Chapter 239

He was a businessman-he knew exactly how to handle Marcus and his current wife.

Marcus hesitated for a moment before finally agreeing. "Alright."

After hanging up, Marcus turned to his assistant. "Take the most expensive car we have in the garage, and go pick up Marcus, his wife, and their son. Bring them to the Azure Heights Hotel-put them in the most luxurious suite."

He wanted nothing more than for Marcus's wife to see, firsthand, the difference between a life of hardship and a life of luxury.

"Yes, sir!"

A small fishing village.

Easton had just returned from helping out by the shore, his shirt stained with sweat and the salty tang of the sea clinging to him.

"Go wash up, quick. Someone's coming to take us to Seaview City soon. Tomorrow, we're going to check out the school campus." Marcus's wife was all smiles, already dressed in what she considered her very best clothes, waiting eagerly.

Easton didn't think much of it. He ran out to the yard, grabbed the garden hose, and rinsed off haphazardly. He snatched a towel, scrubbed himself dry, and went to change into clean clothes.

"Dad, who's coming to get us?" Easton called as he stepped back inside. "Mr. Brown? Is he taking his delivery truck to Seaview City again?"

He was puzzled. Why was his mom so dressed up, just to ride in a seafood van?

"No, not Mr. Brown. It's... a friend of mine." Marcus hesitated, but decided it was time to come clean to his family. "Actually, I've never told you I'm from Harboridge City. Do you know the Lynch Corporation? That's my father's company."

Easton froze, then burst out laughing. "Dad, are you running a fever or something?"

Marcus's wife, on the other hand, barely batted an eye. She'd known for a while- though not the full story-so she feigned shock. "Are you serious? If you're so wealthy, why have you made me and our son struggle all these years?"

She started to cry and wail.

Marcus smiled lightly. "Boys need to experience a little hardship. It builds character."

Now Easton was truly stunned. "Wait... Dad, what are you-?"

Before he could finish, a luxury car worth millions rolled up outside. The entire

village spilled out to see what the commotion was about.

Even at his age, Easton knew enough to recognize just how expensive that car was.

The driver's door opened, and Vincent, the assistant, stepped out, respectfully opening the back door. "Mr. Lynch, Mr. Lawson sent me to pick you up." Content belongs to Swnovel.net

Playing his part, Marcus nodded calmly and limped toward the car.

His wife practically skipped after him, grinning from ear to ear. Easton stood rooted to the spot, too stunned to move.

"Come on, silly! Get in!" his mom called out with a laugh.

Easton frowned, conflicted, his thoughts impossible to read.

But he showed no excitement-no joy at all.

He slid into the front passenger seat, glancing around at the luxurious interior, but didn't say a word.

His mother, meanwhile, couldn't stop chattering, wide-eyed with amazement, like a country woman let loose in a palace.

When they arrived at the grandest hotel in Seaview City, the assistant led them straight to the most extravagant suite.

Easton stayed quiet the entire time, while his mother clung to Marcus's arm, breathless with excitement "Marcus, are you really rich? Does this mean I can buy anything I want from now on?"

Marcus couldn't hide his smile. "You can have anything your heart desires. Designer handbags worth hundreds of thousands, or-oh, once bought a bracelet worth fifty million. When we get back to the Lynch estate, I'll find it for you."

His wife clapped a hand over her mouth in shock. "Fifty million! That has to be a

family heirloom, right?”

Marcus smirked with pride. "To the Lynch family, that's nothing special."

She was so overwhelmed with excitement, she nearly fainted.

Easton, meanwhile, remained silent. Several times, he opened his mouth as if to

speak, but swallowed his words.

To him, all of this felt utterly unreal.
