"Be careful not to crush it." Xiu Mei told her son who volunteered to hold the bouquet of flowers for her eldest brother. Lu Qiang nodded carefully holding those delicate flowers and made sure not to hug them too tightly.
Behind them, Lu Chen held the basket of fruits and food that she bought.
As soon as they reached the door of his room, they all stopped on their tracks to make way for the bunch of soldiers exiting his brotherâs room. They all seemed lively and were even energetically saying goodbye to the person inside the room before getting scolded.
Xiu Mei smiled warmly at the picture of their backs. That was probably her eldest brotherâs team that she hadnât seen before.
Well, itâs not like she needed to meet them given the confidentiality of the team members in the military. After watching them disappear into the hallway, they entered the room and saw her injured elder brother who already rose from his bed and was doing some light stretch.
"Donât you know how to rest?" She scolded.
"Says the most workaholic sister of mine." Xiu Min retorted. If it wasnât for his slightly hoarse voice, she would doubt whether he really just woke up from weeks-long sleep.
Crossing her arms, she narrowed her eyes at him.
"Thatâs why Iâm telling you to rest. Learned it the hard way."
Before the two siblings could continue their small banter, a little head popped in between them with flowers covering his face.
"Hello, Uncle! I hope youâre feeling better now." Lu Qiang greeted while handing over the bouquet to him. Xiu Min immediately softened at the sight of his nephew and smilingly accepted the flowers.
"Thank you, little nephew." He even patted the small head in front of him.
"Iâll arrange that on a vase." Xiu Mei grabbed the bouquet and replaced the old flowers with new ones.
Xiu Min raised his eyes to meet his brother-in-lawâs gaze. The two didnât say anything but just nodded to each other, unknown whether this action was a greeting or if it meant something different instead.
"We already prepared a dinner for my brother so just heat it up later when heâs hungry." Xiu Mei reminded the helper whoâs currently on the shift to watch over her eldest brother. The helper nodded taking the food box and a couple of fruits to the refrigerator for storage.
"Before I forgot," Xiu Min looked at his sister with a smile. "Congratulations on your recovery."
Xiu Mei was confused.
What? Recovery for what?
...Ah!
She finally realized what he was implying. He was talking about that she could finally speak now.
"Well, probably not fully recovered but somehow. Thanks." She walked over to his bed and playfully poked one of his injuries.
"Ow!" The patient actually didnât feel any pain since he was already half-healed already but he acted exaggeratedly as if she truly hurt him.
Xiu Mei grinned while continuing, "Now itâs your turn to turn better. Our family hangs out too much at the hospitals. Iâm actually starting to think about whether we should build one for ourselves."
She sarcastically added. Though the fact that they spend quite a lot of time in the hospital is true though.
But most of the time, it was her fault. She was getting hospitalized too frequently in the span of one year.
It was laughable since she barely entered the hospital in the previous years and it was like she was compensating for all those times this year.
"Then you should ask Dad to build one for you."
"Oh, and then weâll see our family on the news with a headline, âAre the Xiu family intending on expanding their power into the medical sector?â then itâs going to be another day of hiding from the public for us because of the mixed opinions."
"Itâs a matter of getting used to it."
"So are we going to hide?" Lu Qiang popped up again in the middle surprising the two. Xiu Min and Xiu Mei laughed at the childâs statement while she helped her son to sit on the edge of the bed.
"Did little Qiang understand our conversation?" Xiu Min asked the kid.
Lu Qiang nodded. "But why do we need to hide from people? We can just remove the news on the internet, canât we?"
"..."
"..."
Oh, she almost forgot. This son of hers is a tech genius ah.
"But thatâs illegal." (Xiu Min, a soldier who strictly follows the laws)
"No, itâs not. As long as we donât get caught, it would be fine." (Lu Qiang, the beloved nephew who constantly hangs around on the internet}
"....Heâs right. Itâs just suppressing news, itâs not like weâre breaking any law with that." (Xiu Mei, the stepmother slash secretary expert in suppressing news, or anything related to it)
Lu Chen, the silent husband who is quietly listening at the side while the conversation is progressing in a weird direction:....
Lu Chen received a call in the midst of his listening to the chat of three people. After briefly going out to receive the call, he returned with a serious expression that halted the funny conversation of the trio.
"We caught her." Lu Chen simply stated.
They caught her. They finally caught Wanwan.
Meanwhile, on the underground city.
Yu Shi Huang coldly watched Ying Wanwan being thrown into a small room in the deepest bas.e.m.e.nt of The Legionâs Headquarters(Lu Chenâs organization) for questioning.
"Do we start with a dagger or should we go straight with the poison test tasting?" A man with a dark skin tone viciously uttered.
"Si Tu Yi, watch your mouth." Ming Xuan warned as he glared at his colleague assassin. With his gaze, he pointed in the direction of Yu Shi Huang.
"Tsk. Then Iâm wasting my time here." Si Tu Yi complained but he didnât continue on pressing what he wants.
He never usually listens to Ming Xuan, but doing their traditional atrocious acts in questioning a person in the presence of a high-ranking soldier, isnât that asking for death?
Itâs not like he would against that woman in a fight, but their head specifically warned them not to touch the soldiers or else, they will be punished.
He was not afraid of the woman but afraid of the head. Lu Chen is the scariest when heâs angry, especially if someone disobeys his orders.
