Never Late, Never Away Chapter 2268
"Alright. Just continue to perform well. Maybe then I will consider helping you,â Larry joked.
Jessica refused to give in. âWho knows. I might not even need your help by then.â
The man smirked as he gave a resigned shrug. She is still so naive. She won't come back unless she
meets a dead end. Fine. I will just let her try on her own, or else she would never know the cruel
reality in the business world.
"So, when do you plan to start?â Larry then asked casually.
âI will start making some calls firsthand tomorrow,â Jessica replied honestly.
She sure is efficient! She truly deserves to be the daughter of the Zimmer family. Larry's lips curled
into a contented yet awkward smile upon hearing her contented smile.
However, little did they both knew what bad luck was awaiting ahead of her enthusiastic plan.
âSince you don't need any of my help, I will leave. Call me if you need me.â Upon saying that, Jessica
walked out of the office.
She intended to ask Joan out as she felt the urge to explain the truth, but it seemed unnecessary at
the moment.
Jessica, you are indeed a true friend! Larry displayed a contented smile on his face, but it
disappeared seconds later as he thought about his dear wife again
Joan, we have been through so many ups and downs in life together, yet you lost your trust for me
over an unintended kiss...
During that moment, the man's figure looked utterly decadent and lonely.
The next morning, Dustin was still worrying about Joan; hence he paid another visit. That was when
Joan told him about her decision to move out.
âJoan, have you thought it through?â Never had Dustin expected that she would make such a drastic
decision.
âI have. Dustin, I only let you know because I trust you. You should know better than no one should
find out where I am,â Joan said faintly.
Although seemingly worried, Dustin was secretly elated in his heart. In fact, this was a window of
opportunity that he had been waiting for.
Even though Joan had stated clearly that she would not want to be interrupted, she had still told
him her new address. This detail alone would make him feel overjoyed for the entire day.
âI got it. You focus on getting some rest and recovering well. Don't bother about the work in the
supermarket. All the colleagues understand your situation well.â Dustin patted gently on her back
while comforting her.
âMom, where are you going? Why donât you bring me along? I want to go with you.â Right then,
Lucius hopped into Joan's embrace, his eyes pleading.
Joan was lost for words, looking utterly dispirited. She could not bear to leave the boy nor the
house, but she could not bear more to affect her son's life with her trauma.
Joan squatted to face Lucius and caressed his head, saying, âLucius, listen to me. I will only be gone
for a short while. I will bring you over as soon as I can.â
"Okay, Mom. Promise me you will come to get me once you settle down. I don't want to part with
you or Grandma.â
Joan started packing everything from the room, leaving behind all stuff that belonged to Larry.
Before leaving, she gave a last glimpse at this familiar place.
âWhat's wrong? Tell me now.â Looking at Jessica, who was sobbing endlessly in the ward, Caspian
was at a loss.
All he wanted to do at that very moment was to hug her tightly and kiss her forehead to comfort
her. Nevertheless, he was aware that the woman did not feel the same way towards him.
Eventually, he could only stay by her side and wait for her to finish crying.
âTell me, what kind of people forsakes their own family? Shame on those bunches of ingrates! How
much help did my parents selflessly give them when they were alive? When I ask for their aid for the
first time ever, all of them shut their doors on me.â Jessica bawled her eyes out as she complained.
So that's how what happened.
Caspian's facial features remained expressionless.
Isn't this normal in our community? It is human nature to be selfish and self-centered. There's
nothing we can do about that. It seems that sheâs still an innocent kid after all... She's still ignorant
of the real world.
