Serenaâs face darkened as she frowned at Alicia. âHe said after I have the baby, we canât divorce for three years?â
Alicia nodded. âYeah. Isnât that the Lynch family rule?â
âWhat kind of rule is that...â Serenaâs breathing quickened, and she seemed ready to argue, but swallowed her words with a wry smile. âMaybe theyâre just worried a newborn will keep me up at night and wear me out. Taking care of a baby is exhausting, after all. By the time the kidâs three, things get easier.â
Alicia lowered her eyes, falling silent.
She couldnât expect too much. It was foolish to imagine sheâd have any chance of fighting Tyrone for custody if they divorced.
âMom, you should really take care of yourself. You donât need to worry about someone elseâs child,â Melanie muttered, eyes down, mechanically poking at her food as if it were cardboard.
Serena glanced at Melanie but didnât reply.
A moment later, Tyrone returned. He asked the waiter to bring Alicia some scrambled eggs with tomato and a few refreshing salads. âYou donât seem to have much of an appetite tonight. Try theseâfresh from the kitchen, just for you.â
He took the seat beside Alicia and lowered his voice. âSee if you like them.â
Alicia shot a nervous glance at Tyrone, nodded, and took a bite. The tangy salad was surprisingly good.
Seeing her nod in approval, Tyrone smiled. âEat a little more, or youâll be hungry later.â
Every so often, Alicia stole a glance at him. Was he always this attentive? Especially in front of Serena? Surely that would spark some jealousy.
Sure enough, Serenaâs expression grew even darker.
She quietly sipped her soup, but after a few mouthfuls, she pressed a hand to her chest and grimaced. âUgh... Tyrone, Iâm not feeling well. Can you drive me to the hospital?â
Melanie stared at her mother, numb and silent.
No one knew Serena better than her own daughter. Melanie could see right through herâshe was just trying to get Tyroneâs attention.
But if Tyrone still cared about her, would he really be treating Alicia with such consideration?

ï¤Chapter 187 Transmigration: I Have Storage Space in the Apocalypse âIâll take you to the hospital,â Tyrone said, worry creasing his brow as he got up to check on Serena.
Serena leaned toward him, hoping Tyrone would hold her.
Instead, Tyrone turned to Melanie. âMelanie, help your mother. I need to call Felix.â
Serenaâs outstretched arm fell awkwardly, and she lowered her head, face stormy, still feigning nausea.
Alicia sighed and set down her fork. âIâm done eating. Iâll go with you to the hospital.â
Tyrone nodded. âAlright. Iâll cook for you when we get home.â
Felix arrived quickly after Tyroneâs call and stepped in to help Serena. âMr. Lynch, I can take Serena to the hospital. Youâve had a long weekâwhy donât you and Mrs. Lynch head home and get some rest?â
Serena looked at Tyrone with a frail expression. âTyrone, you know I canât stay at the hospital by myself...â
Tyrone was about to agree to Felixâs suggestion, but Serenaâs words made him stop short.
âIâm scared... Those peopleâtheyâll never leave me alone. If they find out Iâm still alive...â Her voice trembled with fear, her emotions on full display.
Alicia watched Serena with curiosity. There were so many secrets between Serena and Tyroneâtoo many things left unsaid.
Serena kept dropping cryptic hints only she and Tyrone understood, as if daring Alicia to realize sheâd never truly be part of their world, never really have a place in Tyroneâs heart.
âAre you tired?â Tyrone turned to Alicia, quietly asking whether she wanted to come along to the hospital or just go home.
Alicia shook her head, stubbornness flickering in her eyes. She couldnât explain it, but she wasnât about to back down. She was going, too.
âIâll come with you,â Alicia said, stepping forward and gently supporting Serenaâs arm.
