Chapter 309

Giving up his claim to the Lynch Corporation meant Tyrone couldn’t openly hand over that thirty million to Alicia anymore.

What would Alicia choose then?

Would she leave him? File for divorce?

There was no way to know.

“Wanna take a gamble?” Tyrone said quietly.

“Good luck, Tyrone.”

He ended the call and stood on the balcony, cigarette in hand, gazing out at the city lights.

Inside, Alicia sat curled up on the sofa, trying to figure out any way she could protect the child growing inside her—anything to keep her father-in-law from doing something terrible.

Once the smoke had faded from his clothes, Tyrone finally returned to the living room. He looked at Alicia, worry etched on her face, and spoke softly.

“Alicia... if I lost everything—if I couldn’t keep my promise to give you thirty million a year—would you still stay with me?”

Alicia blinked in surprise, then looked up at him. “But we already have thirty million. I can take care of you.”

Tyrone managed a faint smile. His Alicia was still so innocent.

She didn’t realize that, in their world, falling from grace wasn’t just about losing money.

Right now, she was a woman of means—she could easily support him. “But I don’t want you to lose everything,” she said, worry creeping into her voice. “That’s all supposed to be yours.”

“Don’t worry. I was just asking,” Tyrone reassured her, not wanting to frighten her before he had to. Besides, walking away from the Lynch Corporation would take time, a process he couldn’t rush.

And his father needed to be handled carefully.

He needed to make sure that, once he stepped away, the old man wouldn’t go completely off the rails.

As for Easton...

He could only trust him, for now.

—

Alicia had no idea Tyrone had already decided to give up his inheritance for her.

Every day, she lived on edge, doing her best to protect her unborn child, terrified someone might try to hurt them.

By her third week of pregnancy, the morning sickness had started. Even the faintest whiff of perfume made her nauseous.

When Nicole White walked by, Alicia had to fight the urge to throw up.

“What’s your problem, Alicia?” Nicole snapped, slamming her hand against the table when she saw Alicia retch. “Who are you disgusted by?”

She thought Alicia was doing it on purpose.

“Don’t accuse people without reason,” said Easton, stepping protectively between Alicia and Nicole, irritation flashing in his eyes.

Ever since Alicia’s pregnancy, whenever he and Alicia had a class together, Easton made sure no one gave her any trouble. He was determined to protect his sister-in-law in his brother’s absence.

“Are you an idiot, Easton? She’s Tyrone’s wife! Don’t you want the Lynch inheritance?” Nicole scowled, her voice rising.

“And what does that have to do with you?” Easton shot back, eyebrows drawn together.

“You’ll only get the inheritance if you marry me,” Nicole declared, smugness oozing from every word.

She honestly believed Easton should be grateful for her interest, but he had no desire to play along.

“Oh, then I’d rather give up the inheritance than marry you,” Easton said bluntly, his honesty bordering on cruel.

Winnie Ryan, sitting beside Alicia, couldn’t help but laugh, nearly spraying her tea all over the table.

Nicole’s face flushed red, then pale, then red again as her anger boiled over. “Don’t get too cocky, Alicia. I heard Tyrone and his father had a huge falling out—he’s officially given up his inheritance. All the media in Harboridge are talking about it. When Tyrone’s got nothing left, I swear, I’ll make sure you regret ever crossing me!”

Alicia froze, staring at Nicole in shock.

Suddenly, panic squeezed her chest. She bolted from her seat and hurried to the restroom, nausea overwhelming her.

She had to talk to Tyrone—right now.

She couldn’t let him give up the Lynch Corporation. It was his by right—why should he hand it over to someone else?

She still didn’t know what was going on between Tyrone and Evercrest Group. Tyrone would never reveal his true role there, not even to her.

But without the Lynch Corporation, everyone would think Tyrone was fair game—someone they could push around whenever they liked.
