THE TRIP had been spectacular so far. Vincent had only been an absolute gentleman to me, there was nothing to complain about. Although, I'd overheard Vincent's conversation with his beta that the Alpha of the South was nothing but a man who was always against Vincent's words. As a mate and as a Luna, it was nerve-wracking to hear that the Alpha was being as stubborn as a mule.

It had gotten dark. When the Southern Side was only a mere mile away, Vincent suggested that we stay at a motel that was located in the suburbs of the Southern Side. I decided to wait in the car with Vincent while Dorian ran off to book rooms in the motel.

"I heard the Southern Alpha is being rebellious? Care to share?" I conversed.

Vincent shrugged and his gaze floated to the other side of the window, where endless grasslands spread, and above them, a sea of bedazzling stars littered the sky.

"I don't care about the Alpha being a rebel. Once we meet, I'll be sure to put him in line. Some people still aren't aware of my capabilities," he replied.

"If you don't mind my asking, why are you only revealing yourself now?" I asked, hoping my question wouldn't offend him. That was the last thing I wanted.

"My father wasn't a good person, he did some terrible things in the past. He wanted me to become like him but I couldn't. Those weren't the morals I was taught by my mother. Hence, he kept the entire family hidden.

When my father died, the throne was passed onto me. So with or without my consent, I had to rule. I just simply chose to rule as a hidden ruler because I was very young at that time," he said, and it surprised me to notice how much he'd changed; how willingly he'd told me about his past.

Truth be told, it'd scared me to see his sudden change in character at first, but now it did nothing but make my heart warm.

I nodded and didn't say anything further. Meanwhile, Dorian came back from the hotel and the car shuddered as he hopped back inside.

"King, the motel is impressive, however, there seems to be a slight predicament." Dorian grimaced slightly.

"What is the problem, Dorian?" Vincent asked restlessly.

"There are only four vacant rooms. Damien and I can share one, the drivers can share the second one, and the guards can share the third one. And I suppose the fourth one has to be shared, too." He scratched the back of his head.

"So?" I raised an eyebrow.

"You both will have to share a room. The second motel is at least a hundred kilometers away. We can check out that one if that's what you want," Dorian said looking at the two of us.

"Bellamy, are you okay with sharing a room with me? It's okay if you don't want to, the other motel is still an option," Vincent murmured. I noticed how hooded his eyes had become, and I instantly felt bad.

''No, it's fine," I mumbled. It was the first time that I was going to have to share a room with my destined one.

Even though it was no big deal, for me it was a lot to digest. Vincent looked at me and nodded. We all piled out of the car with our luggage and we entered the motel.

The receptionist came and bowed in front of my mate who nodded and acknowledged his presence.

"It's a dream come true, King. I've always wanted to meet you. My seven-year-old daughter always used to say that there is a king that rules," the receptionist, Eddie said. His eyes

sparkled with adoration as he stared up at my mate.

"Thank you so much, Eddie. I would love to meet your family, especially your daughter," Vincent said as he patted Eddie's shoulder.

"King, I am afraid that would be impossible. My little Hannah died last month, she was bitten by an infected wolf." The pain that the matter brought Eddie was quite evident in the way his eyes glistened.

Vincent looked at Dorian with concerned eyes as he spoke to Eddie. "Infected wolves?" Eddie nodded solemnly.

"It's been nice speaking to you, King, but I'll have to go," Eddie said as he shook hands with Vincent.

"Eddie, if you don't mind staying for a few minutes. My beta needs to know some information about the infected wolves that murdered little Hannah. I understand that it must be a sour

subject to touch and I apologize for that but I need to know," Vincent stressed.

The receptionist nodded and agreed to stay for a few more minutes as he and Dorian talked.

Another staff member came to us and led us to our room. He unlocked the room and placed our suitcases inside. The room was nicely decorated; simple, but nice. However, there was only one queen-sized bed. "You can sleep on the bed and I'll sleep on the couch, sound good?" Vincent asked and even though I felt guilty for being the reason why the king would have to sleep on the couch, I still nodded.

I changed into my nightgown and got the bed ready for sleep. Vincent asked if I'd like some food. I nodded at the mention of food because my stomach grumbled. It was around midnight and all the motel could serve us were grilled cheese sandwiches. The manager of the motel asked us if we'd like for him to wake up the chef so we could eat a proper meal but Vincent denied it.

After eating the food, I settled in under the silk covers of the bed and closed my eyes. Throughout the night I woke up at the sound of tossing and turning that my mate was making. I bit my lip, contemplating whether I should wake him up and tell him that he could share the bed or ignore the creaking sounds. Feeling culpable, I got up and tiptoed towards my mate.

