"This has nothing to do with you. Why are you making trouble for Tyrone?" Alicia demanded, angry and unyielding.
"Alicia... now that you and Tyrone lost the baby, there's nothing tying you together anymore. The Lynch family is a mess-dangerous, complicated. Marcus is just the smallest of their headaches. Listen to me: divorce him and come back to me.
Please?" Vincent's voice was gentle, almost coaxing, as if he could still sway her with a few soft words.
He seemed to think nothing had changed, that if he just sweet-talked her a little, Alicia would come running back like before.
"Give it up, Vincent! Don't you dare cause trouble for Tyrone again, or else..." Alicia threatened, but even to her, her words sounded weak.
"Alicia, Tyrone doesn't really care for you," Vincent said, his voice growing urgent.
Alicia had no patience left for this. She hung up without another word.
Vincent called again. She ignored it.
Why won't he let this go? Is four years not enough for him? Or is it just that his favorite toy suddenly ended up in someone else's hands...
Alicia sat on the couch, staring down at her stomach for a long time.
She had thought she'd be able to bring this baby into the world, safe and sound.
But disaster struck out of nowhere.
Sure, Melanie only did it because Serena pressured her-Alicia knew she never meant to hurt the baby. But even so, Tyrone hadn't so much as lifted a finger to hold Serena accountable. That stung more than she cared to admit.
Tyrone said his feelings for Serena were just gratitude. Was it really just that?
That child was his too.
Not long after Tyrone left, he texted Alicia saying he had to go on a business trip for a week-work, as always.
Alicia lay on the couch, feeling empty, and cried for a long time.
Without the baby, what was left between her and Tyrone? There had never been any real love to hold them together. How long could this marriage even last?
After a few days recuperating at home, Alicia went back to campus.
She was heading to the library to borrow a few books, when just her luck-she ran into Chloe.
Alicia tried to dodge her, but Chloe practically threw herself in Alicia's path, keen for a fight.
"Well if it isn't Alicia! Word's gotten around you couldn't keep the Lynch family's heir, and now Tyrone's probably about to kick you to the
curb," Chloe said, all but glo
Alicia's face darkened. She looked Chloe up and down. "Why don't you do everyone a favor and get out of my way."
Chloe sneered. "Oh, stop pretending. The only reason you ever had a place in the Lynch family was that baby. Too bad-guess you just weren't lucky enough, huh?"
Alicia clenched her fists, turned, and tried to leave.
But Chloe wasn't finished. "Heard it was Serena's daughter Melanie who caused your little 'accident.' Tyrone hasn't even bothered to stand up for you. Guess having Serena's daughter around means you're on your own."
Chloe twisted the knife, refusing to let up.
ve
"Everyone knows how Tyrone feels about Serena. The only one clueless is youâ still acting like you're Mrs. Lynch." Chloe gave a mocking laugh, covered her mouth, and sauntered off.
Alicia stood frozen, eyes burning with tears.
When no one mentioned it, it was
just a duffache in her chest. But now, with everyone talking about how Tyrone always let Serena off easy, it felt like someone had cut a piece out of her heart.
She realized she really cared.
She was getting greedy. She wasn't satisfied just being the wife on paper
anymore...
