Bellamy Rose

AFTER THE lovely encounter with my mate, I was incredibly cheering. I was humming a tune as I dried my hair. After coming from the forest, I quickly went to take a bath because I was covered in mud. I couldn't help but think back to the little event that had taken place in the forest.

I was happy. It was natural for every wolf to feel this way. Every mate wants to receive affection from their other half. And with what I received today I was beyond happy. It was quite shocking since a few days back I heard my mate confessing to the Queen that he was faking everything. I didn't want to think anything negative. I just wanted to live and feel in the moment. I wore a simple peach-colored gown that came just above my ankles. It was dark outside which meant that I would soon be called for dinner.

And just on time, there was a knock on the door. I went towards the door and opened it. Princess Genevieve stood there. I was confused as to why she'd come because it was usually one of the workers that came.

"Can I come in?" She asked as her eyebrows rose quizzically. I realized that I was being way too awkward. I nodded my head and gave her some space to enter.

"I saw what happened in the forest between you and Vincentius," she said, which made my eyes widen a little bit.

Silence took over as I didn't know what to say. The tension in the air was growing as the seconds ticked by. She saw it fit to end it.

"There is one thing that you need to know, Bellamy," she said in all seriousness.

I nodded and she continued further, "My brother is one tough nut to crack. The thing which I am about to say must stay between us, even though it's not my place to say but I feel that you should know the truth."

By this time, my palms were sweating and my breath was getting clogged up in my throat. I hadn't been expecting Princess Genevieve to come into my room and confess something out of the blue. Instead, I'd been waiting for the workers to come and inform me that dinner was ready.

"Our father was a monster. He was the only Lycan to ever exist. Our ancestors had also been ruthless, and had cursed him to become a fearless creature; they wanted this to continue in their bloodline.

Hence, they created a monster; my father. See, Lycans were only mythical creatures. They were just a story told to naughty kids by their mothers," Princess said as she walked towards the window, opening it and letting the icy wind inside.

"Father was a murderer who ended the lives of innocent wolves. He separated mates and destroyed them. Because Lycans can age at a slow velocity, centuries passed and Father continued his merciless acts. When Vincentius was born, Father was very joyous. Mother-who was a witch-thought that father would come to his senses and change his behavior. But she was mistaken. Father wanted Vincentius to be just like him, " She said as she took a break and looked at me.

I was very engrossed in the story that I didn't notice that I was still standing by the door. Princess motioned for me to sit, and I did.

"We all were born as Lycans. Father thought Vincentius would become just like him. But he grew up to be the opposite. Father tortured him, made several witches cast a spell on him to make him ruthless, too. Fortunately, most of those spells failed. But one didn't.

Once, Father was furious. He had killed numerous wolves in a massacre. When he came home, he had brought along a very powerful witch who managed to curse Vincentius to never give love. And the spell worked. Vincentius could not love." Princess sighed and sat on the sofa that was situated right towards the huge window.

"When Father finally died, the throne was bestowed upon Vincentius. However, no one knew that the abomination had a family. We were all kept as a secret, hidden from the world. So Vincentius continued to rule like this.

Since Vincentius could not feel the emotion of love, we had lost all the hope for his mate. We knew there was someone out there, you were there, but we couldn't find you until the Ball," she said as she held a smile on her face.

"The gone hope lit up again in our hearts. Vincentius felt the bond. He feels everything by the bond except for love. He cares about everyone but he can't love. But what I saw in the forest today made me realize that Vincentius can love. He wasn't robbed of it. It's just buried deep inside of him, and only you can help him find it. I am here to tell you one thing, don't give up on him." Her eyes shone with a plea.

I had tears in my eyes because I could feel the pain. All my life, the stories which I'd heard about the king had been so negative, so cruel. But now I realized that all the stories weren't of my mate, but of his cruel father who'd cursed his son with something so awful.

"I will never give up on him, Princess," I promised her as I wiped the tear that had landed on my cheek. She stood up and walked over to me, embracing me in a hug. She silently cried on my shoulder.

It was so heartbreaking to see her like this. Of course, she cared about her brother. I tried to calm her down by rubbing circles on her back.

"I am so sorry for the mess. What I saw in the forest made me overwhelmed. It was like a burden had just disappeared off my shoulders. It was as if I could finally trust someone with my brother. My brother will push you away because he feels as if you're going to get hurt by him. He doesn't want you to dream of something that he'll never be able to give," she said as she looked into my eyes.

"I will try my best Prin-Genevieve. I will help my mate. I will not leave him alone," I vowed.

A knock on the door interrupted us. "Come in," I said as the door opened, revealing one of the workers.

"The dinner is ready ma'am," she informed us before disappearing out of sight. Together, Princess and I left for the dining room.

One of the workers peeked into my office, alerting me that dinner was ready. I got up from my chair and exited the room. I had to face her, but my heart hammered against my chest with every step I took. I told myself to pull together. Surely there was no reason to get all nervous, right?

Faking a stern face, I entered the dining room where everyone was seated. I could sense my mate's penetrating gaze on me, which made a weird feeling settle over me.

I sat at my usual seat. She was seated opposite me. The food arrived and we all dug in. The food was freshly cooked and it was very hot. I took my time and waited for it to get warm. But my mate, on the other hand, didn't wait and the hot content started burning her tongue.

"Ouch, ouch. It hurts," she exclaimed and my inner wolf suddenly got worried and demanded dominance. I was caught off guard by my wolf's demand as I saw myself inching forward towards her.

''Are you alright?" The words came out of my mouth. As soon as I said them everybody stopped what they were doing and looked at me amusedly.

"What?" I asked as I raised my eyebrows, questioning everybody on what they found amusing.

They all murmured. My mate looked at me dumbfounded. I gave her a quizzical look. She must have realized that her staring at me was getting awkward as she looked down instantly.

I felt a smile take over my face, and instantly covered up. Wait. Why the heck was I trying to smile?

What the heck was I feeling?