I tapped his shoulders and whispered his name. He bolted upwards, his eyes open wide.

"Is everything okay?" He asked as he gulped.

"Yes yes, everything is fine. You were tossing and turning a lot, I figured you might be feeling uncomfortable. We can share the bed, I don't mind," I said. Vincent looked at me and smiled.

"Are you sure? I don't want to cause you any trouble," He said and I shook my head.

"Y-yes. Don't worry about me. I'll be okay," I smiled a reassuring smile.

Little did I know that I wouldn't be able to sleep a wink. He got up from the couch with his pillow in hand and he followed me to the bed and we both, wordlessly, got under the covers.

My back was turned to him, but I could feel the intensity of his gaze at the back of my head. I turned my head sideways and shot him a weird look as I furrowed my eyebrows.

He shook his head and closed his eyes. I did the same. I waited for sleep to come but in vain, sleep couldn't come to me. I started staring at the ceiling and waited for sleep as I thought how my life changed in these few couples of months. I'd thought my mate would never make it through.

I'd thought he would never accept me or provide me with love. But I'd been wrong. My mate indeed showed me that I was worthy of care. I didn't know about love but I sure as hell knew that my mate cared about me. This thought made me happy.

Slowly I felt my eyes droop. My brain was finally shutting down and in no time sleep took over me completely.

"

Wake up Bellamy," I heard a soothing voice. I slowly opened my eyes and found Vincent smiling at me.

"Breakfast is here. And our journey continues today," he murmured.

I sat up and stretched my limbs, not yet aware of how I looked. When I got up and went to the washroom I saw myself and I internally groaned. I looked so bad. My hair was as messy as a bird's nest. My eyes were swollen and had light, noticeable bags under them.

I splashed cool water on my face to get rid of the swollen eyes. I took a quick shower and wore a dress and a white gown that was made with a net. It came just above the ground.

Next, I wore my red pumps that perfected the outfit. Satisfied with my look, I exited the bathroom and sat with Vincent who was reading the newspaper on the couch. He looked at me as I sat and stared at me for a while.

Feeling funny, I giggled and raised my eyebrow, silently questioning him.

"You look pretty," he confessed. I, of course, feeling shy and awkward, looked down and mumbled a thank you.

After quickly eating our breakfast, we hit the road and in no time, we were entering the Southern Side. We soon stopped as we reached the southern castle. The Alpha of the Southern Side waited as we got out of the car.

A fake smile was plastered onto his face. If we weren't aware of his true self, we might have gotten fooled by the facade. The Alpha came forward with a handshake but my mate ignored and instead nodded.

"Let's keep the fake greetings aside and go straight to work," Vincent said as he grabbed my hand and went inside the castle without glancing at the Alpha who was rooted at his place.

We made ourselves comfortable in the Alpha's office and I couldn't help but find the whole situation hilarious. As much as it was awkward, it was surely amusing to see my mate act so authoritatively. The Southern alpha walked into the office with a grim look on his face but soon, covered it with a fake smile.

"I can see no implementation done on my orders. May I know why?" Vincent said as he looked directly at the Alpha. To be honest, I sometimes get scared of seeing this side of my mate.

"I-uh, we need time, King. The orders they-they are too much to work upon, I hope you understand this," the Alpha gulped.

Light sweat beads had formed on his forehead and he swatted them away with his hand.

"No, Alpha, I don't understand. Your responsibility is not to just carry your 'Alpha' title, you've got other duties on your shoulders, too. Duties like accepting the King's order without making up excuses," Vincent said in a slightly mocking tone. By the look on the Alpha's face, it told us that he wanted to run far away from the king.

"No, no, I will work upon them," he said, nervously chuckling.

"The reason why I've come to the Southern Side is not to waste my time with you. I've come here to congratulate the new Alpha, Alpha Rowan, who has just taken your place," Vincent said as he stood up abruptly offering me his hand. I took it and together we started leaving the castle, ignoring the protests of the former Alpha.

"You can't do this! I'll-I'll sue you for this," We faintly heard his profanities as we drove off. If only we were humans...

That stupid Alpha. Had he thought that he could play me? Me, the King? The real reason why I'd come here was to deliver some knowledge to the former Alpha about the arrival of the new Alpha, Alpha Rowan.

Rowan was just a normal werewolf who worked in the fields. Around a few months ago Mother had come to the Southern Side to meet the Alpha and Luna, her health deteriorated and she collapsed.

