kissing the tip of his nose. "I'll let you know soon, okay?"
He nodded and they shared one long kiss before she pulled away and said goodbye, running off to the locker room. There was a note from Hermione waiting on the top of her bag and she quickly read it over. It gave her the address to a house in Heathgate, which Ginny was somewhat familiar with as she had been to Hermione's parents' house a couple of times before.
After a quick shower and clothing change, Ginny grabbed her things and disapparated, landing in the cover of the larges bushes in the front yard of the house. The sun was starting to set and she could see lights on in the house as she went to the front door and unlocked it with a wave of her hand.
"Hermione?" She called out as she stepped into the house.
There wasn't an answer, but she heard very loud music coming from upstairs and she carefully made her way up, keeping her wand tight in her hand.
"Hermione?"
Shefollowed the loud music and found Hermione's bedroom, with the door slightlyopened. After pushing the door open and walking in, she looked into thebathroom and gasped. "Oh my god, Hermione!"
A/N: Hermione is fine, by the way lol you guys will find out what happened tomorrow! Love you all! <3
