Chapter 286

“There’s something you need to know...” Clayton hesitated for a moment, brow furrowed, but ultimately decided he couldn’t let this opportunity slip by —Tyrone deserved the truth. “The real eldest daughter of the White family, Nicole, has been found.”

Tyrone’s face darkened. He glanced around, then quickly pulled Clayton into the living room. “Does Reginald know about this?”

Clayton shook his head. “I haven’t told anyone. Right now, it’s just me—and now, you.”

Tyrone fell silent, deep in thought. “The White family’s situation is messier than it looks. Until things with Brandon are sorted out, it’s better not to reveal your family’s true heiress just yet.”

He was being selfish, and he knew it. If the real Miss White came back, Reginald would do whatever it took to force her into marriage. That would only create more trouble...and he didn’t want Alicia to get hurt because of it.

“No one knows yet, so take this chance to get closer to your family’s heiress,” Tyrone said, trying to sound casual but switching to a goading tone.

“You’re not exactly hard on the eyes—my wife does a double take every time she sees you. You’re telling me you can’t win over a girl?”

If Nicole really did fall for Clayton, she would go to Reginald herself. Reginald doted on his granddaughter, and Clayton was certainly capable enough; it would all work out.

Clayton fixed Tyrone with a complicated look.

Tyrone raised an eyebrow. “What? Why are you looking at me like that?”

Clayton took a deep breath. “You’d really give Miss White to me?”

“Of course. Didn’t we agree on this?” Tyrone replied, sinking into the sofa as if it were obvious.

“I went to Crystal Waters today,” Clayton said quietly, “to deliver Reginald’s message, telling Alicia to initiate a divorce with you.” He looked at Tyrone steadily.

Tyrone’s mood darkened further. “Are you upset because I haven’t confronted you about it yet?”

“In a panic, Alicia broke a glass and left a bloodstained tissue on the table. So I took her blood and ran a DNA test with Reginald. Alicia... is actually the real Nicole, the White family’s true heiress.” Clayton had considered keeping this from Tyrone, maybe even finding a way to force a divorce between him and Alicia.

But making an enemy of Tyrone outright? He knew he probably wouldn’t win that fight.

“So, Tyrone, I’m asking you—please divorce Alicia.” Clayton was blunt.

Divorce her. I want to marry her.

Tyrone just stared at him, dumbfounded, his mind stuck.

It was like Clayton had started speaking in tongues.

After a long, stunned silence, Tyrone suddenly shot to his feet. “What did you just say? Say that again...”

Alicia... is the real Nicole, the White family’s true heiress?

What were the odds of something like this?

“You must have noticed—Alicia looks a lot like Reginald’s late wife,” Clayton added. “Compared to that imposter Nicole, Alicia is clearly the true White.”

Tyrone stood there for a long while, saying nothing.

“Tyrone...” From the bedroom, Alicia called out in a worried voice. She’d seen him go to answer the door and not return. Now, wearing his shirt, she stepped out, concern in her eyes.

She hadn’t expected a visitor this late. When she saw Clayton, Alicia instinctively turned and scurried back into the bedroom, peeking out with just half her face visible. “You two...”

“I’m giving you one night to think it over,” Clayton reminded Tyrone, his tone cool. “You promised—you’d let me have Miss White.” With that, he turned and left.

Tyrone rubbed his forehead, still stunned even after Clayton had gone.

His little wife... was actually Miss White?

Well, fate really was a twisted, bizarre thing.

“Tyrone?” Alicia’s voice was soft, concerned. “Did you two have a fight?”

Tyrone looked at her, his gaze complicated. He opened his arms. “Come here. Let me hold you.”

Alicia opened the door and hurried over, leaping into his embrace. “Did something happen?”

For me, it’s actually good news. For Clayton, though... not so much,” Tyrone admitted, his conscience pricking at him.

He’d lucked out—he was being pushed to marry the very woman he’d cherished and protected all along. It was like hitting the jackpot.

But for Clayton...

The White family’s inheritance would now land squarely in Alicia’s hands. If Clayton didn’t marry her, he wouldn’t get a single share.

Back when they’d first partnered up, both he and Clayton had hoped for a win-win.

But now, things had gotten a whole lot trickier.
