Chapter 247

Just like Melanie-everyone thought she was just a naive girl, including Alicia. But even she had pushed Melanie down the stairs to get away from Serena.

"Alicia, what do you want for dinner? Something light?" Wilma called from the hallway.

Alicia snapped out of her thoughts and managed a smile. "Anything's fine."

Wilma nodded, returning her smile before disappearing into the kitchen.

Alicia settled on the couch and texted Tyrone.

"Rough day at work?"

"It's alright."

His reply came quickly.

"I went to the library today, then had a check-up at the hospital. The results were good. The doctor told me to rest-it's nothing serious."

Alicia updated him on her day.

"Get some rest," Tyrone replied.

"Wilma's back from Serena's place," Alicia added.

"Good. Let Wilma take care of you. If you want something to eat, just tell her.” Tyrone seemed to trust Wilma completely.

Alicia started typing, wanting to ask: Can Wilma really be trusted? But after a moment's hesitation, she deleted the message.

Tyrone couldn't be there for her all the time. She needed to learn to protect herself.

She couldn't be Tyrone's burden forever.

"Wilma, the doctor said after a miscarriage, I should eat more protein to recover. Could you run to the grocery store and pick up some fresh shrimp? Maybe bake them with a bit of salt?" Alicia smiled at her.

Wilma wiped her hands and grinned. "Of course, I'll go right now and get the freshest ones."

Alicia nodded.

As soon as Wilma left, Alicia made a call to have a technician install a tiny camera in the kitchen.

Tyrone had already installed cameras in the living room and hallway, but the kitchen was still unmonitored.

She had to make sure the food Wilma made was safe.

The technician had barely left when Wilma returned.

Alicia's heart skipped. That was fast.

"Wilma, you're back already?" she asked.

"Yeah, there's a supermarket just outside the building. I thought you might be hungry, so I grabbed some things quickly." Wilma answered with a bright smile.

Normally, Wilma bought groceries

from a high-end organic

market Tyrone was picky about ingredients. Today, though, she'd rushed right back. What was she so anxious about?

"I saw someone leaving when I came in. Who was that?" Wilma asked.

Alicia smiled easily, relieved she'd told the technician to say he was fixing the

master bedroom's air conditioning if anyone asked.

"The AC in the master bedroom's been acting up. I had someone come take a look

-it's nothing major," Alicia replied casually.

Wilma nodded and headed into the kitchen.

Alicia sat back on the couch, discreetly pulling up the surveillance feed on her phone. She could see every movement Wilma made as she prepped dinner.

Wilma was quick and efficient-her meals were delicious, easily rivaling any restaurant.

Everything about her routine

seemed normal. She worked with

focused precision and didn't do

anything suspicious. No wonder she'd lasted so long by Tyrone's side. Content belongs to

Tyrone had even insisted on bringing Wilma along from the Ford family estate in Harboridge when he moved to Seaview City.

Alicia almost let her guard down and was about to exit the camera feed when, suddenly, she saw Wilma pull a small pill bottle from her pocket. Wilma crushed a tablet and sprinkled it into the food.

Alicia zoomed in, but couldn't make out what kind of pill it was.

A sharp pain pulsed at her temples. She pressed her fingers to her brow.

Now she understood what Melanie meant that day...

Wilma must be following the old man's orders. He didn't want her to have this baby

after all. But why?

Why had he changed his mind so suddenly? He used to be desperate for Tyrone to have a child-what made him want to put an end to it now?