Rowan had helped Mother and had taken care of her for days. He'd come to the Northern side and handed mother to the Northern Alpha.

His respect impressed me. And I didn't see anyone else fit for the Alpha position other than him.

I looked at the rearview mirror and signaled the driver to take me to the destination that I had always wanted to go with someone I loved.

Love? Love? Did I say, love? Do I love her?

The Southern Side had one breathtaking spot. In between the Southern mountain valleys was a waterfall. It wasn't just an average one; what made it so special was that it was a mountain range and all the mountains had its separate waterfall so at one time you could see fifteen waterfalls.

The beauty of it is so inexpressible. And I planned on confessing my feelings there.

It was an hour and a half drive. My mate was texting her best friend, probably telling her about her experience so far. I wondered what her best friends thought of me. I wished I had a best friend too. Luciano had been my best friend when we were in our teenage years.

We'd been inseparable, we'd always tell each other everything. Luciano had been vicious back then, too, but with me, he'd acted nice...civilized.

As we grew older we'd become distant, so distant that we couldn't even recognize each other's faces because we used to meet after decades. And looking at him now made me miss my old friend.

But you know what they say, time heals but time also changes people.

I was so caught up in my thoughts that I didn't realize we'd reached our destination. We weren't technically at the same place but we were just a little far from it.

"Come, there is a place I want to show you," I told Bellamy as we got out of the car.

"We just need to walk a little bit. Are you okay with that?" I asked her, hoping she'd say yes.

She smiled and nodded. Together we started walking deep within the mountains. The land on which we were walking on was very bumpy so we had to walk very cautiously. I held Bellamy's elbow to support her with her balance. I didn't want her to twist her leg or ankle.

She looked at me with thankful eyes.

After about twenty minutes we stood glued to our spots as we took in the beauty before us.

The sky was in an orange-red fiery color that mixed well with the mountains. The waterfalls looked beautiful, so beautiful that it was hard for me to speak. The splashing water was soothing, and I felt myself, my heart, my brain becoming light as all the tension and stress escaped from me.

"Bellamy," I whispered. She looked at me with widened eyes, her cheeks still flushed by the beauty of the view. I wanted to tell her that she's far more beautiful than the scenery. That her presence was thousands of times more soothing.

"This is so beautiful," she said in a low voice as she breathed in. I chuckled.

"You're more," I found myself saying. She looked at me and blushed. Her blush was breathtaking.

"Bellamy I want to tell you something," I said as I intertwined our hands and came closer to her. She looked at me with a shocked look and a confused one too. She couldn't decipher what I was about to say.

I gestured for her to sit and we both sat at the middle of a hill where we could see the endless mountains along with the waterfalls.

"Just like werewolves and vampires, witches also exist. My mother is a witch. My father was a terrible father and a terrible man too. He wanted me to be like him but something in me prevented that from happening. Instead of being ruthless, I showed care and love to people so my father cursed me to never love anyone," I said as Bellamy looked at me intently, waiting for me to continue.

"When I found out that I had a mate, I mean I knew that I have a mate but I didn't know that I could feel the bond. When I felt it with you, I was amazed but most of all shocked and scared.

I was scared that I might not give you what you want, so I pushed you away as much as I could. But you're that sweet attraction, that lovely pull that somehow made me yearn for you,

for your presence. I hated fighting with myself. So I stopped and I let the feelings enter me. And you know what, Bellamy? It dawned on me that this," I said gesturing towards both of us.

"This isn't just attraction, I think I am falling in love." I ended as I finally stared deep into her eyes.

"With who?" She questioned. I felt like laughing at her adorable question but refrained myself.

"With you." and as soon as I said those words her eyes filled with tears and she looked down, wiping them.

Instantly, I felt concerned. I pulled her towards me, cradling her in my lap.

"What's the matter?" I asked, my voice showing and opening my full emotion. This was the first time that I let my emotions control me. This was the first time that I felt my walls descending around me.

"I've been waiting for a long time to hear those words from your mouth," she whimpered as she looked at me. Her eyes had become red. I wiped her tears and held her face in my palms.

"I know. I wanted to tell you but I wasn't sure. This is the first time that I'm experiencing something this strong. And I wanted to make sure of it,'' I said and she nodded understandingly.

"I think I like you, too." She blushed, shyly looking down.

"Only like?" I asked, fake pouting. She looked up at me and chuckled.

"More than like," she said as I kissed her forehead and let her lean against me. We watched the whole beautiful scene in silence, enveloped in each other's warmth.
