Vincentius Dante

MY HEART skipped a beat when I looked into her eyes. The world around me stopped and all I could see myself was getting lost in those beautiful orbs. I couldn't understand what I just felt, for the very first time I felt alive. Just by one touch, one simple touch, I felt sparks all over my body.

How is this possible? I was condemned, CURSED. I needed some air; I decided to go in my balcony to revive my lungs because I just felt the sweetest toxic coursing in my veins.

I couldn't believe my eyes as I stared at the woman in front of me. For a moment I didn't even realize the sensation, the bond that I was feeling until my inner wolf chanted "mate." I was the same man that had fought countless times and I was the same man who was robbed of giving love.

I held onto my balcony's railing as tightly as I could. My knuckles had gotten pure white and I felt the railing underneath my palms starting to break.

My breaths were ragged and shallow, all my mind could take me in my head was to see those eyes again. Those damn eyes.

I looked at the sky and I exhaled, the clouds had gathered together; the sky had been postcard-perfect. But it was changing, just how my life is starting to change.

The beautiful cocktail-blue shade of the sky was beginning to darken into a light gravel-grey color. Large pillows of cloud were forming. I got the first splatter of rain as I looked at the sky. Droplets of moisture began to drip from the leaves. They were sprinkling onto the grass like a gardener's hose. Then the rainfall became more intense.

I closed my eyes and inhaled the smell of rain. Light droplets of rain were tapping on my face as I recalled the raw memories once again.

"Vince," I heard a slight whisper as the door to my balcony creaked opened revealing my sister and behind her my mother. I hummed in response as both of my family's women came and stood next to me, one on each side.

"Isn't it beautiful brother?" She asked while trailing her finger on the raindrops which gathered together in the form of a small puddle on the balcony.

"Yes. It is," I replied as I imagined the angelic face which I met a few minutes ago.

"You can't expect anything from life, how it can bring you so low but at the same time bring you so high. Do you know brother? I always had faith in you and Moon Goddess. It blesses everyone. Yes, it can take some time but the wait is worth it. You were never cursed brother, you were just forced to feel ignorant.

But what did I say when we were little? I said you, my dear brother, YOU can pass through it and you know what? you eventually did," she said as she looked at me with eyes that had so much belief, so much trust for me.

"My dear boy, I have no words to thank the Moon Goddess. It broke me to see you in such despair, it was a never-ending ache. How could I see my child in such pain?" Mother continued, she held my hand and kissed it and she made me face towards her.

"It's on you now Vincentius, cherish the gift which is sent to you." and with that, both of my mother and sister made their ways out.

My life with my father was hell.

He had cut me through so deeply that it was so difficult to get out. How am I going to cherish the gift when I can't even cherish myself? How will I protect her when I've got numerous demons of my own? How can I give love when I don't even know how to appreciate it?

I looked at the clock and realized I only have half an hour before to reveal myself. I fastened the hold of my mask as I exited my balcony and took strides towards the ballroom.

As I entered I saw my beta Dorain ready to host the event. He looked at me and I nodded notifying him to proceed as I stood at the far end corner from where I could see everything and more specifically everyone or more precisely someone.

She sat at one of the tables with her family as she played with her hands; she was nervous, I could feel her tension radiating off her. She must've felt my eyes on her as she looked up and started to look here and there. I took a step back in the darkness so she could not see me.

She looked like pure light and as a matter of fact, she radiated light off her. How could the moon goddess bless me with such a beautiful gift which I am afraid I might have to break.

"Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen, I hope every one of you is having quite the time. I introduce myself as Dorain Knight, the beta of the king and beta of all betas. It's quite an honor to have every one of you here despite all the stories and rumors that have been circulated in the past thousand years.

But now, our King feels the need to have you a part of us now, to be in relation to you. I bet every one of you is curious to see him but you know what they say, Curiosity killed the cat," Dorian said which made everybody wary.

He must've felt the tension in the room as he continued," My apologies, I did not mean to scare you but it's time that you all meet the Royals." And with that suddenly the lights were turned off and I could hear the heartbeat of every wolf accelerating. The spotlight was on us as we stood in different corners of the room.

I could not believe that I found my mate here, here of all places. The crystal blue eyes were not moving an inch from my head and whenever I closed my eyes, I could feel the penetrating stare. Just a thought brought goosebumps. when Sophia broke out the news, I was out of words.

I didn't know what to say or what to do and I was so thankful that I had Sophia because we went out to get some air, to relax. Sophia comforted me and assured me that everything will be okay, I hope it does. We were now situated on one of the tables because we were notified that the ceremony will start soon.

I felt very timid around these people and I also felt as if someone was looking at me, watching my every move. I let my eyes roam around in the room to find the culprit but I couldn't find it. I felt restless, by this time the beta of the King was giving out an opening speech. I just wanted to see a glimpse of my mate.

"My apologies, I did not mean to scare you but it's time that you all meet the royals." The beta announced, and with that, the lights of the room were turned off.

The spotlight came on five people who stood at different corners of the room. I was beyond nervous to see the Royals.

All five of them started making their way towards the huge stage. Two royals were looking towards me and I felt highly frightened because both of them held different expressions. Even though they wore their masks still I could see their expression through their eyes.

One of them was looking at me with a bright smile with a twinkle in his eyes while the other one brought chills to me. He held an intense and more determined gaze.

All five of them were on the stage, there were two women and three men, four of them came in front while one stood back. They swiftly removed their masks, the soda which I was drinking came sputtering out of my mouth when I saw Lukas waving at me with a mischievous smile as he took off his mask.

Sophia which was sitting next to me started laughing, few people looked at our way with a strange look. I sheepishly looked down because it was embarrassing. The mic was given to the first woman who looked a little bit old.

"Good Evening all, I am Aurora, Aurora Dante, Mother of the king." The mic was passed onto the other woman who looked young.

"My name is Princess Genevieve Dante, I am the sister of your King."

"I am Lukas, Prince Lukas Dante, Your King's brother."

Lukas said in a much serious tone now. He gave the mic to the man beside him. I looked at Sophia who was missing from her place. Dominic whispered she and Valerie have gone to the restroom.

"Good evening all. I am Hernandez Dante, Prince Hernandez, your King's brother." The mic was now passed onto the beta again, he cleared his throat before saying-

"You all must be waiting for the king. Please rise as the king is now revealing himself."

Everybody stood from their places, the king's family now stood at the corner of the stage. The person who was standing behind the family came in front and sat at a throne which was situated in the middle of the stage.

Aurora, mother of the King came towards the man with a huge magnificent crown. We all, by this time, knew that the person sitting on the throne was indeed the king.

I had gotten so nervous, I felt like running towards the King and untying the mask. Slowly the king started to untie the mask and the lights yet again turned off. After what seemed like hours but were minutes the light came back, and the king was facing his back towards us.

I was so curious to see the face because I felt as if something was drawing me towards the king.

With one swift motion, the king turned around and I felt as if my heart stopped beating. I locked my eyes with the king who turned out to be my mate. A shiver ran down my spine and I was gazing in the most beautiful orbs that could ever exist.

I held onto Sophia's hand because my knees felt so weak. The king sat at the throne not breaking the eye contact, his mother came towards him. I watched everything in amazement, the king broke his eye contact with me as he bowed in front of his mother as she placed the crown on his head.

The king stood and once again he locked his eyes with mine, his face showing no expression as he said in his melodious voice, "King Vincentius Dante, I am your King," The voice was music to my ears.

His eyes never leaving mine as he stood in front of everyone looking like a true king. I heard the beta order everyone, even the alpha's to bow in front of him, everyone bowed, including me.

Now it was our turn to reveal ourselves, but I couldn't do it, not now. I looked at my father's eyes and silently asking him to go. He looked at me and nodded and said something to uncle Elliot.

Dominic, Sophia, and Valerie also decided to leave now with me because they were adamant not to leave me alone and before I could unmask and show myself, I was on my heels and leaving the castle with a longing look at my King as he talked with his mother and before he could look up I was no longer in his sight.
